My flight out is in 1.5 hours. We decide to come by my favorite Malaysian restaurant. Ivy the manager always welcome us. We highly recommend Yong tau fu, hot and sour soup, dried won ton mee and the nasi lemak are very authentic for US. Happy to find a place like this... A nice and true south east Asian restaurant that recently opened, about a year ago. Nice ambiance and modern Malay decor. Whole wall covered with projection of live nature and music. They even have a separate VIP room facing the front. Located at the inner corner of a strip mall. Went for late lunch. You can tell they are really Malaysian family/chef with uniforms etc like a fine dining restaurant. Ordered the infamous Nasi Lemak. Hit all the right notes and good spiciness with the sambal. Curry chicken was tender. I think I missed the real anchovies. Ordered the Malacca sampler with a tasty of appetizer. Chicken satay was crispy and tender. Leg/thigh meat, not breast meat. Five spice meat rolls felt a little too much seasoning. Too strong. Crispy tofu and shrimp cakes were good. Complement with the sauces. This place warrants another 5 star review. Been big fans since they opened and took a special colleague there for lunch this week. Food was perfection and deliciously unique. 3.5 stars. This Malaysian food between of Ft. Worth and Dallas. This is probably the best Malaysian food at these twin cities. People start coming in after 11:45. We got the roti to start. As Malaysian eater like me, they probably need to work on the curry. The next dish is malacca sampler. I like this dish better because it has variety of food. This sampler include shrimp cake, five spice meats roll, fried tofu, satay, and cucumber. This dish I recommended. The entry is the Nasi lemak. I think the rice dish needs to have more coconut milk. I'm glad dfw is getting more asian restaurants on the tarrant country side. living in fort worth, the only places you can go to get asian food is either in Haltom City or drive over to carrollton/plano/frisco. when i heard this place had hainan chicken rice, i was extremely stoked to give this place a try. back in southern california, there would be a few places i would frequent to get my hainan chicken rice fix. we ended up getting take out, and ordered the hainan chicken rice and CKT. CKT stands for char kuey teow, which is rice noodles with fishcake, shrimp, and bean sprouts mixed with egg and soy sauce. it was good, but i don't think it was anything special. the cost for the dish was about 17 bucks. As for the hainan chicken rice, the flavor of the chicken and rice were missing that "pizzazz". normally, hainan chicken rice is really flavorful and i don't typically need the sauce, but this one was kinda dry and the rice didn't pack a lot of flavor. maybe i came on an off day, and will give it another try. Been here several time and can confidently say they are absolutely, unequivocally, definitely deserve 5 stars for food and service. Sweet baby Jesus all of the food is delicious and authentic. The rotti was my favorite-- the curry brought me back to dining in a Kopi in KL. I ordered the Nasi Lamek which was pretty good. The sambal had a nice kick but was milder than I expected. I finished up my dinner with a delicious coconut based dessert soup with chunks of ube and taro. Everything was delicious! Very cool to see a Malaysian place open up in Southlake - I don't know of any in DFW and this is exactly what this area needed. They've been open since November and the restaurant has a great vibe, including a video screen covering the whole wall and projecting peaceful images. Note that this place is BYOB - another plus! The tea presentation is excellent - definitely get a pot of jasmine if you have 3 or 4 ppl as they will refill it w hot water. The roti canai is excellent - make sure you order an extra roti with this dish. The curry noodle soup has a bit of a kick to it and is a huge serving - probably can feed 2! The other 2 dishes we ordered are classic examples of this clean and tasty cuisine - the porridge w pork and preserved egg was thick and flavorful. And the hainanese chicken was perfectly cooked and came with really good chicken rice and some light soy and sambal. We also had one of their desserts, which was not as good as halo halo but still ok. We will definitely be back! read more

Wow! Amazing food that I wasn't even able to take a picture of before eating because of how excited I was to dig in! The chicken skewers were the best I've ever had at any restaurant. All the meat was juicy and flavorful and the curry noodles were a great subtle flavor that went well with the rest of their items. The nostalgia I felt when I saw they had Milo on the menu blew me away! The kindness from the staff and the amazing interior is a great ambiance that I look forward to seeing again. Malacca has become one of our regulars. The food is clean and fresh. Their house made sizzling tofu is excellent and a must try. I also like to get their house made drinks. You can customize sugar level which is great. Finally, the staff is always friendly and attentive. My 5 and 7 year old's favorite dishes are the Hainanese Chicken and the Malacca Sizzling Tofu. it's hard to find good Malaysian food in the texas and i was pretty impressed with this place. i went with some friends who has never tried malay food before so i went safe with hainanese chicken rice, satay ayam, and the sizzling tofu. my friends loved the satay, their peanut sauce is the smooth and sweet type which is not my personal preference but it was still pretty solid. chicken rice i thought was just okay, wish they served it with chicken broth on the side. their sizzling however was really really good. the egg tofu had the most perfect texture! it's exactly like the sizzling tofu plates you would get in chinese restaurants in malaysia or indonesia. would love to come back and try their CKT, wat dan ho, and es kacang next time! read more

