Wow! This location knows how to provide impeccable customer service! I had a wonderful experience here even though I was in and out in under 5 minutes. The employees were SO kind, amicable, and friendly! My drink was made SO quickly. It was made perfectly, and I have zero complaints. This is a wonderful Peet's location and I will be sure to come back next time I'm in the area. Thanks, Peetniks! read more

I went to this location today and I understand it's Easter and some people might be upset that they have to work and can't spend time with their family ask for a Matcha ice latte with caramel sauce and I believe the wkrker accidentally put caramel syrup so when I asked her about my caramel sauce, she gave me a really bad attitude, and decided to make the whole drink all over again. I'm watching her make the drink and comparing the first one in the second one. She barely put any Matcha. She filled the whole cup up with milk with a teaspoon of Matcha. I always go to the San Leandro location and it's honestly a better location. This place the employees have a really bad attitude. If I'm paying six dollars for a drink you better believe it's something I actually want the correct way. read more

The young lady who works the front dark black hair, sometimes black lipstick and winged liner (her name tag was too low for me to read) has not only a bad attitude but can literally NEVER get the simplest drink order correct. This is a nice Peet's Coffee to visit. It's clean inside and has a nice location right on the corner. The staff are friendly and efficient. honestly, i've never had a bad experience at *any* peet's, but this is one of the best the staff is talented in their craft (and one can expect from peet's)--but more, they're fantastic people, people in whom the company and the city should take great pride. the staff here are the people you'd want to hang out with over (dare i say it?) coffee...or perhaps an adult beverage. the same can be said for the customers here. i've come to know many regulars and they're a fun and varied collection of individuals. it can sometimes be too busy as a quiet get-away, but it's dynamic and the energy doesn't just come from the caffeine, the tasty tasty caffeine! read more

Don't come here if you want your mood ruined. Staff very rude and inconsiderate. I planned to come here to work 5:30-7:00pm bought a coffee and planned to use the restroom. I asked before buying the coffee hey will the restroom be open cause I plan on sticking around and working for a while and if so ill check another place, the girl working said yes it will be open in 30. I came back in 40 minutes after I ordered my drink and worked and the dude on the cashier was like no you can't use it it's closed I don't care. They are still open for another hour and closing it which is fine, if they haven't told me a different story to begin with. Like treat people with some dignity and respect please. read more

This has been one of my regular coffee shops that I go to. But recently some of the staff has been somewhat obnoxious. Specifically a kid with tattoos and a big diamond in his ear their conversations in the back are obnoxious they're throwing empty cartons across the room into the trash. I asked for a vanilla latte with light milk and it seems like they poured extra milk in there I asked for an extra shot they did not include an extra shot of espresso, they gave me my turkey sandwich which wadisplaces . Went there and spent an easy 20 bucks even tip these guys and walked out feeling like my order was all screwed up and my business was not appreciated. read more

I'm not gonna lie I don't ever usually do this, but this pist me off. My husband ordered doordash with this Peets and I guess they didn't have the lunch he wanted. Instead of texting or calling me telling me that, they grabbed a bag with the sticker of the two things they didn't have and put cash in there. Obviously we're hungry and are expecting food, we would have cancelled the whole order if they didn't have that. Now I'm gonna go spend my money on some other place and pay for delivery AGAIN. this some bull. read more

I used to come here regularly years ago to visit with my best friend at the time. We'd spend an hour or two here chatting about various things. He died of cancer and I couldn't bring myself to visit here again until tonight. This cafe has even more seating than years ago and there's still the atmosphere of "stay as long as you'd like". I came in, had a hot chocolate, and did some writing about my deceased friend. Plenty of parking, good service, and plenty of seats. This is my favorite Peet's. I think I'll start coming here again even if alone. Tonight felt especially relaxing for me here. read more

Don't get me wrong, I love this location because it's bigger than most Peet's nearby and it's very convenient for me and I love the baristas here 90% of the time. I just came here tonight like 15 minutes ago because I was craving for a chai latte and when I got there, there were a bunch of kids who are getting tutored but I have nothing against them. Lol. Anyway, the staff tonight could use a little energy you know? Like, they all look tired and sad for some reason. Probably because it's almost closing time? And while I was almost ok to let that go, I just took a couple of sips of my chai and OMG it taste like freakin hot water with a little hint of ginger! I'm so pissed because I did not make an effort to actually go to the store just to have a mediocre drink. So get your shit together, CV baristas! - Aka the ones who are on duty today 11.15.18 at 7pm. This branch is finally trying out mobile orders after hella years and I got $2 off on my first mobile order so of course I tried to use the app.. But guess what? The app doesn't work! At least for android. It kept saying no basket or whatever. And my $2 off will expire soon so yeah. I hope they fix their app soon and I hope the baristas from tonight will improve. read more

