The asian fusion burritos and potato steak rolls are good here. The Steak rolls are thinly sliced potatoes and thin slices of beef, comes with rice. The house sauce is a delicious creamy aioli/mayo based sauce that pairs well with the burritos. Both the kalbi and short rib burritos are delicious and a decent size. The red hot sauce they give on the side is so good too. Is a little pricey but since this is Hawaii, the prices are as expected. This is a popular spot in The Lanai food court at Ala Moana, it's the smaller food court near Macy's. Service is usually good, a couple of times the older lady at the front had a very hard time understanding our order but other folks have been efficient and quick. The wait is longer because they do cook the food to order and since it is popular there is a short wait. Still recommend, give them a try. read more

About 20 years ago this restaurant (different name then) was on Kaheka St. I worked in Pearl City then and someone would drive all the way to town to pick up our food. There was only street parking so someone always accompanied the driver to run and pick up our orders. We all loved it. Must of to drive all the way in town. While I've been to The Lanai many times, I guess I never looked at their menu closely because I didn't realize it was the same place. After the Kaheka restaurant was closed (I heard Kevin and his wife were divorcing) and I never saw it when it was rumored to be in the food court. So I was really happy to find it again. While it initially seemed the same, it's not. The potato isn't rolled like it used to be. Before I could pick it up like a toquito with my chopsticks. Now it's like meat draped over the potatoes, much messier to eat. And there isn't a choice between brown and white rice (only white). But I still love their garlic chips over the meat. Overall, the nostalgic appeal was nice but my overall reaction- meh. read more

One of hubs fave bites...rib eye bowl. He should have frequent flyer points! He shared his bowl with me and I too loved this. I dont eat much red meat but when when I do I want the beef tender and delish...which this is! Love the crisp of the garlic chips! Brought back a bottle of this from Korea! They add a cup of sauce which is light & tasty. You dont need much as the beef is already seasoned. Brought my sis and some GFs to try and they also loved it. Great for a yummy beef bowl lunch! Its not super fast food because anything delish takes a little time. Be patient, its worth it! read more

Love burritos from Teppanyaki Farmer!!! Our ongoing search for tasty burtitos brought us here, since this is a favorite choice of my better half. Find TF in The Lanai, an above average food court on the mall level of Ala Moana Center near Macy's. We were warmly greeted at the counter by friendly staff who helped us with our order. Such a great way to start! Enjoyed our burritos - definitely a hana hou experience! Ample seating available in The Lanai. You may have a very brief wait for a table during prime dining times. read more

Best go-to lunch spot! I adore this unique combination of thinly sliced steak wrapped around julienned potatoes. The flavor combination is great and I always get this when I go to Ala Moana. There's a burst of flavor from the seasoning of the meat and the mild yet crunchy texture of the potatoes. They're also very fast when making it too :) read more

I've had lunch here a few times, but had yet to try their burritos, instead opting for the boneless Kalbi plate or bowl. My daughter and SIL loves getting them, so I decided to try one this time. I gotta admit, they're really packed (although it could use a bit more meat) and the taste is good. Although it's a bit pricey at $20, it's huge, so for me, will last at least 2 or 3 meals, lol. The combination of savory meat, together with soft rice and cheese, and the crunch from slightly sweet and sour pickled veggies, is a great taste. Everything is made to order, so it can take some time depending on how busy they are; typically it'll take around 10 minutes. If you don't mind the wait (and the price), Teppanyaki Farmer is a great dining option. read more

My hubby was so excited to try this place but unfortunately was still starving after eating his famous steak roll. Portion size was small so if you're hungry think about ordering two. Taste was decent but for the price, I would bypass this and head to the ramen place located in the same food court. read more

Teppanyaki Farmer is on my "safe" list meaning when I'm in doubt of what to eat, I can always rely on having a good meal here. The steak roll is my go-to and it never disappoints. The cost has gone up over the years, but so has everything else. I still believe they give a good amount of food and the quality is still there, despite what some other reviews state. The wait can be long when they are busy, but the workers are generally pleasant and helpful. read more

Not gonna lie, the smells lured me into to Teppenyaki Farmer and they delivered! Not only the smells but the line as well, it was one of the few stalls with a line of people for dinner. Line to order was quick, wait for food was moderate but they were churning and burning the orders. I got the Da Original Steak Roll plate and holy cannoli, it's a lot of food! I wasn't sure what to expect but really dug the hidden potatoes, just wish there was more options for sauce since it only comes with one. A little on the pricier side but it is meat and solid quality as well! Oh how the food court scene has evolved ever since my teen years of Bourbon St Chicken and Sbarro! read more

This is the perfect spot for your hungry meat-loving family members! We came here for the teppanyaki steak over rice. Although on the pricier side (over 20 for a classic beef roll with tax and tip), portions are hefty with lots of beef atop a bed of lettuce with two scoops of rice on the size. You can choose different toppings (we did garlic chips on one and sriracha on the other) which add to the flavor, garlic was the clear winner tho. The ponzu sauce on the side definitely cuts through the oiliness and makes the meal a surprisingly light choice. We split two meals between three people and it was the perfect amount. read more

Been eating here from back in the day when it was called Taes . So yummy! Love the thinly sliced meat and shredded potato. And the ponzu!

