This beautiful color and flavorful fish

Wow I have been wanting to go to the Brooklyn location but when I saw the food truck in downtown Manhattan I was ready and waiting. The whitey fish was flavorful and lightly beer breading was so delicious. Then the tarter sauce also had flavor almost a lime ranch taste it went so well with the fries. The person who took the order was very nice and honest about the wait. I will try it again this time catfish. It's so good to find a place that cooks fish to a beautiful golden brown and still have crunch to it. I enjoyed it.

This is a nice food truck of soul food that I don't come across often enough near my work place. I was in awe that they had this by my job. I quickly glimpse through the menu and knew what I wanted. I wanted to try all the sides but I guess I save it for next time. I decided to get the catfish dinner that includes two sides so I chose Mac and cheese and collard greens. Mac and cheese tasted really good and was not too wet. Collard greens were steamed to perfection. Catfish was really big, they served two pieces. It was a lot of food for $18. I was so full that I couldn't finish my plate and had to save it for dinner. Sauces that came with it went well with the catfish! Going to try their whiting next time.

Here's the Scoop: I had my first experience with GG's fish truck. The portions were awesome, the price reasonable. The food was seasoned and so, so tasty. My first experience was their downtown Brooklyn near the MTA building. My second experience was an event held at my church during the summer like 1 week later and I was so surprised but very happy to get the catfish platter again. Crispy and delicious!!! The collard greens & mac and cheese is tasty too. They have a very nice menu but the food goes fast. They also have delicious desserts. I've been told their redo is in Brooklyn but I haven't had an opportunity to go there yet.

This is a review for the food truck/cart. The fried whiting is the truth! I have not tried the chicken or catfish yet so cannot speak to that. Check out their Instagram to see where the truck will be that day, they are frequently in Downtown Brooklyn on the weekdays and Soho on the weekends. Please pop out in the city more often!

The food, service and ambiance were all amazing. My family and I were visiting Brooklyn for the holidays from California. We saw their interview on YouTube and my son made us go there for dinner. We were so glad we did. The food was amazing!!!! Real soul food and good home cooking. Everything' was seasoned well and tasted so good. We ordered the following: Chicken & Waffle, Catfish & Shrimp Combo, Shrimp Poboy, Whiting & Shrimp Combo and Shrimp Combo. Can't wait to visit Brooklyn again if for no other reason then, to eat at GG's.

I got the catfish, and it was good! I loved the sides more to be honest, but I might not be the hugest fish and chips girl. It definitely had a more southern twang to it which I appreciated a lot because the FLAVOR was so good. I recommend for anyone. The lady working there also let a bunch of my friends and I take up the whole counter seating which I was grateful for.

Anthony's special sweet sauce in mango and pineapple! So good!

Cat fish sandwich is everything!!! Be sure to try Anthony's special sauce too! He makes two! Mango and pineapple!!! Slushies are on point!!! Comes in sangria and peach!!! Good to go! Met the owner and he's down to earth! You can sit in and eat! The place is cozy! I'm definitely returning! Thank you!

So I decided to take a walk for lunch break and lo and behold I see this Black and red truck parked right outside of my hospital. "Essential Worker ya know lol".. And its southern food okay okay . So I said let me try something different so I ordered the catfish dinner comes with 2 sides. So i opted for Candied yams like who can mess those up right?! And collard greens . The fish was cooked when you order so it was fresh and and nicely fried and delicious. The yams were good not overly sweet and juicy lol. Ok the greens babyyyyy was the hit for me not overly salty and lil pieces of Smoked Turkey definitely worth the $18.59. Also bought the banana pudding because it looked so delicious will post review about it later when my sweet tooth kicks in... The banana was so good nice and not overly sweet and lil bananas like how i like it. I need a bigger cup tho I would pay $10 for a bigger portion. The cup was $5 plus tax but worth it.. If u see them in the city try em tell em i sent ya! Support black business wink..

This place is AMAZING!!! The customer service will have you never wanting to leave. The food is great. I had the fish and shrimp combo with cabbage and Mac n cheese. The wait wasn't long and the waiter made it even better. I will be back!!!

