The lamb skewers were so fatty and juicy, it had so much flavor, and they even gave us complimentary sugar glazed grapes and the herbal tea was delicious, definitely would come back read more

This place is AMAZING! It is Chinese BBQ done RIGHT! Tucked in the back area of one of Carrollton's Korea Town shopping squares, you will find the absolute best open flame cooked meats of your life! The lamb ribs are my favorite in the country - bar none! They are the perfect combination of fatty and meaty and salty. Each bite glistens and has the perfect amount of delicious char. The potato salad is a vinegar based one. Great crunch. The quail is rich and amazing and the cucumber salad is the perfect balance of refreshing, salty, and savory - with a whisper of heat. The service is quick and friendly. You simply fill out the boxes next to what items you want and they come and bring the food. Ambiance is fun! Very authentic. Feels like a Chinese street food market! One of my top 10 places in Dallas! read more

I visited here since I arrived too late for KBBQ in this general area and tried a few skewers: lamb, pork belly, quail and chicken heart, as well as their beef noodle soup. The soup arrives at the table first. It's hot and delicious and the noodles tasted pretty fresh. A handful of beef slices were included in the large bowl. Next out were the skewers and they brought these out in phases with the pork belly and quail coming out last. My favorite was the lamb as I love the seasoning and flavor of lamb skewers, no matter what restaurant cooks them. They were playing the world cup game on one of their tv's, but I was on the other side of the restaurant and didn't get a good view. read more

The skewers are so delicious and I love the spices they put on it! We tried the lamb, chicken, Taiwanese sausage, fried chicken skin, lamb dry noodle, potatoes, and egg plant. The lamb was succulent and had a nice flamed taste. The chicken was also excellent and flavorful. The Taiwanese sausage was heavily spiced and really good. The lamb noodle was a little on the greasy side but the noodles were bouncy and chewy while the flavoring was good. Sliced lamb a bit dry but okay. The chicken skin had a nice texture and not as fluffy as pork skin but easier to chew. The cold potatoes gave the food a nice balance. The eggplant was juicy and flames grilled. Loved it! We came on a weekday around 3pm and it wasn't very busy so we had friendly service. The server was likely also prepping food so he took a while to close out our order. However, you pay at the front desk so it wasn't bad. read more

Great food and clean facility! I've came here several times with friends and always had a good time. The orders come out pretty fast and it is open quite late as well. There is a self serve sauce bar and it's in a very convenient location. read more

Fat Ni BBQ is the real deal -- proper Chinese-style skewer BBQ, not the watered-down version you usually find in the DFW area. Lamb skewers are tender, well-seasoned. Beef skewers were juicy with good smoky flavor. Pork belly skewers were rich and fatty. read more

Stopped in because we were nearby at a Yelp Elite event and we were hungry. It was late afternoon on a Sunday and we were the only diners. We were greeted promptly and friendly as we walked in and were provided a small pitcher of water and some edamame as we sat down. We looked over the menu and decided to stick with the skewer offerings and added the smashed cucumber salad as an appetizer. The salad was delicious, but we really have not ever had a cucumber salad we didn't like. We're just cucumber folks. For the skewers we selected lamb, beef, beef tendon, shrimp, pork belly, bacon wrapped mushrooms, scallops, a choy, Chinese buns, and as a last minute edition, lamb kidney. We try to order something we've never had before when the opportunity presents itself and in this case the beef tendon and lamb kidney were our "new" selections. Over all the smashed cucumber salad was the best part of our meal. All the meat skewers were over cooked and the Chinese buns really didn't have any flavor (but they were a nice texture). I ended up dipping them in the dressing of the cucumber salad. The a choy and bacon wrapped mushrooms were are next favorites. The pricing was less expensive than other Asian skewer restaurants we've been to, but we wish the meats had been prepared better. When taking photos, we started out good, but forgot to keep taking snapshots as the skewers kept coming out. I guess our hunger took over. read more

