No wait during lunch on a Saturday. We ordered quite a bit of food and it came out relatively quickly. I really enjoyed the kalbi and the cold buckwheat noodles were refreshing.
Stopped here to try the raw marinated blue crabs Ive been seeing all over social media. The restaurant is in a strip area near Hmart in Carrollton, which tends to be busy for parking. They only offer the the soy ones here but worth the visit. They only offer this dish in a medium ($40.99) and a large ($59.99) portion option, which is not great if you are solo, but at least you get leftovers. I got the medium which comes with 4 banchan and 2 bowls of white rice and the bowl of crab. The crab were delicious and marinated with soy, orange, and ginger. The meat was sweet and tender and just melted in your mouth. You do have to get your hands involved to peel and eat the crabs but they do provide gloves you can use if wanted, but prepare for sticky hands regardless as the crabs spine easily poke while you eat. While the service was very um relaxed, in my opinion. All in all it was a good experience.
I came here on a Sunday mid afternoon around 3:00p.m. I was able to get a table right away. It was fairly loud in there as there were some big groups of people dining. Our male server was nice. The food was good in general as well. I'd probably skip the seafood pancake next time though because of the imitation crab. The skillet was also not hot either which was a bit mind boggling. The beef intestine and L.A. kalbi were both very good. Overall, the flavor of the food here is good and I'd visit again. I was hoping there were would be some traditional Korean dessert options or even shikke here, but I don't really have any complaints overall.
The original-flavored spare ribs are out of this world. The flavor is absolutely top-notch, as they are perfectly seasoned, rich, and just hits every time. I do enjoy the spicy garlic flavor, but honestly, the original blows it away for me. It's that good. Service is always attentive and on point. On busier nights there can be a bit of a wait, but most of the time there's no line and it's easy to get seated. Bottom line: the ribs are so good that I keep coming back. If you're on the fence, start with the original. Promise you won't regret it.
My goodness the food here is great. A tad bit pricey, however, very worth it. Also the customer service is great. I highly recommend getting the Soy Marinated Raw Crab with rice, Spicy Cold Noodles, and Ox Combination Soup. Hot bibimbap is delicious as well. I'll definitely be back.
Been a while since I've been back here. Brought a friend who has never tried Korean food before. Told her about the original pork ribs, seafood pancake, and banchan assortment. We came for an early lunch - service was quick - food was amazing - and the place, as always was comfortable and warm. This is my go to for these dishes in all of DFW. You will not be disappointed.
We've been coming back quite a few times since my first review. Great food & environment to hangout and be loud if you want. Service is fast & friendly. We had the marinated crab, soy garlic pork ribs, beef rib soup and seafood pancake. All so delicious and enough for the 4 of us.
This area is always packed and crazy the amount of food and shops on both sides of the freeway. Plenty of Asian food options!! Parking lot is def a mad house and even for dinner at 6pm. Service and food were great. Clean restaurant! Pork ribs did not disappoint and apparently what they are known for. Seafood and green onion pancake was not pictured but probably one of the most crispy and airy ones that I have had. Very good dipping sauce as well. Pork neck soup hit the spot with a good amount of spice and tender pork. Bulgogi was good and came on a hot plate with tons of green onions and bean sprouts. Would def come back.

