I was in town visiting some family and wanted to stop by this new spot in Plano since it was open for late nights during the Thanksgiving weekend. The hours are great for late night drinks and dinner, and service was very attentive and recommended some great bar food choices! Food and service was good, but I wish they had their own yelp page instead of keeping the old one. Their old store was called Mei Wei and it was in Carrollton. They had bento boxes and dessert similar to Meet Fresh, and it was more of a casual, hang out spot. This new store is next to Ztao and they are more of a sit in restaurant. Their menu was short and when I asked if they had bento boxes, the waitress didn't really understand my question. Their menu consisted of.. 1. Main Entree $14.99 that came with rice, noodles, or congee 2. Soup $3.99 three options 3. Sides $4.99 several options No dessert menu, only a little stand on the table with taro pudding that costed $8.95. We ordered their braised pork chop, daikon meatball soup, and pig ears. Like I mentioned, food was good, but nothing special. You can only order the side and soup if you order one of the main entrees. This new store is nothing like their old store, just fyi. read more

This place is amazing! It's short of 5 stars as some dishes have been a bit of a miss but overall it's still really good. They have a seasonal symphony set menu and you can get a main and add a soup and a side to it for different pricing. Overall it makes an amazing meal! I love the eggplant salad which is more like fried eggplant with garlic soy dressing which is out of this world! I also love the braised pork chop and it comes with kai lan for a nice meal. First time I went I got free dessert which is probably because I had my toddler with me . Overall I enjoy this place. Their menu isn't too big but the quality is there. We went around 12:30pm and there were people waiting. The lady that checked us in said it was a 30 minute wait with 2 parties ahead of us. As we were waiting, we noticed that 4-5 tables were done eating and paid their bills. All got up and left, the staff quickly cleaned the tables. The cleaned tables were empty for another 15 minutes. The lady that took our names down took a while to call the next customers. Seems like we were waiting just to wait...she sat one party down and waited another 10 minute to sit the next group... anyways, after we waited for a good 40 minutes, we were finally called to be seated. Sat down and was immediately served with water and took our order down. Time for the food review: Chicken popcorn - nice crisp and texture, but lacking flavor. Felt like it needed a dipping sauce. Pork lard rice - disappointing, bland Pork intestine with green mustard - this dish was okay.. Crispy garlic salted fish - fish was nicely fried and flavor was good. Probably the best dish so far Crispy pork chop - this is the reason why we came here.. we wanted to find a dish like May Ice cream. Unfortunately, this was a huge disappointment. The pork chop was extremely salted. From the skin to the pork itself. Walnut shrimp - this dish was foul. Who puts sprinkles on the side?! Tasted like I was eating an ice cream shop. FYI the old reviews are for a previous restaurant or different location, unsure. This review is for Imperial Feast which opened August 2025 next to z.Tao in Plano. Came during the soft opening in September 2025 with excited expectations based on what we've heard, hoping to find a new go to Taiwanese spot. Unfortunately we didn't find what we were looking for. I admit this was the soft opening and things may improve, and for their sake I hope they do. Biggest issues for us were lack of flavor in the meat and multiple proteins being overcooked. The sauces they used had the flavor but it seems like the meat just wasn't given the time to marinate because the meat itself was bland. That coupled with proteins being a bit dry from being overcooked and you don't have a good combo. If they can tweak their prep process to let the meat marinate then it would solve most of the problems though. The best dish was the fried pork chop rice by far. A bit on the sweeter side so it just depends on how you like it. The bok choy it came with was basically raw though had more crunch than the pork chop. Service was also a mixed bag. The server was super nice and helped give us recs but it just seemed like they were still getting the hang of working in a restaurant. A glass of water got some food in it so the server took it away but they never brought us a new one. Again, soft opening so I give that some grace, but food has to be more on point for a new restaurant to make it. So all in all, there are definitely some kinks to work through for them. Normally I wouldn't write a review for soft opening but given that there are old reviews here plus food quality missed the mark more than I think it should've, I think people on Yelp should get a heads up. read more

