First time in today for lunch. Had the lasagna with meat sauce. The lasagna was good but I did not care for the meat sauce as it was a little overpowering. Service was excellent and prompt. Prices were average. View from the outdoor seating was excellent as well. read more

We decided to give this restaurant a try and basically it was OK. We went on Wednesday and enjoyed half off pricing on wine - good deal. The service was excellent. The food was average at best. read more

Excellent location!!! friendly staff and delicious food for a great price! We were seated right away on the outside patio, really loved the view on the river. We ordered the spicy sausage spaghetti, spaghetti marinara, ziti with meatballs and garlic bread. Everything was really good and we were even more surprised after getting the check. If ever again in town, we will definitely come back! read more

This place is incredible! Water view, outside fireplace by the river, excellent service, amazing food. If you have kids you can appreciate a meal coming fast when they are hungry. Careful service, Mini forks brought out specially for kids, super nice calm, quiet but pleasant and not pretentious environment. Groups of older people and young groups, not loud, very friendly staff, sincerely the best experience I've had since moving from LA. A must try if you are visiting or if you live in Bend! My mom had the ravioli with shrimp and there were so many shrimp! Lasagna delicious, kids had pasta with Gorgonzola cheese and spinach. More than 10 vegetarian options! Just incredible! We will be back for sure! read more

SO. BAD. This is the 2nd and final time we will eat at Pastinis. Most pastas are in the $16 range per plate- not even hand made pasta! With a salad and beverage you're not getting out of here for less than $25 per person, and it tastes like airplane food. read more

Absolutely the worst experience on an online order. 50 minute delay for plain pasta and a salad. Manager had no solution other than refund my money or wait another hour--really! Highly recommend choosing a different restaurant next time your in Bend. read more

We came here tonight for the first time to have some good Italian food, we were disappointed. Not only were the servings small, but the service was even worse. Our waitress never came back to see how we were doing, never checked to see if wanted extra drinks, and never came to offer us pepper for our salads. And the restaurant wasn't even full, so what was their problem? When it came time to pay the bill, they took our credit card, but left our dirty dishes in front of us. With all the good reviews this restaurant been getting, I don't understand how they could screw this one up. We won't be coming back here, as there are better Italian restaurants to eat and have much better service here in Bend. read more

Disappointed in the food. Disappointed in the wine just a big ol disappointment. Also, they charged 2.50$ for an extra basket of bread!! Just give us the damn bread for free. Luckily the Wait staff were nice read more

We were staying at the Hampton inn and looking for a late night dinner. Pastini was the closest option and we were very surprised with how tasty the food was. We got the spicy shrimp pasta and it was full of flavor. It also happen to be wine Wednesday which gave us half off a bottle! Great service and fresh yummy food read more

Despite neither myself nor the manager pronouncing "orecchiette" pasta correctly, the dish came out wonderfully. Pasta with arugula, crumbled sausage, tomatoes... fresh and did not leave me feeling "heavy". Cremosa (Italian Soda with whipped cream) - half orange/half vanilla - was a nice treat! Reminded me of the popsicles I'd get when I was younger. I'd get this again... but sparingly! Bruschetta here is odd. They serve the topping in a "paste ball". Looked like playdoh. It was easily spread on their large pieces of grilled bread... I prefer the fresh tomatoes/basil/garlic topping recipe myself. Service was as bit slow - especially considering the place wasn't too crowded. But we weren't short on time so patience was on our side. Tip: They offer a small discount if you bring in your movie ticket for a movie you just came from.... dinner and a movie discount - cool! read more

Come here and experience what a true 3 1/2 star average Yelp rating means. The host was really nice, and very accommodating to push some tables together outside for a large group of us. Our waitress was more of a miss. No offer to explain how the place works (do we get bread with our meal, what's included, how about salad?) Sorry but with Olive Garden normalizing everyone to salad and bread sticks people are going to expect certain things, and if yo don't do that here...no problem, just make sure let us know the deal. Especially when we finally ask "what's the deal?" We made it clear we were splitting checks in the beginning, always want to be accommodating when we know this sort of thing can be a pain. "No problem, I can do that at the end" she said. Great! Garlic bread was good. Pest garlic bread, was only okay. Served with marinara which is nice, but I would have preferred more toasted/flavorful bread. We each got a different dish. All of them were competently made, but not one of them was great. They were all good. Better than Olive Garden? Sure. By a lot? No. We had to ask 4 times, and watch three different people try and turn on the outdoor heater. How hard should this be? When the bill came (with no offer of dessert) we were presented with a single check, and told to write down what we ordered. Wait. What!? We told you we wanted split checks, we all ordered our own dishes, why do we have to pass a single bill around (with one pen) to seven people to do this manually? This is YOUR job! This place seems like one that tourists go to (I was one) and never come back. I can't imagine as a local there is any reason to be a repeat customer. Nice host. Poor waitress. Decent food. Clunky outdoor heaters. Poor check management. read more