How dare you question a minor instead of the adult to see if the bill was cleared. If I was there that wouldn't have happened. I stepped away to go to the washroom after paying the bill, which was incorrect. I even questioned it and was reassured that it was correct. To only have my child questioned about something they would know nothing about. Teach your staff about approaching children about adult matters. The setting was ok. You eat them whole and can dip into the yuzu mayo which is a fun experience. - Amberjack: a light and refreshing crudo that's worth ordering if you're in the mood, but not a must - Whipped mackerel: the bread was good and nicely toasted and the whipped mackerel had a lovely flavor. Would order this again. - Cod Pot Pie: I love the idea of this one and with the sauce it was pretty good, however the cod pot pie was on the dry side. Without the sauce it would've been a miss. We also got the mezcal flan for dessert which I highly recommend! The cocktail menu is also pretty fun and looking around the restaurant it seems like folks opt for these drinks over the wine list. My server was very attentive throughout the entire dinner without being overbearing. I wanted to mention her name but unfortunately misplaced my receipt. I love the fact that when I chose the calamari, that they do have the tentacles as well, and not just the rings. For Peaches Prime to meet that one thing was a BIG PLUS to me for a restaurant that looks a little bit more upscale. But the icing on the cake was the fact that I was able to ask for more calamari with the tentacles in less rings so for me that is a win! The drink glasses are quite small like most upscale restaurants are so by the time you put ice in a cup you don't have that much to drink. I ordered shrimp and grits and it has kale in it with mushrooms and the flavor profile was good, but it's not like a southern profile for grits. A southern flavor profile is more rich and hearty. It was good, but the grits were on the runny side. I was provided a fork. I thought it was a small joke at first. You 100% require a spoon and fork with the shrimp and grits. You need a fork for the shrimp and to remove the tails using your butter knife, but to eat the dish you need a spoon. I like the fact that the kitchen did have a little kick of spices. One thing that is always underrated when you go out to eat at a restaurant anywhere in the world, but especially in North America even in Canada, is that food usually comes out to your table warm not hot. But the food came out piping hot and I love that fact. So that's ANOTHER WIN!! They have non-gender restrooms. They were very clean. The hallway that leads to the restrooms seem to be in a different restaurant. I wanted dessert, but I didn't have the room for it after my delicious meal. I definitely will be back but it's not a restaurant that I can come to every week or else. It's not gonna be good for my diet. I would eat too much!

We were able to get a reservation here for 530 on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy. I…read morereally liked the layout with the green tables and booths. The long mirrors on the walls made the space feel bigger and taller as well. First and foremost, I'm giving this place a 5 for the service as they really went above and beyond. It was not the occasional stop by to refill water and grab dirty plates. Our waiter provided great recommendations and offered me a small sample of a wine I had heard him recommend to another table after I had already ordered my orange wine. In terms of food, the bluefin tuna special was very fresh. We enjoyed the hush puppies and the swordfish belly. The fry basket had thin rectangularly shaped fries which were amazing. The only thing is I wish it came with more than two pieces of shrimp and two pieces of fish. The chargrilled oysters were also very good. Lastly they offered free bread pudding which was a perfect way to end the night.

Pardon my late review... rewind to restaurant week and enjoying the company of my two sweet aunts…read more(they are lowkey baddies) and an evening dinner at Strange Delight. I selected the restaurant but was so engrossed in life, I didn't realize it was restaurant week. SD put together a really nice menu and I already knew what I wanted, which usually takes me a lot of time to decide, but the Sweet Baddies decided to order everything on the restaurant week menu for us to share! So, I am going to give a brief (real brief) of each. I'm going to start with the drinks because they were superior. I ordered a French 76, which was sublime. Raw oysters with a mignonette- good for a first time eating a raw oyster; Steamed shrimp- big, fresh and delicious; Grilled oysters- yummy but a little skimpy; Smoked trout Fish dip- my favorite and because we all loved it, we discussed replicating it at home and which brand of tinned fish was best Chinese broccoli salad- was okay; Hush puppies- the aunts liked. I'm not a fan so I skipped; Fry basket- delicious; Shrimp loaf- delicious, but not $25 delicious; There were some more dishes that were not as memorable but good. For return visit, I would definitely order drinks and smoked trout dip. Because they seem to update their menu, who knows what the main would be... Nevertheless, service was impeccable, the ambience was really chill and had a sexy vibe. although the place was full and really busy, it didn't seem that loud.
