The service here is amazing! They are incredibly friendly and clearly are happy to be working at this restaurant. We are huge fans of Taiwanese comfort food a d we're excited to give this place a try. We had the braised Pork Chop, the Salt and Pepper Fish, and the Minced Pork over Rice. All the dishes were well prepared and tasty. The one thing I do miss that I normally get from similar restaurants is some pickled Mustard Greens along with my dishes. Came here on a Thursday for dinner and it was pretty busy. The place is fairly small so there's limited seating. Most of the people in our group ordered the braised pork over rice/noodle. It definitely isn't the same thing you would get in Taiwan, but it was still delicious and the best I've had in Texas. However, the quality of the pork is a bit inconsistent. Some bowls had all meat while some bowls were all fat. I like that each meal comes with some broccoli, a tea egg and radish. We used to love this place but we went today and it's not the same. Food did not taste as good as before (taste like they are reusing the frying oils) and the worst of them all they did not wait for the hot food to cool or put some kind of layer between hot food and styrofoam container. The heat melted the container and it definitely released carcinogens. We get take out all the time from other restaurants people usually put aluminum foil between the food and container to prevent this from happening. they're attached to a dessert place and when they first opened they had a promotion of $3 off a dessert with a qualifying meal. alot of things were out of stock when we went. but we had the chicken nuggets, calamari, pork chop and sizzling steak. i probably won't get the sizzling steak again because it's not to my taste, but not because it didn't taste like how it should (lol does that make sense). it got pretty cramped in there during grand opening so i had to dodge and weave between people in the line. a welcome addition for taiwanese food in the area. will go back and hopefully try the beef noodle soup and chicken chop rice when its available again. read more

A Taiwanese friend of a friend recommended this place and said Taro Ball 4 was good, so I ordered it. It's a shaved ice dessert with different toppings. The jelly tastes SO delicious and the shaved ice will leave you feeling refreshed in the summer heat. The mango sago was also cute and tasty (see the hello kitty cup) When we first came, they were sold out of one food my friend really wanted to try- beef noodle stew. By the time we came back, it was popping with customers. The workers were kind enough to give us a third dessert on the house. you know this place is legit, when you go to place an order and the lady speak to you in Mandarin. there's so much going on within this tiny restaurant. its like a blend of Taiwanese confort food, with meet-fresh desserts. last time i was in this plaza, i told myself i really wanted to check this place out for the desserts. so when i came back i ended up trying the grass jelly cold dessert with taro balls. The dessert is very similar to what meet fresh sells. they actually give you two creamers instead of the one they give you at meet fresh, which is nice. you can't beat cold grass jelly desserts during a hot summer texan day. they also have alot of other taiwanese dishes, and as an taiwanese person, i'm so happy to see more places pop up in dfw. i also wanted to try the night market sizzling steak plate, but we already ate elsewhere. definitely will try it the next time i come back. Recently coming back from Taiwan left us craving good Taiwanese food. Found this place on Yelp and hopped in the car... you order and pick up your food Kiosk style. Ordered two items for dine in, Beef Noodle Soup and Night Market Steak cooked Medium. 2/10 The Beef Noodle Soup, felt bland. The meat was tender but the noodles were too soft and the soup was bland. The soup had little green onions and the pickled greens were okay, different from what I'm used to. I asked for some extra green onions, the cashier asked her coworker who just coldy said it was already on the bottom. 0/10 Night Market Steak, was returned without a single bite. Looked okay, the hot plate was definetly not hot enough to serve on. The first cut into the steak felt too soft, like it was still rare. Cutting through I noticed the meat was stringy and raw. This visit was disappointing, my wife left over half her Beef Noodle Soup and I, with an empty stomach. We headed straight to our default Taiwanese food resturant. A bit disappointed when we got takeout from MWTC. Their website is not updated with the menu items. We clicked on the pictures of the menu off of Yelp to order. Unfortunately (again) due to outdated menu, they no longer offer Taiwanese meatball soup, stir-fried basil chicken, nor minced pork with tofu. Very delicious Taiwanese food from incredibly friendly owners. When I ordered my pork chop with rice, I also asked if they had stinky tofu. The nice man said they did not but pointed at the food stall in front of his and said they did. It was sweet that they recommended someone else instead of just saying no. My new favorite spot. They have very authentic Taiwanese food for a good price - I was iffy about trying this place at first since it's inside a food court, but so glad I did!! I love their fried pork chop bento. They drizzle the rice with braised pork rice sauce (which tastes amazing). The pork chop is so crispy but doesn't feel too greasy. Portion was big enough for me to eat for 2 meals. The only down side is they don't have brown rice as options. I also tried their basil squid... the seasoning/sauce is tasty but they don't remove the inside of the squid which I don't like to eat so had to pick it out. I know some people might prefer the creamy taste of the squid internal organs. Will definitely come back to try more dishes. They also added milkfish & clam to their menu. Tried this place before when they were at Frisco and I must say I was not impressed. Half a year later, I see the Mei Wei sign going up behind the 99 ranch Carrollton and I was yea let me give it another try because I do not want to drive to Plano to get pork chop rice and boy was I glad to try it again. The fried pork chop is just delicious, reminds me of 小美 back in the early days in Richardson. Currently they are in their grand opening phase so they have promos going and super crowded early but I know what I'll be eating on my weekdays for lunch/dinner now. For most grocery store food stalls, I feel like it's always hit or miss. However, Mei Wei is a true gem in the middle of a grocery store / north Texas. The older man working the cash register was attentive and nice. I noticed he always came out to see if any customers were coming. I ordered an A2 combo: Taiwanese Fried pork chop rice. They gave us a buzzer to indicate when the food would be ready. ALSO he gave us a free bottled water with our order which I thought was very nice! We took a seat at the table inside the stall, and the food came out in less than 10 minutes: it was hot, fresh and everything you could expect at a full-on restaurant (but in a takeout type container). The fried pork was large, delicious, and crispy . Not greasy at all. The rice underneath was a big portion with a brown sauce seasoning. The bok Choy side was good, and the boiled egg was also good. This place is a hidden gem. Since we found it we've been at least twice a week. The pork cutlets, mackerel and the noodles are stand outs but honestly we've had nothing bad. OH! Located within the Ranch 99 at the food court area, this place serves authentic Taiwanese food. The store was clean and operated in a self service manner with wireless beepers. Their medium rare Black Pepper Steak is personally my most favorite under $20 steak in the whole of DFW. It is a rib eye steak that was covered with black pepper sauce and came with pasta, egg and some vegetables. The rib eye steak was fatty and very flavorful. One of the only places in DFW that I know of with Night Market Steak, and it's pretty good! Definitely my go to place whenever I'm craving it, and it's served on the hot stone plates which really makes the experience. Comes with noodles, mushroom sauce, sunny side up egg, and veggies. It's a pretty good portion that I usually have leftovers from, so I'd say it's worth the price. It's located in the 99 Ranch Food court, so that's the setting you should expect, and service is fine. My first visit to Mei Wei was an overall great experience. Their focus on Taiwan food was spot on and this is the most authentic Taiwanese food that my wife and I have found in Dallas. Their noodles are hand-made and chewy. The broth had a flavor closer to what you find in Taiwan and was not very salty.