We stopped by here for dinner on a Friday night. It was crowded outside, but a barren desert inside. If you don't mind the wait, eating outside is great. Beautiful water. They start by serving you bread, as any good Italian joint should. The bread is okay, typical restaurant bread. You eat more than you should, though you know it doesn't taste as good as you're making it out to be in your stomach. They'll serve you a lot of it though, So that's a bonus...or not.. The salads are good, with a stronger fish taste in the caesar dressing than you're probably used to, but it's not awful. You can't go wrong with salads here. I got a penne dish with sun dried tomatoes, and it was great. Creamy and flavorful without being overpowering. Aside from the one random spaghetti noodle in my penne, it was awesome. Overall, a great place to meet with family or friends. If you go around 8, you'll get hardly anyone eating inside. read more

This was my third visit within the last 6 months and I have mixed feelings about Pastini. All three times the food has been good, my wife would say fantastic. Prices are reasonable and dinning on the back patio can be perfect. But all three times I've been underwhelmed by the service, to the point I have no desire to return. The last visit was typical from my experience - upon the first visit to the table the waitress noticed my water glass was almost empty and said "I'll get that refilled when I come back." She took our order but the glass was never refilled...ever, not even during our meal. Second issue was asking the waitress for salt and pepper after our food arrived. Again I was told "I'll be right back with that." And it never happened. Those are relatively minor issues and I could have certainly spoken up and asked again for a water refill and condiments for the table. But I've received similar service all three visits and am not impressed. So food and ambiance are great but I'm not sold on the service. read more

Really? Tiny portions and I like small plates but 6 butternut squash ravioli for $16?! Leaving an Italian restaurant hungry for the first time in my life! $60 and we are both still hungry! My shrimp scampi were served rubbery in a watery sauce with stale ciabatta bread. The Caprese lacked flavor and the ravioli were scarce. No bread for the table? Save yourself the disappointment and skip Pastini. The view outside is free, bring your own picnic! read more

Gosh, I tried to be a good sport and contact them discreetly, but no ability to email them via their website and I'm not going to call and chat with the 18 year old hostess about it. Anyway, I like Pastini. Food is pretty good though you won't be blown away by flavor highs and lows. Kinda just all around good. Servers are decent. Never had a truly bad one, but sometimes you have to literally flag one down. However, the last couple of times I've gone (we go there somewhat frequently as my husband works right by) it has been dirty. The holder for the oil and vinegar was gross. I don't mean some balsamic dripped; it was nasty. Then, on a trip to the restroom, there was gunk in the corners of the stalls. Admittedly, things get dirty on floors, but this was a case of someone mopping around the dirt and not getting into the corners because it was too difficult. There are lots of restaurants I can go to that are spotless every time. Even though I like Pastini, I have to admit it makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. Do I really want food from a place that doesn't take cleanliness to a new high standard? read more

I wish I could grade 3.5 stars. I really like this place, but the inconsistency drives me nuts. Pros: good location. You can enjoy lunch or an evening dinner outside and watch people on the river or paths. They have a decent menu, my favorite is the basil pesto pasta with chicken (and kicked up with extra pesto & garlic). My daughters like the grilled portobello panini. Most of their choices are reasonably priced, sometimes rare in Bend. Cons: The service is slow, even on quiet days (I think management tries to save money on labor - staff your restaurant!). Most servers are quite good and cheerful. The last few times I've been given dirty glasses, silverware & plates. Another reviewer mentioned cleanliness too, so this may be getting serious. I eat here regularly, so I will be keeping a sharp eye on this. read more