Teppenyaki is located in Lanai food court at Ala Moana Shopping Center by Macy's! Their restaurant is tucked in the corner next to Brug Bakery. We stopped by over the weekend and got their boneless Kalbi plate for $17.90. The plate came with a generous serving of boneless kalbi on a bed of romaine lettuce, topped with an egg (your way) and garlic chips. The meat was perfectly seasoned, tender and juicy. The garlic chips are optional but they're also my favorite part! While the plate was super delicious, I think the best deal is their boneless kalbi bowl. For $4.50 less, you can get the same amount of meat, minus the lettuce and extra scoop of rice. Do I smell a deal? I sure do! The service is fast and friendly. We'll be back soon to try their steak. If you plan on dining in the food court, try to avoid lunch time on a weekend lol. Seating is plentiful, but hard to come by during rush hour. read more

So this place is in the food court by Macy's at Ala Mona. It was my first time trying this place it wasn't that busy but looked interesting. I ordered the steak roll it was one of the popular ones so I decided to try it. I got it with extra sauce which was bbq I didn't expect it to be an actual roll style with salad underneath. I'd give this 0 stars. Ordered steak roll with garlic chips and it was the most disappointing steak plate I have ever had! There was absolutely no flavor and I mean absolutely none! The potato was undercooked and was like eating daikon. Even the potato had no flavor. You would have at least salt it or something. The garlic chips were stale. Instead, I had to rely on that dipping sauce they gave. I don't know who would even say this plate is good. The rice with the sauce tasted better than the steak. That's how tasteless it was. Staff were not friendly and it took long for the food. Even after waiting so long, they still couldn't fully cook the potato. This is definitely not worth the $23 at all. Waste of money. You might as well go buy your own thin meat and cook it yourself. Anything would have tasted better than this. Food court is also crowded. read more

We were looking for a place for lunch and decided to go with the beef roll. I've had this before and wanted to eat it again. The beef roll are several thin slices of beef rolled with shredded potato on the inside of it and cooked over the grill. It is served with white rice or with brown rice for an additional charge and with toss salad but no dressing. It comes with some ponzu sauce and additional toppings if wanted (fried garlic chips, wasabi sauce, spicy sauce, and bbq sauce). I decided to get the garlic chips and initially wanted some hot sauce, but I opted for no additional sauce because I thought the ponzu sauce would have been enough flavor. The garlic chips were bitter and not like other garlic chips I've had that enhance the flavor. It was so bitter that I had to remove them from my food. The hot sauce added more flavor to the beef roll. The cashier was initially nice. I got seated to eat and took a bite into my food but the ponzu sauce did not add much flavor so I went back to order some hot sauce. I walked up to the counter and asked for some hot sauce and another cashier said that they didn't have any. I told him that the other employee who initially helped me (who was standing behind him) had told me earlier that I could have some but that it would be an additional charge for the container. The cook then told me to bring my plate to him and I kindly asked for it on the side. The employee who initially took my order then came up to me and proceeded to tell me that I told her earlier that I didn't want hot sauce. I told yes but changed my mind and now would like to buy some. She got upset and walked away. I then had to explain to the cashier one more time that I wanted some hot sauce and was willing to pay for it, mind you I had money in my hand. Another employee filled a plastic container with some siracha. I was charged $0.52 for the hot sauce which was fine. The employee who initially took my order didn't even want to hand me the hot sauce. She made another employee hand it to me. I couldn't believe what just happened when all I wanted was some hot sauce for my food. This restaurant offers order only and is located in the Lanai Food Court at Ala Moana Center just outside of Macy's. It is in the corner near the restrooms. It is a little loud in there but acceptable due to it being a food court. The food was just okay and didn't have much flavor. The service was not acceptable. I'm not sure if they thought I didn't want to pay for the hot sauce but I was more than willing to pay and knew that there was a charge. I don't know if I will return as the food was not great and the service was not great and so disappointing. read more

Yes, I know, it's technically just meat and potatoes. Although the dish is simple enough, it is just so good. The meat is lightly seasoned with salt and pepper, thinly sliced, and wrapped around potato strings. The potato still has a bit of a crisp to it, even after grilled. It's really the garlic chips with the ponzu sauce that elevate the dish for me. I could eat this over and over again. I also like their kimchee pork roll. It still comes with the potatoes inside. I order this when I need a little more of a kick (or when I've ordered the steak roll too many times in a month). I haven't tried any of the other items, as I've been stuck craving the steak and pork rolls. Picky eater note: if you're like me, you'll want dressing with the lettuce and not eat it with the roll (I eat my lettuce separate). Pre-COVID you can ask for dressing and they have a thousand island dressing. Not sure if they still have it though. read more

