A friend of mine told me about this place. It's a simple, modest kitchen with no restroom or ample amount of seating. It's tucked away in a small shopping area so it's easy to miss! The food is TOP TIER!!! I have never scarfed down food so fast and without a beverage lmao honestly I almost didn't want to write this review because I selfishly didn't want to share, as there was no long line and the food was hot and fresh! But this place deserves the recognition for sure! The service, kitchen-to-table dining, and the flavor was amazing! I do want to add that the consome was so rich and flavorful I could drink it just like that! (Some places have watered down consome but not here)

Food is sooo good! I'm a vegetarian, and they always accommodate me. My husband and I love eating here, and we also enjoy ordering their tamales!

Homemade tortillas, freshly juicy meat, amazing verde salsa. Super clean and friendly. Highly recommend. My favorite was the pork rib taco.

Small kitchen, lots of attention to your food. About 4 four tops available.

Found Guisados to go through Yelp and decided to give it a try on this busy wine festival weekend since we knew we wanted to avoid the crowds and get back to our AirBnB. They had a big order ahead of our pre-order but our two burritos were still done quickly and accurately. We would for sure come back next time we are in town if we want to snag some food to go. They have a few four-top tables to sit at and some soft drinks to go available for purchase as well.

Not the best pic but look at that moisture YUMMM

There are an unbelievable amount of places in SLO county that, no offense to them, have ZERO business selling tamales. The dough is dry and the flavors are not complex, I've lost count of the times I've been disappointed. I was thinking of tamales all day when i drove past a sign announcing Guisados To Go had tamales available and I decided to give them a try. The tamales were so good I wanted to cry! Moist and delicious how they should be and the employees were very kind, they even wrapped my hot tamales in foil to keep the heat in. Very excited to try other of their plates :)

They have a nice menu with lots to choose from. They also have a chip and salsa bar that is complimentary with outstanding salsas that are all handmade in the restaurant. The green one (forgot the name) was my favorite. It was made with tomatillos, avocados, onions and cilantro. Yum. I met Edgar, the owner, who was a super nice guy. He has three of these restaurants and is a very busy guy. His daughter works there and was super sweet. We had taco salads, one with carnitas and the other with al pastor. Both were amazing. This is a solid restaurant. You won't be disappointed. Check it out!

They also fry the tortillas a little bit which is always a touch I appreciate. The birria ramen was amazing. Hot (not spicy) filling, and super flavorful. The birria was tender and juicy. I kept expecting to get to only broth, but kept getting pleasantly surprised to find more ramen. The cooking area looked very clean. The seating area was clean too but I noticed a few stains on the table I sat at. Minor nitpick. I was getting takeout anyway so it wasn't a problem. I will definitely become a regular. They also gave us a tray of three sauces and napkins. We ordered a carne asada quesadilla. Great portion and not light on the meat. Not knowing where to eat on Good Friday, we decided to try a small hole-in-the-wall spot after…read morereading several positive reviews. There are a few things worth noting. First, the restaurant is quite small with a very quiet atmosphere--surprisingly so, especially with a jukebox that wasn't in use. The space didn't feel particularly clean, and the chairs were outdated and could definitely use some refurbishing. When we received the menus, I was honestly shocked by the prices. This is something I wish more reviewers had mentioned. We ordered a shrimp tostada (about $13) and shrimp fajitas (around $24). The shrimp tostada was disappointing--the shrimp was chopped so finely that it was hard to tell it was even there. It was overwhelmed by cucumber, tomato, and cilantro. The fajitas were similarly underwhelming: the shrimp were cut in half and curled up, with maybe around ten pieces total, but there was an excessive amount of large-cut onions and bell peppers, which made the dish less enjoyable. On the positive side, the staff was friendly, and the horchata we ordered was excellent. I did mention that the bell peppers were overabundant and cut too thick, but my feedback didn't seem to go anywhere. One concern I had was seeing staff handle multiple tasks--taking payments, cleaning tables, and serving food--without ever noticing handwashing, which was a bit off-putting. I'm not completely writing this place off, as I'd like to return and try their breakfast. Most reviews are positive, so perhaps this was just an off night. Still, given today's prices, I expect the quality to match. Beans were bland and rice was cold, I'm sure made way ahead of time. I'll update my thoughts after a second visit--judge for yourself in the meantime.

Tucked into the corner of a Starbucks location, this cute little spot is small but super inviting--and definitely lives up to the hype. As soon as we walked in, the place was clean and filled with the delicious smell of spices and fresh food. I ordered the chilaquiles (not listed on the menu, but they'll make it for you with your choice of meat or traditional eggs for the same price). I went with chili verde, and wow--I was not disappointed. It was loaded with meat, sauce, cheese, cilantro, onion, and sour cream. Absolutely worth the $13, and I'd 100% order it again--next time with al pastor! We also tried the chicken enchilada plate ($13), which was just as good. Great flavor, the perfect amount of sauce and cheese, and it came with rice and beans on the side. For drinks, they've got a wide selection, including alcoholic options. I grabbed a Jarritos--just a heads up, they're $3.50 each, a bit pricey, but ice cold and refreshing. Overall, this place was a hit for us. The waitress, Erma, was friendly, polite, and attentive--which, let's be honest, isn't always easy to find. The restaurant is clean, has plenty of seating, and judging by the steady flow of customers, it's definitely no secret anymore! Give it a try and see for yourself--I'm pretty sure you'll love it too.
