A creamy frothed small and hot, just regular coffee.

CARE FOR FROTH? Are you bored of same regular coffee, cream n sugar you get every morning? Try Seattle's Best in Hayward at Southland Mall. It sure is an awesome morning treat in itself. Why? Because, as you can see from the image I took of it. IT'S FROTHED!! I came here right before pandemic happened, and that surprised me when they served my regular coffee well frothed for only couple of bucks. It made me sooo happy. But then I thought they made a mistake and a lucky day for me. But the charges didn't change- still $2.50. I felt kinda overwhelmed, though not exaggerating. I've been trying to go back, but sadly, like most of business, they closed temporarily. So now, a day right after reopening (June, 16, 2021) I anxiously waited just to get that frothed coffee again. Maybe I didn't have to ask for it, but I made sure that they're still making it, so I asked anyway. And once again, it made my morning heavenly! (I waited an hour for them to open just for this). You see what I mean? I don't usually finish my coffee in one sitting. All coffee lovers should try Seattle's Best!! For just a cuppa Joe with cream. It's frothed for you! (Though ask to make sure). And it's really the BEST simple coffee that made me really special! Thank you Seattle's Best!!

Seattle's Best!

Before Borders Books went out of business, they were hands down my favorite bookstore, and a large part of that reason was due to the fact that they housed Seattle's Best Coffee cafes. I haven't seen one around since Borders went downhill, but I was super thrilled to see one housed within Tutti Frutti at the Southland Mall. I'm not sure what new concoctions they've come up with since a few years ago, but I generally stick to my old favorites: green tea latte, white chocolate mocha, regular mocha, and cinnamon latte. I got the green tea latte with no water and no extra sweetener and nonfat milk this time around, and it was just as good as I remembered it. I think I prefer their green tea latte to the one currently at Starbucks, mostly because it tastes lighter and a little bit more fruity. I once had a friend try a sip and describe it as "apricots dipped in water," but.. I can't say I agree. It does have that somewhat fruity undertone for some reason though. The iced version with whole milk is absolutely delicious. Their white chocolate mocha was the best I'd ever ever ever had back in the day, although I got it with half syrup and nonfat milk because the original version was way too sweet for me (I do the same thing at Starbucks though, so if you like how sweet Starbucks drinks usually are, you shouldn't opt for half syrup). The regular mocha with half syrup and nonfat milk is good as well, but I don't recommend deviating towards their raspberry mocha and the like.. I remember that wasn't too pleasing. As for lattes, I will forever be in love with their cinnamon latte! I haven't found anywhere else that actually makes a legitimate cinnamon latte, and Seattle's Best does it by using actual cinnamon instead of just the syrup. I can't wait to go back and get this again after all these years! It makes me a little sad that Seattle's Best is virtually extinct nowadays, but at least I now know the location of one, even if it's tucked away in a teensy little booth in the midst of a frozen yogurt shop. Like I said, I've only tried one drink from this location and can't vouch for how well the others are made, but if it's anything like the Seattle's Best of my memory, it's definitely worth a trip.

Pretty terrible coffee. Guy was nice but don't think he knew what he was doing. Kept forgetting my order and wasn't cheap either

After dropping off the girls at an all-day playdate with their cousins in Hayward, my partner and I…read morestarted our no-kids date at a gorgeous coffee shop. I had been to the church before, but I didn't remember the massive coffee hangout there! It's so spacious and offers plenty of seating. How long has this place been here? I wish it were closer to where I live in San Jose! I could easily imagine sitting in one of the comfortable nooks, studying or grading papers. It's also a fantastic spot to meet up or chat with a group of friends. It was definitely a nice place for a date! When we walked in, there were hardly any available seats, but the line at the counter wasn't long. We found a quiet corner to sit and enjoyed our breakfast. I ordered a hot latte with maple syrup in the name, though I can't recall the exact name. It paired nicely with my pastry. The almond croissant I ordered was delectable, with just the right amount of sweetness and flakiness. My partner enjoyed his cappuccino and savory bacon croissant. We walked up two steps to the restroom and were surprised to find more seats and tables. I wish I had noticed that area when I was looking for a place to sit. Oh well, it was comfortable where we were. The girls should have more playdates with their cousins so we can come here more often. Is it really called a "playdate" when the kids are 12 and 15, and their cousins are between 21 and 30?

The salted maple latte was just ok... sadly it looked better than it tasted. I wasn't a huge fan of their espresso as it left a very sour after taste, even with the sweet maple syrup it wasn't very pleasant. Good espresso should be balanced and coffee forward, and I didn't get that. Almond croissant was great, but I was a bit disappointed in their coffee. Ambience is great for studying or getting some work done.

Although the tofu was a little dry and lacked some flavor (had to use sriracha), the chicken banh mi was flavorful and well done, though there was quite a bit of chicken. The fruity matcha with boba was also pretty good as was the Vietnamese coffee, though the coffee was on the strong side. They also sell sesame balls, French bread, and other baked goods as well. We recommend ordering ahead since there is a good amount of people coming in each morning. They take phone and online orders. This is a nice sandwich spot and they have 3 round tables with 4 seats and 4 rectangle tables with 4 seats or so. There is plenty of seating to go around.

The inside interior design is something more akin to a 7/11 grocery store, with a wide countertop displaying colorful and tasty looking Mochinut donuts with the back area for food options. The space is peppered with some two or three person tables as well, with a small display shelf helping to delineate where the line to the cashier starts. Regarding the viet coffee, this one was particularly strong, with a definite higher proportion of coffee to condensed milk that doesn't offend but also risks being a bit TOO strong (wild to say that when all viet coffee at its core is strong). Overall, it's conveniently located, but I think I might prefer to go further south for something with a more balanced taste profile.

They made my day better after interacting with her. I ordered a drink for my wife and she decided i didn't order it correctly so I asked if they can change the order. I was expecting them to do it if I asked but she was so kind. She offered me to keep the first drink and remade a new one for me with a huge smile. Excellent customer experience save. The drinks are also excellent and I really liked the taro drink with fresh taro. It'll be nice with even a little more taro or taro paste. Wish we could choose sugar level but nothing seems overly sweet here. Only complaint is that the drink lids ripe every time you insert a straw. They need nicer plastic lids. Mines ripped and I ask her to re-lid it and it ripped the second time. The other two drinks also ripped when I got home. Easy to spill once ripped.

Everything is sweetened at 50% so you can gauge what you may like in your own drink. I've been coming to this teaspoon since they took over the Quickly that occupied this space. Let me say this was one of the best things to happen to this area. This particular teaspoon sets the standard high on efficiency and quality of their products. I can't remember ever saying my drink tasted wrong or took too long to make. The workers are always on top of their game. You can also save some time and order online through doordash. They're usually very quick with online orders. We usually get either the lychee on lychee, peach oolong or the guava sunset. As mentioned, their drinks lean on the sweeter side even at 50% so if you want something more light definitely opt for 25% sweetness and less ice. For fruitier drinks I usually opt for crystal boba but honey boba works too if you want a chewier texture. Overall can't wait to be back and highly recommend.
