    Free coffee!

Never thought I'd have Korean-style cold noodles THIS GOOD in the US. Wonderful broth, great flavor, and no need to tip either because everything is self serve! The complementary coffee is always a nice bonus after such a filling meal. Beware though, the restaurant does fill up fast closer to dinner! The popularity is deserved, though.

Our first visit here and everything was delicious. Although it's self-service, the hospitality is exceptional. The place has a warm atmosphere that feels just like a family dining room.

Very authentic Korean food. It's been a very long time since I've had authentic cold noodles, so it was really nice to have it again. Everything is very light and refreshing. The galbi was cooked to perfection! Self serve place with lots of offerings. I would definitely come back!

The bone broth!!!! That's all. Seriously though- there are so many options in this plaza, let alone the area. We came here to try the galbi and left with a new go to spot for when winter is coming. The bone broth is sooooo tasty and rich and you can keep getting refills in the corner! Especially good with the rice too. Place was order at the front, grab a buzzer, grab your food when it buzzes, and then have a seat and return your tray. Chopsticks and all that are in a lil drawer at the table. I always love simple self service. The food was delicious and a good portion size for the money.

Rating: 5.5/10 Date Last Visited: 9/12/2025 We ordered the Donkatsu ($16) and Cold Noodle with LA Galbi combo ($26). The galbi was pretty good and came with a decent amount of pieces. The cold noodle is pretty good too, but I'm personally not a fan of it so it didn't mean much to me. The pork cutlet was fried well, but it wasn't very tasty. The curry that came with it also tasted a bit funky and was not very enjoyable. Looking back, the food was a bit pricey for the taste, but the portion sizes were not bad. You order food at the front and pick it up in the back, so they have a no tipping policy, which saves you some money. The place feels like a food court, so it's a nice casual vibe for a casual meal. Overall, I would recommend for those who want some quick casual Korean food and the other restaurants in Carrollton are too packed.

This spot feels like a hidden local gem--everyone dining there was Korean, which added to the authentic vibe. It's self-service, so no tipping is required, which makes the experience even more straightforward. The portions are generous, and the seafood pancake was a standout--crispy, flavorful, and possibly one of the best I've had. I also tried the seolleongtang (ox bone soup), which came with a good amount of tender meat and was pleasantly mild--not overly salty. The spicy cold noodles were another highlight--served authentically with scissors to cut them. The side dishes were fresh and tasty, rounding out the meal nicely. I'll definitely be coming back for more!

Overall: 5/5 Food: 5/5 - I got the mul naengmyeon and my friend got the bibim naengmyeon and the food was very tasty and delicious ! The soup was refreshing and the restaurant has a self serve warm soup which was also delicious ! Value: 5/5 - This place is self serve so there is no tip which I liked ! The total was $15 for the naengmyun which I thought was a great deal ! I would definitely recommend and come back. Service: 5/5 - The employees were friendly and the layout of the restaurant was wide and easy to understand.

Today I tried Hampyong Cold Noodles with my friends. I have had cold noodles before but out of all the places I've tried in DFW, this place is at the top. I like how their cold noodles are a bit thinner and easier to eat. The flavor of the sauce is also delicious. The la galbi was perfectly charred, tender, and juicy. To order here you place your order at the counter and then sit down anywhere. They are self service so you grab your own utensils and waters at the stations. There is also complimentary hot broth at those stations as well. We went here on a Saturday afternoon for dinner and the place was pretty full. It wasn't difficult to find a seat despite being full though. Definitely give this place a try next time you are craving cold noodles!

This is a self-service style Korean restaurant. For those unfamiliar, you order, receive a buzzer, and pick up your food at the counter. Utensils, cold/hot water, napkins, scissors, and even complimentary soup (this soup was amazing with strong notes of ginger) are self-service. Tables have a little drawer with the basic utensils. As it became warmer, my friends and I decided on naengmyun or cold noodles! We all love spicy food, so we each tried a different spicy naengmyun: bibim (includes boiled pork), sokcho kodari (marinated dried pollack - fish), and hwe (raw fish). The wait for the food was not too long ~15min. The portions were huge, and each bowl came with pickled radish. I've had naengmyun many times, but this noodle was very very thin, making it difficult to eat and finish. We personally had to cut up ours with scissors. The flavors of the fish and pork were very good, complimenting the sweeter sauce. However, there just was not enough broth and instead too much sauce, overpowering the dish. It was too concentrated for my taste, rather than refreshing. Perhaps these dishes just were not for us. I would have preferred a noodle with more bite, more broth-less sauce, and colder noodles. I definitely will come back to try other parts of the menu. And maybe the mul naengmyun is more refreshing.

These are the best cold noodles I've tried! Summer is always tough living in Texas, and these noodles are the perfect way to beat the heat. The service was super straightforward and quick, plus there's signs everywhere with instructions to return your own plate so you're not left awkwardly sitting wondering where to go after finishing your meal. The portions are huge so I'll be sure to bring a friend to split the meal with when I return, making this a super budget friendly option. Five starts for the restaurant and one star for myself for not trying it sooner!

    Nangmyun
    Kelly W.

I've been here many times now throughout the years and the quality of the food is always consistent. Nangmyun (냉면) is one of my favorite dishes no matter the season, and the noodles here are always chewy and the broth is flavorful. It's a self service style restaurant, so they take your order when you come in and you pick a seat. You grab your own water (or the free hot broth they provide!) and pick up the food yourself when it's ready. The kalbi I usually order with the noodle combo is also marinated well, juicy and meaty. It can get pretty packed during peak times so make sure to account for that when visiting!

Before the main event, we got the seafood & green onion pancake. Crispy on the outside and reasonably chewy interior. Good amount of seafood; in particular, the oyster stood out. It was also a nice portion that was ideal for sharing. I opted for the seafood soondubu. Everything, from the banchan to the specific side dishes served with the soondubu, came out not too long after ordering. I got it at spice level three which I thought offered the right amount of kick without being too overwhelming (I also like to think I have a pretty strong spice tolerance). It had a good variety of seafood; namely, the shrimp and oyster. I'm not the biggest fan of clams but they were definitely still tasty. The tofu was soft and silky. The yellow croaker and rice were great supplements to the dish. The rice perfectly absorbed the broth. The croaker added a nice crunchy break from everything. The banchan was pretty standard in my opinion - still, a great complement to the soondubu. Last but not least - service was attentive and quick. I will definitely be coming back at some point!

The restaurant had plenty of space, but service was still super fast and efficient anyway, which I loved. What I love about Chodang is that the food is stellar and such good PORTIONS. Knowing this, I still opted to order a Combo Special because the thought of having leftovers for the next day sounded great to me. I ordered the Kimchi Tofu Soup with Beef Bulgogi, and it was delicious. I usually order my soups at the Spicy level, which I would say has a kick and flavor but never leaves me panting for air or water. As someone who likes spice, I wouldn't say it's very spicy, but definitely flavorful. Beef Bulgogi is one of my favorite dishes, and this place's version does not disappoint. The meat is tender and has a good balance of sweet and salty. My friends also ordered Combo Specials with a Tofu soup and the Korean bbq ribs, and Spicy Pork Bulgogi. One of these friends opted for the medium spice level, which I would say is a safe choice for everyone, especially if you're worried about something being too spicy. All soups come with Korean side dishes, a whole grilled yellow croaker fish (delicious but lots of bones), and a hot stone bowl of rice. Nothing missed!
