Peet's Coffee - MOCHA JAVIVA..... 2% NO whipped cream - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Castro Valley, California

Coffee is great. No place to sit, lots of folks sitting around for the free WiFi. Some don't have any coffee. Others using their laptops to study. Welcome to the new library! Parking is shared with Safeway and other small businesses. Parking found in less than 5 min.. read more

I have been going tot his Peet's coffee for years, so writing up this review may not be as objective as other reviews. The place all in all is a decent Peet's coffee place with friendly staff and people. Unlike it's counter part, the Starbucks close by, it is kept fairly clean and not as crowded as it is farther from the high school and there is less people who stay for too long. Bathrooms are also cleaner - very much so - and has no bad odor to them. Service is smooth and their drinks are superb. I usually order my coffee roasts here because they aren't burnt like the other Starbucks nearby. However,I order my sweeter drinks from both. Overall, this Peet's a good Peet's to go, I would go out of the way to go here instead of any other coffee places nearby (three Starbucks coffee places) if given the choice. read more

if i could only give 0 stars. This place has zero brains behind it. When I asked for pour over coffee they had no clue what to do. When I asked for drip coffee they had no clue what to do. It took 3 people to try to figure it out. Finally I got 2 bags of coffee with the wrong labesl so I have no idea which is which. I have one that says #5 which is supposed to be my pour over coffee and the other says #6 but is labeled pour over. So who knows they they really put in each bag, $40 wasted. This Peets sucks and has a really inexperienced staff! Never going back! read more

Came into Peet's today to grab a quick cup of coffee and they only had a darker roast ready. The manager overheard me asking for a light roast and came right over to offer me a pressed bean Light roast. I declined the special coffee and then she offered to brew a lighter roast. That was super nice and it was greatly appreciated. I was impressed by the cashier that was new and really Doing a great job , performed like a seasoned employee. Can't say it enough I appreciate great service and Jessica the Manager with the new employee gave excellent service. Peet's is my new choice for coffee ! "They Rock" read more

I usually like this Peet's and haven't had a problem but today they got my order wrong - I ordered a decaf mocha and I clarified with the person who made my drink that it was decaf and he responded "yes." I can tell you now, wide awake, that it was not decaf. read more

It's PEETs coffee so you know what to expect. What makes this place is nice is the staff is super friendly. Parking is always crowded due to it being a very busy plaza but otherwise a good place to pick up a quick pick me upper. They also do online ordering for you to pick up if that is your jam. read more

Best coffee anywhere. Why? Always consistent? Why ? Unlike other places , other Peets. This place always uses Sumatra , at least that is what they told me when I told them it was the best coffee I had ever had. And I mean ever. I go here whenever I can. Perhaps six times so far. 6 out of 6 times the coffee was outstanding. I suspect they have a resident barista that knows how to tweak the espresso machine from time to time. read more

Peet's Coffee - Barista, Victoria - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Castro Valley, California

I use to work here. Great coffee brewed fresh EVERY 30 minutes, great customer service from the employees, and great drinks made by the awesome/nice baristas :-) My favorite has to be an Iced tea w/ a blueberry muffin or a ham and cheese croissant. (we used to sell out of those like crazy so be early to grab them ;) ) If you ever have a problem with your drink or something was just not right, let someone know and I'm pretty sure you'll get whatever happened straightened out. Before I worked here I use to come down to study/read. It has a great atmosphere. The classical music they play helped me stay focus on school work. I still come down here to grab some coffee at times. When summer semester starts I'll be down here studying again. read more

I really enjoyed the insight the baristas share with you. They take their time customizing your drink and truly personalizing it just to your liking. I had the pleasure of enjoying a Macha Green Tea Latte and the barista took the time to explain the robust flavor and that I would soon be experiencing and even offered me various options to make the drink more enjoyable. I would recommend this location, it's easily accessible, plenty of parking, and it is a lot less pack than my usual downtown Hayward location, can't wait to come back! read more

This is my neighborhood Peet's Coffee & Tea. Every time I come in the customer service is great, there's a little bit of a long line, but it's totally worth it. This is my go-to spot for my coffee, read more

