We specifically went through the details of the cake's colors and showed the person who went through it with us. He assured us that they can provide the appropriate colors (bright pumpkin orange and bright blue) using existing cakes in their refrigerator as the respective colors. We left feeling confident. The day we picked up the cake, however, the cake provided was a pale orange, which was not what we had asked for. I informed the worker, and his response was: "So, do you not want it? " Of course, I want it, but I wanted what was ordered, so I asked if they could correct it. I was told no, and that was it, so I had to ask to speak with a Manager. The guy called and informed us that he could only authorize a $10 gift card, which was fine, but I was still a little upset. However, later that evening, my daughter received a call saying that they would like to resolve this matter further and offered a partial refund, which we deeply appreciated. So, extra star. The thing that I was irritated about was the initial question from the guy who helped me. The fact that he didn't try to solve the issue and just asked if we still wanted it. I mean, it's a birthday cake and obviously, if we were picking it up the day of, it was a celebrate a birthday. The fact that he didn't know how to handle a dissatisfied customer was a little insane. It wasn't until I asked to speak with a manager that he tried to get in touch with one, since one wasn't on site. I've lived in San Leandro for a good amount of time and didn't realize that this Baskin Robbins location even existed. BR's $1.99 parent scoop summer promotion motivated me to download the app and, lo and behold, Pelton Plaza's BR popped up and was just a few minutes away. My husband and I took our toddler there a little after 6 PM on a weekday and managed to snag one parking spot in the lot (paid parking ends at 6 PM, I believe). There were three people working behind the counter and a steady amount of customers. There are a few tables for 2-4 people and we sat for a bit and enjoyed two scoops each - mint chocolate chip and jamoca almond fudge for me, jamoca almond fudge and a newer Twix flavor for my husband. Their scoops are generous and the ice cream is just as delicious as I remember from going to my childhood BR in Union City. The interior of this location is a bit smaller than the ones I've been to in Union City and Alameda, but it has everything that's needed - the ice cream, seating, and freezers for ice cream cakes. read more

Only reason I gave it less than five stars is - when did the cups get smaller and the prices higher?! I got three cups of two scoops each. They are packed enough to get a lid on the cup - that's cool. They rang me up: $19 bucks! It's good every now and again but ouch. I could have gotten several flavors at the store for that price. The second scoop I got was the nutty coconut which had shredded coconut, pecan, walnut, and almond, this was not overly sweet and the coconut flavor really shines through. If you haven't noticed I like coffee, almond, and coconut. But if you share the same tastes in ice cream flavors as me I highly recommend it.
