First time eating at Peppers Lunch today, and I was seriously impressed. The entire place was spotless--from the front of the house to the kitchen, which is open and visible. Everything looked clean, organized, and well-maintained, even the restrooms. We ordered during a busy lunch rush, so we expected a bit of a wait--but our food came out in about 5 minutes! That alone blew us away. The service was just as great. The waitresses were attentive and consistently checked in to see if we needed refills or anything else. As for the food--absolutely delicious and served piping hot (fair warning: don't dig in too fast or you'll burn your tongue ). Overall, an awesome experience. We'll definitely be back! read more

Was super excited to try this new place. Surprised at how small the store was - with very limited number of seats/tables - and so we had to wait outside in line for 20 minutes. Staff comes outside to ask how many is in our party - we say 3. She looks inside and says, "we have two (high top tables) - did you want to split your group?" Ummm... we're a party of 3. So one person sits and eats alone while the other two sit together? We said no, all of us want to sit together - and was told it would be 5-10 min (it was actually about 20 minutes) When we finally got in to sit, we were sent to a kiosk to purchase our oder. The kiosk wasn't working (screen was frozen, could not order) so we stood there not being able to order. We had to flag a worker and she took our order at the register. It's conveniently situated across from Panda Express and next to Starbucks, though the small sign might go unnoticed. Parking is ample, but be prepared to share it with other food establishments and businesses. They had a touch-screen ordering system, which was straightforward. After paying, we picked up a number buzzer and chose our seating. Place had a good amount of seating and it was good that they also provided high chairs. The beef & shrimp combo and beef & salmon combo were both incredibly delicious. The flavors were so satisfying and flavorful that we were pleasantly surprised by their quality. Once your plate arrives, it's extremely hot, so immediately mix your ingredients on the hot black skillet and savor the experience. We devoured the entire plate, especially since it was our first meal of the day. To complement our main course, we ordered sweet potato fries and chicken. Our first time at Pepper Lunch...easy-to-order kiosk. Study the menu before you get there to be courteous of those in line behind you. We went on a Sunday at 4pm and there was no line. The line started growing during our meal. Service is great and quick, the wait for our food was very short. The food is fresh and piping hot. It is pricey tho. Minus 1 star for 1) the sides are $2+ and the portions are small, 2) They offer 2 sauces which flavor the meal well but I wish they offered more types of sauces like teriyaki, yum yum or sweet and sour and 3) The pepper on the rice can be a bit overwhelming, perhaps offer different degrees of pepper. My biggest beef was the price you pay versus the quantity of food you receive. Each vegetable and/or topping that you add adds a other $2+ to the price--so things add up quickly. Food was brought out quickly with the exception of the karaage curry. The karaage was a little overcooked. The curry sauce was good flavor, but lacked depth. Came at 5 PM on a Thursday- finally, no Line. You walk in and there are several high tables for 2, and two seater tables 74 seater. We got their premium ribeye, which added mushrooms. You stand it line and wait for the server to tell you which is your table and you head straight to the self-serve kiosk. Once you order, you pay and sit at your table with a number. They quickly bring you your food. I've been to other Pepper Lunches and this one is small. However, they are fast and you get to eat shortly after. Currently, there is no take out available. Avoid parties of more than 4 if you can. The table layout accommodates 2-4 people and they have to push tables together to seat 5. The food is on the expensive side. It comes to you on a hot skillet and you essentially cook the food yourself. If you're not one to like this style of restaurant, this might not be the place for you. Still give it a try. The food quality is great. It's definitely not 5 star angus wagyu, but the experience and taste is great. You can customize each entree with a lot of add ons, including egg, mushrooms, garlic, cheese, etc. The staff is super friendly. Just knowing that you can create your own sizzle is a fun concept first of all knowing that you're getting something hot and crafted all by you. Yup and you order using the provided kiosk is easy you start with what base of rice or pasta with what type of protein which I choose beef and pasta and that's what comes with it all the pics you see are add one and that's where it can add up depending on what you'd like as I chose to add mushrooms and cheese and at $2.29 each I stopped