Basil Popcorn Chicken is my go to!
Lincy H.

My husband and I like to go to itea for their basil popcorn chicken whenever we want a yummy snack. It's always fried well with a good amount of batter (not too much and not too little), and the chicken itself is juicy and tender. You get quite a bit so it's a hefty snack ;) I do wish that they ask us what spice level we want (or just default to allow the spice to be added on our own), so that we can customize it to our liking or dietary restrictions. We'll just need to remember to request spice level ourselves. Although itea offers lots of food options, it seems like they no longer put out tables but still have benches on the side to sit on. Just something to keep in mind before visiting!

This location is very hidden! Thanks for DoorDash, so I get to know it exists! Wow the drinks are huge for $6.75! The mango drink tasted good and with real mango chunks. The milk tea is on par! Will come again. Ambiance was nice, Christmas tree was nice.

Service counter. Left queue to pick up online orders.

This review is for the service. Service would be more efficient if there were clear signs on where to line up. The left register is to pick up orders. The right is to place orders. Also our order did not correspond to the beeper number. We waited ~25 minutes for our order. Next time, easier to order on the website.

The food is great! Garlic basil popcorn is a family favorite! The wait was about 20 minutes. I asked the cashier to suggest a drink with caffeine because I needed some caffeine. She recommended K6, a brown sugar boba latte, but it was not to my liking.

Another I-Tea and this one in Castro Valley, Enough parking but so many idiot drivers that can't park here for some reason. The store is pretty wide for a wait area. This location is always busy. The staff are all just for work. No enjoyment to show their customers. This I-Tea is a hit or miss. I love their smoothies and mango drinks. Their drinks never seem to be consistent. Not even sweet, too sweet or not enough ingredients. I like their popcorn chicken as it has dried basil and whole garlic cloves in it but there are times it doesn't have enough spice. They don't even ask the level of spice you want. I still come when I crave and it's close to home. Good luck to all! Haha [118R,2025]

Drink: Fresh Mango Pomelo Sago (10/10) - I adjusted this to 50% sugar since they can only do 100% or 50% for this drink and it seemed like so many sweet things going on so I reduced it since I don't have a huge sweet tooth. It was the right choice because it was still fairly sweet but it was yummy! It felt like a dessert in drink form. I can really taste the coconut milk which I loved for both the flavor and creamy texture. The sago was also really good! It was just a drink filled with lots of toppings, layers, and flavors that combined really well. Service: They work pretty efficiently while it's always so busy. The wait for the drink may take a bit of time to come out but that's because they get so many orders and some people bulk order for their families or friends. Ambiance: It's more of a pick-up and go type of place. There's no tables and there's only seats for you to wait for your order. It's a small store but pretty busy!

Loved the drinks and their frequent customer app was good... food was good also, decent beef dishes. Very disappointing that when I had 10 drinks and enough for the freebie, their app went down for several months and the new app doesn't record prior purchases so no freebie. Haven't gone back since then.

Great service, great drinks, and great prices! We came here after a long day at the Oakland zoo and were dying of thirst. The staff were extremely friendly answering any questions I had. I asked them what was their recommendations, most popular, etc. From the extensive listing that they had, I purchased the passion fruit tea with lychee! I enjoyed the drink thoroughly, it wasn't too sweet nor too watery. It was just right. It comes with two free toppings, and they also confirmed with me if the toppings it came with were okay for me! I was able to switch out one of the toppings for more jelly. As for the dining situation, there's no tables beside a bench, so you would have to, to-go it. Which was fine with us. Overall, great experience and 10/10 boba!

Placed an order over the phone, man who took my order was rude. When I arrived they made my order wrong so I had to wait 10 minutes for them to remake it. I finally got my drinks and the drinks came with very little boba compared to how they usually make them. Extremely disappointed do not recommend.

