This visit was long overdue. It's right near home, has been around since 1950, and somehow I'd never made it in until now. The prices are very reasonable with a double scoop sundae for $8.95 and a two-scoop bowl for $7.50 is hard to complain about these days. It was a beautiful afternoon, so we grabbed a table outside and enjoyed the sunshine. They did seem a little understaffed for how busy it was, and with the crowd, the place could've used a bit more attention, especially the outdoor trash area. That said, it's still a great go-to spot on a hot day. Classic, affordable, and an easy way to spend a relaxing afternoon.
My family and I frequent this Loard's location because of the excellent customer service and generous single scoop portion! I also love their fresh waffle cones. We sometimes eat inside and it always brings back nostalgia from my childhood days enjoying ice cream in Loard's in Alameda. We like to sit at the high top tables here, looking out the window, where we admire and talk about the beautiful plants and flowers at the entrance and people watch. As an additional plus, it is conveniently located near the Marina Outlets and auto shop where we sometimes get our cars services, so Loard's at this location is a treat when we are at the outlets or waiting for our car service to be finished!
First of all happy Friday and I'm gonna let you know how great my Friday is going for starters. I was at Kaiser San Leandro at my appointment with the orthopedic doctor and I said if I do a good job, I'm gonna get a treat afterwards. She said great. I said it's definitely gonna be Ice Cream the ambience there when I walked in at Loards amazing the staff super cool but there's one particular guy was extremely helpful. He held the door when I came in and when I left, his name was Max he's a phenomenal excellent Employee his Customer Service skills are 12 out of 10 and the other guy was cleaning the back and I was by the window when he was cleaning the window and I kinda make like a face like like wet my face but it was like so cool like I go there to get my ice cream every time I don't care how far I have to drive. It's worth the drive. The staff is amazing. I don't care who's on duty the young ladies that work there the young men everybody just so freaking friendly. It's like Ice Cream Therapy when I go there I go there and I'm like it's amazing. Keep up the amazing work the great job you guys are doing there the Factory this is where you get the good stuff Castro Valley store no way they didn't do a remodel there, but San leandro has always been my main Store my main Ice Cream hangout you know this is the ice cream shop you need to be at where they make it fresh all of the ice cream creams like yeah check it out. If you ain't been the Lord, you better take a field trip. Take your grandkids take your girlfriend your boyfriend, your cousins, your aunt your uncle's sheesh take the whole Neighborhood. After dinner we stopped into Loard's Ice Cream. This was the only place that made Champagne Sherbet. This was a childhood favorite flavor that my dad always brought home after working at his 2nd job to treat my brother and me. So whenever I get a chance to get it I do. I know a lot of people hate this flavor. It's a light and refreshing floral taste that cleanse the palette. My wife got her favorite mocha chip. She loves the little chunky chocolate pieces.
2000 Wayne Ave San Leandro, CA 94577 On a warm Saturday, I stopped for a sundae at the Loard's ice cream shop in San Leandro. It's their factory location, where they make the ice cream. The shop is a bit outdated, and could use some cleaning on the outside. But the ice cream was excellent and the staff were super friendly and helpful. As expected, there was a line. But the two servers moved the line pretty quick! I asked for a "Black and White Sundae" w/ 2 scoops and no nuts. They ran out of marshmallow, so they offered to load it up with caramel and hot fudge. It was over 80*F that afternoon, and they were giving us small cups to catch the drips. I enjoyed my sundae at a small table inside. But they also have several tables and chairs outside. During the warm weather, or anytime you feel like having some ice cream.....stop by Loard's ice cream shop on Wayne Ave. It's one block from the I-880 freeway ramps. Loard's Ice Cream has been in business since 1950!
Late night ice cream run with the bestie and BabyBear. Cute little shop. Gives old school ice cream shop vibes. Ice cream still has the same great flavor as usual. Very clean and easy to order location. Ample parking in the lot. Nice service as well.
I think I found my new ice cream spot! This place is small with limited seating but the staff here is really friendly. The menu is really simple. But it has enough good options which makes it hard to choose just one. They are generous with their scoops here, and they even sell ice cream to take home. I went with the ube and coffee and it was super creamy and not too sweet. I'd make the drive just to get my ice cream fix.

If you're looking for a huge scoop of ice cream that hits the spot, come here! Got the cookies and cream and almond joy Ice cream flavors, which were rich and creamy. The 2 friendly girls were so helpful. Love the outdoor patio seating and decor adds a hint of nostalgia. Can't wait to come again!
Probably one of the best ice cream parlors in the bay. I would give this a 4.5 stars if there was an option and only reserving 5 stars for Ghirardelli. The flavors of the ice creams is one of the best and the chocolate fudge they used in the sundae was really good. Loard's is an east bay ice cream staple and a must visit. They also serve halo halo which is unique.

