Located at the Moanalua Shopping center where they have a lot of dinning places and retail stores and lots of parking. First trying Peppers lunch and when you enter you need to go to the counter after looking and deciding what you want to order, then go to the order counter and place your order and you need to pay by charge card only into the order machine. After placing your order you get a number disk that you place on your table, then they will bring you your order and water and drinks that you ordered. I had the Angus diced beef plate which came out sizzling and you need to mix the beef and vegetables while adding a Garlic sauce or Sweet sauce depending what you want. Service was very fast and they serviced the tables occasionally checking if you need anything. Restaurant was clean and after customer left they picked up all the dishes and wiped down the tables. 1 Restroom shared by all, so make sure to knock before entering and lock the door after entering, it was very clean with seat covers and soap and towels.

Loved everything about this place! I really like how your meal is served in a sizzling hot plate, so it stays hot while you eat. I tried the beef pepper rice, and it was amazing! It was peppery, just like the name suggests. The pasta dishes looked delicious too, so I'll definitely be back to try one next time. Highly recommend!

I was so excited to try here after trying it years ago in Japan. Unfortunately it's definitely not as good as Japan. I got the classic one and it came out nice and hot but the meat wasn't that great service was good and quick. You order first at the screen and then sit down wherever there's an open seat.

I've heard lots of good things about pepper lunch in the mainland and on island, so I was looking forward to trying it when it came to Honolulu. It's a bit inconvenient way for me but since they had a bogo free promotion I thought it was the best time to try it! As someone who cooks casually at home, I did think it tasted good but it is an easy thing to make and probably cheaper to do so. Also, for both the bowls we got, we had cartilage, which was weird to me because it was thinly sliced beef. To end on a more positive note, I thought their brown sauce was very delicious and the workers there were very diligent. I saw the wait staff, management, and kitchen working very hard and as fast as they could, as it was very busy. This is a place where you go when you're looking for a quick meal that isn't fast food!

Stopped by as a party of 6 for lunch on a Monday around 11am. We were able to get one of the few larger tables and sit together. You order at a kiosk and they bring your food to the table. The place did fill up fast around 1130am with almost every table taken. The food was good! I've eaten at pepper lunch in many different countries so it's nice to see it made its way to Oahu. They have special sides and desserts which were nice. I gave the onion rings a try. Parking is available in the shopping center but during lunch hours it can get a bit busy. Overall it was a good experience! I'm glad they opened a shop in Hawaii.

Pepper Lunch has been open since December of 2025 in the Moanalua Shopping Center on Valkenburgh Street. A Tokyo-based fast-casual restaurant chain. I finally decided to make my initial visit as they just recently began offering takeaway. Pepper Lunch sells its concept as a DIY teppanyaki experience; but I'm a single-guy and convenience is more of a priority. So, I missed having still raw meat / seafood on a 500 degree farenheit electric plate served to your plate, but walked in a little early at the 1130p pickup time and got my meal already bagged sitting on the front counter. I have to say my Jumbo Beef Pepper with egg ( an addition ) was delicious if underwhelming in presentation. The beef is certified Angus and served with garlic butter and corn. There is a lot of pepper mixed in...as one might expect. Normally, you would order on a touch display at the front counter. Perhaps another day. They were busy on this Wednesday lunch rush. They are open from 1030a till 900p everyday. Lots of stalls in the Moanalua Shopping Center but it also gets busy during oeak hours. Two entranceways and exits on both Valkenburgh aa d Warden Ave. They have plans for new locations in Waikiki and Kapahulu.

We decided to give the beef pepper rice a try and it was not bad! It was also nice that they offered the option to add an egg to the order. The food wasn't too salty, it had the right amount of flavor. We were impressed that the food stayed pretty hot after about 20 minutes into eating! Make sure to mix your food once you get it, that way everything can be cooked well. Service was good as well.