The food here was honestly so good. I thought the price for the food was honestly not bad. What's crazy is that I didn't even know there was a sauce bar until after finishing most of our skewers but it was so good without it that I definitely have to some again for the sauce. I do have to say the chicken here was SUPER tender. The chicken in the noodle soups just melted in my mouth. I got the Spicy and the Regular but the spicy one was so good. Even the noodles were fire! The only thing we didn't really like were the Chinese buns because although it had that chargrilled taste, there was also a burnt taste that was super prominent. The buns were bad but they weren't as good as we thought they would be. The service was good and honestly the skewered came out pretty fast! I thought the whole restaurant was super lively and it's definitely a great late night spot after or for drinks. Our table didn't get any but the beer towers were HUGE and for the price I think they are well worth it. Come check this place out because it's one of the only spots open till late in the area! read more

Came here for lunch on a Wednesday and it was basically empty. I really enjoyed just about everything! I got the lamb, beef, chicken, pork belly, mushroom, and Chinese bun skewers. Everything is seasoned with the same dry rub that is very cumin heavy (which I usually associate with Hispanic food rather than Chinese so it was a surprising flavor but good!) I definitely recommend exploring the sauce bar they have to dip everything in. The highlight for me was the Soy Bean Paste noodles which were actually recommended by my server. They were insanely good with some ground beef and veggies. The bowl is either a giant meal for one person or good to share with the table. The lowlight was the beef noodle soup. The broth was not super flavorful and it was more noodle than meat or mushroom. The place is nice inside! And our server was great I appreciated his help navigating the menu and all the food came out very quickly. It was also extremely reasonable for the price. If you want to see them hand pull the noodles you can sort of watch from ur seat looking at the kitchen but they don't do it at your table (maybe unless you ask). read more

Prior, I would go to Fat Ni BBQ with people who are not adventurous eaters. However, I made a new friend who is a huge adventurous foodie just like me! He did all the ordering. We got beers which were good. The lamb and chicken gizzard were good! I feel like the seasoning is still repetitive, but you can definitely use the sauce bar for some changes. My friend definitely changed my mind about Fat Ni BBQ. Coming into this restaurant, I feel like I need to try whatever I want to try and not be restrained from others' restrictions or preferences, so the fact that I had the opportunity to do it... I would definitely come back now especially for the beer towers lol! read more

We went to Fat Ni on a weekend evening. I ordered lamb, pork belly and chicken skewers. The food was mediocre as the meat needed to be more tenderized. It was chewy and hard at one point, especially the chicken. However the vegetables skewers turned out to be pretty good. The chives and mushroom skews are flavorful with their special house seasoning. The noodles was ok. The chili oil from sauce bar helps me with seasoning this dish. Service was meh as expected. read more

Ample parking, was pretty empty on a monday night. Food is not bad, we spent about 80$ for two people but in hindsight we ordered too much. You can probably get away with about 30$pp. The oil spill noodles were the best that we had! read more

chill chinese style skewer spot ! you order per stick, and there's free cold edamame at the beginning of your meal every skewer kinda tasted similar with the five spice seasoning, and i wish they would adapt each skewer to its own unique flavor profile for the most part the season worked well!! my favorite was the squid! so chewy and addicting. i also tried the chicken gizzards, beef, and pork belly, ranked in that order! my friend had their chinese sausage and toasted buns which were both GREAT! a little expensive but enjoyable for a light meal read more

This place is my goat. You HAVE to try the oil-spilled noodles, the lamb skewers, grilled leek, and potato wedges. Service is pretty quick and food doesn't take as long as you think to come out. It has a pocha vibe so it's pretty loud in the evenings, but my favorite place nonetheless. read more

Fun place for drinks and snack bites of food. They do have larger meals but really most people go for beer and skewers! Great skewer place!! This area is always busy, but Fat Ni truly deserves more attention. Really great meat and seasonings.

