My wife and I pulled into town around 9:15pm from a 6 hour road trip and we hadn't eaten since breakfast. We were looking for a good Mexican place to grab a quick burrito before crashing for the night. Everything was closed. We passed by Papi's but the sign said closed but the lights were still on. My wife went in and saw a woman and two men cleaning up the kitchen to close for the evening. She asked my wife what we would like and if they could make it they could. So incredibly nice. More importantly, it was the best veggie burrito I've ever had and I've had plenty. I would love to come back and try some of their other menu items. Thank you Papi's! read more

I've heard good things about Papi's and recently after work, we were hungry for some burritos, so we popped in for dinner. We were excited to check their menu and dishes out! There was a table of four wrapping up their meals and two individuals who got take out, it was fairly quiet, however, it took quite a while to have someone at the counter take or order. Got a smile from one staff member in the kitchen but no rush to say hello or get our order. It's fine, because maybe they had other orders to fill for take out. A "we'll be with you in a minute" would have been appreciated. The menu looked really good and we ordered one beef and one pork burrito. We then sat down while our food was being cooked. While waiting, we noticed tables weren't cleaned off and the bus boy cart was full next and left next to the tables. One staff member came to check where we sat, looked at the tables and cart and left them as is. We had to clean off our own table by brushing off crumbs from previous diners. Some more care for the restaurant by the staff would go a long way and would be nice to see, as a patron. The burritos arrived and tasted good. We enjoyed every bit of them, until I bit into something hard. I found a shrimp tail in my burrito - yikes! Luckily, I'm not allergic or that could have been a bad scenario. There is no shrimp in the description of the beef burrito on the menu, so I figured it was an accident. On the way out, I kindly told the owner about it but he didn't seem too concerned or apologetic. Not so keen on the cleanliness or care for the restaurant, which is a shame, but the food is good. Got real bored of the food in PR so we were ecstatic when we came across this tasty Mexican spot. I got 2 carne Asada tacos and I think they were solid. My wife and I went here late one night. We each had a shredded beef taco. It looked good. It had lettuce, tomato n cheese on it. She said it was good. I had the Chicken Asada or something like that. I ordered to go most of the time. Food is always hot & delicious. Hostess is always very friendly. Restaurant is very clean.

I will only order here when a specific cook is cooking. I've actually looked in the window to see who was cooking and walked away. It needs consistency. The carnitas and late is my go to. Sometimes it's missing the guacamole and salad beans are dry and overcooked and rice is crunchy. When I phone in the order and ask for the green salsa onions and cilantro I've trained myself to look in the bags because every time they don't include it so I have to ask for it. They gave me cheese enchiladas instead of chicken and when returning my new dish the cook was tilting the plate and i could see sauce and cheese starting to drip off and sure enough landed on my dress, were the gentlemen just said sorry and walked away. Red sauce stains but Im such a pushover so I didnt say anything. Should of ordered to go instead. Overpriced. The online menu has not been updated for years. $6.00 fir a bean and cheese burrito. You refuse to put onions or cilantro in it. Instead you give me a small container on the side. Your salsa doesn't have any flavor and isn't spicy. But if I want more than two for $6 burrito then I have to pay more for it? Most importantly, you never changed your gloves between running the cash register and making my burrito. Y'all rude, filthy, and take forever. With a long parade of middle aged wine drinkers outside all walking by with empty wine glasses, apparently headed to the next pour, we tucked into this family run Mexican restaurant. What a find! We shared the gringo nachos--ok, I call them that. I think they call them asada fries. Delicious! Carnes asada, tender and perfectly cooked, atop fries and smothered in cheese. The salsas at this place rock! None are very spicy, but the avocado salsa is quite flavorful and perfect with the asada fries. Papi's is a cute little hole in the wall type restaurant that serves great Mexican food. Not only is the food delicious, it's also inexpensive (and portions are quite generous). First off he put the wrong sauce on my food, which I'm allergic to. So I called and got a new plate for free which I'm happy about. But it's like he just half assed it. BARELY any sauce, burnt beans, no tomatoes or lettuce at all. Just rude. Maybe get it right the first time dude and you wouldn't be wasting everyone's time. Had an allergic reaction. As mentioned you grab a menu, wait in line (which tonight is running about 10mins long) sit at a table and retrieve your order from the window when called. They do indeed have a decent looking salsa bar, but that's about it for positives in decor. Tummy grumbly.. Watching salsa bar like a half starved vulture. Got the chips and headed to the salsa bar.. It would be most helpful to us tender-mouths to know which is what and how hot it might be. We got lucky.. The salsa was very tasty. I liked the green one a lot. They called us to pick up our food before we finished the chips, so no complaint on length of wait. The food: Warning- the plates are super hot! He got the chicken enchiladas- they came out piping hot. He said the sauce was fairly taste-less and really kinda bland. It wasn't bad, after he added some salsa to it. I got the chicken chimichanga- it arrived at the table looking gorgeous, puffy and blonde! I cut into it to find it was mostly air! The chicken tasted boiled and not very flavorful. As a huge fan of chimichangas, I was pretty saddened by the state of this one. The best I can describe it is it tasted fried like fried food. As for the carne asada fries, much like other places you can take or leave them a.k.a nothing special. The interior is nice, but the tables could use sons help. Good salsa bar though. Came here for dinner while spending the night in El Paso Robles. Saw the reviews and figured 90 Yelpers couldn't be wrong and you weren't. Very good Mexican food! Being from Los Angeles County originally, I think I got a good grip on good Mexican food and Papi's is good. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted both in Spanish and English. The young Man handed me a couple of menus and told me when I was ready to order he would help me. Food took a few minutes to come out, but that's because it's made to order. In the mean time, we enjoyed the salsa bar. Warning, red is hot, orange is not far behind.....Fuego! Price for the food was pretty good, not over priced. After finishing our dinner, I walked up to the cook and told him thank you. He remembered my name and thanked me for coming. Did the same to the other customers, but not all by name. His nice and polite manners probably keeps a lot of customers coming back. Oh, and of course the food. When in El Paso Robles, try this little establishment out, I think you'll enjoy it. I love their CARNITAS! Omg soooo bomb, their so juicy & shredded, my favorite cause they're not hard to chew! their burritos are always FRESH & HOT. I've been to a few Mexican places here in town and this is by far my favorite place for carnitas & burritos. Their green salsa is sooo good, lightly spicy. Their RED salsa is super hot if you like that EXTRA kick... but be careful because it IS super HOT lol don't say I didn't warn ya my mom got their fajitas today, their okay but for her first time she wasn't impressed.. they're big pieces of asada steaks & a really lot of veggies, but the plate did look hooked up.