Heard about this place but wanted to avoid the hype and the crowd. I remember when there was a line to get into this place not too long ago. Now that the hype is done had to check this place out. We arrived at 4:30 p.m. and of course it wasn't that busy missing the dinner rush on a Friday night. The restaurant is located A couple doors down From Ruby Tuesdays and Baskins & Robbins. The restaurant is not very big it is of course air conditioned and it has wooden chairs and tables (pic) I would guess it could probably seat around 40 to 50 people inside. It even has an in-house bathroom which was pretty clean. The protocol to order and sit is different. You can either find your seat and reserve it by having another person sit while you order or "kapu" it by leaving something on it. You then have to order through the kiosk and then assign a numbered electronic indicator. I Tell you the kind of messed up thing was on completing your order they have it set at 15% 18% 20% tip or custom and this is while you are ordering on your own through a kiosk yikes!! . Once you complete your order you put your indicator on the table and when your order is ready the staff will bring it out to you. The staff two girls and a young guy were super cool and I thought the customer service was awesome and they were friendly. The menu consisted of rice bowls consisting of beef or salmon etc and they even have premium Meats which is a lot more and they had some curries as well (Pic menu). They also had a beef kimchee bowl but wasnt sure how hot the kimchee was so didnt want to chance it... I not korean so played it safe and went with the combo beef salmon bowl $20 The food comes out on a sizzling platter and you mix the raw beef and it cooks on the sizzling plate with rice and corn and you eat it that way. A somewhat different dining experience. The menu items start at $16 and up depending on what you order. The portions was okay not too big not too small. They also had a sweet sauce and garlic sauce to add to your meal and I added a lot but in my opinion the meal was still on the bland side it needed alot more flavor!. The portions was okay and I thought it was kind of pricey for just rice and a little bit of meat. Would I try here again probably not just because they use margarine and not butter and margarine is almost like eating plastic but anyways not a bad experience cool friendly staff....More on the pricey side but definitely worth trying once.

Pepper Lunch located by the Pearl Harbor Commissary & Navy Exchange, was a delightful surprise. It's conveniently situated across from Panda Express and next to Starbucks, though the small sign might go unnoticed. Parking is ample, but be prepared to share it with other food establishments and businesses. They had a touch-screen ordering system, which was straightforward. After paying, we picked up a number buzzer and chose our seating. Place had a good amount of seating and it was good that they also provided high chairs. The beef & shrimp combo and beef & salmon combo were both incredibly delicious. The flavors were so satisfying and flavorful that we were pleasantly surprised by their quality. Once your plate arrives, it's extremely hot, so immediately mix your ingredients on the hot black skillet and savor the experience. We devoured the entire plate, especially since it was our first meal of the day. To complement our main course, we ordered sweet potato fries and chicken. Pepper Lunch is highly recommended, and we're already planning our next visit to explore the rest of their menu.

It's a casual quick-service type restaurant located in Moanalua Center. This is my family's second time eating here for dinner, and we love it! The first time we came here for dinner, they had just opened for a few weeks. There was a queue line outside, but we didn't have to wait long to be seated at a table of 4. When we entered, someone showed us to our table. You order at a kiosk, so it's a quick and easy process. There are also options to add extra ingredients to any dish. Service has been good, even when they were busy. There are also two sauces on the table to add to your dish, sweet brown sauce or garlic soy. Our favorite dishes to order so far are the chicken creamy pasta and the pepper beef rice. There are also two sauces on the table to add to your dish, sweet brown sauce or garlic soy. Happy Eating!

Food was good, but just not the restaurant for me personally. It is more of an experience thing in my opinion. You order the food, and it comes served uncooked on a hot plate, so you mix it around and wait for it to cook in front of you. I personally like my food served ready to eat, but other people don't and that's okay! The service was great though, very nice and helpful workers here. We ordered the shrimp tempura, french fries, Chicken Pepper lunch, Beef with Cream Pasta. And we liked the chicken option better!

