Food was good, but I did think it was overpriced for what they had to offer. Portions were kind of small. I do think you're paying for the ambiance more so than the food. The decorations were really pretty. Service was really good too.

We met up for lunch at Wang Jiang Lou. We were greeted when we walked in and taken to our table. The setting is dimly lit, the tables are very spacious, and I like the vibe and Asian inspired decor!! I like that it's spaced out and you're not over crowded. Our waitress Catherine was awesome. She's always nice, friendly, and patient. She gave us the menu specials and allowed us to chat a bit before ordering. My friend ordered the cheese wontons, general tso chicken and dan dan noodles. The wontons were really good. I like that they were sweet and crispy. I'd get them again for sure. The dan dan noodles were spicy and flavorful. My sister and I got the Mongolian chicken, storm fish, and eggplant. This is my go to meal that I normally get, it's always tasty. The storm fish normally comes with a spicy mayo sauce, but they didn't have it this time. The fish was still ok, but the sauce is what gives it flavor, so it was a little bland this time. The eggplant and Mongolian chicken were yum, hot, and fresh!! I definitely recommend this restaurant to alot of people. I just think it's more elevated compared to regular Chinese takeout food. They have many delicious options on the menu, and again the vibe is chill. If you're planning a group dinner this is definitely a great option. The rooms have a lazy Susan on the table to make sharing the family style meals easy. Check them out!!

I stopped by Wang Jiang Lou on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and since I had some time to waste until my friends arrived, I chatted with the host and inquired about their party/event rooms. He insisted I take a look at the rooms and I must say, they were larger than I expected and were decorated very nicely. Once my friends arrived, we were seated right away. I knew I wanted the Dan Dan Noodles, which are my favorite, but I also decided on the General Tso's Chicken and the Crab Wontons. My friends ordered the Mongolian Chicken and the Yu Xiang Eggplant. Our food was served about 15-20 minutes after we ordered, which was very impressive and our server made sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely amazing, per usual. I love how each dish has such rich and vibrant flavors and the portions are large enough to share. We had a wonderful time dining together! The staff were great, the restaurant was clean and the food was delicious! We'll definitely be returning!!!

To celebrate Valentine's Day, Sophia and I had dinner at this spot in the Hilltop Square area of Virginia Beach. They opened up in 2024 and reviews have been fairly positive. After setting up a 5pm reservation, it was time to see if this spot lived up to the hype. The both of us walked in where it wasn't totally packed. The entire restaurant is gorgeous. Totally spotless and full of space. They even have private rooms which can hold up to 12 people per table with some even accomodating large parties. It's hard to believe they've been open for less than 2 years and still look brand new. When we were done looking at the menu, we were ready to order. Apps were Sichuan wontons. Pretty goood stuff. Tossed with chili oil wasn't too spicy and had a sweet aftertaste. For my entree selection, I chose Wild Pepper Beef. It was spicy and very good. When you have a dish that arrives sizzling, you know you're in for a treat. The beef was very tender and there were enough veggies on hand waiting to be devoured. Sophia had the Sweet Pea Prawns dish which she thought was good. Overall, an expensive experience but one that you wouldn't mind having once in a while. We wouldn't mind coming back to try other dishes. Till next time :)

We came here on a whim when our normal spot was closed. As we walked in a large group of Chinese people were coming in. I sometimes judge my places based on this, if the locals like it, it must be good. Imagine my surprise walking into this interior, it is a beautiful well built place. The outside does not give any details that the interior would be this beautiful. I was taken back as this looks like a high end Chinese place with plenty of room for large groups of people. Ambiance, this place hits it out of the park. Now onto service, was quick to greet us but toward the end of the meal it started to fall off as all of our drinks went empty. There is no kids menu here but they did have very cute flashing lights in the kids cups. Which she gave us extra to take home. The food came out very fast, almost too fast as we were still eating apps and soup. On to the food, so when I judge any Asian food, I judge it the next day as well for leftovers. My wife being part Asian has high expectations and I do as well because she is an amazing cook. This food was good, the Kung Pao chicken was the rock star. The orange chicken was good and I get homemade orange chicken all the time. All of this food tastes home made, it has great flavor and it lasted the next day well. Now for the duck, we buy duck all the time, this was a bit dry from the tea smoking. I would not order it again. The lunch portions is where most people including myself will be happy. Good portions and great food. Price, this place is expensive. I normally do not look sideways at price because I believe in getting what you pay for. Here you are paying for ambiance and quality food, but there is a large cost. I recommend staying with lunch portions unless you have a large party. Overall, I am conflicted on this one, the food is very good but the cost is almost too high for me at a dinner price. Would I give it another shot, yes, at lunch.

I love authentic Szechuan, Hunan, and Chinese and seek it out when I travel, so recently while in VA Beach for work, I came here for dinner with a colleague. We were impressed with the huge size inside and the great décor of this place - it truly was very nice! Service was friendly and helpful too... Mary the manager on duty was helpful and very friendly - Which was great! We ordered several items from the menu so that we could try lots in a shareable style of meal. We got a bottle of a nice sake to enjoy during dinner. Then we started with their spicy cucumber and it was decent. Next up was their Sichuan wontons, which were very nicely done. The chili oil in them was flavorful with a decent spice to it. We enjoyed several items for dinner, with some of our favs being their dry stir-fry string beans, smoked chicken fried rice, and Sichuan basil chicken. We definitely enjoyed this visit and will be back!