Service is good but food is great! They play nice kpop songs while you eat and they also serve soju. So this place can be very lively depending on the time of day. They're usually always busy as well.
Great place for delicious Korean food. The pork ribs and the pork neck bone soup are two of their well known dishes. Both are delicious and flavorful. We also tried the squid, which was also super tasty. This is one of my favorite Korean spots in Carrollton. They also serve a couple of banchan items as well which is nice. The food we ordered also came with white rice. Service is pretty good. The waiters are helpful if you have questions. It can get pretty crowded at dinner time, so come a little bit earlier to beat the crowd. There's a decent number of tables inside.
The original pork ribs are definitely a must. Tofu soup was my favorite. Great flavor. I never had ox broth based soup, was a little bland for my liking. I'd skip that and try the pork neck one next time.
you know it's good when almost everyone eating there is Korean! I crave korean food and being from Houston, we don't have that many as Dallas does. Saw on Reddit this place was recommended and omg!!! The seafood pancake was my favorite here and the ribs were so good. The kimchi was also so so yummy. I hate how I really like this place bc it's so far. Wish we had this place back at home!!
Food: My partner and I enjoyed the soups we ordered: Pork Neck Bone and Beef Short Rib. Both were nicely flavored and had a decent serving of meat. To share, we also got the Seafood Pancake, which was pretty hefty! However, it was a bit batter-heavy, which kind of overpowered the seafood taste. The Banchan was standard. Still great overall. Would like to try the Spicy Stir-fried Squid next time! Service: No complaints! We were seated immediately upon walking in, and our orders were taken and food arrived promptly. Virtually no wait on a Wednesday afternoon. Also, two servers constantly checked in on us. Ambiance: Casual. Parking: Ample parking. Located in a plaza. read more

Tried the Korean marinated raw crab -- the meat has this jelly-like texture that just melts in your mouth. Also got the spicy ox rumen, intestine, and shank soup, and the pork neck bone hot pot, which was massive and loaded with potatoes that soaked up all the broth. Garlic pork ribs, seafood pancake, and boiled pork belly with kimchi rounded out the table. Deep, traditional flavors you don't find at typical Korean restaurants. Highly recommend. read more

I always enjoy coming here. I've brought a lot of people to dine here and they always enjoy it! I always order their marinated crabs when it's in season, the spicy stir fried squid, their original house ribs, and seafood pancake! They also have a good pork neck soup! Service is good but food is great! They play nice kpop songs while you eat and they also serve soju. So this place can be very lively depending on the time of day. Came by on a weekday for dinner on a rainy evening and it was not very busy at all. Note that this is a super busy shopping center and on weekends it's very crowded and parking is hard to find. It's a bustling area with grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, and other fun stores. Plan to arrive early or you'll have trouble finding a place to sit or even park. The food came out fresh, quick, and delicious. We tried the ribs, soups, and banchan. I always enjoy the ribs because they are fired with incredible flavor, staying moist and with a slight smokiness. The soups were flavored well and good portions. Because the weather was not very good, we spent a long time eating and chatting. The staff did not try to hurry us out and we felt relaxed and comfortable. The service is friendly without being obtrusive. You will not be waited on, but you'll get what you need by waving down an employee. read more
Went on a late afternoon. Despite it being a weird in-between meal time, the restaurant had quite a few tables going. There was kpop blasting, but the store was pretty well lit and not grime-y. We were seated right away and given banchan (basic, nothing to write home about). We had the pork ribs and the squid stir fry. The pork ribs were served hot and sizzling on a hot iron plate, deliciously charred in some places. I thought it was a tad overcooked, but flavor-wise, there was nothing to complain about. The squid stir fry came atop a portable butane gas burner. The squid was pretty much cooked when it hit the table, but we let it marinate a bit with the veggies. Squid stayed nice and tender, which I appreciated. The spicy sauce was addictive, and I ate way more of the rice than I had planned. read more

The ribs here were super delicious and they give you enough to share between 2-3 people! They even sort of filet the ribs so it's super easy to get the meat. This is their signature dish so must try when you're here! The Ox brisket soup was good but pretty standard to the others I've tried. The service was nice and helpful. The restaurant can get packed very quick on the weekends so try to go during off-peak times or there may be a wait. The restaurant is a little tight but not too bad. read more

