This place is so nice. It gives old school ice cream shop vibes. It's very spacious. The biggest Loard's I've been too. The staff was friendly and the ice cream was delicious and plentiful.

What a sad sundae!! $12.10 plus tax for one scoop of vanilla ice cream, minimal caramel sauce, whipped cream and a sprinkle of nuts. I could make 10 of those sundaes at home for that price. Crazy mark up. But I guess you have to pay for the cute pink and white decor. Next time I'll just buy a quart and go home.

THIS scoop was $5.40! Glad I wasn't really tasting for ice cream, shocked at size of servings, more than the price..., I know things have gone up, but you don't expect a pinch on both the price and serving size!

The ice cream isn't bad it is a bit pricey but the butterscotch marble is a good combination of vanilla and butterscotch! I will say they do have a good selection of different ice cream flavors for people to try and you are allowed to try three different ice creams per person, but I wasn't a big fan of all the flavors that I tried. The service is really good. The people there are kind and the style is very much 1950s so it's cute for pictures!

Receipt. Forgot to take pic of ice cream. :)

Loard's Ice Cream has been in this location for decades. Since it's founding in 1950, the owners are the same, still using the same recipe. This location is the biggest i've seen so far in their mini-chain. They also sell chocolates, candies, the usual ice creamery menu. There's table service too. Decor is a throwback to the decor of yesteryears-many nostalgic remembers. Was too busy planning videos, forgot to take pic of my licks. Just have the receipt. :) Was prompted by single Asian female associate on duty to sample some ice cream flavors. Something vanilla, something fruity. Flavors Too subtle. Licks: ube and sea salt caramel scoops (7.50) cup. -both very creamy, subtle flavors, minimal sugar. -sugar didn't overpower ice cream flavor. Nothing artificial tasted.

Loved the ambiance and good vibes here! No complaints at all -- the place has that classic old-school style and it smells fresh and clean

Ice cream is good, I can't complain about that. Service at this location not so good. Got there at about 840, and there was a line out the door they close at 9 PM. I was to be serviced and they decided to ring up the lady behind me who was buying some self-serve pints. They then proceeded to make her ice cream cones I had of mine, which was kind of rude and unappreciated. As we sat down and ate at 8:55 PM I'm guessing the owner is who she was, basically made announcement that they were closed and everybody had to get out. At least that's how we interpreted it. We only went here because we are in the area and we always stay loyal to the great service and they will stay open until the last customer is served.

Tried this spot on a hot Tuesday afternoon. The ice cream was super tasty and staff were super friendly. They recommended the coffee ice cream and mint and chocolate chip. We got the banana special and caramel sundae. Both were solid. The atmosphere feels like an old school style ice cream parlor. Would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area

Happy 4th of July! Service was quick. Ice cream is very creamy. One scoop was plenty. It was quaint and plenty of seating inside. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the breeze.

If I could give 1 dislike about it all, it's that their 1.75 prepackaged Quarts tasted watered down or at least that was how mine tasted when I ordered one, so if you're deciding on wanting to take one home I would suggest just getting two 3 scoops or a quart of whatever you're wanting. Moving on to service, the workers there do a great job attending costumers despite it being over flooded by so many people quite often. As for the atmosphere I'd say it feels a bit constricting especially when there's so many people there but honestly the feeling after getting a taste of the ice cream makes it worth it.

Snow fresca really hit the spot after a blazing hot week, hitting upper-80s & low-90s. Particularly what they do well is they use real fruit juice which makes a huge world of a difference, they offer sweet fresh cut fruit as a topping alongside coconut cream or condensed milk, and a few other sprinkles and coconut shavings. I ordered a medium shave ice with ice cream, mango/pineapple/guava "syrups" and condensed milk with ice cream. Unfortunately the ice cream didn't make it in the shave ice, but when brought to their attention they offered to bring us a scoop. My personal suggestions: I think the shave ice may be better if the ice cream is topped with fruit and the shave ice is packed a little lighter. The reason I say this is because the fruit is loosely packed atop the shave ice and becomes a bit of a balancing game to try and eat without them just falling off the top and onto the table. This also becomes quite a challenge because you essentially need to pick at your shave ice because it's a bit too solid (but super light and fluffy once you do manage to pick out a bite), and occasionally lose a few fruit from all the ice being picked loose. Otherwise, I'd say this is one of the better shave ice in the immediate Castro valley area - especially the only one who uses real fruit juice!

I got a medium sized mango and guava with strawberry and mango bits with condensed milk and vanilla ice cream. I think my fiancé and I could have shared a medium one, especially after a meal! It's not 100% exactly what I would find in Hawaii but it was still good! We loved that there was an option to add ice cream. My fiancé got banana ice cream with his and he absolutely loved it! There were clumps of ice at the bottom, probably from the shaved ice being pushed down as they were making it. The syrup was inconsistent - some areas didn't have any syrup and was just ice. My ice cream as all melted by the time I got it, but my fiancé's ice cream was fine. Odd because I got my order first! It's still a good dessert place to stop by if I have a craving!