The service here is always friendly. Sometimes they can get long lines and the espresso bar will have a delay to make your drink. However there is a large space to stand while you wait for your beverage. The consistency of the drinks will vary depending in who is making them, but most of the time the espresso drinks here are hot and strong. Usually the seating is occupied both inside and outside. Parking might be a bit difficult to get and sometimes I go into the lot in front of the Safeway but I believe there is another lot behind the Peets building. read more

Being "busy" is not an excuse for crappy service. Sorry, it's true. We order here often, and today's experience has now changed that. The sandwiches we ordered were outta stock when we ArriveD...had to wait additional time for new choice... they were burned. I also added on some pumpkin oat foam for $1.25! and this was missing..We're through with this Peet's. read more

I really love Peet's and I'm at this location often. I picked up a mobile order today: coffee and iced gingerbread. When I got home, I opened the taped bag of gingerbread and could see a small hair sticking out of the icing. I pulled out the gingerbread and examined it finding another small white or blonde hair. Could be animal hair. A very busy employee answered the phone and offered to replace it when I came back. Not sure I can return after this. read more

Placed a mobile order at 8:58. Said it would be ready at 9:07. Arrived at 9:05. Waited until 9:12 to inquire about my order. They said it was next inline to be ready. 9:15 one of the three drinks came out. Asked AGAIN about my drinks at 9:20. They looked down at the tags and said the remaining drinks were next. Finally got my remaining order at 9:25! Just wow!! read more

They struggle. They struggle. They struggle to keep up with incoming business. Never have my order has been ready on time even though when I order ahead with app. Dark chocolate mocha tastes different every single time and they are out of stuff all the time. I see so many of their workers making beverages with no gloves. I am not happy with this location. read more

Still this location is lacking in customer service. Came with friend and asked what scones they had. Listened to her choices and Choose the "apricot". Sat down to a blackberry scone. Went up and showed cashier who pointed to the blackberry and said that's the apricot scone. My friend and I looked at each other and had to laugh. This woman truly had no clue. When we said no, that's a blackberry she just said not it's an apricot. Surrealism Next time I will slow the long line down and walk over to the case of treats and point. No Tall, Grande, or Venti's here so you won't get confused about what size you are getting. It's only small, medium, and large. Thank God for the clarity. I had my first ever Peet's experience here the other day and boy did I get a wake up call. The Freddos are absolutely better than a Frappucino hands down any day of the week. They have a soy option for the Freddos which is awesome for a lactose intolerant ticking time bomb like myself. No soy Frappucinos at Starbucks so I usually have to make sure a restroom is easily accessible after having one. The Freddos aren't as sweets as a Frappucino but tastes a lot better. It's made better, you don't get leftover flavorless ice on after sipping on the thing for 10 minutes. Boy have I been missing out. This whole time I thought "Peetniks" were pretentious pricks who love the smell of their own farts. Always saying that Starbuck's coffee was for the cretins. I now understand. The location here has awesome service and nice peeps working. They seem to know a lot of their customers by name so it has that "I care about you feel" rather than the Starbuck's "Get you shit and get out of here feel". I can now walk around smelling my own farts because they now smell like roses. Thanks Peets! read more

Let me start by saying that I love Peet's in general, and I've been to many a Peet's. Now that that's out of the way... This is my least favorite Peet's so far. Every time I go into this one I feel totally unwelcome. This last time that I went the guy who helped me wasn't paying attention to me and I had to repeat myself 4 times. Then he proceeded to mock me. While I was waiting for my boyfriends drink, the barista who was making drinks started shouting out rudely because a customer didn't instantaneously pick up their drink. then she started yelling at the people taking the orders. I've never had a good interaction with the baristas at this Peet's. The product is always good, but the service here is always terrible. read more

It's time to pile on, because I'm really tired of the awful service at this Peet's location. I've been drinking Peet's coffee since 1979, at locations throughout the Bay Area. I was pretty excited when this location opened, because I didn't have to drive to Dublin to get my beans any more. However, I've pretty much decided I'd rather drive half an hour than put up with the surly, arrogant service at this location. And it's not just one or two people, it is the culture of this particular store. I don't understand it, because at no other location does the staff behave this poorly. read more

