I used to just love Panera & would've given this company 5 stars (did years ago) but lately and in the most recent year or two the prices have steadily increased, the amount of product one receives has gone down and much of the quality has dwindled from wonderful to fair. On the plus side they have new ordering technology such as online or from the tablets located inside the store. Also no more waiting to pick-up your food they now bring it to your table & in select locations there is actual delivery from Panera to your home or office. However, I do continue enjoy the atmosphere, free WiFi, bread, tea & coffee stations & salads. In addition, I do understand the increase in price with all the added advancements but that doesn't mean BOTH quality & quantity should lack. The salads although, some still tasty, have gotten smaller! They have even gone so far as to omit the peppers in the Greek salad, lessened the amount of croutons in the Caesar salad & overall the addition of chicken added to any salad is much-much less than well let's say 6 months to a year ago! Today I tried the green goddess chicken Cobb salad which was pretty good... BUT... not much lettuce & it was $10 including tax! And I didn't get a coffee or tea or any extras this go round & bam $10! read more

The bread and fillings are fine but Panera dresses it up to hide the worst tasting and cheapest pressed turkey they can find in hopes the customer lacks taste buds. Panera is a chain, but definitely one of the higher end chains. Their cream cheese is incredible, and they have a ton of variety. Customer service is excellent as well, comparable to chic filet. They have regular filter coffee, espresso, smoothies, teas and soda. Kid friendly options, soups, salads, panini's and sandwiches! I usually always order from this Panera and almost never had any problems. The staff is always nice and helpful and my orders are ready quick. This time was nothing like that. I showed up to pick up my online order and it wasn't exactly ready and there was nobody at the register. I assume it was just low staff. Not a big deal since I work at a restaurant and understand that problem. The only big issue was there was a hair in my food that I had found after I got home with my food. And since my order wasn't at the rapid pick up section because they were low staff I had to go to the back and get it. And when I went back there I don't believe I remember seeing anyone wearing a hair net. So that would explain the issue. I'll probably come back but it'll be a while when I do because that disgusted me so much. read more

The employees are very nice!!! My friend got feta on her Mediterranean veggie, she asked for no cheese!! They put cheese on her sandwich which she's allergic too so we had to go all the back to get a new one. They messed up my drink as well and had to redo it. By far the best Panera location in Hampton Roads. I have never had a bad experience here ever. Tonight was exceptional and proves to me exactly why this location is A1. I was greeted right away by who I believe is a manager (did not get his name although I definitely should have) asking how I was and engaged in friendly conversation asking about my work. After a long day of classes with extensive training, it's nice to converse with other outside of work. After ordering, I went to pay and removed my card a little bit too early. After that the machine declined my card twice. The manager then continued to pay for my meal & let me know it's "on Panera" tonight! The other workers were also very pleasant as well. My food was fresh and came fast! I am a very satisfied customer! read more

The squash soup doesn't get the recognition it deserves. The natural sweetness of the squash is enhanced by the honey. The subtle hints of cinnamon and curry are just enough to give it a signature flavor. I love Panera. I take my daughter in for lunch nearly every Saturday. The food is consistently good as is the service. Best black bean soup I have found anywhere except my kitchen and the Caribbean. And after I ordered (to go) I waited all of 5 minutes until my food was ready. It was delicious! Parking isn't ideal here but I haven't had a problem yet. Consistently bad service and product at this location. I've gotten a latte with a bad pour so over half was empty. They reluctantly fixed a new one. A hot chocolate where the chocolate sauce wasn't mixed into the milk. A spinach salad with 10 pieces of spinach (my coworkers and I counted). I got the smallest half sandwich ever. Today I got a sandwich that I subbed regular mayo with extra basil mayo. There are zero condiments. Just consistently bad for two years now. I usually only order soup now because it's so bad. We were at the Lynnhaven Mall location. We noticed a woman who was sitting at a nearby table crying and extremely distraught. Another customer had noticed and expressed her concern for the woman and asked a staff member to check on her. The store manager had an employee kick the woman out, stating that she was disturbing customers (which she was not). The only reason we even noticed the woman is because our table was close to hers.The manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. If this is the way Panera treats their customers, we definitely will not return. I guess Panera is more worried about making $$ than showing empathy to a customer. read more

