Braised Pork Belly in Wooden Bucket
    Khanh T.

First time here on a Monday night, my Chinese friend wanted to try this place to see if it's good. We got Braised Pork Belly in Wooden Bucket ($19.99), Steamed Pork Belly w/ Bun ($21.99), Hunan Stir-Fried Pork w. Chili Peppers ($16.99), and a duck soup. We ordered all entrees but none of them came with rice, rice costs $1 extra for each person, which is weird because rice always comes with these for free at other places. Our favorite dish was the Stir-Fried Pork with Chili Peppers because it was the perfect amount of saltiness and the peppers made it spicy. The Braised Pork Belly was ok but really salty, and it had a hint of sourness too. The pork belly with bun was good and the pork was really juicy, my friends loved it but it wasn't my favorite. We ordered a lot but the portions were really small so none of us was full. Also the prices here were insanely expensive for the portion sizes. This place would be worth to try if you're craving a very specific Hunan dish, but not worth if you want family-style. Service was eh.

Best food on the planet, my new favorite restaurant. This Hunan restaurant is next level from every other Chinese restaurant I've been to. My go-to is the Mongolian beef and garlic sauteed bean leaf. That Mongolian beef has a spicy cumin flavor, not like Mongolian from other restaurants

I've been meaning to try this place because it's always packed on the weekend so I finally went on a weekday. I'm not that familiar with hunan food as a region but my experience went well. Atmosphere: it's a medium sized sit down place, looks like it'd get pretty loud when it's full. If that bothers you, would recommend coming on the weekdays. I went as a party of two and they initially sat us on one of the three two people tables but the tables were extremely uncomfortable. Basically they bought nice looking wooden tables that were too low so there is very little room for your legs. I am not a large person by any means but the only way to sit comfortably was to lean forward with my legs down at an awkward angle. I would recommend avoiding the two seater tables at all costs. Not a good experience. Also the rest of the chairs were all wood with no padding so not very comfortable. Unfortunate that the owners chose the look for the seating over how comfortable it would be. Food: We ordered three dishes: Fish filet with garlic: the amount they gave was great. Fish was cooked tenderly but felt like entire dish lacked flavor. Beef with mustard greens: I will be coming back for this dish. The beef was cooked very tenderly. The dish was a bit spicy for my taste but I ordered a coconut drink (4$) to counteract the spice. Yuxiang eggplant: (with garlic sauce). Eggplant was cooked well. Pretty standard dish, done well. A plus at the end of the meal was that the waitress packed the leftovers for us. The plates were huge so that was very kind of her. We will likely come back to try some other dishes because I think we could have ordered better.

Nice clean decor, food was legit, flavorful (exceptional of soup dumpling, skin too thick, flavor was mediocre) other dishes were flavorful. I especially like the spicy crispy pork intestine. Tea was hot, service was .... Typical Chinese restaurant servers

So glad we have more Chinese options in Carrollton now. The wait can be a bit long especially on the weekends but the staff is really good about getting tables cleared pretty quickly. The menu is quite extensive and there's a good variety of everything. Portions aren't as large as some other Chinese restaurants in Plano but decently sized. I really liked their eggplant with green beans dish. Super flavorful! Definitely recommend checking them out if you are craving Chinese food and are in the area.

Great experience on short notice!!…read more I emailed Chef Teri 2 days before my husband's bday to request a private, in-home dinner for two. Since she had such glowing reviews, I was certain she would already be booked for that day and would laugh at my deadline. In the meantime, I contacted other chefs who replied back with less than desirable menus for foodies like ourselves. Thank God she replied on a Sunday with a complete menu! We went back a forth on a couple dishes but ended up with a 4 course meal with 3 different wines that would appease our picky palates! Pricing depends upon what you choose-ours ended up being a little over $500 including alcohol. Chef Teri arrived before we got home from work to prepare. She had our dining table decorated with flowers in tiny vases, candles, typed up placecards with the complete menu, and flowers in vases in our entryway and bathroom! She was warm and friendly and happy to educate us on food sources and her background. I included a pic of our menu, so I will not type up info on the dishes; however, I will say that the food was great! She truly pulled it off, without sweating, even though I gave her short notice! I can't imagine what the food would taste like with a month's notice-she is truly a gifted soul! Chef Teri clean up everything after we were finished eating and even stored some leftovers in our fridge. The chocolate leftovers were great for breakfast ;) I would recommend her to anyone needing to cater a party or intimate dinner. She was a delight to do business with, and we anticipate that we will utilize her weekly meal planning services, as well.

We were expecting about 150 people in attendance, and the event was only for two hours. We wanted food that would be easy to manage, as we mostly had just standing tables. After tasting a couple of catering options in the "Near Southside" area of Fort Worth where our headquarters is located, I was less than impressed. With Fort Worth's history of being a "good ole' boys town", the idea that we "keep things local" is much advertised, which is the feedback I received, but when the local caterers were not performing, I had to look somewhere else. I found Jared on a community rating site for various services (that of which should not be named) and was instantly impressed. Jared was quick to respond, and answered all of my questions. Since he wasn't local, the only issue we had was figuring out how to taste his cooking. Jared had another event going on at a local university the next week, and decided to drop by with a small sample. This sample was a simple chicken, mashed potatoes, and asparagus platter- nothing of which we would be wanting for our party- but I was intrigued. I cut up the sample and distributed it to my party committee and some of our principals, and we loved it! The food was hot, and the mashed potatoes tasted like Jared had been in the kitchen for hours mashing them by hand. The asparagus was perfectly cooked, as was the chicken. I was sold! We put a down payment on the date and anxiously waited. On May 11th, the day of our event, Jared showed up early to make sure that we were prepared, then he began to set up his spread. We had wanted a variety of cheeses, crackers, fruits, and some light entrees, so Jared came up with a marble slab display (very earthy and beautiful) and he placed two of the entrees in small martini glasses (shrimp and grits, artichoke dip...yum!) which were perfect for walking around and conversing with. My photo does not do this spread justice, but I have submitted it :) After the event, Jared and his bartender cleaned their area and even helped us pack away any extras that were left over. This catering service is truly "full service". We are elated to have found JaredPierre Private Chef & Catering to cater the celebration of our 25th Anniversary and we plan on using him in the future. In addition to his talents, I found him to be a wonderful individual, and we loved having his motivational energy at our event.