Out of all the new restaurants I've tried lately, Imperial Feast has definitely been my favorite! The crispy fish with rice was the best I've ever had, and I've ordered that dish at plenty of places. The steak with noodles was also spot on; I ordered it medium-well, and the meat was still tender and flavorful. The lady at the front and our waitress were both so friendly, and the overall vibe was great. It was packed on Saturday night, but we were seated right away. I just tried the new location in Plano. The night market steak is more expensive, and they use a thicker steak now. They cooked my steak to medium perfectly and it was delicious. I didn't realize until I read the reviews that this place used to be Mei Wei in Carrollton! It's a little confusing because a lot of the pictures and reviews are for the old place. They still serve Taiwanese food, but their menu looks different. **I was also told that they have a different menu and that they only serve bar food from 9pm-2am, so do not expect the regular menu at that time. Service seemed decent, after being seated quickly we were approached by someone who was likely the manager asking if it's our first time here and she gave us recommendations. Food: - fried pork chop rice: crispiness of the pork was great and there was some fat to make it tasty as well, my friend mentioned the cooking wine flavor was a little too overpowering for her. The rice was also hard and clumpy (which I did not notice for my own dish) - crispy garlic fish: probably my favorite dish, this was really good! No complaints, would order again - basil chicken: also written as three cup chicken in Chinese, also quite good. The chicken was tender and the flavor of the chicken was good, was not too salty. I have been coming to this establishment for its previous two incarnations and I'm glad to see it's now back with a full restaurant. It's really good as long as you know what to order. I LOVE the crispy garlic salt fish fillets. I always order the intestines and sour greens and love them though I know that can be an acquired taste. And service is friendly and efficient. You order at the counter and get a buzzer for when your dishes are ready. You get your own bowls, utensils, water, and bus your own trays. We had the popcorn chicken and the fried squid tentacles which were done right with the basil and flavorings (could have made the chicken pieces a tad smaller), the XO vegetables, the basil chicken/3 cup chicken and the combo fried noodles. Got some take out here and it's sorta a hole in the wall, but the food is amazing. Huge portions, great taste, fresh and quick, the hall mark of everything you need. We went with some classic taiwanese street food staples like the popcorn chicken and fried pork chop rice that came with a little braised pork on the rice too. The popcorn chicken is juicy, well fried, and super fragrant from the five spice and fried basil. The pork chop was also super crisp and well seasoned and the other accompaniments (soy sauce egg, bok choy, pickles), made for good alternating bites. The braised pork mixture didn't really taste like much compared to the pork chop but it is a nice homey touch. They also got some classic desserts which are a bit harder to find I feel, so if you're homesick, this is where its at. read more

The food was so good, I came back twice in one week! I love taro balls shave ice and it's so hard to find besides meet fresh (far in Plano). Their basil chicken was also bomb! There's bone in it so be careful. I don't think they have boneless version but I wish they did! Love this place read more

I'm Taiwanese and I was delighted that I found this authentic Taiwanese place! I got night market steak with noodles skillet, and it's very delicious. It had the usual black pepper sauce on the steak, and the steak was tender and not too dry. The noodles were okay. I wish they could use the oil noodles/chow mein noodles. There are several other Asian restaurants as well as boba shop nearby so I'd love to come to this area again to try other food. read more

Visited this restaurant with some friends. The location was not very busy, so we had very little wait time. There is nothing special about the decor. You order up front, get your own water, choose your own table, and they'll provide a device to notify when your order is ready. We ordered a few items and they were all very tasty! There's Taiwanese fried chicken was crispy and had the standard seasoning mix you'd expect. The squid was equally crispy, though I did find it a little chewy. The basil chicken tasted very good, if you're okay with working through bones I'd recommend. The prices were very fair for the quality and amount of food. We ordered popcorn chicken, beef noodle soup, fried pork chop rice, rice noodles, and night market steak with noodles. Great Taiwanese street food restaurant. We found this restaurant from my book mark of a friend. This restaurant is between Dallas and Ft Worth. The restaurant has long menu. Our time is limited. So we have small dish here. We have the fried chicken leg to begin. The fried coating is delicious. The second dish is the night market sizzle beef noodle. I like beef steak. It is really nice. Ok, really great stuff here for some good / typical Taiwanese eats. I like the no non-sense, zero frill operations here. Go up to the counter, order your stuff and grab a seat. Pick up your food when your # is called. Simple. Add to the very clean space, plenty of seats (for a smallish restaurant), and friendly staff, I am totally a fan and wish we have one near us. For the four of us, we ordered way too much, but we wanted to try like, everything. We ordered like minced pork & rice, beef noodle soup, three cup chicken, fried pork chop, cabbage stew, night market steak, and a couple more including a dish on their special of the day board. Everything was good to great. The only thing I was not a fan of, was the night market steak lol (surprisingly bland). However, the cabbage stew surprised me. It tasted just like how my grandma would make it back in the days. She would add congee which made it a salty/savory congee. The flavor was so similar it brings back a lot of good memories. We also had their tofu dessert, the classic syrup with peanuts and it was great as well. Again, I wish we have one in the city we live in, but we'll just have to make this a part of our must-visit list when we are in the area. read more