A 2 because I ordered a nearly $6 drink and and when I ask the alarmingly curt barista for a sample of their featured coffee, she quickly replies, "...not today." A 2 because I had to interrupt a 10 second gossip session - talking about customers - to ask for a cup without sticky sugar syrup spotted all over the cup, of my $6 drink. Since when is it OK for employees to loudly talk about customers or fellow co-workers? What is the policy on coffee sampling? Every single time I go to Peets, they have refused to sample. I use a french press every single morning, is it really that difficult to run a press? read more

Being a loyal, if sporadic, customer to this Peet's location for nigh on two years now, I can comfortably say that I know this Peet's pretty damn well. The coffee drinks that I get (frou-frou though they may be) are always delicious, though sometimes I wonders if they forget to add the soy that I request. I don't understand the other reviews because, to me, the baristas here are very friendly and are usually willing to strike up a conversation with people at the registers (though maybe they're friendlier to me and the boy because we're sporadic regulars here?). The store is also very neatly kept and the bathrooms don't make a person want to gag and turn right back around and run shrieking out of the store (always a plus, trust me). Unfortunately, the parking for this location usually frustrates the hell out of me. In part, it has to do with the fact that this Peet's shares a parking lot with a giant Safeway and a few other stores besides. Though if you can get parking right in front of Peet's in that green, 20-minute zone, you pretty much luck out because the time limit isn't enforced (as far as I'm aware of, anyway). Another downer is that, because the location is pretty small, it's usually hard to find a table to one's self -- especially if you need to plug in a laptop or a phone charger because the power outlets are few and far between (there's one on the far left and far right wall when you first walk into the store; that's it). If you plan on studying here, the baristas will give you a wifi code that gives you access to their internet for an hour with the purchase of your drink and/or pastry. However, when your hour runs out and if you need another code for more time, I simply go back up to the register and politely ask for another code -- and I have yet to be turned down, so I suggest to others to give that option a try at least before ripping into Peet's for having a time limit on the wifi use. If you're here right when school lets out, too, you also often get loud and rude teenagers from the nearby high school storming through the store asking for multiple cups of ice water, interrupting your precious study/reading time. It has the potential to be relaxing though; you just have to catch the store at the right time (though what time that is, I couldn't honestly tell you -- I'm usually here either during the morning rush or during the after school/after work rush). read more

I know how how much we all love to hate coffee shop chains, but Peet's has lured me in with promises of "Real Scharffenberger Chocolate" in their frozen drinks. As a chocolate-aholic, I had to see if it was as good as it sounded. Unfortunately, I went to the new Peet's in Castro Valley because I am here to take care of my parent's dogs. I know this location is new, so I tried to be patient. I think my first sign of doom was when I heard one of the barristas talking to herself about the drink she was making so loudly that the entire store became aware of her recently-trained status. Aside from that, I ended up waiting almost 15 minutes for my drink! Under no circumstances should a store so empty keep me waiting so long for caffeine, it felt like an eternity. Luckily, that Scharffenberger Freddo was the best tasting coffee confection I have ever had, so I give them 3 stars for not screwing it up. (and one pity star because they are so obviously new at this that I have hope for the future) read more

I come here when I have time to relax and enjoy my cup of jo. Peet's has a way better taste than Starbuck's by FAR....It's just a little slower than the Bucks, so I come here when I have the extra time. I like the Americano and it's pretty darn potent at Peet's. I appreciate the fact the patrons here are not waste product teenagers like they are over at the Village bucks...I can actually sit outside without feeling intimidated by a bunch of chain-smoking hoodlems hanging out after high school. Ya know even when I was in high school, we hung out, but not like they do now. It's pretty obnoxious! Back to Pete's, the customer service is pretty good and I've actually got to party with a few baristas and they are darn cool! read more

Gone a little downhill as far as service and I've been going here for over 10 years. They are often out of certain items and coffee and are frequently dismissive of the fact that although I check in, my points do not show up, obviously due to incorrect register process on their part. read more

