Well it took me 3 years but I came back. Let's start with the tea, decent sized pot, good pourer. Unfortunately the first cup of tea out of it cleaned the spout, so after observing things floating in that I moved on to the second cup. That had someone else's lipstick print on. The waiter took one cup away, replaced it with a clean cup and said he wasn't here yesterday. OK? He didn't replace the pot or the tea bags and left me with half the quantity of tea I should have had. Decent tasting tea though. Had the green onion pancake beef roll to start, that would have been delicious if only it hadn't been cooked a long while ago. It was barely warm. The dumpling combo did come with the little sauce dish this time, they were hard to eat, the dough was very gluey; did a lot of chewing. We ordered several items, they serve you family style, which is great because we all get to try a bit of everything. I felt like most of the food lacked flavor, lacked salt. The soup dumplings didn't have a lot of soup. They couldn't make the crab & pork dumplings as well as another items that what listed on the menu. Here's what I would recommend: - Bao Buns, filling is a good size & is nit messy, lots of flavor. Buns are soft & pillows. - Scallion pancakes, overall a yes at our table. - General Tso's Chicken (I think this was it), great flavor & not over sauced. The prices are okay, hit & mis where I felt like some were appropriate (dumplings) & others were a bit more pricey (bok choy)... it all seemed to average out. This place is more like a 3.75 out of 5 stars. i saw this place on instagram, and people were comparing it against DTF...Din Tai Fung. Honestly, i can see why, but its very very hard to beat DTF in the XLB game. We ended up getting some pan fried dumplings, spicy noodles, XLB and dan dan noodles. all were great and delicious, would recommend getting these items if you're coming here for the first time. Service was just alright. It took a while to flag down people for water and or check. I wish I could say the reels knew something we didn't. Unfortunately, dinner was mostly a case of expectations arriving before the food did. Everything was just... okay. The flavors were surprisingly bland, the ingredients didn't taste especially fresh, and nothing really stood out. My husband enjoyed the hot sour soup, which was probably the strongest item of the night. The rest ranged from fine to forgettable. To be clear, nothing was awful. It just wasn't particularly good, either--which is a slightly awkward place for a restaurant that seems to have achieved social-media legend status. Maybe we caught them on an off night. I left a 5 star review last time because I got the beef potstickers and they were amazing. I went back for my birthday and they didn't taste or look the same at all. They tasted exactly like pork. I tried my mom's pork dumplings to compare, which originally came out to the table with an ant on the basket, and they tasted the same as hers. I kept asking the waitress to check because I was very certain at that point that they'd given me pork and she insisted it was beef. Didn't taste or look like beef, and didn't taste or look anything like the last time I got them. Also my dad got the chicken with noodles which was good but there was a big sharp piece of bone in there that I bit into. I probably wouldn't order them again. The noodles were fantastic though. I also got to try the Cantonese rice noodles from the person I was with, and those were also fantastic. Great experience. Great decor. Had Chicken in garlic sauce. Good size portion. Oddly charge for rice, but only $1. No biggie. Also had Kung Poa Chicken. Veggies cut in cubes and still crunchy. Hot/sour Soup also very good.. Only hold back was garlic. Chicken could have used more vegetables. Waitress advised we could have ordered to add broccoli or other vegetables. First time. Service was responsive. Came to try the "Szechuan Boiled Fish," which is my fav. But actually, I tried the "Sliced Fish in Spicy Oil." Both are similar $26 fish soups. Should've done a side-by-side, but it was only me. Lol. The fish was exquisite. The heat was also good. This dish pairs really well with rice; I also enjoy taking the leftovers home, letting them sit overnight in the fridge, and enjoying with more rice. Mmm! But I am from out of town and was alone, so I ate it all there. They don't have WiFi, but there was some "guest Frontier" WiFi that was good for an hour. (And you can refresh it each hour.) Next time, I would try the "Szechuan Boiled Fish." Or if that's too much, the Mapo Tofu. The packaging was subpar because the chilly oil leaked from the bag and got all over my car. All the dishes were delicious though. Tried Noodle Works for the first time, after hearing about it on social media. I placed an online order for the two chicken egg rolls, Spicy chili wontons, general Tso chicken and an order of fried rice flat noodles. All the food was on the expensive side, but I heard it was good, so I didn't mine. One of the first thing I noticed was the entrees do not come with rice. There is a $1 up charge for white rice and $3 for fried rice, $5 for noodles. I have never experienced a Chinese restaurant that charged for white rice with an entree (not even PF Chang). I arrived 10 minutes after the time I was told my food would be ready. I checked in at the register and was told it would be another 5 minutes. I was told to have a seat and wait. Since there is no place to sit when waiting for a take out order, I sat down in the closet booth next to the register. After about 1 minute, a very rude lady came over in broken English and screamed that I could not sit there. I told her I was waiting on a to-go order and she just kept screaming "you don't can sit there", so I got up and stood by the front door. If my food had not already been paid for, I would have left after that rude encounter. The ambiance of the restaurant is very strange as they had a boombox loudly playing 80s music. It was so load, I felt bad for the customers who were eating at there. No way you could enjoy siting there listening to the annoying loud music while you ate. About 5 minutes later (15 minutes past the time they originally told me it would be ready) my food was ready. The food did come out very hot. I retrieved my food and took it home to enjoy. Overall the food is very basic and not worth the elevated price. The egg rolls were over fried and greasy. The spicy wonton were very bland and not spicy at all. The general Tso chicken was not good. Very small pieces of chicken, over breaded and a bland sauce. Again not spicy at all. The fried flat rice noodles were the biggest disappointment. Mushy noodles that were all stuck together. Not good at all. Overall the Noodle Works was a big disappointment. There are so many better option in the area (Dragon House or the Wok). Do yourself a favor and skip the rude staff Noodle Works. read more