I'd dare to say that this is the BESTEST Malaysian fusion restaurant in the DFW. Hands down with their big bold authentic flavors. The food is clean and well presented. Since my last review I've come here at least 6 times. Out of town relatives and guests and also our in town relatives and close friends all know about this place now and have vowed to bring other people as well. I've tried about half the menu now so I can give some feedback about the other dishes. Service has also been great whenever we go there. 1. dried wonton noodle: currently my new favorite thing there. It's just perfect meat, wontons and it doesn't feel like it weighs you down, perfect for lunch. 2. malacca tofu: must try for this place. soft tofu with loads of vegetables and egg and meat in the middle. very balanced 3. sweet and sour fish: suprisingly great. i woulnd't order this and just one more dish if its two people. its more of a share with a group of 6+ sort of dish 4. indonesian fried rice: always flavorful and good and great leftovers I can't wait to try more of the dishes. guess i have to bring more friends. read more

Super cool Malaysian restaurant with amazing food and an awesome interior decor that includes a visual projection of a waterfall, old cameras, lucky cat and dragon statues, fish patterns on a screen, and things like sauces, pineapple tarts and fortune cookies for sale. I got the chicken drumsticks, roti and steamed dumplings, as well as the Hainanese chicken rice and curry noodles. They also have an assortment of colorful desserts plus interesting drinks (like lychee soda and calamansi juice) that you can't find anywhere else. Service was also excellent. This one is a great option so maybe we don't need to have many options. Never heard of Malacca but decided on the Malacca tofu since that seems to be the name of restaurant. Fantastic dish! The tofu was crispy on the outside but delicate on the inside. We also tried haianese chicken, nasi lemak and dry egg noodles. Everything was delicious and not a single suggestion to improve the dishes. We will definitely be back to try more dishes. $17 was the starting price for most of the main dishes. Loved the ambiance, the service, the food, and the people working there. It felt a bit upscale going into the restaurant, but the food and the people make it homey. They also have a glass wall to separate the party room. I like the idea of whether you are facing the window and can look outside, or if you are facing the wall, you can look at the huge animated projection. They also have 3 tvs toward the checkout area. We had the malacca satay which came with a peanut coconut sauce that was amazing. The Nasi Lemak was our first time having this Malaysian dish, and we enjoyed it so much. I have to say food is always good. But I am very surprised today after having lunch with my friends there. We are party of 9 people and they automatically charged tips which I totally understand. But after checking the receipt on my way home, I found they charged 58 dollars for a 215 dollars lunch. This is 27%. And I called to ask if the bill is correct. They told me they charge 25% after tax. I asked if it is written anywhere they said no they just charged it without any written notice. And they change tip after tax. This is not correct. The girl answered the phone was also cold and rude and told me whatever. I do like the food but I won't be back. Be careful about the bills. read more

While waiting I checked on their pastry that they sell and decided to buy some. The server told me they made different one every week. Food is okay to me, I still prefer the food from Tasty Egg-roll in Plano. However this place is nicer to hang out. Service is awesome, they are very friendly. If you miss hawker center food, then this is the place to come for authentic Singaporean / Malaysian style food! We came on a week night during their soft opening. The interior was very nice and felt more on the high end side of restaurants. Servers were very helpful. They have projector screens on the walls and our kid was mesmerized. There is also a somewhat separate room with 2 round tables that would be good for larger gatherings. Food: Roti canai 5/5 must order!!! The roti was so flaky, buttery, and soft. Chicken curry was so flavorful. My only disappointment was that it didn't come with more. Pork and century egg porridge 5/5: by far the best bang for your buck dish we ordered. The bowl was huge and overall much more flavorful than we expected Malacca tofu 5/5 our table loved the texture of the tofu and flavor of the gravy. For me personally I thought it was good but did not amaze me Wonton mee 4/5 I've been craving this dish for a long time and theirs hit the spot! Egg noodles were soft and chewy, wontons were flavorful, and sauce was sweet and salty. The only downside was that the charsiu was a little tougher than I was hoping for. Hainanese chicken rice 4/5: it was ok. I don't know if I had hyped myself up too much because I haven't had it in a while but I feel like even though it felt overall pretty authentic, the flavor was not as rich as some other chicken rice I've had Kaya toast 4/5: I loved the kaya flavor but the butter was a little much. I'm still mind blown that this place serves kaya toast honestly - such a rare find Drinks: Hot milo 4/5 it's basically like hot chocolate but for me there was also a little bit of nostalgia Teh tarik 5/5 if you love milk tea, this is a MUST order. We came on the soft opening! We came to try something new for my dad's birthday. We had a large party and they took reservations on a Saturday night. Everyone who waited on us was kind and helpful. We loved the images that change on the walls. It also had an area that could be used as an event room. We loved the chicken satay! It was so delicious!
