I paid extra for mochi and boba pearls to be added into my drink. Because I ordered a slushie, and it was a thick opaque drink, I didn't notice it. It tasted like silken tofu, and thought maybe they put it in by mistake. It wasn't until I finished the drink that I realize there was no mochi nor boba pearls. I decided to not fuss about it to the staff, and just leave a 1-star review.
The good: drinks were good and reasonably priced. Not-so-good: The place was drty and really could use some paint and fixing up. Their cute dog pillows you sit on probably have never been washed. The paint on the walls and floor was peeling. When we walked in the worker was picking his hangnails or something. Overall, not very appetizing. There's too much competition in the dessert/boba market not to clean up your act. Hard pass - yelp only ONCE.
Would come back if I was in the area. Both drinks were good. The Mango was better than the Oreo Brûlée for sure. We ordered on the kiosk. The place was not busy on a weekend. Yummy stuff. But could be fresher! Service was ok. And inside was a bit sticky on the tables. Private lot in back
Great boba option to turn to here in Hayward that offers oat and soy milk as non-dairy milk options - a win in my book. The shop is large with many drink options and snacks to choose from. You order from the kiosk in front but can ask the staff if you have any questions. I ordered a Jasmine Milk Tea with Oat Milk and it was perfectly made. Highly recommend a lower sugar level since it's sweet as it is. They also did a great matcha latte that my sister ordered too. Will definitely come back here the next time I'm in the area.
If you're looking for a solid spot for late-night boba in the East Bay, Once Tea is definitely a solid choice. Located in downtown Hayward, the ambiance is pretty chill and quiet noise levels for a boba place. It's my go-to when I'm craving quality milk tea after 8:30 PM and most other places are already winding down. The ordering process is super smooth; you can use the self-service kiosks for speed or order with a cashier if you prefer. While there are only 5 tables available to sit, the service is incredibly quick, so you'll be in and out in no time. The prices are also very decent, generally ranging from $5 to no more than $8 depending on your toppings. Most importantly, the boba texture is perfect and the milk tea flavor actually tastes authentic. We got the Thai boba tea and hojicha phoenix tea latte with popping barley (hot drink). The hot drinks only come in the regular size. Didn't get to try the food, but it looks good and they had a buy one get one half off deal going on.
This place is underrated and sooo good! Fast service and the drink tastes so fresh and good! Love their selection as well!
Was craving popcorn chicken and was in the area. Their batter isn't like your typical popcorn chicken. There's also no seasonings on it... the pepper and spice is what makes it popcorn chicken. Very disappointed.
i just went to hayward and decided to find boba tea spot on the way home and saw once tea was the closest and i gave a try. place is just ok and there was only one staff but he was nice. i ordered mango passion fruit with aloe and surprisingly it was so refreshing and i love it!!! if you are a tea lover, i will say you need to stop by here and give it a try...
We came here on a cold evening and ordered the strawberry blizzard with sago drink with boba. It came out just as we requested -- not too sweet and it had the sago and tender boba as expected. The service was fast, even though we dealt mainly with a kiosk and hardly spoke to anyone there. But overall it was a good experience and they have a lot of drink options.
Good boba but the shop could use some TLC. I love their selection of drinks here and I've always been happy with the value (good amount for the price). The touch screen ordering system is also really great because they have pictures of most drinks so you can see what they look like. However the store itself could use some upkeep. The floors were very dirty/sticky when I went in and there aren't great seating options to enjoy your food/drinks. Would come back for the boba but definitely would take it to go.

This place is located right next to a movie theater and a free parking lot, so it was easy to order and go. I've had their fruit drinks a couple times (sparkling soda and fruit teas) and they offered the right amount of carbonation and fruity taste, albeit being a bit small for the price. I ordered the snack combo for the first time and I won't be doing so again. It came with a couple pieces of chicken, some fried shrimp (and one octopus?), and something else I couldn't really identify. They all used the same seasoning so if it weren't for the shape and texture, I couldn't taste the difference between all the snacks. Some of it was OK; others I really didn't care for. Super salty. Overall, the drinks here would get a 3.5 from me; the food probably a 2-2.5. However if you're craving a drink and you're nearby, I can see why coming here would be easy and convenient.
Once Tea is located close to the Century Theater. There is limited street parking but they also have some free public parking lots nearby. The service was friendly and nice. Loved their mango blizzard drink. It was tasty and had a great texture to it. Would definitely recommend getting that drink. We also got some of their fried chicken. It was very juicy and crunchy. I loved it a lot. If you are hungry, definitely try the chicken. Parking is rough here so get the first parking spot you can find or try the free lots. It's alot of one way roads here so be careful with driving. read more

