We stumbled upon Pauli's while looking for another restaurant to eat at with no wait on a Saturday evening. Omg- Guy Fieri rated must try Lobsta Roll & Rainaiscrazy did a challenge here!? I'm sold. This is a small sandwich shop with limited seating, the staff here are very friendly & chill. Ordered 3 lobster rolls- opted for the hot buttered since they said most people get that & I never had a hot lobster roll before. Were they small? Yes. Expensive? Yes. Was it worth trying? Absolutely! The lobster rolls were packed with chunks of lobster meat & mayo with hot butter on a soft, grilled hot dog bun. Lobster meat was plump- tasted fresh, sweet & tender. Mmm...sooo freakin' delicious! I think I went to lobster heaven. My kids loved it too, guess it was that good... we enjoyed every bite. I agree with Guy Fieri- the Lobsta Roll is definitely a must try! :p

For the price, not impressed. 1. Lobster meat not fresh at all, and noticeably so. 2. Small rolls for the price (yes, lobster is expensive. Yes, there are bigger rolls with more meat for the same price in similar areas) 3. The toast on the bread and the bread itself was subpar Sadly wouldn't recommend based on my experience with the lobster roll. Maybe their sandwiches are good? Also, just as a heads up, minimal seating (grab and go vibes). Staff was also very sweet and friendly

Hot Buttered Lobster Roll and Onion Rings

They really don't need my review as most everyone knows Pauli's has great lobster rolls. Had the classic cold and the Hot Buttered with onion rings. Of course everything was great.

Got a chance to try Pauli's using a food delivery service after seeing them highlighted on a rerun of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. They prepared our order very quickly and everything was packed well, and the food was outstanding. The lobsta roll included 7 oz of tender lobster just kissed with lemon and mayo and nestled in a grilled roll--delish. It also came with Utz original chips. The creamy clam chowder was an excellent complement too. The steak pizzaiola sandwich was stuffed with shaved tender steak with American cheese and topped with a tangy marinara sauce -- tasty and filling, especially with the sub roll. The Fat Felix was all that it was billed to be, with shaved steak mixed with grilled onions and gooey cheese and chopped bacon--an elevated cheesesteak for sure. Look forward to trying other menu items on my next visit.

Last stop before I went home and it was great. Went at 10 am and they serve the entire menu so you don't have to wait till 11. The roll is great, on the more expensive side but worth it. The place is small so I would grab food and enjoy at the park.

I was in the area recently and heard from friends that I had to try the local lobster rolls and clam chowder. On my hike along the Freedom Trail, I stopped by here to refuel and take a break. I went with the Hot Buttered Lobster Roll. I really liked the lobster to bread ratio. There was so much lobster that it kept falling out. Lobster was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of butter. I also went with the large New England Clam Chowder. The chowder was very flavorful, but a bit watery compared to what I'm used to. I don't think it's something I would ding a star for, but I would consider it a local preference. There were plenty of clams and a fair amount of potatoes. If I'm in the area again, I wouldn't mind coming back to try other items on their menu.

I was recommended to go to Pauli's for lobster rolls. I had previously tried a lobster roll out in Westborough, and I was genuinely disappointed. This place redeemed whatever it was I had in Framingham. The place is pretty small. I just ordered at the counter, and the person taking my order was super friendly. Wish I got their name for a shout-out. There's not a lot of seating in the establishment; it feels like the place is meant for a very quick meal. FOOD: I got a hot buttered lobster roll and it came with a side of chips. I actually ran into the owner while I was there, and he had explained that their lobster rolls are unique in the sense that they actually toss their lobster meat in a pan with butter. You can really taste it. Buttery lobster heaven. Would definitely come again if I'm back in Boston. I could probably eat ten of those hot buttered lobster rolls in one sitting and have no regrets.

One of my lobster rolls in the city and it didn't disappoint. Large chunks of sweet buttery lobster all on a nicely toasted roll. This place does it right!

I remember enjoying my lobster roll a lot more a few years ago when I last had it here. This time around, something about the lobster (temperature, texture) seemed like it really was just taken out of the fridge and put on a bun (which was nicely toasted at least). I'm a little wary about coming back for a lobster roll again, but would be willing to try something else! Otherwise, service was quick and it wasn't too crowded inside.