This is located right across from the Marina outlets in an industrial area by the car dealership. They have a small parking lot and street parking available. The shop itself is small with a couple of tables inside but more tables outside on their patio. Prices are pretty in line with other Loards locations and other ice cream shops in general. They are pretty generous with their scoops here. I usually satisfy my sweet tooth enough with the kids scoop (not on the menu). They have all the usual flavors here along with some seasonal ones. They also sell pints and quarts of ice cream here if you want to take it to go to enjoy at home. If you're a coffee lover, the mocha chip is usually my go to and I get hot fudge for an extra treat.
I've passed by this little neighborhood ice cream shop so many times while visiting my auntie and finally decided to give it a try. So glad I did! The ice cream was super creamy, rich, and full of flavor. You can really taste the quality. The shop has a cozy neighborhood feel and friendly service, too. Definitely a sweet spot worth stopping for if you're in the area!
Loard's Ice Cream has been in San Leandro for many many years!!! Been coming here since grade school. Always got great tasting ice cream. The kids the works there are great, always with a smile. My daughter love getting their milkshakes with a fresh banana. Their strawberry ice cream is one of the best!!!

Tucked away in a small corner of San Leandro is Loard's Ice Cream!! When you walk in, you can instantly tell it's a family-opened business and that their passion is ice cream. Not a lot of parking outside, or decor inside, but holy heck the ice cream is good! Will definitely be returning. read more

My brother in laws family is two blocks away from this Loard's location and it is a totally no frills solid cone/cup every time we go. The shop boasts like 50 different flavors including seasonal ones that rotate every three to four months. Occasionally I'm disappointed when they post a flavor on their menu that isn't yet in stock, but there's definitely never a shortage of runner ups to choose from. The service is fine, not overly friendly but they do stay open later than a lot of the other ice cream places in the area. A solid spot for ice cream any day of the week! read more

i havent been here in years. I was on the area and decide to stop by. I was greeted when i walked in. They have a variety of flavors and they are very generous with their portions. I ordered the sugar cone which was fresh and the buttee brickle which is my absolute favorite. The location was clean and the best customer service. read more

Went for Dessert Food - 5/5. Sundae was excellent in being the perfect indulgent treat. Everything was just sweet enough to be on the line of decadent, never crossing into the too-much territory. This might have been from how well crafted the sundae was, with a good ratio of fudge, ice cream and peanuts in every bite. Ice cream itself was smooth and bold in their flavors. Service - 4/5. Friendly and quick service. Value - 5/5. The regular sundae was of good size, fun to eat, and really hit the spot for your dessert cravings. It came with 2 scoops of ice cream, for a reasonable price of $9. It has the classic American ice cream shop feeling with flavors to match. Excellent spot for a sweet treat! Loard's Ice Cream began in 1950 in the 'dro. Their factory is located here. 1st tasted their ice cream in Alameda decades ago. It's been years since i licked a Loard's ice cream. Minimal decor. Service quick and cordial by Asian adult. Got a sample. A few tables inside for sitdown. Small parking lot. Offerings: ice cream, shakes, floats, sodas, sherbet freezes, packed ice cream to go Licks: 2 scoop on cone (5.95) -coffee & mango decent sized scoops Natural flavas, natural ingredients. not overly sweet, dense not soft. It's between Loards and Clancys as my favorite local ice creamery. We are an ice cream family so when I say I like Loards, it's with much affection and distinction. Honest, great flavors at very reasonable prices. We've always had excellent service at this location. Champagne sherbet and lemon chiffon as well as mocha almond fudge are my favorite. This is my favorite Loards as they have all the flavors since they are the factory store. They have improved their patio significantly and it makes it much more welcoming. My one request is to hose down the patio once a day to remove the sticky stains, but the tables are kept clean. Thank you. No bathroom so be aware. read more

I couldn't take the heat and needed some relief. I love the dedicated parking lot, it makes stopping in on the crowded dtreet so much easier. I picked up a junior sundae and the portion blew my mind. Best $6 I've spent in a long time. The young lady serving me was very patient as I made up my mind. Also the establishment is very clean with plenty of seating. read more

We were in the area and saw this old fashioned ice cream parlor which piqued my interest. We came in and there are so many options available. We ordered mocha chips fudge and lemon chiffon ice cream. The mocha chips was amazing, but my husband thought the flavor was a little too dark. The fudge was not exactly my favorite as it was so thick, but something about it kept me digging for more. The place was quiet when we came but became crowded as we waited. Mostly people were taking it to go as there is not many seating area. read more
