I discovered this coffee shop in Dublin originally, but the Hayward location is more convenient. I love how the coffee shop is drive thru only. I am a lazy girl who doesn't want to get out of her car for a matcha. On the menu it does not say matcha latte, but when asked they do make it. I ordered a small matcha latte w/oat milk extra hot. I love getting extra hot since by the time I start to drink it, it is the right temperature. The lady asked me if it was hot enough which I appreciated. While taking my order she asked if I wanted an espresso shot added, I declined but appreciated being asked. If you pay using Apple Pay they charge a processing fee of 35 cents. I have been going to AJ's for about 12 years. Today I ordered a large smoothie and asked if I could have a second cup because I have a 4 and 2 year old and they don't both need a small 16 oz smoothie each. I was told they don't do that here. I have always had a great experience with the young women that work here and today was my first bad one. It was the owner AJ that helped me. I over heard him talking to one of the girls inside about how he was an accounting major. I prefer to support small business owners but not when they manipulate you into buying two small smoothies so they can make more money. My kids didn't even drink their smoothies. Plus he charged me $1 per smoothie for whipped cream. They have officially lost my business, my husband came here regularly as well, he said he will never again. He told me I should have cancelled my order and left. I wasn't only ordering smoothies. I also ordered two large specialty coffees. My uncle frequented AJs as well, he said he will no longer go after I told him the story of today. I will be telling everyone I know this story. It's sad when a business owner vs his employee are the reason you won't support a place. In these hard times, a business owner should be going above and beyond, not being greedy. I would've even paid for the second cup, which he would've charged me $5 for probably based on his current up-charging and price gouging. By the way, two smoothies for my 4 and 2 year old cost me $14.50!!! I wish I had gone to McDonald's where the smoothies are made with more fruit base and my kids actually like them. They are willing to give me a second cup always. If you like giving away your money to a greedy owner then AJ's is your place! I would like to point out that I was not offered a second cup. I asked exactly for a large with two cups and he replied "we don't do that here. We have smaller sizers." Now if I had the option of being handed a second cup, why would he not offer this option? I think it is clear why. I paid $14.50 for two small smoothies and whipped cream was $1 upcharge, he never told me this. He just asked if I wanted whipped cream and I said yes. I really do like that they have a drive thru as I get lazy at times getting out of my car First glance, they do have a lot of options but not so much to overwhelm you! They do make everything organized on the menu so it's easy to order. The staff were kind & quick w/ their service so I really liked that. The order taker asked me multiple questions regarding my order to ensure that I got my order the way I want which I'm very appreciative of. I ordered their medium matcha latte w/oatmilk! It wasn't bad however next time I'll order extra matcha as it was too milky in my opinion. If you're looking for a quick coffee place to make your morning a little better, this is the place for you! I have always supported small businesses during these times but especially Aj's Coffee. And when I say "small" business, I mean..."small"! This place is a cute little drive thru shop in the parking lot of a 7/11. This alone has always caught my attention and made me curious about what kind of coffee they have to offer! I live pretty close to this area and will always pass by so when I finally decided to try it out, it has easily become one of my favorite little coffee spots! Their menu includes flavors like Red Velvet, Oreo, Matcha, their famous "Mad Ajs" and more! Today, I got the Iced Snowy Mocha Latte which is basically their take on a White Mocha and its really good. You can always adjust your coffee to your liking too as I asked for it with Oatmilk and added Caramel drizzle. I got a medium and this coffee takes me a while to drink (meaning it lasts me a long time) which I like so that I can happily drink it throughout the day! A medium is basically a large here compared to other places so keep that in mind!!! My cousin got the Iced Red Velvet Latte (also size medium) and our total came out to $13.75, not too bad imo for pretty big coffees. I really love this place because of how convenient it is, how quick they are, and how much variety they have on their menu. Came here purely out of convenience and the fact that there was never a line (now I know why) but AJs coffee has definitely lost a customer and I've had enough I will be telling my friends and you all the awful experiences. This doesn't go for most staff, this girl with curly hair in braids or another girl with blonde hair in a ponytail - they were always happy to help me and is a reason I'm sad I won't be returning. First of all the prices are ridiculous, sure it's small but whipped cream for a whole dollar and they're always skimpy on it not to mention it's watery and adds no flavor. Seems to me that the owner is cheap as the half and half I order seems old sometimes and would easily separate. The drinks are watered down and have little to no flavor. One time I got a muffin which resembled one I would get from a gas station and to my horror it had MOLD on it. I also saw a review on here that they got 7-11 pastries! Outrageous! Lastly their newest trick the boba? What a joke. Boba has no place here since they can't make it correctly. It's hard and has no taste. Big mistake. This has become my new favorite place for it's convenience. Living up in Hayward Hills means that we are very distant from everything lol Coming down to Grove Way, this coffee pop-up is in the same lot of land as 7-Eleven and a good quick stop to/from the 680 freeways. The baristas are always so friendly and nice. I've tried many of their items and it's all so delicious! The two of my favorites so far is the hot monkey mocha and a chai frappe with shot of espresso. I love that everything is made as you order it and the aroma of coffee would seep through your car from their ordering window. The only reason I'm not giving this a 5-star review is because of pricing. A small (16oz) cost about $5-6. If you an espresso to anything it's about $2-3 more. At this price, Starbucks actually sound more affordable lol. In addition, you get charged for paying with credit cards regardless - no minimum limit to wave that charge! read more

This place is a local joy and very convenient for those who want to just grab and go (due to it being drive thru based!). I really like how it's open early because I found myself at an empty drive thru around 6am, ready for the workday but needing some fuel. I ordered a hot Monkey Mocha and chocolate croissant. The mocha was hot, strong, and flavorful, and it didn't taste too sweet like most other places that make drinks like this. The chocolate croissant was unlike others in a sense that it was still fluffy but not messy (AKA not too flakey), which helped a lot with keeping my car clean while eating in there. The places has many options for drinks and a fair selection of pastries and bagels. Staff was welcoming and worked quickly. After a soccer game in the deep nowhere of Hayward Hills... I yelped for a coffee spot. Then, I saw that AJs was the closest thing. My friend loves AJs, so I thought I'd try it myself... I am really impress with this coffee kiosk! The staff is super friendly! There wasn't much of a line which was nice. The pricing is amazing! I got a large iced chai! And a large really is LARGE! 32 oz. really shocked me because most spots serve a 20 oz. as a large. My hubby got a medium (20 oz.) americano. Which was pleasantly strong! The kids loved their chocolate shake. Except they said it tasted like bubble gum. I'm too full from my large chai to taste their drink to see what they are trying to explain. Been a customer for years and on 4 recent occasions I've ordered the same items (for myself and my children) and twice I have been charged for extra drizzle/whip where the other times I have been charged as shown on the menu with all the correct ingredients. I even clarified if I'm ordering what's shown exactly on the menu the 2nd and 3rd time coming, just to make sure! But this last time, I didn't think I had to! My issue is if the "shift leader" can't make the drink as shown on the menu without charging extra - why can't she communicate that prior to charging me AND making my drink to avoid conflict? In our dispute, I mentioned this many times. "I just want my drink made the way it's shown on the menu." Her excuse is that she's just doing her job. OK - I want what I ordered. ‍ So with about 5 minutes of unneeded back and forth, she throws whip and drizzle on top. It's still not what we ordered! ‍ so much for customer service, the whole conversation was about wanting my order as shown on the menu! She was too busy defending her job title and blaming employees for their mistakes that she didn't hear my issue with what I was being served. Review updates 5/15 Same young woman requested that I don't come on Mondays because she's not comfortable serving me and my children when I request my drink to be made as it's shown on the menu. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My family and I have been coming to AJ's for years and gradually they've gotten worse and worse. But TODAY they lost our business for GOOD!! We usually get the Mad Aj's frap that ALWAYS come with caramel and mocha drizzle on the side of the cup and on top with whipped cream. Today it came with neither one and we kindly asked them to fix it. The girl laughed in our faces and one of the "owners" came up to tell us they don't put drizzle on the sides and we explained that they always do and he literally said they do it IF IN THEY HAVE TIME like what kind of comment is that to make for an "owner"?!