Pauli's is a casual sandwich shop in Boston's North End that has become well known for its lobster rolls, while also serving a wide variety of sandwiches, soups, and comfort food. We walked into a simple counter-service space with limited indoor seating, the kind of place that feels more like a grab-and-go stop than a sit-down lunch spot. Even with its small footprint, there was a steady stream of customers coming in for one of the signature sandwiches, and the energy of the room stayed practical and focused on getting orders out efficiently. The lobster roll is the clear standout. We ordered one and found it generously filled with lobster meat, making it feel substantial compared to many other lobster rolls around the city. Whether you choose it hot with butter or cold with mayo, the focus stays on the lobster itself rather than overwhelming it with extra ingredients. The toasted roll added just enough texture without taking away from the filling. Although the lobster roll gets most of the attention, the rest of the menu offers plenty of options if seafood is not what you are looking for. There are oversized sandwiches, soups like clam chowder, and classic sides that make it easy to find something for different tastes. The portions are generous overall, making the prices feel reasonable considering the amount of food you receive. The service was quick and efficient, which fits the fast-paced counter-service concept. The staff moved through orders with speed, and the food came out without much delay. The biggest thing to keep in mind is the limited seating, especially during lunch hours or peak tourist seasons in the North End. If the dining area is full, taking your food to go or finding a nearby outdoor spot can be a better option. Overall, Pauli's is a great stop if you are looking for a satisfying lobster roll without an overly formal seafood restaurant experience. The generous portions, straightforward menu, and convenient location make it an easy place to visit while exploring the North End, especially if lobster rolls are at the top of your list.

First meal in Boston and we were looking for lobster rolls that were open at 9AM and Pauli's was it! A short drive from the airport through a small street but that early in the morning, we got parking right away. I found this spot on Yelp but when we arrived, I see that it was also featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Dive-ins and Dives at one point. There's photos of the owners with famous folks along the walls. Inside is more of a take-out setting bu there is some seating within with small tables and bar seating along the front window. Food took about 10-15 minutes to come out and you pick your chips at the counter. We ordered the hot and cold lobster rolls and clam chowder. Our first rolls of the drip and these were good! The prices were a little steep, but in our New England journey, all the lobster rolls were around this price around $30. Lobster rolls are filled with 7oz of lobster on a grilled New England style hot dog roll. We got one cold and one hot version. The lobster was good, and had some bouncy meat portions. Cold was tossed in some mayo/lemon combo and the meat felt more dense (likely because cold). The bread itself was a fine vessel but you had to eat it relatively fast, could be more grilled in my opinion. Clam chowder was a medium thickness, and some clam pieces in there. Overall, I'm happy we picked this spot as our Boston lobster roll. Definitely a solid start to the copious amount of lobster we tried on this trip!

So it's a little off the beaten path sort of tricky to get to and find, but well worth it! Lobster was good I would say 3 outta 5 but the claim chowder.. that's where it's at ! Full of claims not potatoes and was soo good! Picked the perfect cool rainy day too.. it's a soup kinda day! I think the lobster would have been better with butter or aioli something to go along with it .. just meat and a bun.. but it was good not bad by any means..

We were greeted upon arrival, which is always great. Seating is limited to some counters, probably about 5-6 people max. There was enough space under the counter to store our luggage because we were traveling. We ordered the lobster roll and the England Clam Chowder. The lobster roll was good but I wouldn't say it's worth it's price. It came out much smaller than I thought, but that's my fault. I was hoping there was some more garnish or cheese or something added to the roll and lobster was a bit dry imo. Nonetheless, it was good, don't get me wrong, just not what I thought it would be.Clam chowder was delish!! I would definitely order the clam chowder again! I would come back to try their other options if I'm ever in Boston again

My first introduction…read moreended up being at a corporate event in Boston's Seaport district, where lunch arrived courtesy of one of the city's best-known sandwich shops. The catering was impressive. Before anyone even took a bite. Every half sandwich was individually wrapped and clearly labeled, with salads and sides neatly organized, making it easy for a large group to grab lunch without the usual catering chaos. The choices were wide and varied. We took our lunches upstairs to a rooftop seating area overlooking the Seaport, which made for a pretty great setting on a beautiful afternoon. I chose the Gobbler, and it lived up to the hype I've since read in other reviews. At first glance it sounds like a Thanksgiving leftover sandwich, but it's much more than that. The turkey was fresh and flavorful, and it was complemented by stuffing, cranberry sauce, spinach, pepper jack cheese, and just enough chipotle mayo to add an unexpected kick, without overwhelming everything else. It's one of those combinations that sounds busy on paper but comes together remarkably well. I spoke with several others over lunch, and they were equally impressed with their choices. That's always a good sign when you're feeding a crowd. It's one thing to make a great sandwich to order; it's another to deliver dozens of them catered while maintaining that level of quality. Since this was catered, I can't really comment on the restaurant itself. The service on the catering side, however, was evident in how thoughtfully everything was prepared and packaged, and the rooftop setting where we enjoyed lunch certainly didn't hurt. Needless to say, this won't be my last Sam LaGrassa's sandwich. I fully intend to visit the restaurant one of these days, and in the meantime I'll spend some time trying to recreate that Gobbler at home (maybe with sliced roasted chicken, but also with turkey when I have it). It was that good.