When eating at the mall I usually gravitate to a few places I know well. Today, I decided to try something new. Teppanyaki Farmer caught my eye because I was in the mood for something fresh and flavorful. I went with the shrimp burrito. When you order you get to choose your protein, white or brown rice, and the sauce. I chose dynamite and because I like it spicy I also went with the optional jalapenos! I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful this was. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and there was a good amount of texture with the rice and greens. My food came out quickly. The burrito is really big. I was only able to finish off half of it. Saving the rest for dinner! read more

Teppanyaki Farmer is located in the Ala Moana Lanai Food Court, right next to Macy's (this is the old school Shirokiya location from way back when), on the 2nd floor. It's in the back left corner next to the restrooms when looking from the Macy's side. This is their business page from the Ala Moana directory: https://www.alamoanacenter.com/en/directory/teppanyaki-farmer-21928.html . Follow them on IG @teppanyakifarmer. The word teppanyaki comes from the word "teppan 鉄板", which means 'iron plate' and the word "yaki 焼き", which means 'grilled' or 'pan-fried'. I've seen my friend get the "Da Original Steak Rolls" plate from here a few times before. I've always wondered if I should try it... I decided to get myself a plate. Total came out to about $17 and some change. They offer canned drinks for sale, no fountain sodas. The wait for my order was within reason, I really liked that everything is made to order. I'm willing to wait longer for something cooked fresh and hot. Workers are pleasant and friendly. This dish features thin slices of ribeye steak that's grilled on the teppan. Then a generous portion of potato strings are wrapped inside the ribeye slices to cook. The steak roll is placed on top a bed of lettuce ("tossed greens") in the main portion of the plate. Two scoops of white rice fill the other 2 slots on the plate. They offer brown rice for an addition up-charge. Toppings for the steak roll include garlic chips. And a choice or combinations of 3 sauces: wasabi, spicy (sriracha), and BBQ. A container of ponzu dipping sauce is also included. I opted for just the wasabi sauce. It's pretty strong and some parts are way way wasabi concentrated. Lol... like sinus clearing level of wasabi. I like wasabi though so that was alright ;D I liked that the beef and potatoes aren't seasoned as to showcase the authentic flavors and freshness of each item. The ponzu sauce paired perfectly with the rice, beef and potatoes. It also helped to dilute the wasabi sauce a smidge. I also got to try the spicy sauce version and it reminded me a lot of sriracha. This might be a good option for someone who enjoys spicy but not the wasabi variety. I'm sure the BBQ sauce is also delicious... I guess I'll have to conduct further research/ sample another plate... just to be sure ;o lol. read more

Every single time I'm at Ala Moana, I have to stop at Teppanyaki Farmers. It's not just a favorite.. it's a full-blown obsession. No matter how many food options are around, this place wins every time. Let's talk about that juicy ribeye steak. It's thick, tender and grilled to perfection right in front of you. So flavorful, buttery and packed with garlicky goodness...it's melt in your mouth amazing and the crispy garlic chips on top? Total game changer. I'd buy a jar of those if I could. But the real MVP might just be the boneless Kalbi bowl with egg. Sweet, savory and ridiculously tender. No bones, no fuss... just pure flavor. Top it with a runny egg and a handful of garlic chips and you've got yourself a next level bowl of happiness. It's everything you didn't know you needed in a food court meal. The portions are generous, everything's cooked fresh teppan-style and the flavors are always on point. Whether it's your first time or your fiftieth, it never disappoints. So yeah... if you're at Ala Moana and not grabbing a plate here, you're doing it wrong. Get the steak, get the Kalbi, double the garlic chips and thank me later. read more

Really want to love this place. But when you charge $18-$20 for a burrito, be prepared for honest feedback. The taste of the short rib is quite good. The teppanyaki style retains the flavor of the meat without drying it out. And the portion is large. You definitely don't feel cheated. But there were a few drawbacks: - Dynamite sauce: It tasted more like Thousand Island dressing than a spicy mayo dynamite sauce I was expecting. Had I known this, I would've opted for different sauce, but honestly I should've eaten this without any sauce since the short rib was actually quite delicious. - Lettuce: Might be minor, but the type of lettuce used may have impacted the quality of the dish. It was a green lettuce used in a sandwich. Problem with this is that combined with the sauce, it makes it really soggy. I found myself picking the lettuce out of the burrito. There's a reason why many burrito spots use iceberg lettuce (if they use lettuce at all). Iceberg lettuce doesn't make the burrito soggy. Using a different type of lettuce doesn't enhance the taste, but can ruin the burrito. Last thing you want is a soggy burrito, courtesy of the lettuce. Onions: They are a bit stringy. Again, a minor ingredient that negatively impacts I'd try this again, but if I were getting a burrito, I'd ask for no lettuce and no sauce. Can't let the minor ingredients impact the overall quality of an otherwise tasty dish. But if you are charging $20 for a burrito, these details need to be cleaned up. read more
