They brought out what looked like a small fish tank with a handle! I only ordered one... and yes, I definitely finished it. No regrets! Great food, generous portions, and a fun atmosphere. Since I had driven out of my way, I moved to the other side and decided to stay. The shrimp tempura was the best part, crispy and well-fried, though only served with soy sauce. The spicy tonkotsu ramen was underwhelming with mild spice, bland broth and not very hot. The spicy mazemen was terrible, extremely salty and barely edible. I had to mix tonkotsu broth just to be able to water down the salt. Also, both of the dishes do not come with protein so you gotta add it separately. Overall, between the smell and disappointing ramen, I would not return.

I skipped an appetizer since they did not have agedashi tofu on the menu, which was a bummer. For my entrée, I ordered the miso chicken ramen. A huge plus is the pricing because the ramen comes fully loaded with a seasoned egg and traditional toppings included, making it a great value compared to spots that charge for extras. The flavor itself was a bit underwhelming, though. The broth was very dark brown and lacked both the distinct miso richness and the expected spicy kick. That said, the service was straightforward, and the space is well designed with nice seating for small groups of 4 or 6. Overall, it is a decent, budget friendly option for ramen in town.

Back from Japan and craving Ramen we started the hunt for a local spot today…read more The service was excellent and the restaurant itself had a nice ambiance. Gyoza to start that were nice and crispy, could have done with more than the teaspoonful of sauce we were given though. Maximum tea points, hot green tea that tasted delicious and was served in the cutest little pot I've seen in a while. It was a terrible pourer though, but the waiter warned me and put some napkins on the table to clean up. The ramen was quite disappointing, I know how spoiled I currently am with the memory of Ichibahn burned into my brain, but...these were quite pricey and not that good. The broth was lightly flavored with little depth, the beansprouts and corn (why are these in my ramen?) Moved the flavour profile even brighter and there was quite a lot of green onion. With a $5 add on for 2 small slices of extra pork that's a $20 bowl. So yes, 3 stars. They have bottled Kirin so I might be back, but I will be exploring the other menu items.

The broth and flavors were great, actually on par with just about any other ramen I've had. I liked at the menu picture and argued if I wanted an extra egg or pork. As it turns out should have ordered a little extra of both. The pork was two tiny pieces, at most other ramen huts it would be about half a piece. I did order an extra egg, the menu picture showed two halves so thought I would get two eggs, trying to add some protein to the meal. I ended up with one egg vice two. Overall not very filling, but the flavor was amazing. If you are looking for a well made ramen with an exceptional broth then this will be your place. If you're looking to fill up I'd figure out your order to ensure that happens.

It truly is all that. I read somewhere else that Keiichi truly shines with their appetizers, and I must concur. We ordered four apps, but our absolute favorites were: - Beef and Jalapeño Cream Cheese Roll: Please do not be deterred by the cream cheese. It was tastefully added and wasn't overwhelming at all. Also, that beef? DIVINE. -Marinated Tuna with Fresh Guacamole: An unlikely combination that constantly proves it deserves to be put together. Each bite was a flavor bomb in your mouth. We also got the Tasmanian Sea Trout and the Baby Yellowtail Carpaccio. They were very good, but nothing you can't have at another fancy sushi restaurant. We ordered three nigiris: * Squid * Scallop * Eel All very good, but again, nothing you can't have at another fancy sushi restaurant with quality fish. We didn't order classics like salmon and yellowtail because we'd already had them in our appetizers. The beef miso soup was also delectable. We didn't care as much for the beef by the end of the soup, so we'd probably just get the regular miso soup next time. For our entrée, we ordered the mushroom risotto to share. The risotto was definitely some of the best we've had in Dallas. Iirc, monarch has our favorite risotto. This was close to it. And I say this as someone who doesn't like mushrooms very much. Something we'd like to try next time: - Spicy Tuna Tartare Finally - dessert. We ordered a tiramisu and shared it with two strangers seated beside us. They ordered the green tea tiramisu and shared that with us. We enjoyed both variants. My wife and the other couple felt the traditional tiramisu lacked espresso, so that would be the one change they'd prefer. I found it good as is. So there you have it - that's the food. But that's only one part of the experience. The other part is snagging a reservation! I first tried securing a reservation back in October 2024 but was unsuccessful. I tried again in October 2025 and was finally able to snag a reservation for September 2026. So this dining experience was 2 years in the making! I can see why reservations sell out so quickly though. The chef can only accommodate 10 seats per seating and is only open a few days of the week. Furthermore, he has a dedicated fan following. Of which, my wife and I will proudly be a part of. Food and reservations are two parts of a three piece puzzle, though. For us, the third and final piece was the people we dined with. They were all incredibly kind, vocal, and passionate foodies. Everyone loved food and wanted to tell the others what they'd ordered and how much they enjoyed it. Because of that, a lot of us ended up ordering things the others recommended and were blown away each time. All that led to some interesting banter and very insightful and engaging conversations. I'm very happy we were able to get a reservation and were seated with such great people. I look forward to coming again, should we be lucky enough to secure a reservation in time.

I am officially calling off the hunt for a table at Keiichi…read more I literally pass by this place 2X a day, yet trying to snag one of its supposed 10 seats has become an exercise in absurdity. Today is October 1st, the one magical day of the year when reservations allegedly open up, only to be completely booked for the entire year within a week. To make matters worse, no one is answering the telephone today, and the voicemail box is already full--talk about arrogance... At this point? I'm letting go of the chase, and frankly, I feel relieved. Here is why: *The Vibe & The Chef: Working within walking distance, the overall feel of the place just doesn't live up to the hype. I've run into the chef at the local "Murder Kroger" on more than one occasion, and "rude" is an understatement. If that's the demeanor extended to neighbors, I have zero desire to sit at his counter. *Sanitation & Safety Concerns: Knowing it's a one-man operation, I genuinely question the health, sanitation, and food safety handling here. Honestly, several Denton restaurants could use a visit from Marvin Zindler to check for "slime in the ice machine" --iykyk. Think about it: when we were younger, dirt pies were yummy, and an Easy-Bake Oven (in our bedrooms) did the trick! *Overpriced & Overrated: A quick scroll through other Yelpers confirms what I've suspected for a while: the experience is vastly overpriced for what you actually get. *The "Lisa C." Mystery: Shaking my head at Yelper Lisa C., who has left so many glowing reviews here that I'm convinced she must hold an ownership stake in the business. I actually reached out to her directly to get an honest take, and even she gave me a bizarrely vague response despite her constant visits. *Lack of "Color": I'll just leave this right here... I've successfully acquired far more elusive tables at world-renowned restaurants across the country. Hard-to-get reservations aren't new to me, but they have to be worth the reward. Watching this place daily, reading the experiences of others, and dealing with the gatekeeping around a 10-seat dining room has made one thing clear: Keiichi simply isn't worth the hassle. I'll let someone else play the annual reservation lottery.
