Everyone on here complaining about the service needs to stop being soft little babies. The employees are wonderful and doing a great job. CV people are often entitled and snobby which is a shame because it's a great location. They always crank out drinks as quickly as possible and handle difficult people well. Everyone needs to chill. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is the atmosphere, and it has little to do with the business itself. Unfortunately, many customers treat the café more like their own living room than a shared space. It's common to see people talking or yelling loudly, leaving trash behind, occupying multiple tables with their belongings, and then disappearing for long periods. That makes it difficult for others to find seating or enjoy a quiet coffee. If you're stopping by for a quick pickup or takeaway, this place is excellent. If you're hoping to relax, read, work, or have a conversation with someone, the experience can be inconsistent due to customer behavior. Came in Wednesday at 12:35 in the afternoon there was a female working the cash register and a male barista. The female was rude very cold in her service. Won't be coming back due to that I get you're having a bad day, but don't take it out on your customers. The male barista was super chill and friendly. I definitely would come back for his service. There was no reason for the female to give me attitude whatsoever. I very rarely come into this Peets and due to her poor attitude and Customer Service won't be returning. If I could give a zero, I would. I went into Pete's coffee for teacher appreciation day, which offers a small tea or coffee so I asked for a drink similar to a medicine ball from Starbucks. The lady Christine proceeded to act like she had no idea what I was talking about, so the other representative told her how to make it. She then went on to tell me that she had to charge me extra for the lemonade, even though it was gonna be free for teacher appreciation week, so I therefore had to ask for a manager, who absolutely said that it is free. This woman was rude, unhappy, and had a horrible attitude. I will never come to this pizza again just because of the employee by the name of Christine, who is working on a Tuesday at 5 PM.. the manager and the other employee apologized to me for her behavior. Like many of the recent reviews, my 3/5 Star rating is primarily due to the service. While I understand this Peet's Coffee location is busy, service should never take a backseat in the restaurant business. In my experiences, the cashiers are dry and unhelpful. I suggest having your order memorized and ready when approaching the register. While waiting for the beverages to be made, overhearing how unhappy the staff is with their hours, the busyness, etc, is not pleasant. I suggest keeping those conversations private and out of ear-shot of customers. Occasionally my wife craves Peet's which is why I come here; but I get far better service at my local Starbucks and Philz locations. Drinks usually taste good so I do appreciate that aspect. read more

Visited Peet's in Castro Valley while in town from Las Vegas because we hardly have any there, and I was genuinely excited to go. Unfortunately, the barista who helped me was rude and completely ruined the experience. The rest of the staff seemed nice, which made her attitude stand out even more. If you hate dealing with customers that much, maybe customer service isn't the right job. What a huge disappointment from a place I was actually looking forward to visiting. read more

My current go to drink is the Golden Caffe Latte, with Whole Milk, Extra Hot, and Light Golden Turmeric Ginger Syrup. The convenience of ordering ahead using the Peet's card, combined with the discount from purchasing gift cards from Costco is terrific. Most times, we're able to walk in, grab our drinks, thank the barista, drop a dollar or two into the tip jar, and we get to bypass the long line waiting to order. Most times, we're not even in the store long enough to notice the ambiance. Alfred would still be proud. read more

The staff is friendly (on certain days ) and the food and drinks are awesome ( but they didn't warm up my cinnamon coffee cake ) there have been major incidents when homeless people would come up to customers including me and my friend and ask them to buy a coffee after I saw him get a coffee from another customer. Even though many of the staff here are very friendly and professional, today I saw them allow in a pet (little rat dog, barely a puppy, pulling on leash-- obviously not a service dog as service dogs are expected to act professionally and puppies are too young to have completed training) despite the no-pets rule. When businesses don't uphold their no-pets rule, it makes it an unsafe space for me to go with my service dog, where I have to be worried about people's untrained pets approaching my dog while he's working. Huge shout out to Ryan and Mariha at the Castro Valley Peet's store #1117. I was on my way to OAK airport Sat am when I realized I had forgotten my purse and ID at home. I stopped at Peet's so someone could bring me my purse and hopefully still make my flight. Needless to say I was very upset and anxious. Ryan and Mariha were so kind and calming. When I ordered a coffee and sandwich for my sweet son-in-law who was bringing my purse to me, I realized I didn't have my wallet to pay. Ryan told me it was on the house and even offered me coffee/ treats. Ryan and Mariha went above and beyond to help me out. They are angels on earth. Thank you!!!lll read more

