Saint Julivert is a wonderful gem of a restaurant/wine bar, located in the Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn. We were excited to see they have been given a "Bib Gourmand" rating with Michelin and found the food and cocktails we had lived up to that standard. We very much enjoyed the whipped Mackerel which tasted like barney greengrass whitefish salad on crack - creamy, smooth and with a hint of spice to it. Next up was the delicious and fresh Amberjack which was seasoned nicely and dressed a yummy tomato broth. Followed by the Octopus, which again was fresh, and super tender with a nicely seasoned broth. We also had the Jerked Hamachi Collar which was super delicious. Well seasoned and highlighting the tasty delicate fish meat there. We then had the Squid a la Plancha which was cooked well and came with some very tasty sauces. And last but not least the Steak Babette with potatoes. Perfectly cooked. Really lovely and tasty sides of coconut creamed spinach and potatoes. Really really excellent. We also enjoyed a few cocktails: Kanpai Martini - with vodka and gin, a bit in the sweeter side. Super smooth. Vermilion Verse - gorgeously dark brandy cocktail. Sweet and tasty. Acacia Golden Negroni - a nice spin on the classic. Didn't have that heavy Campari/grapefruit flavor, and instead has Mezcal and chartreuse. Gold Rush - excellent and refreshing bourbon drink - shaken and tasty! Staff were all friendly and accommodating, and our table was quite spacious and comfortable considering the slim size of the restaurant. This is a terrific spot making fresh, unique and delicious food and cocktails. Go forth and enjoy!

This was one of my top dining experiences in Brooklyn Heights with bf and my daughter. The neighborhood is so chill and peaceful compared to the rest of NYC and Brooklyn. We ordered 9 dishes off the menu and a bottle of French Chardonnay that was excellent! I was there last Wednesday, 10/16/24 and should have taken notes about each dish. The bill was over $300 but so worth it!! It's definitely a must do!! Every gluten free fish dish is exquisitely prepared and delicious. The octopus and ceviche were my 2 favorites! I highly recommend coming here and will elaborate more later!

I went to this small charming wine bar which primarily serves seafood earlier in the evening. I live pretty close by but I've always been hesitant to go here as I'm not the biggest fan of either of their sister restaurants being La Vara next door or Txikito finding both of them to be a bit pricey for the quality. While this place does match the price point of those two spots, I would say the food quality here is a bit more worth it at least from what I ordered and I just enjoyed my experience more here in general. I sat at the bar and while I usually would find bar seats uncomfortable, these seats were nice and plush with a back. The bartender was very friendly and she gave good recommendations. To drink I went with a mocktail/NA drink which was the Mountain Dove for $14 with lapsang cordial, grapefruit, and jalapeno. I wasn't originally planning on getting a drink but as I'm a fan of lapsang souchong, a smoked black tea, this sounded very tasty and it was. The drink was nice with some smokiness and some sourness from the grapefruit reminding me of a paloma (though with mezcal instead of tequila) along with a bit of spice from the pepper rim though I wouldn't minded a bit more spice. As the waitress recommended as I was hungry, I got three dishes consisting of one dish from each part of the menu. From the snacks, I got the Whipped Mackerel for $14 with Piri Piri, dill, and grilled sourdough which was easily my favorite dish of the night. The fishiness from the spread paired well with the mixed spices (I believe I tasted paprika and a few other things) along with the bit of heat from the piri piri pepper which was very tasty when paired with the bread. Shoutouts also go to the outstanding sourdough. I'm unsure if they bake it there or get it from one of the local excellent bakeries (as Caputo's and Mazzola are both nearby for bread,) but it was perfectly grilled with an excellent texture. From the chilled selection which has the raw fish dishes and the salads, I ordered the Wild Shrimp for $21 which is listed as raw-cured with salted kumquat, poblano pepper, and pomelo. The presentation was pretty and the fresh shrimp paired well with the fruits which added some extra textures and a bit of sourness due to the pomelo and a mild sweetness from the kumquat. The broth the dish was in had a subtle sourness all around but not too much. The bartender said the dish was Thai inspired though I wouldn't exactly agree with this as it lacked heat being just a very solid raw fish dish which was on the sour and sweet side. It was a bit pricey for the number of shrimp you get but it was still tasty but was probably my least favorite overall at the same time. My main was the Cod Pot Pie for $26 with sweet and hot pepper sofrito, curry leaf aioli, and aji vinegar. The small pot pie was on top of a sauce and there was another one on the side which had a slight mustardy tasty though this could have been the curry leaf aioli. The dish had nice spices presumably from the sofrito and there was plenty of meaty cod inside and the pastry was buttery with some crispiness. This was very tasty overall and was a pretty filling main dish though I do wish it was a little bit larger for the price point as it's cod and not some fancier fish. Overall, I enjoyed my pricey but tasty meal here. I did get fish however and cheap fish dishes don't tend to be good so some of the price point is expected along with being in Cobble Hill. I have La Vara as a mid 3 and Txikito barely a 4 so this spot gets a a bit above that at a 4.2 though if I go back here.