We weee craving for some good Chinese foods in Carrollton and found this. The service was great as well as the foods. We want to come back to try everything on the menu. It's a quiet little restaurant that has a lot of traditional dishes along with many yummy desserts. The portion sizes were great, too. I had the chicken rice plate (forgot what they called it), and my daughter had their beef noodle soup. So good! You can tell the noodles were hand pulled, made in-house. Lastly, we got desserts there. My daughter said their mango drink was delicious. I got a bowl of their dessert with various treats. B7 - fried braised chicken leg $7.95 So juicy and crispy with 5 spice powder, can't go wrong and so filling. Can be a snacks appetizer or even a meal for some. The meat is thick and juicy. B2 - deep fried tofu $6.95 Fried tofu with basil leaves, fun snack and delicious! The tofu is soft inside. A11 - Braised beef brisket (with rice or noodle) $14.95 HUGE portion, beef brisket is tender and juicy packed with flavor. The radish and carrots were soft and braised well too. It also comes with seaweed salad and peanuts which were a great pairing. Honestly can't find a lot of good Taiwanese food in DFW (I mean... other than my mom's house). Fried chicken thigh rice 5/5 YUggge portion, thick almost as good as my fave dish at King's noodles. Fantastic addition to the plaza in Carrollton. Having access to both solid Taiwanese food and desserts in the area is a big plus. If you're missing those flavors from Taiwan, this is a good place to satisfy some of those cravings. The fried porkchops are delicious and portions are generous. Entrees are reasonably priced and I have yet to leave this place hungry. Fried Pork Chop with Rice - The quintessential Taiwanese plate of comfort food. The pork chop is crispy and completely delicious. Reasonably salted and accompanied by a hard boiled egg. Don't mind the broccoli... I consider it more a decoration to add some color to the dish, but you can also tell yourself its there to make it seem like you're eating healthy. We all know who the real star of the dish is. The pork chop is fantastic and goes well with the steamed rice that has a bit of the braised minced pork and drippings on it as well for flavor. Braised Minced Pork Rice - This fatty pork dish is another Taiwanese favorite. The pork and fat melts into the rice. The medley of fat and carbs is a party in the mouth. This dish just straight takes me to my happy place. The egg and bok choy are welcomed addition to changeup the flavors of the pork and rice when you need a bit of distraction. Crispy Garlic Fish Fillet - The fish here has a strong and salty garlic flavor to it. Filets are well fried while still tender. Strong flavor profile and absolutely delicious. Mung Bean Smoothie - This drink is thick and delicious for those that enjoy sweetened mung beans. A great dessert or compliment to any meal for the masochist that wants to burst their stomach, albeit it would be worth the pain. Taro Ball Desserts - All the taro ball desserts with mochi like rice cakes are fantastic. Not overly sweet at all. The taro ball series are fantastic and if you like the coconut like flavors, the E-1 taro series dessert is fantastic. Overall, the service here was some of the best I've had. Staff has been very helpful and courteous. Food is great if you enjoy Taiwanese comfort foods. We came again today hoping to try their tofu series. They're still testing flavors for the tofu series but we were given the opportunity to taste test it. The tofu is super soft, tender, rich, flavorful, and just right! It's the sweet type and cold which is great for a hot summer dessert. The toppings and flavors this week fit our tastes perfectly. The owner said they'll be testing more toppings ideas in the coming weeks as he wants to innovate to find the Mei Wei flavor. Service was excellent as always. Wasn't too busy. Found this neat Taiwanese spot tucked away on the smaller side of the 99 Ranch plaza. The store is fast casual; offers food and dessert selection. One bonus is if you order a meal, you'll receive a discount on a drink item. I ordered the A2 pork chop rice with a side of fried tofu and a mango sago drink. This is a fantastic place located inside 99 Ranch Food court. Come here while you still can because the owner told me that they're moving to the Carrollton location in March. The fried fish is my favorite by far. It has a marvelous crispy exterior and tender, flakey fish on the inside. The beef noodle soup is really good too. The broth itself had a rich, hearty flavor that's not overwhelming while the noodles are a perfect chewy texture. I've been eating here since they were located in 99 Ranch Frisco, and I have been so happy (and fatter) since they've moved closer to me in Carrollton. Very authentic Taiwanese spot that serves delicious, homey food. It really hits the spot whenever my husband and I have Taiwanese food cravings. Our usual go-to orders are the Night Market Steak, Braised Pork Rice, Salt & Pepper Tofu, and sometimes the Salt & Pepper Chicken. The portions are always generous and huge. I usually eat half and take the rest home for my next meal. My husband LOVES the Night Market Steak. It's cooked perfectly each time with a spicy, peppery sauce over noodles and veggies. The Braised Pork Rice (Lurou Fan) is just a solid, nostalgic dish. While my husband likes the S&P chicken, I'm not really a fan of it as I think it should be crispier and has too much batter.
