Wok and Roll Xpress - A Hidden Gem Hiding in Plain Sight!…read more My wife and I have driven past Wok and Roll Xpress, located at 2101 Hall Johnson Rd., Grapevine, TX 76051, numerous times and wondered just how good this little place was. Well, folks, curiosity finally got the best of us, and today was the day we decided to venture inside and get our grub on! As luck would have it (no, not really ), Wok and Roll Xpress is tucked inside the Shell gas station. Before heading over, I called ahead to see if we could dine in, only to discover that this is strictly a takeout-only establishment. When we arrived, we moseyed on inside and found a small space with a counter for seating. Although the dining area is limited, everything appeared clean, neat, and well organized. First impressions? So far, so good! We were greeted by Mr. David, the cashier behind the counter, who was very welcoming and polite. After my wife looked over the posted menu, we were ready to make our selections. Here's what we ordered: E8 Honey Sesame Chicken - Tender chicken served with a sweet honey sauce and toasted sesame seeds. E10 Mongolian Beef - Deliciously seasoned beef with Mongolian chili sauce, white onions, and green onions. Both entrées came with brown fried rice. A1 Chicken Egg Roll - Because what's a Chinese takeout meal without an egg roll to complete the experience? Since everything was prepared to go, we headed home with our food. The good news? Our meals were still nice and hot when we arrived! Now, let's talk about the food! The Honey Sesame Chicken was tender, moist, well seasoned, and absolutely delicious. That sweet honey sauce paired beautifully with the toasted sesame seeds. The Mongolian Beef was another winner! The beef was well seasoned, and the chili sauce packed a bit of a spicy kick without taking away from the delicious flavor. And those chicken egg rolls? Delicious and well seasoned! The fried rice was also a tasty addition that rounded out both meals nicely. All in all, my wife and I were genuinely impressed with Wok and Roll Xpress. Sometimes the best discoveries are the places you've driven past time and time again without ever stopping to give them a try. Well, we finally did, and we're certainly glad we did! You better believe we'll be back! If you're in the Grapevine area and have a hankering for some tasty Chinese takeout, you might want to give this little spot a try. Until next time, folks, happy eating, and hope to see y'all there!

I'm big on getting what I pay for when it comes to food, and this experience missed the mark across the board. I ordered the General Tso's chicken extra spicy, two spring rolls, a beef egg roll, and fried rice. First, the General Tso's was nowhere near extra spicy. There was literally no heat to it at all. Instead, it was extremely sweet and tasted more like orange chicken than the General Tso's I was expecting. Then came the spring rolls. When I tell you these things were about the length of a Vienna sausage, I'm not exaggerating. Two tiny spring rolls for around $1.89 felt like a rip-off. The beef egg roll was another $1.89 for one and was about half the size of a regular hot dog link. On top of being small, it was bland. Even the fried rice portion was disappointing. It came in one of those traditional Chinese takeout containers, but basically the smallest size possible. What really sealed the deal was when I called after getting home. I wasn't even calling demanding a refund or trying to argue. I simply told them that, for future reference, my General Tso's wasn't extra spicy and tasted extremely sweet. The response I got was basically, "We forgot to make it extra spicy, but it's spicy." Okay... If you forgot to make it extra spicy, then just say that. There's no need to argue with a customer about what they're literally sitting there eating. Overall, this was a 1-star experience for me. Between the food, tiny portions, value for the money, and the response when I called, I wouldn't return. Save your money and your time. There are too many other Chinese food spots around DFW to feel like you got beat out of your money after dinner.

I don't normally do the reviews and stuff like this. I talk to the manager and just let them handle problems most of the time. This time it is worth the time to do a review. I shocked at the way I was greeted at this place. We walked up to the host stand and told her we would like a booth, she points to the cocktail section and asked if that is ok. We said yes, she takes the menus and just kind of tosses them at us and said "its open seating" and just walked away. We find a seat and sit and think for a second about what just happened. We were both did that just happen? I wanted to leave my boyfriend said he wanted to talk to the manager just to let him know how we were greeted. The manager comes to the table and we tell him how I was greeted. The manager apologized and asked us to stay, said "I have the best server and bartender here they will take great care of you" We order 2 beers and the appetizer both came quick and were correct. The server took our order read it back to us, figured reading it back meant he had it and it would come our correct. When we were finished up with the app our drinks were gone, the server was no were to be seen and the bar tender lady was busy cleaning. The food arrives and we tell the lady that brought out the food that we would like another round of drinks, She said I will let the server know. As we look over the order we see some things are wrong My boyfriend asked for a side of sauce and we both asked for fried rice. Steamed rice was brought out and the sauce was not brought out. So we wait and after a little bit our server walks past and I wave him down he askes if we would like another round of drinks I say yes and says Ill have them right out, noting about how is the food everything come out ok? So when we gets the drinks I told him I needed the check I was not a happy person at this point. He asked if I wanted to box us some stuff I told him I just needed a box for my dish and my boyfriends dish he said not the rice My reply if it was what we asked for yes but its not. I was thinking Id see the manager at least one more time during the meal but did not happen I paid $78.00 for one of the worst dining experiences of my life. read more