The anchovy with bread and the raw dishes were absolutely phenomenal and really make this place shine. The mains were pretty decent but honestly I would do a double order of the shrimp and scallops!

Absolutely delicious. Love the shiso scallops, seafood sausage, and hamachi collars. Whipped mackerel was really whippy. Amberjack was good too

Big fan of La Vara and this spot from the same team is not as good imo, but still solid. My boyfriend and I made an outdoor reservation and ordered: + Puerto Escondido cocktail + Oud absolute cocktail + Sorullitos (hush puppies) + whipped mackerel + squid a la plancha + Cod pot pie + Amberjack The Puerto Escondido was the better of the two cocktails. Sorullitos, whipped mackerel and amberjack all stood out. Lovely presentation, but overall I wanted the flavors to pop more.

Another restaurant where the appetizers were so good I wanted to order 20 more but then the entree was just not it. Walked in for a solo dinner around 7pm on a weekday and the restaurant had a lot of seats open. I sat at the bar and ordered the Wild Shrimp, Shiso Taco, Cod Pot Pie and the Blue Valentine Cocktail. I thought the wines they offered by the glass was a bit limited in choice so I went with the cocktail (it was fine nothing fancy or interesting to write about). The Wild Shrimp and Shiso Taco were 100000/10! So. Damn. Good. I do love raw seafood of any kind so I'm a bit biased but the seafood was fresh and the flavors/toppings went so well together. I want to come back just to order these. I didn't feel full so I decided to order the Cod Pot Pie and this is where my dinner turned sad. It came out in a timely manner but it was dry and lukewarm. For $26 I should have ordered another dish from the 'Chilled" section and I would've been so much happier. Cute place to get seafood but don't recommend the Cod Pot Pie.

Great clever and superenjoyable restaurant. This is part of the same group that owns and runs La Vara (neighbor establishment), and Txiquito. Saint Julivert is by far their best venture. Food: extraordinary. A section of a broad spectrum of cultures dealing with great seafood ingredients. This establishment is determined to expand your quality culture regarding fish. Space: Very smart way to use a too-big-bar for a small space. Most seats are around the bar. Lighting is intimate and has a big window to the beautiful Cobel Hill street it is located on. Service: Warm, professional. Impecable. Don't miss this one.

Saint Julivert is a seafood lover's paradise! The menu consists of all smaller dishes, broken down broadly by cold versus hot. As a party of two, we got five dishes and we were STUFFED by the time the last one came out. But I'm glad we got to try five, because each dish was so unique and delicious in its own way: - The whipped mackerel starter was a nice way to kick off a seafood-heavy meal. Salty, with a little spice from the peri peri sauce, and paired nicely with toasted bread. Solid dish. - The borscht was the biggest surprise! It was a great balance from all the heavy dishes, with a lighter, citrusy taste and some roe and croutons to break up the texture. - The octopus was cooked perfectly, and had a very earthy sauce that left the octopus to lead in terms of taste. - The seafood sausage was my favorite dish. The sausage was amazing, almost like a crab cake in texture and not at all as heavy as the usual sausages made from four-legged animals. It came with a delicious sauce, and the greens were a really nice balance in terms of temperature and taste. Such a winner. - The squid was fine, maybe not as memorable as the other dishes, but still tasty for sure. All in all, an excellent meal in a fancy setting. Be warned that there's no avoiding seafood here, and it's gonna be a salty meal most likely. But it's fantastic food in a charming area, such a great spot for a nice meal.

This unique and cozy joint has flavors from all over the world. The concept is that the chef takes gastronomic inspiration from his travels, and it comes to life in his dishes! We ordered a couple dishes and each one had a hint of a different part of the world: Asian, Mediterranean, Italian. I enjoyed the risotto the most but I believe the menu changes so I will definitely be back.