Their store is located in the massive plaza near Castro Valley BART station. What makes them stand out is their lime tea! They're tactfully made to ace the flavor profile, and I've enjoyed every drink I've ordered so far. Not brave enough yet to get the Hand Squeezed Lime Drink ($6.50). My sister first told me about this place, and she dropped off a Phoenix Lime Tea ($8) for me that was refreshing and not as sour as I expected from a drink with a lime ingredient :P It came in a tall, sturdy plastic cup that I reused a couple times for iced coffee at home. Phoenix Dan Cong Oolong Milk Tea with Lime Cream Cold Foam ($8): Shoot that's good. I already love oolong milk tea, and the addition of creamy lime was smooth! Not too tart and didn't ruin the taste. It came in a smaller size cup and I was sad about less drink :( Durian Smoothie with Sticky Rice ($12.50): I hate that I love durian, and it's hard to find durian drinks. Because look at that price tag!! In this economy!! I also hate that I loved it. The durian was potent (not iced down) and the sticky rice was warm, didn't harden too quickly from the cold smoothie. Gosh darn it. Durian Lime Tea ($12.50): Comes with coconut noodles as a topping! Excellent combo as well with durian bits. Can opt to have lime slices in your drink or not. Can also hear the staff hand-pounding the limes for the juice! They have 2 ordering screens, and I've seen someone order at the register as well. I like the big screen that displays orders in progress and completed ones. They have WiFi and indoor/outdoor seating if you want to work from there. I saw a lot of students flooding in during after school hours. Boba is so competitive these days and I love their drinks, so please come so they'll stay open LOL I'm curious about the Rice Mochi Milk Tea ($8) and Mango Coconut Matcha ($8.50). Thank god they're a bit of a far drive, otherwise I would have a monthly Goolu budget.

I ordered the pineapple lime tea and added peach jelly to it. The peach jelly flavor is just rich, doesn't taste artificial, and complements the tea flavor well. The fruit tea itself is wonderfully flavored: pineapple and lime complement each other so well! The drink comes in a thick plastic cup -- so I will be reusing this for cold drinks at home. Service was super quick (although the store was empty when I went at a very off hour on the weekend). The inside has ample seating with green-themed seats/deco. It's located in a plaza so parking is pretty easy! I will definitely be adding this place into my rotation for post-Lake Chabot refreshments

The drinks I order are almost always consistent. If you order a drink you've had there before, you know what it will taste like. When boba is $6-7 and over these days I expect my drink to taste how I want it to and Happy Lemon at practically ANY location tends to deliver. My go to order is a large A2 (black tea with salted cheese) half sweet half ice, and get a second one for the following day with 0 ice. I also love the grapefruit yakult, oreo milk tea, and matcha latte with salted cheese. Please note: I say this about the drinks that I order. There have been a few drinks over the years I was not a fan of. Every once in a while I'll try something new but not all happy lemon drinks are for me and that's okay! They cater to a lot of different palettes. For snacks, I've had the bubble waffles and popcorn chicken. Both are quite good. I personally get the chocolate bubble waffle with oreo inside, and the puff cream dip. I recommend that you eat the waffle quickly or it will get soggy. You can also ask for it to be extra crispy. My only gripe with this location is that no one has ever greeted me with a hello when I walk in. In fact, you practically dont even get acknowledged unless you walk up to the counter and even if you do walk up to the counter it's not guaranteed... It's practically dead silent in there unless you are placing your order verbally instead of using the tablet. That being said, the fact that they are 99% consistent with their drinks and food is enough for me. This isn't a fine dining establishment and I don't expect quality service from shy high schoolers. This is likely a lot of the employees first job so I cut them some slack, order what I want and go home happy. Pro tip on the grapefruit yakult: if you don't like it suuuuper sweet get 0 sugar because the yakult is already quite sweet!

Order: Roasted Oolong Tea w/boba-fragrant oolong tea with 50% sugar & no ice was the right amount of sweetness, but I would rather have had the Rose Tea. Despite this order mishap, the service is great. I was even shown where to park when I come back next time. Just go across the street & you don't need to worry about a time limit.
