If you're looking for a cozy dinner spot, definitely check out this place. It's a mom and pop shop that specializes in pork bone soup and it really feels like it. The menu is very simple, with four standard soup/stew/contents options and size/ add on options. I also like that there are tongs and a soup spoon included so people wont need to reach into the pot with their personal chopsticks/spoon. This makes the meal reasonable for sharing with friends and colleagues. We got size medium and it came with 3 rice but fed four people, so depending on your party's hunger level you may choose to judge the size, start smaller and include add ons for rice / ingredients as desired. We got the GamJa Tang (pictured) and it was very tasty. As pictured, our pot was piled high with several vegetables and lots of meat. Some bones had a lot of meat and some had just a little but the average amount was reasonable for the price. There was also a healthy portion of each vegetable. Lots of potatoes, bean sprouts, cabbage and rice cakes. The broth was rich and cozy and made all the ingredients that much more delicious as it was absorbed. There is a healthy heap of gochujang but I didn't really find it to be a lot of heat, even though the menu said "spicy". It might make some people sad but I found it to be very accommodating for sharing with a group with different spice tolerances. The banchan included are daikon kimchi, cabbage kimchi and a zucchini/carrot side dish. They are all very tasty and mild for those who don't tolerate spicy. There is also a horseradish sauce that is available for dipping, although if I had enough I'd probably try to swim in it. It's very delicious! Overall, I'm really happy with my experience here and I highly recommend others to enjoy it as well. Hope you give it a try soon!

This was my first time trying gamjatang, and it was absolutely delicious! The portions were huge, and the staff checked in often to make sure we had everything we needed. They were super friendly and welcoming. We sat by the door, but the whole place felt very clean and well-kept. I would definitely come back again. Highly recommend if you're a fan of gamjatang!

This is a new gamjatang place that opened up recently. The inside is pretty spacious with lots of tables that seat 4 each. The atmosphere is pleasant and clean with trendy upbeat music playing overhead. This restaurant only serves pork bone stew. The menu consists of 3 versions of it: spicy, non-spicy, and non-spicy with seafood. You can order extra toppings as well. Each stew comes in 3 sizes - small, medium, and large. The difference is - small comes with 2 bowls of rice and has enough food for two people, medium has 3 bowls of rice, large has (I assume) more. Complimentary small dishes include kimchi cabbage, kimchi radish, and squash. And, boy, were they delicious! We ordered a small spicy stew to split between 3 people. The stew came out fast. There's a hotplate thing at each table. The meat is pre-cooked, but the veggies are uncooked, so you have to wait for the stew to boil and cook the veggies before eating (took maybe 5 mins). The stew tasted amazing - meat was super tender and flavorful, veggies were refreshing, and broth was good and just a little spicy. Pro Tip for leftovers: Save your rice til the end. Let the broth simmer until there's only 1/4 left, then dump your rice and any leftover veggies and small dishes in, turn up the heat, and make your own gamjatang fried rice. Tastes great!

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile. We ordered the gam ja tang, and it was delicious. The dishes were brought out very fast, and we had to wait for the soup to boil at the table, and we get to control the intensity of the heat at the table. It is very convenient. The soup is a flavorful pork based broth. It came with pork bone, potatoes, bean sprouts, and cabbage. It is medium spicy. We came right before dinner on a weekend, and there were plenty of seats. No music playing, but great quiet ambience.

This was so legit!! Their gamjatang was so delicious and perfectly spicy, the meat nice and tender. We opted to add glass noodles, which I really think is the move. They make an, in my opinion, even more delicious fried rice in the end with your leftovers, which made a great lunch the next day!

Amazing addition to K town Carrollton that represents real authentic Korean food. This is the first gamjatang specialized restaurant in DFW. Gamjatang translates to potato (gamja) tang (soup). It is made with pork bone broth, perilla seeds, flavorful seasoning paste with soybean base, pork neck bone, potato, leafy greens, soybean sprouts. It is meant to be shared so bring at least one other person with you! Between three people we shared medium and it was plenty. Gamjatang is boiled right at the table using induction and it has so much flavor and depth. You can choose to accompany it with bowl of white rice and/or choose to add extra starch such as udon, knife cut noodles, dough, glass noodle, or ramen noodles in the soup as well. The soup itself is very rich, porky, a little nutty from the perilla seed powder, with a bit of kick. It's considered a Korean comfort food and will make you sweat. The meat falls off the bone so easily and is tender. It can be hard to pick the meat off the bone if you're not an avid chopstick user but you can always use the plastic glove they give you to hold on to the bone to tear the meat off. When you're comfortably full with a bit of broth left, you can ask them for fried rice which is made at the table using your leftover broth. This is a very authentic way of finishing off Korean foods! If you're wanting an authentic Korean comfort food experience, this is the place to go. As other reviews said, it tastes just as good as gamjatang you would get in Korea. The service is also excellent and it's a family run business. I'm happy more traditional style Korean restaurants are popping up in this area.

Delicious pork soup. To get all the meat from the bones you'll need to use your hands. The potato pasta and udon are a great addition to the flavorful broth. Friendly service every time.

I went to Ilinja Gamjatang with a couple of friends and we ordered a large gamjatang. Firstly the side dishes were absolutely spot on and delicious. The main dish was amazing to taste. I have eaten gamjatang in Korea and elsewhere but this place is right up there among the top in my view. Authentic and made to perfection. Highly recommended.

Before the main event, we got the seafood & green onion pancake. Crispy on the outside and reasonably chewy interior. Good amount of seafood; in particular, the oyster stood out. It was also a nice portion that was ideal for sharing. I opted for the seafood soondubu. Everything, from the banchan to the specific side dishes served with the soondubu, came out not too long after ordering. I got it at spice level three which I thought offered the right amount of kick without being too overwhelming (I also like to think I have a pretty strong spice tolerance). It had a good variety of seafood; namely, the shrimp and oyster. I'm not the biggest fan of clams but they were definitely still tasty. The tofu was soft and silky. The yellow croaker and rice were great supplements to the dish. The rice perfectly absorbed the broth. The croaker added a nice crunchy break from everything. The banchan was pretty standard in my opinion - still, a great complement to the soondubu. Last but not least - service was attentive and quick. I will definitely be coming back at some point!

The restaurant had plenty of space, but service was still super fast and efficient anyway, which I loved. What I love about Chodang is that the food is stellar and such good PORTIONS. Knowing this, I still opted to order a Combo Special because the thought of having leftovers for the next day sounded great to me. I ordered the Kimchi Tofu Soup with Beef Bulgogi, and it was delicious. I usually order my soups at the Spicy level, which I would say has a kick and flavor but never leaves me panting for air or water. As someone who likes spice, I wouldn't say it's very spicy, but definitely flavorful. Beef Bulgogi is one of my favorite dishes, and this place's version does not disappoint. The meat is tender and has a good balance of sweet and salty. My friends also ordered Combo Specials with a Tofu soup and the Korean bbq ribs, and Spicy Pork Bulgogi. One of these friends opted for the medium spice level, which I would say is a safe choice for everyone, especially if you're worried about something being too spicy. All soups come with Korean side dishes, a whole grilled yellow croaker fish (delicious but lots of bones), and a hot stone bowl of rice. Nothing missed!