Went for weekend lunch. Was seated almost immediately and then the restaurant filled so quickly that if we had come 10 minutes later, we would have waited. Service is quick. Ordered their signature, the original ribs, which were absolutely delicious. It's a large portion. The sauce is like a classic Korean style with a little spice even for the mild option. I had to share with friends and they even requested additional bites despite having their own meals, for which they had seollangtang. They both liked their meal and the soup was rich. The banchan had a nice spread, although the kimchi seemed like it didn't have much time to ferment. This is probably a little more expensive than some of the other options around the area but it's worth it. On the weekends, you pay the dinner price for lunch for their seollangtang. I saw another table's galbijjim order and it looked amazing. Will definitely need to be back! read more
I love Maht Gaek! I'd say their seafood pancake is the best I've had in DFW. It's bigger and has more seafood than other places, and is a little different. Other dishes I'd recommend here are their galbi and budaejiggae (army stew). Both of these are super flavorful and has a ton to eat. I always bring back leftovers for more meals when I come here. I've also tried their pork neck soup, which has a huge stack of meat. It gets pretty messy though since they're all meat on bones, and I personally prefer the army stew flavor. There's typically a wait here, but it's worth! Kalbijjim: I haven't seen another restaurant in the DFW offer this dish with the torched cheese. Slightly pricey $75 but definitely enough for 2-3 people to share. There was potatoes, rice cake, and braised short ribs in it. We loved it! read more

The food here is one of my favorite Korean restaurants. It's very homey and you can taste it in all the dishes. I went with my friends and we got to try the ox knee soup, grilled pork ribs, and tofu soup. Food came out quickly. Loved the broth for both soups but the star was definitely the grilled pork ribs. Well seasoned, perfectly charred, and was amazing with white rice. I am sad they were out of the soy raw marinated crab again but I look forward to trying it one day. read more
Maht Gaek might be my new favorite korean restaurant in Dallas! This Carrollton location is a bit small, but luckily our group arrived earlier to secure a table for dinner. We decided to family style a couple of things to try as their portions are meant for sharing. We got the spicy squid, galbijim, pork ribs, and kimchi jigae/army stew. Every dish was so delicious!! Their galbijim and pork ribs are so tender and full of flavor. I loved eating their spicy squid with rice; the sauce is a good combination of salty, sweet, and slightly spicy. The broth for the army stew was healing. We had 8 people and this was more than enough food for us. Overall, highly recommend visiting Maht Gaek! Bring the family or friends, or enjoy plenty of leftovers to take home! read more

3.5 stars more than 4. I used to come here pretty often but at some point I feel like the quality has been lacking as before so I have updated my star review. The side dishes aren't as fresh as before, not as many options as before either. The cold noodles don't come with slushy broth anymore, the ribs tastes like it was pre cooked then reheated and some pieces were even cold, and the quantity of the ribs are a lot less but prices have increased. Still it's a good overall korean restaurant but unfortunately not as good as it used to be. read more