I absolutely love this restaraunt! Their food is absolutely delicious! I've had the sesame shrimp, Mongolian beef, and Szechuan fish. Everything had been hot and tasty. The vibe of the restaurant is sophisticated and it is very welcoming. Wait staff is attentive responds to quickly. One of my favorite restaurants!

We had dinner tonight at Wang Jiang Lou, located in the Hilltop area of Virginia Beach. This is an upscale Chinese restaurant and the food here is very good. On our first visit, we were with a large group of friends celebrating a birthday, but we didn't order anything. Someone from our group handled the ordering and food just appeared. Everything was delicious but when we arrived tonight we realized that we didn't know what to order. Mary the bartender was very helpful with menu questions and suggestions. We started out with a bowl of Hot and Sour Soup and also the Mandarin Spare Ribs. Both were excellent. We decided to split the General Tao Chicken. The dish was very good but we were a little disappointed that the broccoli was served COLD. The bartender told us that that is by design and she's had conversations with the kitchen staff, to no avail. It's meant to be a garnish and not necessarily to be eaten, or so we were told. There were several large pieces on the plate, I I think that they should either heat it up or put less if it's just a garnish. Nevertheless, the General Tao chicken was piping hot and the sauce was very good. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here and we will return.

The interior was beautiful and well decorated. The host was super friendly and we had a short wait time for a big party. The food was delicious, portions were great for sharing. Favorite dishes were the sichuan storm fish and rice cake stir fry. Only downside was soup dumplings had no soup. The waiter took a while at the end to check up on us and give us the check. Definitely a little pricey but worth the splurge.

Loved our appetizers! The hot n sour soup was full of flavor and so good same with the Sichuan wanton, absolutely delicious. Our entrées were okay...granted we picked pretty "vanilla" dishes they were lacking flavor. The service at the bar where we sat was great, and friendly. The bar is nice, a couple big tvs, we watched some football. The restaurant is very big and open. Ill try a different entrée next time.

Easily my go-to Chinese fusion restaurant in Hampton Roads. Great service, a lovely atmosphere, and a consistently enjoyable experience.

Great food. Great ambience. Our waitress was slower than a sloth and provided the bare minimal service. The only service she provided was bringing us our drinks. We had to chase her down for to-go boxes and our check- given that she only had us and another table.

This was my second time dining at Wang Jiang Lou and this time I went for lunch! They offer a great affordable lunch special for only $16, you can order a plate of beef, pork, or chicken and a side of rice. I ordered the Yu Xiang Pork and as you see, the portions are large enough to share with a large group! I couldn't resist getting the special where they combined 2 of the appetizers Szechuan dumplings and Dan Dan noodles. The service and food came out fast. Great family/group gathering atmosphere too with large tables and booths.

The mapo tofu is very tasty, but I wish there was more ground beef. Spice level was decent, but I would like it spicier. The garlic eggplant is one of my favsssssss!!!! A sweet soy sauce/oyster sauce taste. The Peking duck is very good, skin is crispy. The char siu pork is also very flavorful. THE WALNUT SHRIMP, it's always a winner. This is my husband's favorite. The white sauce just pairs so well with fried shrimp. The dumplings and Rangoons are thick. The dumplings are covered in sweet soy sauce. Very tasty. The pork belly was crispy just like Filipino lechon. I really enjoyed the custard buns. I do love that they have dim sum available to order all day. We have been here many times, and the dishes are always very good. They put a lot on the plate. This is definitely a place for family style. A must try!! We will be back.

I called earlier in the day to see if we should make reservations, but was told they wouldn't be busy. Well, we got there and while they had plenty of tables at 6:30PM, but 7PM that place was completely packed! They had lots of carry-out orders happening too, which all made the kitchen a little slow. We ordered many dishes to share and all started coming out one after another over the next hour until the beef & broccoli was the last dish. Again, I attribute the slowness of the kitchen to their being so busy. At least all the food that came out was very fresh, tasty, and piping hot. Some interesting items that were quite good were their potatoes and green peppers. This dish is something I've never seen before but was pretty good! It features long julienned potatoes that they clearly soak in water before wok'ing with the peppers - that was all that was in the dish, but it was still tasty. Their Fish in Chili Oil & Bean Sprouts was really tasty and fresh! The fish is flounder. Their spicy wontons in chili oil were very popular with our group too. Service here was friendly too and helpful. Like I said, we tried many items, so many more than I just outlined and all were nice. I'd definitely return for a slightly more elevated Chinese menu from what you get at the typical Chinese-American joints.

My family and I (5 people) came in to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday dinner and there was nobody but us in the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was the server. He was dressed in jeans, hooded sweatshirt, a beanie and had a toothpick in his mouth. A bit out of the ordinary but to each their own for proper attire in what I would deem a upscale-ish restaurant. The real issue was him taking our order, seemed rushed. As we were deliberating and figuring out what we wanted. My girlfriend was talking about the scallion bubble pancakes. He came over and said, "I overheard you said the scallion pancakes, did you want to put in that order?" My girlfriend said no, she wanted everything to come out all at once. He said ok and then we walked off. Next thing we know, the pancakes came out WAY ahead of everything else we ordered. By like 15 minutes at least. When my girlfriend said something about it, the waiter said, he said outright " I never heard her say not to order them, she never said anything, and they are out right now". No apology, no I'll go ahead and fix that...nothing. When we we on the way out, we talked to the owner about the experience and the only thing he mentioned was that, the server was new and it's hard to find good employees because they revolve so quickly. Which wasn't really an answer at all. It was definitely a 180 degree turn from the first experience we had here which was 5 stars all around.
