100 stars. It's been almost been two months since we left Seoul and came back to Texas and two months since we had really good chinese food (yes, we ate chinese food in SK and often). We were craving some good ol spicy chinese food. The dining room is decent sized. The menu is very big with pictures. Now I am not sure the official name of things because my husband just ordered, but we got the shredded potatos, cumin lamb, fried fish and it had pickled long beans, and a spicy beef dish. All were amazing. I really liked the greens that came with the cumin lamb. The shredded potatoes I like the spicy sour and garlicky ones. I think that dish is mostly szechuan? These were good, but I just prefer the other ones better. They have this big fish head fish that I want to try. I'm definitely coming back. read more

Stumbled across Hunan chef while grabbing bubble tea next door. Super excited to have an authentic Chinese food restaurant in Carrollton. There's ample seating and a large private room in the back. The dining tables and chairs are nice and we were seated right away. Service is typical for what you'd expect for a Chinese restaurant. We ordered braised pork, fried lotus root, and veggies for the table. The food was pretty good and authentic. There are a lot of options to choose from for ordering so it can get overwhelming. Prices are a little more expensive than other comparable Chinese restaurants I've been to in Plano, however still good and wouldn't mind coming back here again. read more

Came here the other night for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised! We arrived around 5:30pm before the dinner rush so didn't have to wait to be seated. They have a lot of tables with some that were suitable for large parties with the traditional round tables and lazy Susans. We ordered the beef with black pepper sauce, the spicy garlic pork feet in clay pot, fried dumplings, and potato noodle stir fried with cabbage. All the dishes were large and everything tasted phenomenal! Prices were also considered cheap for the amount of food served! 3 dishes could easily feed a family of 4. I go to this place every other week or so It's consistent and delicious. Make sure you order the picked mustard green with beef. Best texture. If things are too spicy bring in a yogurt drink from hey yogurt next door. They aren't too strict about that. read more

First time here on a Monday night, my Chinese friend wanted to try this place to see if it's good. We got Braised Pork Belly in Wooden Bucket ($19.99), Steamed Pork Belly w/ Bun ($21.99), Hunan Stir-Fried Pork w. Chili Peppers ($16.99), and a duck soup. We ordered all entrees but none of them came with rice, rice costs $1 extra for each person, which is weird because rice always comes with these for free at other places. Our favorite dish was the Stir-Fried Pork with Chili Peppers because it was the perfect amount of saltiness and the peppers made it spicy. The Braised Pork Belly was ok but really salty, and it had a hint of sourness too. The pork belly with bun was good and the pork was really juicy, my friends loved it but it wasn't my favorite. We ordered a lot but the portions were really small so none of us was full. Also the prices here were insanely expensive for the portion sizes. This place would be worth to try if you're craving a very specific Hunan dish, but not worth if you want family-style. Service was eh. read more

So glad we have more Chinese options in Carrollton now. The wait can be a bit long especially on the weekends but the staff is really good about getting tables cleared pretty quickly. The menu is quite extensive and there's a good variety of everything. Portions aren't as large as some other Chinese restaurants in Plano but decently sized. I really liked their eggplant with green beans dish. Super flavorful! Definitely recommend checking them out if you are craving Chinese food and are in the area. read more

First time here but was in a rush so didn't study the menu too much. Got the beef w mushroom, xlb, and some sort of garlic spare ribs. I'll say the beef is one of the best dishes I've had at a Chinese restaurant. The ribs were a little unusual to me, had like a turmeric type / curry socks? Wasn't my fav. Waited almost 2 whole hours for our last dessert that we ordered at the beginning, which never showed up at all. The staff ignored us multiple times and offered neither a sincere apology nor any proper solution. To make things even worse, the manager gave no meaningful solution or sincere apology and inappropriately touched my friend's shoulder. Cause when we asked, the server said the kitchen is working on it, so wait and wait until the last minute they said they forgot. It's ridiculous. Will never go to this place again. read more

We just wanted a big snack so we shared the orange chicken and it was very good. Perfectly crisp and not overly sweet. The place is big, bright and beautiful and the service was excellent. They serve dishes other than americanized Chinese food and we will try some next visit. Give this place a try. Bet you'll go back for more! read more

Despite the spice level, I greatly enjoyed the meal. We ordered: duck tongue with chili oil, stinky tofu, pork liver with chili and chives, house special lotus root, and sautéed frog. Everyone loves the lotus root and duck tongue. The first one was really crunchy and the spice didn't erase the natural flavor. Duck tongue is similar to eating chicken feet, except smaller. I personally like the sticky tofu whereas everyone doesn't. But I dislike the sautéed frog while they do, mostly because of the high spice level. Had to get a yogurt drink to get my tongue cook off. We ordered 3 dishes and had to order 2 small bowls of steamed rice (steamed rice was slightly mushy) Spicy Crispy Boneless Diced Chicken - Standard spicy crispy chicken dish, not the best but it was good. I like this same dish at Taste of Chengdu better. Braised Pork Belly In Clay pot - Very good dish. Tender braised pork belly pieces seasoned well with hints of black bean and a little spice. The pickled green beans provided another layer of umami that made the dish interesting, watch out for the chunks of ginger that look like bamboo shoots. Sliced Beef & Ox Tongue w. chili sauce - They brought out Sliced Beef shank & Tripe instead of beef Tongue, were they out of beef tongue or was it a bait and switch? The beef shank had hints of being close to its expiry date or wasn't kept at the proper temperature. I would not order this dish again. If not for the possibly past due beef shank and slightly mushy steamed rice, it would have been a solid 4 stars. read more

Mad. Treat unfairly. I called yesterday to make a reservation. They told me that they do not take reservations. I went to the restaurant today at 6 pm hoping to get a table for 10 people. They told me to wait until everybody in my party was here. I understood and waited. When everybody arrived, they gave the last large table to people who arrived after me. The other party was seated although there were only three people there. Then, they told me they had a reservation. They asked us to wait for the next large table. I was just in the neighborhood and felt like some soup! Pulled up Chinese food and found them. OMG! the pork feet noodle soup was to die for.