My friends and I were around the downtown Hayward and wanted some tea so we stopped by at ONCE tea. There was a self order kiosk and our drinks came pretty quick since it wasn't busy at all when we went. I got the Oreo brûlée and it was very sweet despite adjusting the sweetness level. It was still pretty good! There's an assortment of drinks so you have different options to choose from. From fruit teas, to milk teas. They even have some hot drink options. It is just standing room only. There were no seating options at all- so just be warned. Definitely give it a try here though. read more

My husband and I were craving something refreshing in the late evening. A lot of local boba shops close at 9pm, but we saw that ONCE tea was open, so we decided to try it out. We shared a strawberry blizzard with sago and I was pleasantly surprised! We got 75% sweetness and it definitely hit the spot. I would go back for that drink. This spot is right next to the theaters so you can park in the nearby garage. read more

I kept pondering on the name of this place...and only after I tried it did I realize why. You'll only try it ONCE. I had high hopes as I saw a flock of people go in to order, and the place was well lit, decorated with a minimalist feel, and hosted a mini claw machine. It LOOKED promising! The drink menu seemed extensive but had your typical milk tea and fresh tea flavors in addition to some unique blended drinks. As a first timer, I thought to play it safe and get the brown sugar boba. It's the first thing on the menu so you'd think it'd be a typical drink that's made countless times and would come out close to perfect. I was so wrong. At 50% sugar, this thing was sweeter than 100% sweetness level for brown sugar boba from other establishments. The boba was mediocre. ~80% of them were mushy and had no bounce. To top it off, the drink was expensive for the size you get. It was small but charged like it was a medium sized or large drink at some other places. Oh and the closer you get to the register, the stickier the floors. It doesn't seem they have been cleaned for a bit as the grime and stickiness seemed to be widespread. It also didn't help much that there was not so much of a peep coming out from the staff to greet you. That could explain why they have a kiosk to take your order. The kiosk menu has pictures so that was nice to see how you drink would turn out. To their credit, the drinks LOOK great. It's just the quality and substance that is lacking tremendously. There are a few seats and tables but otherwise, the room is pretty bare. You won't find any games or anything inviting except for the claw machine thrown in the corner. Not sure how well it fits with the theme of the place but it does add a bit of color and novelty. Parking is easy around here due to the public garage and street parking but I would look elsewhere or opt to drive further to get a better treat. This place was just not my cup of tea. Overall, I'd stay clear but if you must, try it ONCE. That may just be all you'll need to know you've made a mistake. read more

My sister and I visited here before going to grab food. There were 2 workers inside and no customers. We used the big screen to order our drinks. My sister got the oreo crème brûlée milk tea and I got the avocado mango smoothie with crystal boba. I tried the oreo crème brûlée milk tea and it was really good!! I would come back just for this drink! There was a good amount of tea flavor and the sweet oreo on top was yummy! My avocado mango smoothie was surprisingly good. I've never seen mango paired with avocado in a drink, I've only had strawberry with avocado. I think the tartness of mango really cut into the avocado's creaminess, which is a good thing because having solely avocado can be overwhelming. The crystal boba had a nice crunchy texture which balanced the drink out in my opinion! read more

I've been to this address on multiple occasions and it's a different restaurant each time. I wish this business the best. I came for a boba drink and ended up adding a slushy and ube fries. Everything was perfect. I got the brown sugar boba with regular sweetness. I felt as though it was on the sweeter side BUT I didn't mind. I highly recommend the purple sweet potato fries. They were delicious. I'm surprised purple fries aren't 'a thing'. Now that I've tasted them, I feel like it's something that every place should offer. Lol. The food and drinks are both 5/5. read more
We stopped by here on a whim and were so happy we did! It's conveniently located in downtown Hayward. There was easy parking located in the lot across the street. Ordering was easy through the kiosk and I was very interested to try the Avo & Mango boba - I have loved and often order Avocado and Mango but separately. And I'm glad to say that combined, it still tastes good! The crystal boba was a nice touch, although next time I'd probably swap with regular boba. My husband ordered the Oreo Brulee and it was really good! This is a great place for a grab-and-go - they do have seating but the atmosphere isn't the coziest. To echo the other reviewers, the floor is a bit sticky and there are very visible scuff/dirt marks on the chairs and tables. Otherwise, I would love to return to try their other boba flavors. read more