There were tons of seats available in the main dining area and outside, but we are sat right in front of where the restrooms and the kitchen is. Which means we have people yelling orders, staff running back and forth, and customers coming in and out of the bathrooms. In addition, the lady taking our orders was extremely rude. We will not be coming back here. read more

Oddly enough there aren't very many Italian restaurants in Bend. I was on a hunt for farfalle, sweet sausage and basil to pick-up for a friend that was getting in town late. I called two other Italian restaurants that couldn't accommodate my take-out request. Pastini Pastaria was able to make it happen. I ordered at 9:30P and it was ready when I arrived 15mins later. They get an extra star for accommodating me. I didn't eat the food so not sure how it tasted but it looked good and my friend was super happy with his late-night meal. read more

When I was doing gluten free restaurant research before my family and I went to Bend, I stumbled across this little gem. Initially there seemed to be many places with gluten free options in Bend. However, after a little digging there were about four when I eliminated the cross contaminated places. I ended up eating here four times while staying in Bend, IT'S THAT GOOD. I had read on here that they serve gluten free pasta and was very excited to try it. We decided to do take out and inquired about doing gluten free calamari. One of the managers, Lane, came over to help us and when we suggested sauteing, he said no problem. Great start Pastini, the customer is always right. We received our order about 20 minutes later, both the calamari and pasta were delicious. I had the gluten free pasta with marinara sauce. Very good, the pasta was cooked perfectly(most restaurants tend to undercook gluten free pasta). I am almost certain they use Tinkyada brand pasta for the gluten free. The rest of my family enjoyed their meals as well. One note though, the portions are pretty big for the non gluten free meals. They can make the majority of the dishes gluten free, with the exception of the meatballs which are made with wheat flour and the caesar salad dressing. Gluten free options are clearly advertised on their menu and website. They know what they're doing and follow through with it. Gluten free pasta is prepared separately and gluten free dishes have italian flags to tell them apart from the non gluten free. Bravo! The next time we ate at the restaurant and sat outside on their patio. Pastini and the other restaurants along the river have beautiful views. Normally I prefer to eat inside, but not here, the view was too good to pass up. Our server was friendly and was not phased when I asked for gluten free. Always a good sign for a restaurant when the servers know about gluten free. The food was just as good as the first time. My mom had the Primavera and said it was excellent. The other two times we had takeout, the food was very good, no change. One thing though, sometimes the pasta orders can leak a bit in the bags while you're carrying it. The price is very reasonable; for four entrees and two orders of calamari it was a little over $50, pretty damn good. Overall, the staff is very nice and accommodating to gluten free options. I love italian food, especially pasta. I'm overjoyed this restaurant exists. I will definitely return the next time I visit Bend. read more

First time with my family tonight and the only thing good about this restaurant was the location. I ordered a seafood linguini dish that was bland and greasy. Garlic bread was just oily and no garlic flavor at all. My wife had the same complaints about her food. The kids were indifferent. I hope I'm not being too critical but as an Italian this place was not anywhere near to my expectations. Gave this place a second try after management reached out. I would have to say that a nice busy weekend evening made all the difference. Much better food and great all around service. Thank you. read more

Amazing restaraunt with some of the nicest staff I have ever encountered. ! Came in with a party of six and the server was very friendly and helpful, even during peak hours. The manager, Katie, came by on two occasions to make sure we were enjoying our meals, and again to thank us for coming in. We will definitely be back! read more

Decided to go here for our anniversary dinner tonight because the outdoor patio looked very inviting in the late afternoon sunshine. We had a table with a view of the river. Service was excellent. We shared a large garden salad. I had the pasta special (penne, tomatoes, peas, mushrooms, Italian sausage, cream and parmesan-it was a special offering off of their original menu) and our server made sure it was especially saucy, as I had requested. It arrived saucy and had a rosé color due to the cream mixed with the fresh tomatoes. Hubby ordered the lasagna which was a bit disappointing because it was bland and barely warm on the inside. He ended up eating most of my pasta and we brought the leftovers home to doctor them up. The menu has a number of non-alcoholic beverage offerings that are not fountain drinks, which was a pleasant surprise for this non-drinker. The berry ginger cooler was tasty. They were out if our chosen dessert, so we headed off to find that treat elsewhere. read more