I've had this bookmarked for quite some time and finally made the decision to stop by. I ordered…read morethe Southwestern Pastrami (no bbq sauce) and my partner ordered the Chicken Mafia. He ate his fresh and liked it enough to want to go back. He felt it was big enough to split into 2 meals, which is a plus since the prices here are pretty steep. I had mine cold, so I didn't like it as much. The tomatoes made the bread soggy, but the sandwich was packed with pastrami. The pickles they give though... so good and a perfect bite in between each sandwich bite or a good lil snack at the end. I like how they pack everything for take out. The boxes are secure, they don't skimp on the sauces and wrap them in plastic wrap and the pickles are in mini ziploc bags to ensure the juices don't spill on everything. Very thoughtful packaging. Since I ordered for pick up, they do have curbside where you double park out front and they can bring it to you, or you can run in and tell them the name it's under and they'll hand it to you when ready. For a Tuesday afternoon, service is not fast nor slow. The inside of the restaurant gave deli vibes, which I personally like. It's quite busy and they have some cool signs and photos up. I'll definitely be back to try it fresh!

Walking through the front door is like walking through a secret portal to Italy (I'm not kidding). The smells and sights of fresh meat hanging from the ceiling is what I imagine heaven to be like! I ordered the Italian sub. First of all, it is HUGE in both length and circumference. One sub can easily be split between two people. The bread-to-meat ratio is perfect. I could taste each individual ingredient with every bite, which is a unique experience that only happens when everything is fresh and flavorful as can be. I think this place just ruined subs for me because no other will come close to being THIS good. If I were on death row, this sandwich would be part of my last meal. I feel like I cannot adequately put into words just how amazing it is. Do yourself a favor and check this place out sooner than later! :)

As the name "Mercato" implies, it's not a restaurant, so no place to eat, no place to "do your business" after, and if you've made it to the north end, you already know there's no place to park. -- Italian Sandwich: Long, soft bread, kinda like the kind you had in your school cafeteria, only a million times softer, a million times more crackly, and a million times better. Setting the base are oil, balsamic vinegar, lettuce, tomato, pickles, hots, and provolone. Italian sandwiches usually come flat-stacked or in a C-shape. Here, it's a fluffy stack, with the VERY-thin-sliced-to-order meats-- prosciutto, mortadella, salami-- piled generously but delicately, like tissue paper. More oil and balsamic on the other side seals the deal. It's a glorious sandwich that'll fill you up with the first half, but you'll want to keep eating the second half, because it's so good. The deep flavors of the meats comes through, and that's soft, crunchy bread is a delight. Pro tip #1: Get it with a small side of pesto. Have some bites with, some bites without. The staff is so nice and it's Boston, low key all around. I'd like to officially put my bid in for the seasonal Korean "Good for the Seoul" BBQ sandwich to find a home on the permanent menu. It just ended in July and I am heartbroken. My taste buds are piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissed to say the least. It was the sandwich that dreams are made of: soft (yet firm) seeded roll, thin fresh cooked chicken cutlets, cabbage slaw, pickled carrots, gochujang BBQ sauce and sriracha mayo. I stood in 85 humid sunny Boston heat for 20-25 min for it. Yes, it's that good. It's heaven on a bun! I've gotten the Drunken Parm, the Hogan, and the Caprese as well. All solid and delicious. I've never gotten one I didn't like. They are pleasant and open to customizing them as well. i.e. no lettuce, extra onion, BBQ on the side. I'm also not sure how, but Thomas the cashier remembers my name every time. That's SO impressive. I mean, I know I don't blend like most, but still, my name among all those people all week long at all the locations? I feel honoured to say the least. Seriously. I didn't get a picture of the BBQ sandwich because honestly, I had devoured it before realizing I should have. whoops. I did get a pic of the Hogan and will post that soon. The good: All of it. and I mean ALL OF IT. You can opt to get chicken, eggplant or one cutlet of each if you're feeling swanky. The location - this is good and bad. Good right by my building and bad that it moves down to Dewey Sq other days. BOO! The bad: The line. They open at 11:30am at Rowes Wharf and there is a line that starts to form at 11:15. I got there today at 11:20 and there were 8 people ahead of me. I might bring a lounge chair with me one of these days. The cost. I personally don't feel it's outrageous. It's a food truck in Boston on the Wharf and it's phenomenal. However, that said I think it's at the cap of what I would spend. I feel it's worth it for what you get. it's $15 for 1/2 and $20 for full sandwich. Pro Tip: psssst, get the full and take 1/2 home. Or eat it if you can't control yourself. I won't berate you for that. I don't consider it bad, but some do.. they cap you at 4 sandwiches per order. If you want more, get catering. And invite me over. Cheers!

Upon Entering there was already a line two people before me. 1 waiting for food and the other waiting to order. The workers were busy making subs. and it took about 5 min before the 1st guy got his food, the 2nd guy ended up leaving ordering nothing. After he got his food I waited another 11 minutes just standing there, every so often an employee would look at me and one finally said they would be right with me. over 10 minutes is too long.