Since its opening (May 1999) Panera Bread has been the BEST thing to come out of St. Louis! Yup - even counting the RAMS!! ha! Anyway, you can't go wrong with the food and service here, add in free WiFi and quiet atmosphere (some places even have a fireplace) you get a very relaxing meal that you can Yelp or Google to your hearts content! Recently they came out with the Panera Card.. A MUST HAVE for any regular to Panera.. As American's we've come to enjoy our Comfort Food.. well Panera provides just that in a healthy way.. the sandwiches are always fresh and while the soups are re-heated from bags, it's still the best around! What's not to love about panera?! I usually do the rapid pick-up which is so fast & easy for any meal time order. My go-to is the steak, egg & cheese on an everything bagel. I like Panera in general, I have even ordered from this location before. I placed an order for a rapid pick up. I ordered the Tuesday bakers dozen to take home plus an additional couple of bagels to have for my lunch. When I got there my order was nowhere to be found. The place was busy so I figured I would allow a couple of extra minutes. 10 minutes later I asked the manager about my order. To which at first they said someone else must have picked it up instead and they would reproduce. Ok. Then when I told her what my order was. She said they had it but was holding it in the back. No one had made any effort to let me know when I got there that my order wasn't up front. This is not the first time this has happened when I have placed an order at one of their locations. Then tells me they ran out of some if the items I prepaid for because of the busy morning. I can understand that if I was just placing an order at that time but not several hours earlier. To which if you know you are having high demand but are receiving online orders as well one would put the order together ahead of time and set aside. Especially since nothing was for cold items just bagels. I also never received a call to adjust the order before I arrived. Have a half hour lunch to which I arrived late back to work from waiting for the order to tracking it down. Then to top it all off when I arrived back I found I had been shortened the 2 extra bagels I ordered for myself for lunch. But was charged for. Didn't have time to go back and get this fixed. Maybe if it is so difficult to keep track of orders and have stock you should have the option to order the dozen bagels special a day ahead so they know what to prepare for. read more

Very good place to dine at. Just make sure if you order take out to check the order PRIOR to leaving the place. Take nothing for granted. Example: just came from there with wife and decided to get take out for daughter. Ordered the Bistro French Onion soup in a bread bowl, and another order of the soup in a cup for myself. Got home, and what did I find? Two cups of soup but no bread bowl! A bit annoyed at myself and disappointed with Panera. Happy dining to all. read more

I'm giving a 2 star for the food. If I was rating the people, their courtesy, friendliness, politeness and attentiveness it'd be a 5. I ordered soup that came with plain kettle chips. My son ordered a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich. The food was decent. I guess I'm mostly upset for paying $14 for a sandwich and soup with chips. First the soup; broccoli cheddar. It was nice and hot. A bowl $5.19. Seriously, no better than a $1.49 can of Campbell's soup. The grilled cheese & bacon sandwich; I have to say, go to Sonic and get theirs, it's $2.60 and 5 times better tasting, and filled with bacon. There was like one little sliver of bacon and for $7.09, I was expecting a beast of a cheese sandwich. Not even close. I don't mean to imply the food was bad, it wasn't bad, but for the price it was mediocre at best. And how do they get away with serving 10 cents worth of chips in a air filled bag. Seriously, maybe 10 extra small chips, literally about the size of a quarter were in each bag. At least they're consistent. The more I type, the more I want to change my rating to a 1. In a word; not much value for the money. The music was upbeat. I know they have good food and sandwiches here, for I've had some before but this isn't a value of a sandwich to order. :/ maybe they should just stick to their overpriced bread and pastries. this review is for the "delivery online" option and NOT the actual restaurant, which is great... i live about 2 miles away from this location and decided to place an order for delivery via the website. when i put in my address, it told me that it didn't deliver to my area. i thought this was weird so i called the location to see if i could make the order over the phone since the website didn't recognize my address. after a bit of a run-around, i spoke to this one woman who tried to assist me. i explained the error that was coming up on the website and told her where i was located. she even put my address into her GPS. she also couldn't understand why the website wasn't recognizing a nearby customer. i asked if i could just make the order through her since i already had her on and i wasn't having any luck with the website. she told me she couldn't and that i would have to speak to tech support to report the online error. (excuse me) she said that it had to do with "calculation of the mileage" for the delivery and that the website calculates that. but, she could put in an order for pick-up. seriously? if i wanted "pick-up", guess what? i'd be in the restaurant and NOT online or talking to you on the phone about the problem. i understand that the concept for delivery is a new one for Panera and that there are a few bugs to work out but, i don't think telling the customer that they have to call tech support themselves to complain about an online website issue that's on your end and then NOT taking the order because of a "mileage calculation" that can be done either on their end at the restaurant or by the driver and giving them the opposite option of why they called you in the first place is acceptable. i'm the customer, you're the business, figure it out! read more

My favorite is the Frontega Chicken panini. I love Panera but it looks like I've got a gluten allergy or full blown Celiac and am going through the process of finding out. So, it's quite likely that Panera Bread may not be an option for me in the future but I highly recommend for all the food and treats! read more

So ordered online because: my car is in the shop ( no transportation) and I just had oral surgery so soup is my best option. Also ordered a pick 2 for my spouse. Food was delivered and I got French Onion instead of Wild Rice and Chicken ( because they both sound and look alike right?) I called and got a "manager" who informed me that I could only get a refund if I brought the receipt in. HUH? I ordered online so they took my card online and then I SIGNED a receipt in my driveway which the delivery driver, I assume, took back, but you can't send a refund via your credit card processing machine??? WOW. When Amazon owes me a refund they don't demand I go to their warehouse with my packing slip. Oh, yeah she didn't offer to send another one out as they are all of 2 minutes by car from our house , actually 1.2 miles to be exact. First and last order from them --and never go into eat there. read more