Diners who arrive at Pastini's Pastaria of Bend during peak dinner hours may be asked to wait for a table, and while pondering the decor and observing the other restaurant patrons the famous Garrison Keillor's Lake Woebegone quote just might wander unbidden through your mind, "... where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average." Clearly, this is not in Lake Woebegone, it's Bend, Oregon -- even if there are quite a few families here, and they do appear to be well above average, good-looking and ... strong. Pastini's is tucked away behind Allison's Kitchen along the river at the Old Mill District. A warm cozy atmosphere draws customers in and generous portions of delectable Italian cuisine keep them coming back. Proclaimed on a blackboard above the bar as a cut above the 'large corporate chains', Pastini's touts themselves as 'local' having launched their first restaurant in Portland. Today there are more than a few Pastini's in Portland, one in Corvallis and now one in Bend. Local? Maybe. But their food is definitely worth trying, the service is super-speedy and their wine list is wonderful. The prices are moderate, but be warned; the entrée's are ala cart, so in order to get a salad with your meal you need to order it separately. Speaking of salads Pastini's offers an interesting twist on the usual dinner salad by offering a sampler of any three of their nine over-the-top salads. Another thing that is striking about Pastini's menu is the large number of vegetarian dishes offered. Everything from Spaghetti Agi E Olio (simple pasta sautéed garlic and olive oil, fresh basil and parmesan) to something more elaborate called Orecchiete Toscana (small, ear-shaped pasta with arugula, cannellini beans, broccolini, balsamic onions, breadcrumbs, chili flakes, garlic and parmesan). Even for those who may not be interested in the vegetarian versions, there are loads of pasta offerings served with chicken, seafood and of course beef, lamb and pork. But no matter what entrée choice is, be sure to check out the wine offerings, and pay particular attention to those listed on the table as current 'specials'. A glass of Pastini's special wine is sure to make any pasta dish taste like a cut above the rest. And, who knows, by the time you are ready to leave you will certainly be well satisfied, and you might feel a bit above average yourself. read more

If I could post a picture of my pesto linguine, I would, it was pure soup. Flavorless. I've been here once before, and found it decent. Can tell the place is short staff and our server is completely stressed out. Tried to show my family a good time, instead became embarrassed. I would recommend Trattoria Sbandati and I won't be back here. For the price, go to Olive garden. At least that food chain is consistent. That, plus our waiter Douglas charged us for a bottle of wine twice, we ordered a large Caesar salad and got 2 halves by mistake, but charged for all. And I don't like to blame the server for the bland taste, he asked and we knew they were short staff and didn't want to spend more time sitting and waiting. Instead we expressed we won't come back, bc this experience was dreadful, and had to double check our recipe three times. I had to compare with the menu. Sorry Douglas, but this wasn't your night or the restaurant, and for 72 dollars for 3ppl, I just can't go back. read more

Okay, this place really was not what I would expect for a restaurant in the Old Mill District. We were seated and offered drinks, the young man that was our waiter was very pleasant. We are not drinkers so my husband opted for ice water and I asked for a club soda with lime. My drink tasted like musty wet socks, the waiter was nice and replaced it with regular water at my request. Our food, my husband order Pasta with Marinara sauce subbing tortellini for spaghetti, I ordered the Capellini Pomadora. One would expect in a restaurant of this nature that a salad would be part of the meal, no, you have to purchase it separately. They did bring bread to the table though. Our meal was not too appetizing. It was not hot, like it sat for some time before we were severed. My husband said the marinara had a strange texture, not like any marinara he has ever had and trust me this man is king of Italian food. Mine was okay, what made it really bad was that there was so much garlic in it that is all you could taste and I like garlic. It was awful. My husband said his was also so full of garlic that it was all he could taste as well. I now go back to my first paragraph about the expectation of an Italian restaurant in the Old Mill district, you would expect in a place like this with the prices that they charge that you would at least get cloth napkins, no, we had paper napkins and the silver ware was barely clean. The building itself is nice and the staff is very nice, but the food is well below expectations. read more

I'm crazy for pasta! So my expectations were pretty high for this place. Service was good. Waitresses were nice and we got our food quickly. Location is awesome!! Walking distance from our hotel in the middle of Old Mill District. But it stops there. We ordered calamari for our appetizer. Very underwhelming calamari. Mushy, bland and inconsistent. Pasta had too much of something in it and was swimming in some broth. However, others have no complaints about the food here so maybe we just ordered the wrong stuff. read more