Got catfished I ordered a classing milk tea and it did not look like the picture at all . The drink took like less than a minute to make. The bigger Latina girl was rude and looked like she didn't want to be there. The inside of the store is not it either . read more

I am downgrading their stars because of honesty of their paying system. There is only a tablet at the store use for ordering as the barista does not take orders. I was surprised that under tips there is no selection of a custom amount. Therefore, the minimum to pay is 10 % and the default is set to a higher %. I have never visited any take outs which require you to pay a minimum tips. I don't think this is right. The drinks still taste good but the whole experience is now ruined because of this paying system. Sorry to say, we would not visit again. Customers should have a choice to pay however amount tips they want and this will only make customers stay away from coming. Bad choice for the owner. Also, there was a puddle in the store right when we entered. No one cleaned up the water and there was no warning sign of slippery floor. Especially the floor is white so it was hard to see the water. We almost slipped. Don't come. read more

I went to Once Tea... once lol because my boyfriend and I were in the area. The boba shop was very cute with limited seating. You would order on the self-serve kiosk. I ended up ordering the Peach Green Tea Lemonade with Crystal boba (regular sweetness). The drink was good, but it was a little too sweet for me at regular sweetness. I probably could've ordered the drink 50-75%sweet. If I am in the area again, I would come back. read more
Good boba but my food was bland. I was in the area and wanted some boba since it was a hot day out, so we stopped by ONCE Tea. There's no parking right in front of the restaurant, but there's a free lot a bit further down, so we parked there and walked over. They have a lot of drinks, including milk tea, fresh milk, slushies and smoothies, and fruit teas. They also some fried snacks such as spring rolls, tempura shrimp, fries, takoyaki, etc. To order, you can use the tablet. I sorted by their top 5 drinks and ordered one of them, the E6 ONCE special mango green tea slush with tea jelly at 50% sugar ($6.25). I've never had a green tea slush before, but it was really good and refreshing on a hot sunny day. The tea jeally was a first for me as well but it was so soft and chewy. Needless to say, I killed this drink pretty quickly :D I also tried the calamari for $6.99, and while it was fried to a nice crisp, it was also incredibly bland. I ate two pieces and waited to eat the rest until I could come home and add some salt. Then it was fine. read more

The drink I ordered here was OK, mediocre. I ordered a rose black tea with honey bursting boba. I was hoping it would come with rose petals but it didn't. I didn't taste much of the rose from tea, I tasted more of the honey. I'm not sure what they meant by "honey bursting" boba, but when I bit into it it was pretty soft, mushy and a bit gummy. Inside is nice and clean and they have cute shiba cushions you can sit on at the table. Since this is located in downtown Hayward, there's some nearby street parking or you can park in the parking lot nearby. read more

Saw this place listed on Uber eats with a discount so decided to try it out. I really wasn't expecting too much but this place far exceeded my expectations. The drinks are tasty and quality. The strawberry blizzard was so good! It reminded me of a mix between a smoothie and a milkshake. Definitely had a nice creaminess to it and loved how you could taste bits of frozen strawberries in it. This was my favorite of all the drinks. The Peach lemonade Green tea with crystal Boba was really refreshing. There are even bits of peach in the drink, but I didn't taste too much peach flavor other than that. it wasn't overly sour with the Lemonade. Be careful because it was noticeably caffeinated and I could feel it right away. Brown sugar Boba milk tea almost tasted a bit diluted. I wasn't sure if it was because I ordered it with 50% sweetness but, it tasted more like milk than milk tea. This was my least favorite and I probably won't get it again. The workers were very nice. Make sure to check your order because 2 of 4 drinks were missing ingredients (the sago and crystal boba). But they were good about it and corrected the issue. Also, the second time we came back, service was extremely slow. I think part of the problem was because it was a weekend and they received a lot of online orders and one of the staff seemed new. We probably waited 20 to 25 minutes for the drinks. But the first time we ordered, it was done fairly quick. Parking is very hard to find on the street because it's next to the theater as well as many other restaurants. We had to drive around twice before we gave up and parked in the parking structure and walked quite a ways to get to the place. I would definitely come back again. read more