It's not the best I've had but it's ok. I thought all the dishes were a bit greasy and lack an important ingredient-salt. Which is why I gave it 3 stars. It's in a convenient location so in a pinch I'd eat it again. I really wish Howard Wangs was still in Southlake because they were always consistently good. I'd say that dragon house is much better on flavor so I'd probably recommend them over this place. Service was only ok- the waitress seemed like she did not want to be there. Overpriced and revolting food! Ordered to go food for our first trip and decided on the chef's special sizzling beef. It was horrible and ridiculously overpriced. Although the beef was tender it was ruined by the cooks dumping loads of black pepper flakes into the sauce. I've eaten food from Chinese restaurants from New York City to San Francisco and am an excellent judge of a good dish (or a bad one) and this was not a good dish. Look at this photo compared to the picture online - online no pepper and beef in a golden hued brown sauce. In real life, a middling soy sauce base that cannot even be tasted because the cook threw about two tablespoons of black pepper in it. To be clear, I can handle spicy food and this black pepper doesn't even register as spicy. Just as peppery and a very boring flavor. To make matters worse, Noodle Works was stingy with adding vegetables and they charge extra for rice. I know Southlake is pricey, but this is just ridiculous. I walked in to pick up our food and it just looks like a mediocre Chinese restaurant so it's not like the ambience is anything special. It's also annoying that they advertise softened water as if that justifies the high prices they're charging for horrendous food. We had to throw this out after sampling it because who in their right mind would be happy to eat this garbage covered in black pepper? The Panda Express across the street looks practically gourmet by comparison! read more

I added a picture of the noodles as compared to a fork, the noodles are thick, more spaghetti like in size if you like a heavier noodle. The restaurant is nice and clean my only recommendation would be for the service staff, while they are not rude they do rush and come off a pushy. For example as soon as you sit you're asked if ready to order, the waiter opens your menu, points and gives you a hurry up feeling, then as soon as you take your last bite there is check with a muffled "thank you" which really seems like bye and leave. We could tell it sat a while. The broccoli was cold and the chicken sauce was congealed and barely warm. It was just an ok dish. There were 3 of us and we ordered 3 items and didn't finish anything. Our waiter brought our check. My husband gave him his credit card. He returned with the ti key only to charge 90+ instead of $45. We asked a waitress to have him come back. She did. When grading this restaurant, I can hear the alphabet song playing in the background. Everything from A-F can and will apply. The restaurant is clean, modern and attractive. It's easy to find, and there is plenty of parking. No one who serves you will speak English very well - which, can become a problem if you have questions. Like many ethic eateries, you have to be careful about what you order. Beef flat noodles, wontons in chili sauce, any fish entree is solid, A+ stuff. Simple things like char siu bao (mushy, almost watery and bland), green onion pancakes (gummy and oily) are ghastly. If you're a dumpling fan, I hope you like dough. The skins are very thick and chewy, but the fillings are delicious. Again, just wildly inconsistent. Esoteric items like Szechuan fish soup are, imo, world class. Phenomenal spicy cumin lamb ... who knows how to cook lamb right? Well, they do. But ... their white rice was undercooked and tasted like it had been made yesterday - I couldn't eat it. Eating there is a bizarre multi-tiered experience. I give Noodleworks three stars because some items were five star and some should get dead zeros. read more

Had a beef a mushroom dish that was very tender , rice prepared well and overall flavorful. Soup I had was good, egg drop, and I everything tasted fresh. I'll be back to try other dishes. This category is lacking imo out this way, so a good and reliable Chinese dish here will be welcomed to me.