Very good lunch eats, had a salad/panini combo that was quite nice. Wish I had a glass of the blueberry lemonade right now though. Wowza. Other salads around the table looked tempting too. My fingers are threatening to drop this to 3 stars because our waitress acted like we had ruined her day with our presence. Everyone else was perfectly pleasant so I won't. (Sad really that even a cute, incredibly well-behaved 4 year old saying 'tank you' for her meal couldn't draw more than a resigned eye roll.) Perk up buttercup! I know, she just needed a glass of blueberry lemonaid! read more

This newish Italian place (chain, but I believe only in Oregon?) is right on the river in the upscale Old Mill District right in Bend. The seafood linguine and the multi cheese lasagna were both good, in fact, the red sauce on the lasagna was the best I've had. Caesar salads were fine as well. Portions are generous. Service excellent. *My favorite(???) question: Do they have gender neutral restrooms. I regret I wrote all of this review and at the bottom, saw this question. read more

First time eating here. I'm a disabled female vet in a wheelchair. At first I thought it was going to be overwhelming for the younger staff, one of the hostesses sort of grimaced and looked around then said "it might be a few moments ". My husband and I got a chuckle out of it. It didn't bother either of us. It was innocent, it didn't take them long at all to clear off a table. We were pleasantly surprised. They were lovely. We had a great dinner! I have to eat carefully- I know having to ask questions when the place is popular, is hard for a busy staff, but our waiter "Pastini" handled it well (he did bring me regular pasta - rather than gluten free - he wanted to know if I was "allergic" to "gluten" or just preferred not to eat it? I told him I have Chrons disease and don't eat gluten, plus the Progressive MS is linked to gut issues. So we just try to stay gluten free. Asked if they were out? He said "no, he just didn't push the NO GLUTEN button" So I said, I would prefer No Gluten. IT WAS SO WORTH THE WAIT! The Seafood Penne type pasta, little tubes, muscles ?, baby scallops, shrimps, and whatever else was in it, with white wine and butter- OMGgosh!!! To die for! The Gluten Free Tiramisu was AMAZING! We had two spoons, and shared it Other choices, looked A Maz zing.... We will definitely go back. Nice area to be outside when it's a tad cooler. Very nice staff read more

Updated: owner did reach out to us which was very nice. Wow. Where to begin? We had such horrible service AND food. We visited this weekend from out of town and were pretty appalled. First of all? The waitress led us and our two small children out on the patio where she assured us we had a table. We did not. We were standing there with no table. She led us back where we had a 20 minute wait. Our server was asked three times to bring a straw. They forgot my husbands beer until we were nearly done eating. We tried to flag down our waiter a shocking FOUR times before he even acknowledged us. Our food arrived and was missing garlic bread. We were told it "fell on the floor" and they took another 15 min to bring some over. Our food was watery and cold. When we politely asked for our check and paid in cash, the waiter undergave our change by $5 and I had to again flag him down. We have never had such a horrible dining experience and were so baffled. We heard great things and were treated really awful. Shocked we paid $62 for such a disaster. read more

We traveled to Bend to support our daughter who was running the marathon. I used Yelp to find the before race pasta meal. Absolutely loved this place. Yummy specialty cocktails and an extensive menu. To my amazement they offered several types of gluten free pasta. My salad, pasta meal and gluten free tiramisu was some of, if not the best gluten free dining out options I have ever had. Each had an adorable "gluten free" flag on it. Service was decent and prices reasonable for the area. The view of the river from our slighjtly elevated booth was gorgeous. I suggest arrving early! We arrived at 5, and by the time we left a little after 6 the wait was huge. read more

Louis was the most outstanding server we have ever dealt with!! He was awesome, checked on us frequently, offered great items, and was apologetic when needed. KEEP HIM." This was our third trip to Pastinis. It was a Friday night at peak times and they made every effort to seat us when no other place would. Even when it got cold outside, they took the time to clear and clean a table for is inside. Louis, our server, was actually new, only having been there a month. His service(see above) was beyond ANY expectations. His treatment and service towards us was reminiscent of a five star restaurant! I've never been more impressed with a person in my life! We tried it again after the owner sent me a $25 gift card in the mail, Took the server awhile to get our check, the food was okay, we could of made it better at home.