I mosey down here to feed my fresh ground coffee addiction. I pick up a pound every once in awhile for a treat. If I was wealthy I would have a life time supply of Peet's with my very own barista but that is not happening anytime soon. This location is always packed with people socializing, reading or on the Internet. If you feel like sitting for a bit you might have a hard time finding a chair/table. The staff is friendly, efficient and quick! I walk in and out within 10 minutes with my black bag and a complimentary coffee. They offer a free small hot drip or ice coffee when you purchase beans. If you aren't in the mood for it they will give you a card for a free one to use later on. But hey who isn't in the mood for a little coffee goodness?? The baked goodies are also great. I try not to gawk and drool on the case while I'm in line. The store has always been clean and organized even at the condiment area which can get pretty messy. Parking can be difficult since it is located in a shopping center near Safeway. It gets very busy there on the weekends and in the evening hours. read more

it's sad, but the customer service is, at times, unbelievable for a coffee shop. I am a grad student who has pretty much lived inside coffee shops for the last 6+ years, as I can never get any work done at home...and I've never really thought about CS at a coffee joint before, let along bother to write review. I use to live in Castro Valley years ago. Once an employee was so rude to me (for his mistake), that I never went back. A few months later I moved to Fremont, so it didn't matter. Now that I've moved back to the area, it was on my way back from Trader Joes so I stopped by. Did not have a good experience. the store was not busy at all. I was not helped and waited about 3-4 minutes. I was standing directly in front of the cashier, in the open register (only 1 register was open at the time). She was doing something with the register, like counting it, but it was taking a really long time. About 3-4 minutes later, a white middle-aged lady walks in, stands at a distance from the closed register trying to read the menu. Immediately, and I do mean immediately, the cashier addresses her and wants to take her order. [note: I am standing 2 feet from her and directly in front of her and the other lady was 10 feet away and way off to the side, not at a register and not ready to order] [she has to call out to the lady several times because the lady was so far away and still looking that she didn't even know that she was being addressed] [I'm standing there thinking wtf, I'm right here] When she saw that I had a dirty look on my face, she very confidently stated: she was here first, so she gets to go first, like I was a small child, and needed to understand it's impolite to cut people in line. I felt so petty at that moment, and in a normal circumstance if the other lady wants to go first, I wouldn't care, but I was just in shock. I know it's petty, and I'm usually not petty (I swear), nor was I in a hurry, but being ignored and then the attitude did not sit well with me. it's interesting as I'm reading other reviews I'm sensing a theme. I have met friendly employees there as well (usually when I go buy beans, not when I go get coffee) read more

I love Peet's for what Peet's has got... I love Peet's for what Peet's has not. Love the excellent coffee, as usual. Service was not as slow as molasses, but it wasn't lightning fast either. It may be a chain, but I haven't found a broken link yet. Woot! read more

Who doesn't love Peet's!!! The Castro Valley location is brand new and already has a following. Though staff is still new, but is catching on fairly fast. I frequent this location regularly- and although there can be quite a line sometimes, the service is well worth the wait- and for those in a rush, mobile ordering has FINALLY arrived. WOOHOO! Naomi, Victoria, Anthony, and Brandon are the ones that I cross paths with regularly and they are AMAZING!! They are always going above and beyond to ensure drinks are perfect (I will throw myself under the bus and say my drink is particularly annoying, but they never complain). They focus on providing legendary service through friendly, genuine connection. I love how much they always take the extra moment to check in about my kids, my week, or what's new. They focus on body language to identify who's in a hurry and who has a moment to connect, and they are stellar at remembering your drink if you visit more than once. What sets this location apart from other coffee spots (other than the amazing White Mocha's they make!) is the local community vibe; this team really focuses on creating that. Everyone here connects and chats, and if you're new, they welcome you warmly. If there are experiences that aren't great- which happens, they're human- they work diligently to correct it and provide an incredible makeup. Peets Crew- thanks for being so fabulous and making my mornings that much better! My kids and I are so thankful for you and your perfectly crafted White Mochas and "kids coffee". read more