I couldn't stop thinking about the lamb skewers so I had to come back! They were fantastic!! The shrimp skewers were good as well but it was hard to peel the shells off. Service is always quick and exceptional! On a Saturday evening it's as busy as the parking lot but the quality of the food was still the same which was FANTASTIC!! Can't wait to go back! read more

To start off, the food is a 5/5 for me. My sister would argue otherwise but I really like this place. The issue is with the service. There is one older lady who works there who is extremely rude. My mom and I went to eat here after a long flight back from Chicago, and when we got seated we had to wait so long for a waiter to come over to us. Not once do they check on you, they just set your food down and cross out the order on the sheet. We had to go up to pay since no one would come over when we raised our hands for the check. Also for to go boxes, just grab it yourself because they take forever. read more

1 Star I came here with a friend and had a terrible experience from the moment we walked in. As soon as we entered, the lady at the front was extremely rude -- she literally yelled at us to sit at a specific table. We sat down, looked over the menu, and realized no one cared to explain anything to us. When I finally called her over to ask a simple question about the menu, she caught the nastiest attitude and made it seem like I was bothering her. Her tone was so rude that even my friend's jaw dropped. We decided to stay only because we were really hungry and didn't have anywhere else to go. The food was mediocre at best -- some dishes were just strange, and the beef soup I ordered had absolutely no flavor. Overall, the experience was uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and disappointing. Definitely a 0/10 and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Casual BBQ/skewer place with fast service! Fat Ni BBQ is located in a mall with plenty of other Asian stores. My friends and I came around 4 PM so it wasn't crowded at all, inside is spacious with multiple table seatings. The menu has various skewer options, noodles, rice, and drinks. Each table gets complimentary edamame beans. We weren't too hungry so we order 1-2 skewers per person. I got the chicken heart skewer ($2.50). My skewer had good amount of meat on it, well cooked and not overly salty. Overall solid Chinese BBQ place with good skewer and relaxed atmosphere. Would love to try the other skewers and beer tower my next visit! read more

Interesting and good introduction to Chinese BBQ. Had a large selection of meat skewers, noodle dishes and breads. While some things were better than others, all things were great. While we ordered everything up front, it would have been nicer if the skewers were brought out over time instead of in large groups. It ended up that many were cold by the time we ate them. There was a portable grill on each table but, if it was intended to keep the skewers warm as I had seen in some YouTube vids, that was not offered to us. Some of the meats were very difficult to remove from the skewers especially after they cooled. My favorite was the lamb. The kidney, heart and gizzard were less enjoyable than expected. Noodles were unique. Preferred them in the soup rather than dry / stir fry. The Pita Bread preferred over the Chinese buns. Smashed cucumbers were tasty. Be aware there is a "sauce bar" where you can get spices / sauces for the meats... another thing we had to figure out on our own. Overall a good experience. read more

Service was quick and food was reasonably priced. The skewers are priced by the stick so you could really rack up the bill quickly if you eat a lot so recommend grabbing one of the bowls they offer too! This place was good. I'll come back to eat if my friends are craving it; but if I was gonna choose a place for dinner or to recommend someone, I'd choose somewhere else in the area. There are a lot of options to choose from but when it came out it ranged from being a little too salty or a little too dry for me. I will say that the chili oil noodles were delicious though and I love that they have a sauce bar! read more

Tip: whatever you wear here will smell of delicious smokiness so wear comfortable clothes. This place is sooo friggn good. That smoky flavor is really addicting. They do give you a complimentary serving of edamame here but it was so good we got the big portion instead. The noodles here are wonderfully chewy so I think it's made right then and there at the restaurant. The meats are so tender and surprisingly not dried out even though it's smoked/grilled. I recommend the bacon covered mushrooms. It has the right amount of savory goodness that compliment the mild enoki taste. read more