The staff are always friendly. Sometimes the line is stretched all the way to the door, so expect to wait at least 20 minutes to get drinks and to get out the door (sometimes longer). But this isn't a place to be in a rush for your order at all. Make sure you have time before jumping in that line. Location is convenient since it's right off the freeway and in the Safeway shopping center (but sometimes parking can be a hassle). So again, should not be in a rush to get your order. Staff needs to not be so aggressive when they are called out on their mistakes, there's a kid with bad tattoos who messed up my drink and gave me attitude for it when he made the mistake? I asked for an iced drink and I was given a hot one, even though the sticker on my drink said iced white mocha with oat milk, And when I did get it iced it wasn't even made correctly, there was no oat milk. Taking one sip of this made me have horrible stomach cramps for the rest of the day. PS, they should also work on keeping their outside life and work life separate and not talk so loud about how the kid with tattoos is dating a coworker there. And if they want something to be so secret, maybe not talk about it so loud Just some friendly advice read more

The Castro Valley store is hands down the worst run Peet"s location in the East Bay. Whatever time window the app gives you after you place your mobile order, add 15-20 minutes for this S-L-OW location. Clearly the app is estimating based on normal Peet's location where the staff actually hustles. I have ordered three times during the new social distancing protocols. The first time I waited and waited and waited with the crowd of other people and when I eventually asked the cashier and she said, "Oh somebody must have taken yours" - ok, not their fault. Then I had to wait another 15 minutes for a pretty straightforward hot drink. Ok, kinda. Second time I figure I'd account for their slothful pace. We arrived 10 minutes after the time and the drinks weren't there. I inquired about my status in case it was taken again - "it's in" the cashier snapped at me. Ok. So we wait - another 12 minutes amongst a throng of marginally social distanced people. We received our drinks 22 minutes after the latest time quoted. Third time (I clearly love coffee or wouldn't bother) I waited so long that I asked to cancel my order - "ok, my manager will credit it to you," I was told. Well you know how this ends - no coffee, no refund, no stars. read more

Worst Peet's location I've ever experienced and worst of all, it's the closest location to my home. My drink was incorrect in every way. I'm allergic to milk and it was made with whole milk. 80% of the time I order from here, we experience some sort of issue. I returned to ask for my drink to be made correctly in a sea of about 20 frustrated customers standing outside, with a backlog of 30min. I was asked if I wanted a refund. No, i want the drink ordered. I asked for a small horchata oat milk latte with pumpkin syrup. The second time the drink was made with the correct milk, but the syrup was omitted. I can't help but feel as if this was to spite me. I'm so sick of this place. Do yourself a favor and go across the street the Pampas cafe where I have NEVER received an incorrect order. this Peet's Coffee is an aberration to my usual fab experiences at Peet's. it wasn't Peet's. it's the passing cars in the parking lot. too many cars entering/exiting. not friendly to pedestrians. didn't know if they would stop. so waved them to pass. brew: "big bang" first choice was out. - -my lst choice at Peet's is out 50% of the time. no problem as it's quickly made. -didn't wait as there was a line, picked what was available. -only one barrista on duty. drips: -numbering system is difficult to follow in the center. Saturdays is a shit show here. App says 2-7 minutes, but it actually takes 25-30 minutes to get your drink. That is not an exaggeration. People come in here and order a BAG of 15+ drinks which delays everyone else. Worst of all..they consistently mess up orders. I ask for my drink extra hot, it comes out lukewarm every time. That is because they let drinks sit without lids while they make all the other drinks. I ordered my wife's drink with no syrup, instead they put so much syrup in it that it becomes undrinkable. I can't even go back and complain because it would take forever to wait again. Yeah I don't think I'm ordering here again anytime soon. read more

Peet's is my go-to for a traditional cappuccino in CV. The staff always greets me with a smile, and the quality of my drink is always awesome. The remodeled environment is very nice, with ample seating, nice music, and good wi-fi. That being said, this is not Starbucks or McDonalds. The wait times can be inconsistent, both in line and for your drink to be prepared. If you are on a very tight schedule, you my want to settle for Starbucks, which is very near by. If you want to relax with a fantastic traditional cappuccino , I think this is a great place. read more