I really like their coffee but I am used to their employees knowing what their drinks consist of. I forgot that a Black Tie was really sweet. I asked the barista if it was and she replied with a nonchalant, "No". No expression whatsoever. I should've said I wanted less of whatever sweetner they put in it, however, I trusted her judgement. After I got it, I sat down and took a sip of my expensive, small size and it was not all I wanted it to be. Really sweet and it knocked out too much of the strong coffee taste. Best Coffe shop to start your day off right! I order from here frequently. They treat my husband and I with respect & care. They have our order ready quick. The only request I have is consistency. One day my Coffe is amazing. The next it's a lil more empty & just tastes more like milk. Each barista makes it different. It's truly a surprise as far as what the Coffe will taste like each time. I get excited when it's the way I like it I can tell by the color right away lol! I recommend the sugar free latte either iced or hot is good! I love this place though & the friendly people who work here give it a refreshing atmosphere especially when I'm a hurry from daily life. My wife and I received a promo. Free mocha coffee. Expired on 1/1/25. We arrived at the Castro Valley location at 4:05pm. We were told that Peet's location was closed at 4pm. Wow. Your website did not indicate your locations were closing early on 1/1/25 (ie. closing at 4pm). Needless to say, my wife and I were extremely disappointed we missed out on the mocha coffee promotion. We then decided to patronized Starbucks for our coffee. At a minimum, Peet's owes us an apology for closing early even though the website made no mention of closing early on 1/1/25. Peet's has really gone downhill in the last couple of years. The chintziness of this place is just astounding. And they blame everything on "the pandemic!!" Come on, no health advisory has mandated that you cannot have paper plates or regular plates on which to serve food. When you buy a baked good and you want to eat in, be prepared to eat out of a paper bag like some uncivilized person. The Fort Knox has a run for its money the way Peets employees hoard the chocolate shaker! Should you dare to reach for the chocolate shaker at the counter, prepare to have your head bitten off for such a grave infraction. Again, they blame it on the pandemic. What a discriminating pandemic that it only affects the chocolate shakers and not the cinnamon shakers!! Still the coffee had been good, but alas that too has suffered. What used to be rich and robust coffee now tastes watered down and moldy tasting. I am sorry to say that the employees are dropping the ball and there is no responsible oversight of this facility. Stop gaslighting customers by blaming everything on the pandemic and clean up your act! That you hardly have food items is not the fault of the pandemic, nor is the lack of serve ware or the chocolate shakers. Girl with the long brown hair is completely more into gabbing and chatting about her social life and with her coworker than actually making the drink! I placed my order at the register with one girl. Then I stand off to the side waiting for my drink to be prepared. I kid you not. The girl and guy making drinks just stand there for 7-10 minutes talking about their after hours lives, their college classes, all while I'm waiting for my drink. They don't even start making it! She's so focused on him and their conversation about outside social activities. Finally almost 10 minutes of this and she starts making my drink. What do you know, about 1-2 minutes into making it another customer comes up and asks for his drink to be in another cup or something and has all these little requests a mile long. Transfer the cup. Get another cup. Get a cup sleeve. Reduce the temperature. Etc. The girl then stops making my drink and attends to the customer for 5 minutes. Then she goes back to talk with her coworker after finishing with the interrupting customer. Finally she finishes making my drink that I've now been waiting nearly 20 minutes for which should've taken 3 minutes at most. This is the college aged or early 20-something white girl with brown hair. Where do they hire these people? Don't they know they have to actually work and not gab and also to tell customers who interrupt to "please hold on a moment". This is ridiculous. Horrible place. read more

I asked one of the employees where I might find my order, his rather rude response was to point and say, "Over there where the big sign is." I'm a Peetnik and this is my first time at this location. It was a Saturday morning. Parking was a challenge. Peet's was packed. That's great! People here appreciate good coffee. Finn was friendly and peppy and knew what drink I wanted as I fumbled my words trying to customize my drink. That usually happens before I get caffeine. The line was long but it's okay. Peet's is always worth the wait. But not today. I ordered a dry cappuccino and what I got was something more of a latte. The cup was heavy! Cappuccino is mostly foam and when you order it dry, the cup should be light! The barista happily remade it but I had to wait a bit more. She said she didn't know I ordered it dry. No matter who I get served by at Peet's Coffee in Livermore I always get great service. The quality of the food is always consistently good. I like that they offer both in person and online ordering. I like that they provide both indoor and outdoor seating. A lot of the Starbucks franchises are eliminating their seating. I use to meet a friend for coffee at the Starbucks in Castro Valley, but when they remodeled it they eliminated all customer seating. read more

Pete's Castro valley is the slowest coffee house. If you don't have any place to be it's ok. I mobile ordered 10 minute before I arrived and still waited 12 minutes in a packed coffee shop. Came here to get some work done in the late afternoon. I ordered a coconut black tie from a friendly young lady. My order was prepared quickly for me to grab a seat and start working. No issues with the product/ staff. The young lady who works the front dark black hair, sometimes black lipstick and winged liner (her name tag was too low for me to read) has not only a bad attitude but can literally NEVER get the simplest drink order correct. You can't have both a bad attitude and act so bothered by doing your job and not do your job correctly when it's literally pushing buttons to exactly what ppl tell u ESPECIALLY when it's a drink AS IS off the regular menu. honestly, i've never had a bad experience at *any* peet's, but this is one of the best the staff is talented in their craft (and one can expect from peet's)--but more, they're fantastic people, people in whom the company and the city should take great pride. the staff here are the people you'd want to hang out with over (dare i say it?) coffee...or perhaps an adult beverage. the same can be said for the customers here. i've come to know many regulars and they're a fun and varied collection of individuals. it can sometimes be too busy as a quiet get-away, but it's dynamic and the energy doesn't just come from the caffeine, the tasty tasty caffeine! read more

Don't come here if you want your mood ruined. Staff very rude and inconsiderate. I planned to come here to work 5:30-7:00pm bought a coffee and planned to use the restroom. I asked before buying the coffee hey will the restroom be open cause I plan on sticking around and working for a while and if so ill check another place, the girl working said yes it will be open in 30. I came back in 40 minutes after I ordered my drink and worked and the dude on the cashier was like no you can't use it it's closed I don't care.