I came here for dinner with a friend and the service was great. We got four tapas between the two of us. We enjoyed the special the most which was the anchovy with salsa verde pate. The squid with the three different sauces was unique. The octopus tastes similar to the pulpo (octopus) dish you can find in Spain. The corn tostada had very little lobster but it did taste yummy.

We checked out this spot bc as it was listed on some sites and an up and coming spot, but tbh the food was average and felt overpriced for what it is. Okay ambiance, small and slightly over-packed feeling--typical of NYC, nothing to write home about. Friendly staff!

The menu also says it comes with house special dessert but we never gotten any. For any seafood, it's market price plus they add a 30% processing fee, which is strange to me. For a Chinese restaurant which usually does not charge tax if you pay with cash, they charge tax here whether you pay by card or cash. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious. The oysters came our looking phenomenal with a presentation that made me want to dig right in. Everything about these oysters are perfection. They are fresh, shucked with care so they retain their brine, they are a good size and taste phenomenal. The accompaniments on the platter are amazing. Cocktail sauce with freshly grated horseradish, a cucumber hot sauce that adds both heat and texture, a fat, generous wedge of lemon cut with Max juiciness in mind. This is one of the best oyster happy hours in Brooklyn by a mile and I say this with absolutely no exaggeration! Tucked in the quiet end of Red Hook right by the water, is Brooklyn Crab - a lively, coastal shanty themed restaurant serving up some seafood favorites... but on a cold day in early February the abandoned and frozen tiki bar downstairs and the residue of snow salt on the staircase leading to the restaurant only served as a faint reminder of brighter, sunny days that await us this summer in New York. I plopped myself on the bar seating as cold gushes of air swept in with the opening door. The heating was struggling but so were we - it really was just that cold. However dire these conditions were, I was here for my weekly ritual - two dozen oysters on the half shell. Trish the bartender was a great sport. We chit chatted about the weather and her California upbringing and everything in between. She was great company and a delight to talk to. When the oyster platter arrived I was met with instant joy. Nicely sized oysters, neatly shucked, briny and beautiful with the accompaniments I like. A cold glass of beer I had been slowly working on in the background. They only have the $1 Sunday oyster happy hour during the winter months. Staff simply can't keep up with the shucking when it's busier. Couldn't get a dining room seating, but managed to secure counter seats to enjoy the open kitchen concept. Our server Jordan was immensely helpful with his recommendation and service. We decided to follow most of his recommendations and ordered: COLD LOCAL OYSTERS (12): Refreshing and slightly briny. Each oyster was shucked well and made it easy to slurp. It paired very nicely with the vinaigrette and they provided plentiful of the horseradish. I did find these somewhat pricey at 4$ per oysters. CHARGRILLED OYSTERS (6): Notably what they're known for and for darn good reason. These oysters were thicc and flavors came very close to the ones I've tried from NOLA. They were seasoned well with the herbaceous butter concoction. Half a dozen was the perfect amount for us because they were indulgent and meaty. ARCTIC CHAR CRUDO: I could've done without this. This was a bit too rich for my liking. The richness of the aioli + cilantro pesto amplified the fat content of the Arctic Char. Felt like I was swallowing a spoonful of cream and the flavors didn't exactly mesh well. CRAB DIRTY RICE: Loaded with with crab and very easy to share. The dill balanced out the heaviness of the rice and the char bits gave it a very enjoyable texture. I was content with the amount of crab in the dish, but I did wish it added a little more flavor to the dish. MIRLITON SOM TAM: This chayote salad was a fan-favorite. Usually with these salads, I find the seasoning too overpowering or the fruit too ripe, but this salad managed to hit the nail in all categories. The sauce wasn't too spicy or sour, but balanced out the woody flavor profile of the chayote. The fried shallot and cashews added a nice crunch to the dish. BREAD PUDDING: The restaurant offers complimentary bread pudding at the end of the meal and I was looking forward to this the most. The bread pudding was decadent and sweet. I loved how the sweetness of the icing balanced out with hints of cinnamon. Although, I did feel like it needed something like ice cream for it to be the cherry on top. Overall, this is a very cute spot with stellar service and some memorable dishes. Wouldn't find myself here often, but wouldn't mind coming back if I'm in the area.