The food menu is changing at this location and it's not for the better. The atmosphere is awkward The food is now bland and very tasteless. On top of that, a server said the restaurant is apparently crumbling because the manager won't give employees any respectable hours. I heard they only get 20 scheduled hours. They obviously don't care about people's families at this location because, 20 hours a week is disrespectful. They don't want you to know they are doing this either so they keep trying to take down yelp reviews of anyone talking about this. I think the public needs to know. read more

Sean (sp?) and the rest of the crew are just really lovely. I took my dad, niece, and nephew for dinner here on Friday, August 28, and the kids had never tried Indian food before. My dad had only ever had store brand butter chicken soup from H-E-B and a chicken birria burrito. It was bound to be an adventure. My sister told me not to get my hopes up because my niece is the pickiest eater ever. I could not have been more thrilled with our experience. We had to order a bunch of naan, the kids loved it. I was super surprised they didn't order the fried rice dishes. They were actually adventurous! My nephew ordered the 2 piece tandoori chicken, and my niece ordered the chicken curry! I was so nervous they might not like what they ordered, but they loved all of it. My nephew ate almost all his chicken, and my niece ate half the curry and actually asked if she could take the rest home because whe liked it so much. My dad somehow found room to finish his entire huge bowl of butter chicken. He told Sean it was amazing, I was so pleased. My own palak paneer was to die for, seasoned perfectly. Sean was so kind to the kids, he brought them a special sweet treat of Nutella on naan, big hit. My nephew had to get the mango magic drink to go (no idea what it's actually called, but that's what I call it), and I had to get one for my boyfriend. (I got major girlfriend points for that, lol!) My dad commented when we left that one of his favorite things about Tabla was how clean it was. They definitely take pride in their restaurant, they take pride in their food, and they are so nice. I can't wait to go back, Sean made me promise to try the fried rice or Szechuan chicken next time, and that's fine by me because I love both those things.

Repost with corrections*…read more I'm not familiar with this part of Grapevine, but it was an easy drive. It sits just off the street and isn't hard to find. When I walked in, there was an ample amount of seating for those waiting to be seated. The host/hostess desk is just around the corner in the bar area. The only issue I had with that was, when you first walk in, you aren't greeted. You have to walk into the bar area to get assistance. Patrons walking in and not being greeted due to the lack of visibility, may dampen the visit for first-time visitors. You only get one first impression; make it count in the best possible way. To-go order: Chili Garlic Shrimp (Mild) Entree - I really wanted to like this, but it was definitely not enjoyed. I ended up throwing it away. I'll do my best to explain. It was described as a gravy, but I had no idea what it was. Oddly enough, you could taste (sort of) the spices, but it was really bland and had too much liquid. The shrimp weren't seasoned either, but were cooked perfectly. After you finished your bite, it had an unpleasant aftertaste. I was done after one shrimp. I didn't taste the garlic, and I assume that would have been the main ingredient other than the shrimp. Appetizer: Chili Garlic Fish - This was the biggest disappointment; like the above, it was also not edible. I didn't get the point of this dish; I felt it was a waste to have on the menu. The menu said it was fish, but it had the texture of meat. It was really dry (as seen in the photo); it lacked seasoning and was completely bland. Garlic Naan: This was okay, but I don't think they use fresh garlic. The host explained the naan would have been perfect to dip in the entree, but nope, it wasn't. Takeaway: The gentleman who assisted me was great; he was well-versed when I asked about the menu and was able to answer all that was asked. Reading some of the other reviews, I feel it would be best for them to create a menu that focuses on their strengths and to eliminate the "fusion" part of the menu. I'm surprised; the food was great at the Fort Worth location. I have no idea what changed, but I hope things improve for them. There are several Indian restaurants in the metroplex who exceed at what they serve; I don't want Tabla to get lost in the mix. Are they worth the visit? Of course, but be mindful of what you get.

They put everything in a nice little orange handbag-style bag, which I thought was a cool touch. It made the order feel a little more put together than your typical takeout. If you want more meat with less tasty fried outside, that's the one for you! No real comments on service since we've ordered Togo only so far; but pickup is easy! And when they gave us coleslaw instead of radish, it was a very simple swap. The restaurant itself is modern and spacious (see pics). Seems like a real fun place to have a large party gathering, especially on the huge patio!

Not sure what the inside was like, but it looked clean through the windows. The drive-thru menu has a TON of options. We ordered the szechuan chicken with white rice and the combination fried rice. This is definitely not your typical drive-thru chinese food. The shrimps are large and meaty. The beef is tender. The veggies taste fresh. Yum!
