My friend said that this place (as I sped past) had really good Mexican food. It just so happened that I had a "Prom" ride tonight and that group was eating at the burger place across the road, it was packed! I drove over here to Susy's a place to park and...Oh lets get a burrito to check it out. Her commercial kitchen is as "home style" as allowed. Susys was finishing an order for a dine in family. She asked me what I wanted and here I sit, anticipating. Done in a few minutes, sauce spicy or mild? spicy. Chicken burrito with everything, it was certainly piping hot, a few tortilla chips and I was stylin' The tortilla chips were cooked here, the two dipping sauces, wadda ya think...very flavorful! I sat out back in the "garden" a perfect pre-summer setting. The burrito was wrapped in foil, no waxed paper barrier to deal with. A good burrito, I had expected more protein and generally more filling. I get it everything is expensive these days and folks are cutting what and where they can to keep a buck. I'd certainly return if need be but Mexican food and places to get it are abundant in the CC. First, the service is excellent. Extremely friendly. They make you feel like family. The food is even better. I had carnitas sopes and a chicken tamale. Both were delicious. Top 5 Mexican food meal I've ever had and I'm from SoCal so I have eaten tons of good Mexican food. The place is really small with not much seating but they also have some patio seating. Doesn't matter the food is amazing. If you are in the SLO/Paso Robles/Pismo Beach area make a point of eating here. read more

I came to get the Albondigas Soup because the photo of it looked so good on Yelp, but they didn't have it and I'm so glad because I got the soup they did have, Chicken Pozole with all the fixings: onions, avocado, and cilantro, and lime. We know mexican food...good and bad. AND, Susy's is the BEST in Atascadero. We read Yelp reviews and go where the ratings take us...and sometimes those reviews have failed. But, Susy's won't! Did d you know that in 2025, Susy's was voted BEST MEXICAN FOOD in Atascadero and she deserves that honor! We had the best chips and salsa (she offered more, but we would have eaten all of them and ruined our appetite) while we waited for our dinner which consisted of fish tacos, carnitas tacos, and a beef burrito. There were 2 of us, and we STILL had food to take home. Super fresh, super friendly, and very chill place. Located off the 101, on San Anselmo, past In&Out, is Susy's Kitchen. In this little restaurant is a woman who is bring the seasoning and the heat, ALL THE FLAVOR! You can park on the street or in the back. There are only two tables inside, but many outside in the back parking lot. I asked her for something and she then customized a burrito for me, great service. Now, the pollo burrito, I do wish it was larger, but her seasoning is there. You can tell she knows how to layer the flavor. The homemade guacamole salsa, was the deepest flavors I've had of sauce/salsa/guacamole at a Mexican restaurant. Rice was fluffy. Why is there not a line out the door for this place?? This little, tiny, literal hole in the wall next to a car wash, across from the gas station and an In-N-Out Burger, has the best Mexican food I've tasted in the 25+ years. I've lived here. The weather has turned chilly and I'm getting over a stomach flu and the Albondigas soup at Susy's hits the spot. Full of veggies and flavorful, tender meatballs the broth tastes like it's been simmering for hours. Add a little Crema, some of Susy's guacamole and top it off with a couple drops of Cholula hot sauce, and I'm ready to go. For my hubby, it's his favorite Carnitas burrito. Susie promised that soon she'll be rolling tamales and making Mexican hot chocolate. I seriously recommend giving this place a try. Suzy's always got an ear to listen and his full of great stories if you have the time. read more

This little hidden restaurant served me an amazing chicken burrito; perhaps the best I've had in years! The strips and chunks of white meat chicken were tender, flavorful, and plentiful. The salsa and guacamole were homemade fresh. I met Susy and could tell she takes great pride in the quality of the food she serves. The menu is small, but I think that focus lets them makes each item on it great. Outdoor seating is available, and prices are very reasonable. Read all the great reviews so made an effort to see for myself. I ordered the chili verde burrito wet, taco, rice and beans. The chili verde was so full of fat chunks that it was not appetizing at all along with they didn't make it "wet". The taco was very small but was good.