I'm seriously thinking about boycotting all Pete's locatins now. I came here for the first time back in November 2013, it's now January 2014 and they still have not either replaced or repaired their chairs. I don't get it... I like Peet's Coffee, and would give the coffee chain 4 stars, due to good coffee. However, this particular shop, as a place to work, is 3 stars. The WiFi is slow, there are limited outlets, and it's pretty crowded, although a lot of empty space with no tables. As a side note, I'm discovering Castro Valley is somewhat lacking in good coffee shops for working/studying. I'm talking about good coffee, fast WiFi, plenty of tables, clean interior, pleasant atmosphere, Castro Valley Coffee Shops: Cornerstone Coffee Brewing Co (small, flies, hot) Cafe 4 (fits the bill, except my VPN doesn't connect) Peets Coffee (took few outlets, crowded, slow WiFi) Valley Java Organic Coffee & Tea (expensive, no outlets, not WiFi before 12, limited seating) Pampas Cafe (no WiFi, limited seating) read more

Holy crap, be careful when placing an order for delivery! Ordered from app and food when food was delivered it wasn't at the door, driver likely dropped it off at the wrong address, which isn't really a problem, it happens. The problem was contacting Peet's to resolve the problem. Customer service is terrible and seems designed that way. App is impossible to make contact with a representative and it took over an hour on hold to reach someone then another 30 minutes on the phone. It was ridiculous and I almost gave up, but it was a $30 order. Please DO NOT ORDER ONLINE. BEWARE! read more

I don't normally get my coffee here, but during the holidays, they have really nice coffee gift packs/boxes. With both coffee and sweets, you can always find something to gift a coffee lover (teas too)! When I do get a drink, I wouldn't be in a rush since either they put some TLC into my drink... or there's a buddy in the back? I'd like to think the espresso machine runs fairly quick. Final Thoughts: This shop is fairly large so it's nice to sit in here to have a drink. Baristas are very friendly and great to chat with, just not when there's a line. read more

I love this Peet's spot! It is my go to spot for studying or meeting with friends for a quick drink and chat. The staff moves quickly and are always friendly-- even when you aren't awake at those early morning rushes. They consistently make good cups and I've seen them redo things for people without hesitation. It is quaint and cozy and I enjoy watching folks come and actually sit and engage with each other without the electronic distractions. There are groups I see meet regularly to catch up and talk politics, family life, and past stories. I like this location simply because I rarely have an issue finding a spot to sit. Only issue would be lack of outlets if you want to be long term for work related things or study groups. Parking is also tight as it is shared with the grocery store and other local businesses. Although, even with all this I still return! Happy drinking! read more

HOT and THIRSTY! That was the feeling before going in Peet's. Decided to get something to drink and was at this plaza with Starbucks in Safeway and Peet's. Can't remember when the last time I was at a Peet's so decided to go there. There was a couple in line when I came in. Even though the lady had to use the restroom while her partner waited, they were still helped as quickly as possible. As they left, my dad, my bros and myself were greeted with a smile. We took a bit longer to order since we didn't know what to get for my lil bro. We weren't rushed howsoever. We were given a suggestion for my lil bro for a decaf Freddo when we just asked for a chocolate milk and we were happy about the suggestion. We had 2 iced mochas, 1 coconut mocha freddo (which had a $1 off Yelp check-in offer which I saw after we ordered, oh well,) and a decaf dark chocolate freddo. Service was lightning fast. Not much wait. Got drinks less than 7 minutes-ish. Then we got to drink. I was happy with the coconut mocha freddo and the iced mochas were said to be just a-okay. I don't know about my lil bro but his freddo appeared to be "iced-down." Ice made it a-hint-of-dark-chocolate freddo. But when it began to melt, it became a dark chocolate freddo again. There was free Wi-Fi and outdoor seating. Some tables were sticky and the floor is not clean. They emptied the trash bins before it was full so they obviously have some kind of standards. Anyways, 2 stars for the great drinks. 1 star for free WiFi. 1 star for excellent quick and friendly service. -half star for my lil bro's dissatisfaction with the dark choco freddo and -half star for a better cleanliness standards. FOUR-STAR experience. read more

The coffee has been consistently not good. I've been giving this place a try for over a month now. Been ordering dark roast in the morning and 4/4 it taste like water and can't taste the coffee and I drink black! Ordered the white mocha it's watered down. Caramel macchiato bitter and taste burnt. I am going to try it one more time before I delete the app. It's just have been a waste money over and over.