We came in on a Monday after noon. Was empty. Great service. Excellent food. Menu prices are less than on the yelp menu. The beef tendon was fantastic! Lamb was "most excellent"! This is some of the worst food I have had in a while. The braised chicken was basically burnt bones. Where's the meat? The skewers were like see through sheets of meat that were rough to chew. Fat Ni is a really great place to come with friends and I love their Oil Spill Noodles and pork belly skewers. The interior and ambiance are very upbeat, and you can see the charcoal grill they cook the skewers on which is pretty cool. The skewers have a nice smokey flavor and the pork belly and lamb ones were super crispy and delicious! The beef skewers were a bit dry and not as good in my opinion. Maybe it was because I was super hungry that day but I kind of got hooked on these Oil Spill Noodles which were so flavorsome and had delightfully chewy noodles. Definitely worth trying this place at least once. read more

We finally made it for lunch! They are closed on Tuesday. Who knew?! Not us obviously since we had plans to come earlier this week lol. Anyway, we made it. The skewers were well seasoned and tasty. The scallop one was a shock. It's like a baby scallop cut into 6 pieces, so make sure you order more than one. The Chinese buns didn't really have a lot of flavor according to my lunch date. What I did really like were the chicken hearts, pork belly, bacon enoki and cilantro though I didn't taste any cilantro, and the lamb cumin noodles. Loved the noodles. They were coated in flavor, long and chewy. There are other skewers I want to try, so I will definitely be back. read more

Food was delicious and fresh! The waiter was quick and to the point, no small talk, which was refreshing because we were starving lol. The whole shop was full, but we didn't wait more than 5-8 minutes for skewers, and they usually came out 2-3 at a time depending on the order read more

The service here was superb! The waitress had so much energy and was very helpful with our questions. They let us know that they offered a great deal for the beer tower! Not sure if it's available anymore but that was a pleasant surprise. Ordering from a sheet of paper was very convenient. Unfortunately they don't offer any rice dishes. Only noodles. The food came out fairly quick. The chicken, pork belly, and Taiwanese sausages were super tasty and bursting with flavor. The seafood ones (shrimp squid and scallops) were okay. Veggies were good! Unfortunately the food gets cold as they bring everything at the same time and they don't offer anything to keep the skewers warm like other places. This is a great place to hangout with friends and enjoy delicious street food and some cheap beer! It is cheaper than other places I've been so I'd definitely comeback sometime! read more

We came here as a party of six and we're immediately seated and served. A few of us ordered the noodles and boy! That was spicy! We weren't aware there was a sauce bar until after our meal, but since we finished everything it clearly didn't matter! Great flavor and lots of options! Lunch seems to be a good time to visit if you're looking for quick and personalized service. The waitress was super nice and gave great recommendations based off the fact that I came with a non-Asian friend. The Oyster Mushrooms and A-Choy are always a must. You can't go wrong with the Beef Skewers or Chicken Heart either. The skewers have a great smoky flavor and they grill to get it crispy. The Pork Belly was a bit too crispy for my taste, it got dried out. The other weak point was the Lamb, which I found cooked well but underseasoned. We also ordered half a braised chicken and some other skewers for a total of ~$75. A bit pricy, but still okay. DFW does Chinese BBQ skewers well, and this place is no exception. One of my favorite places I've tried so far! read more

Food wasn't fresh, it seems they gave us leftover meat that didn't taste like beef. Don't recommend much but might just be my experience.

This place can add up quickly so be mindful on your choices. Do you really need 4 skewers of pork belly? Yes. Actually, my absolutely favorite skewer was the tendon. When done right, tendon just melts in your mouth and has almost a sticky consistency that I love but I know it's not for everyone. The hardest part about ordering so many skewers is eating them while they're still hot. Because once they cool off, it just doesn't taste as good. The only complaint I have is that everything was really salty, including the bowl of noodles that we ordered. Again, the noodles were hand cut and delicious, but also a bit salty. I would love to go to their Plano location to see if it's any different. read more