Simple food done right! Place your order using the kiosks at the front of the restaurant. You can choose from a variety of items on the menu. My favorite is the hamburger curry with a side of mushrooms.

Oops! I forgot to take a photo of the food!! Well, you can tell it was delicious!!

Had another great experience at Tanaka of Tokyo Ala Moana! I've been to this location many times…read moreover the years, and it's always been a fun place to celebrate a special occasion. We arrived for the first seating when they opened at 5:00 PM, although they wouldn't seat us until our entire party had arrived. Once we were seated, the evening got underway and it was great to see several other parties celebrating birthdays and other special occasions as well. For my entrée, I ordered the Daimyo, which featured their Certified Angus Beef Petite Filet, Lobster Tail, and Scallops. It was absolutely amazing! Everything was cooked to perfection. Moist, tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Definitely an entree I'd order again. I also added the garlic fried rice, which was a great complement to the meal. One area that could use some attention is the overall cleanliness. Given the many years this location has been in service, it could definitely benefit from a thorough deep cleaning and some freshening up. Overall, it was a great meal and an awesome way to celebrate my friend's birthday. The food and the teppanyaki experience made for another memorable evening at Tanaka of Tokyo.

He let us sit at the bar while we were waiting for our table. While at the bar, the bartender, Alex greeted us with the same energy along with a handsome smile. He made sure we felt at home by offering us any drinks before being seated at our, he also spoke to us like friends rather than a customer which is really reflective of the Aloha spirit. Getting to the table, we were greeted by our server Ed, who sounded very genuine with his service, you can tell he really cares about what he does, and definitely takes pride in his work! Now for the chef...We were so Blessed to get, the Head Chef, Scott! When he rolled in, he greeted our table with such big smile and amazing energy. His show? Phenomenal!! Food? Amazing!! He was able to get the table to interact with each other and just really bring out the Aloha spirit, that "Head Chef" title was definitely earned! I do wanna mention the other staff members that checked on the table during our dinner. They checked on the table with such noticeable presence, I believe it was another manager, Eduard. And a Chef in gray coat, he looked like the gentleman on the poster board. I believe his name is Jacob. Great Job Tanaka of Tokyo! Highly recommend this restaurant if you wanna feel at home and have an amazing experience. They really set the ambiance very well with the lighting and the staff.

We both agreed this was probably the best tempura we've ever had. The batter was always PERFECT: super light & never oily & everything was cooked to be tender & juicy. It was actually a lot of food like for the last 4 rounds I was giving my partner half of mine cuz I was so stuffed. He was really full too! So def worth the $$

The lunch omakase was $78 and it came with 10pc nigiri, miso soup, and dessert. But I the chef gave us a little more food that wasn't part of the menu I believe which was really nice. Highlights from the omakase were the mackerel, chutoro, otoro, uni (omg this was so sweet and creamy), and scallop nigiri. The miso soup was pretty flavorful and not too salty. For dessert we ended with a yuzu sorbet which was really good super light and refreshing . Would definitely come here again

Making a reservation for teppanyaki was really easy, and the restaurant manager and our server Jin Jin made the experience unforgettable. They were so accommodating to my request and worked with me to prepare a surprise for my husband, which we all enjoyed. Thank you! The restaurant is a no-frill but simple and elevated dining experience, and it felt like we were making our escape from kitschy tourist traps. I've been to other teppanyaki restaurants in my time, and Suntory focuses more on the quality of the food and service. There is no onion tower or chefs throwing shrimps in your mouth, which was exactly what we wanted- we wanted a nice dining experience and not a tourist entertainment spot. One thing that I noticed at Suntory is that their teppanyaki areas are situated in a way that there are 2 grills per section, one grill for 4 people. I saw that there were sections of 1 grill for 8 people to cater to large groups too, but having a smaller grill to share with another couple made the dining experience more intimate. Lastly, order their garlic fried rice!