Wanted to try a different lunch place than the ones we keep visiting when we make a trip into Dallas. Love the Korean food here especially in Carrollton. Don't have that here in Austin so we try to hit our faves when in town. Well Arirang my favorite kimchi dumpling place was closed on Tuesday and it's around the corner so we decided to walk around and see what else there is. Our friend recommended the jambong jajiangmyun place next door actually but we just had song bo sung last night so we decided to see what this place was about. My husband checked out their menu and I looked here online and the reviews were good. We wanted soup and something easy for lunch too so we popped in. The servers were all so nice. Easy simple lunch menu. Prices were decent. Place was kinda busy and it was clean. Seems like they are known for their soups so most of us got their beef soup half got spicy and my husband got his fave soonduboo tofu soup. The sides arrived and they were all tasty and fresh. The soups were all good. I liked mine. Just the right spice. Wished there was more beef balanced with soup but it's ok for lunch. Actually wanted yukjejang which they don't have. The regular gomtang one of my kids got noodles in it the other didn't lol thought that was weird. It was ok like most gomtang you gotta season it yourself well. My husband's tofu soup he says was really good. We enjoyed the meal. It was light. They refilled our panchans kindly and the rice was good too. We were satisfied. If you are looking for a light soupy lunch it's a good spot. It's hard because everything is pretty yummy here. If you have many days in town try them all :) read more
I had heard great things about this place, so I was excited to try it. I shared the Korean army stew with sausage, kimchi hot pot, and ramen with three others, and there was probably enough for four people. Unfortunately, the meal was incredibly salty--so much so that even the ramen was difficult to enjoy. To make matters worse, they never came to refill our water jug or replenish the side dishes. This place has gone from good to completely unacceptable in the span of about 6 months. I used to come semi-regularly, but after my last experiences I'm genuinely warning people to stay away. First, the to-go packaging is criminally negligent. They're using the thinnest, cheapest plastic soup containers you can buy in bulk from a dollar store. I ordered budae jjigae and has leftover to go, it completely collapsed on one side while I was trying to put the cap on the cup, hot soup poured straight down my shirt, all over my pants, socks and shoes. Luckily the broth wasn't boiling-hot this time, had it been properly steaming, I would have had serious burns and probably an ER visit. This is not "oops, cheap container"; this is reckless cost-cutting that puts customers at risk of real injury. I have pictures my soup-soaked clothes. Second, the food itself has fallen off a cliff. The budae jjigae used to be one of the better versions in the area -- rich, spicy, deeply savory, decent amount of meat. Now? It's basically spicy dishwater with a few sad slices of spam and hot dog floating in it. No depth, no umami, barely any gochujang flavor. It tastes like they're stretching the broth with mostly water and a single spoonful of paste. Pathetic. Banchan quality is embarrassing. They're clearly using the bare minimum to fill the little dishes and hoping nobody notices. Prices have not gone down to match the dramatic drop in quality -- they're actually charging the same or more than they did when the food was good. Bottom line: They've chosen the absolute cheapest possible containers, slashed ingredient quality, thinned every broth, and are still happy to take full price from customers. This isn't a "bad day" or "off week" -- it's a deliberate decision to cut every possible corner. If you value your clothing, your skin, and your taste buds, do not come here. There are dozens of better Korean spots in the area that won't try to injure you or serve you sad soup-flavored water. Zero recommendation. Actively avoid. 1 star only because zero isn't an option. read more

Maht Gaek is a hidden gem with delicious Korean food! They have a lot of parking since they are in a plaza, but it does get busy depending on the day. There was a lot of seating area and the restaurant smelled so good once you walk in! They quickly seated us and took our orders. There were a lot of options and we chose the bibimbap stone bowl, spicy ox bone soup, and the pork neck bone soup. I loved the flavor of the pork neck bone soup! The broth was rich and flavorful. The only downside is that the soup does have bone so you have to take the meat off the bone when you eat it. A good alternative is the ox bone soup but it is not as delicious as the pork neck bone soup. There was ample of side dishes and they were not salty at all! I would definitely go again and try their hot pot. read more
Where do I start? First time trying something different then going to a AYCE Korean bbq. This place has a special spot in my soul and my tummy. Let start with the ribs, oh my goodness, the ribs were delicious, it went so well with everything we order. I thought the ribs were not enough, but it was enough, it was savory, sweet and tender. The meat doesn't fall off the bone, but it is well cook. The squid and pork stir fry was amazing! I really enjoy the cooking and eating the dish. The sauce in pork and squid stir fry was fire. It goes with everything. Also, another thing we did was add the second stir fry squid into the pork and squid dish to cook more. We got the beef short rib (galbi) it was sweet and delicious. We order a beef soup as well. We kill that soup and it was so good, it helps switch out the taste bud of the stir fry. All the side dishes or little dishes that comes with the meal were good and refreshing as well. The services was good, they refill our water jug and bought out the food in a orderly manner. The ambiance is so nice, it was cozy and the meal makes it feel like a family eating and cooking together. read more
My friend and I shared the hot stoned bimbibap, the seafood pancake, & the LA galbi. All the food along with the side dishes were delicious and came out quickly after ordering. I also liked how the seafood pancake was crunchy and had a good amount of batter compared to other places I've tried where it was super thin. I also heard the raw marinated crab is delicious so something I would add to the list to try if there's no dietary restrictions! The servers were super sweet by helping us organize the table to provide the most space for us to access all the food easily. The restaurant is spacious and has many different table sizes to accommodate various numbers of parties. read more