there. You then pay and it won't take long for your order to arrive which was quite impressive and the sizzle itself was much more grand as it did go on for quite some time before it settles giving you enough time to capture that perfect pic but what I do love about it is the crust it gives as it sits in the hot skillet. I did get the Beef Aglio Olio Pasta which was yummy and the sauce came on the side making its grand entrance with the pour making it a fun interactive experience that I do see many do enjoy as well. You're paying for everything little thing, so to me, $2 for an egg or cheese is a little much. The service was good, you can tell they're doing their best to get people through. The hubby and I had lunch here today. The place was packed with a little wait. The service was excellent and the food was tasty. We got the chicken and beef pepper rice $19.99, salmon and beef pepper rice $19.99 with egg $2.49, sweet potato wedges $5.99 and a Tractor Strawberry Dragonfruit drink $3.99. You order your own food at the kiosk. They do not take cash. I love how the bowls came out sizzling with the ingredients inside. You can mix it and watch it cook. Either the manager or owner stopped by and gave us a tip about how to cook the food. He told us that there is butter inside of the rice, to push down and flatten that first. Then, mix in the proteins and sauce. I flattened out the rice and just let it brown for a bit, while I was mixing the proteins. When it had a bit of that crispy rice crust I mixed in the egg. Then, I added the sauces. They have two sauces: sweet brown and garlic soy. They were both good. I just mixed the two. The garlic soy was way more on the salty side. I was surprised to see Pepper Lunch made it to Aiea! We loved to eat here back in the Bay Area way back in the day. I'm not sure if the quality or vibe changed but this location seems more like a fast food vibe. You can order on screens, and friendly staff serve you. The food came out very quickly! The quality was so so. The beef was more delicious than the shrimp in our opinion. Our toddler loved the sizzling rice and corn combo and trying all the sauces. I think the taste was pretty good, I liked the crispy rice from the sizzling pan and the meat got nicely charred. There were a couple different sauces at the table which helped because the meat on its own doesn't have a lot of flavor. I think the portion sizes were disappointing for the price, my meal was around $18.50 after adding the egg and it was mostly rice with a pretty small portion of beef. Really cool concept. We all got the regular pepper rice but perhaps next time we will try the pasta because the pasta looked really good! Beware, given the name, everything is very peppery. Maybe there was an option to add no pepper or less pepper but we didn't see it. I wouldn't recommend the shrimp, as it becomes overcooked sitting on the plate if you don't eat it fast enough. I met up with some friends for lunch on 1/8/26 at around 12:45 pm. Luckily, we were next in line to be helped and were quickly shown to a table before heading to the kiosks to place our order. You place your order at the kiosk by choosing your protein (beef, chicken, etc.), deciding if you want it jumbo or not, adding toppings, selecting your drink, entering your phone number, name, and paying. After that, you take a table number and input it before sitting down. Once seated, we were given water, with refills throughout the meal. Within a few minutes, our sizzling hot plates arrived at the table. We all ordered the Beef Pepper Rice, and it came out hot, steaming, and sizzling. We mixed the thinly sliced beef into the rice and added the two sauces available at the table--a sweet sauce and a shoyu garlic sauce. Both added great flavor, and we especially loved how the rice became crispy as it continued to cook on the hot plate. Service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, refilled our water regularly, checked in on us, cleared our plates promptly, and even took several photos for our group, which we really appreciated. I'm very happy to see a part of my study abroad days come to Hawaii! I used to eat Pepper Lunch pretty frequently whenever we were at a food court in Hong Kong and I definitely missed it. It's crazy (but also not surprising) to see that there's still a decent line forming outside during the holidays. For a Friday night, I would say 15-20 min wait? The space is kinda small so if you have any big parties, you'll probably be separated. Ordering is pretty simple: Use the kiosk, get your table buzzer, and the food will be brought out to you! We got the Jumbo Beef Pepper Rice and the Creamy Shrimp Pasta - both were delicious! For the jumbo, there was more beef which was great but the rice ratio was a tad off so definitely a personal preference and you can add the sauces on the side to "zhuzh it up" as well. We were pleasantly surprised with the creamy pasta and I definitely would love to get it again or try out their Aglio Olio.
