    Red curry with pork
    Jingyan Y.

A new Thai place in town that opened just 4 months ago! The owner has had decades of experience in Thai cuisine and has decided to make his own restaurant. The owner is friendly and the food is outstanding! I had the red curry, green curry, and the veggie spring rolls which I added pork to. The curries were very flavorful and the portion was large, especially given the very fair price (~$13). You can eat inside the food hall or take it to go. There is a parking lot right next door. 10/10 would recommend!

What a great little surprise! Stopped into Zaep Zaep Thai after getting a card on my door. Didn't even know it was there. It's at the front of the food hall at 216 Oak St in Roanoke. Yay, the owner, was super welcoming and friendly. I got the red curry which was delicious with a lot of fresh crispy vegetables and a great portion of chicken. Everything tasted super fresh and he cooks all the dishes without MSG. Since I was a first time customer he let me sample the egg rolls, which I have to say are some of the best I've had anywhere. I would go back just for those! It's not a fancy place by any stretch. As I said it's in a food hall, but there's plenty of places to sit inside or outside. Yay is from Laos and will be adding Spicy Lao sausage to the menu, which I can't wait for. I'll definitely be going back to try some different dishes very soon and recommend you check them out too!

Authentic Thai/Nepali food! The best spring rolls I've ever had! The Momo Veg so deliciously different. Great service and friendly staff.

Last-minute girls' night and all we knew was... we wanted noodles. We ended up at Malai Kitchen,…read moreand I'm so glad we did. This wasn't our first time here, and every visit has been consistently great. The hostess is always so friendly and welcoming, which honestly sets the tone right away. We ordered drinks and an appetizer, and I was fully planning to get my usual pad Thai. But our waitress suggested I switch it up and try the drunken noodles with tofu (I'm vegetarian), and I'm so glad I listened. I got it extra spicy, and it was SO good. Like... I don't even know if I can go back to pad Thai now. One of my favorite things about this place is how many vegetarian options they have - and not just basic ones. Everything is flavorful and feels intentional, not like an afterthought. The whole vibe is kind of Asian fusion, so it's a fun mix of flavors, and everything we've tried has been solid. Great service, great food, and just an overall good experience every time. Definitely a 10/10 for me.

The food... well let's just say I grew up eating Vietnamese and Thai food and if I brought my family here, they would wonder why we would be the only Asians eating there. If you've never tried it... you def should... if you grew up eating food from these countries, you'd understand how I feel.

The staff were helpful and pleasant. We were offered a Happy hour menu which included cocktails (perfectly prepared and a great value!) as well as a special menu for the day. Their regular menu is so extensive that it was hard to decide so we sought professional help! Guided perfectly! Yuzu chicken with broccoli was so good and the Khao Soi with chicken - Thai northern-style egg noodle in "khao-soi" curry, pickled cabbage, red onions, scallions, roasted chilies, and crispy egg noodle - can you tell I loved this? To finish we tried the Banana Bombay - like a bananas foster but you can choose your type of house made ice cream. So great!!!!

First things first: Booths, padded seats, coke products and a full bar + mocktails (whatever those are :) They didn't skimp on decor. I appreciated the painted and wooded ceiling, lovely lighting and fans and tasteful wallpaper. But here's what you don't see every day (even in fine dining places) substantial glasses and silverware (heavy) along with fresh flowers and of course linen napkins. I didn't even realize I was missing those things! Food (let me start out with, I'm a sauce girl and I loved their sauces-both in taste and in quantity)! They give it all to you. Pot stickers in a bowl of sauce and there's crunchy on the crunchy---while laying in a scrumptious salty sauce. Cashew chicken had sooo many cashews (the perfect amount), well-cooked chicken, lots of veggies. I went mild and my husband's dish was medium spice and there was a BIG difference but as long as they're consistent, I'm good. This was my 1st time so TBD. Dessert: Warm sticky rice with mango and even though it doesn't need it (but I LOVED it) more coconut sauce on the side! The coconut ice cream was thick and creamy with coconut shavings mixed in. It's everything a dessert should be; fruity and fresh, creamy and cold, sticky and warm ---every bite is better than the last one! Service: Our server, Juan was fabulous! He anticipated our needs and made sure we had everything we needed and more. The price didn't break the bank (very fair) and the menu has a TON of variety from all regions of Thailand. This is the real deal.
