I don't think I've ever left a 1-star review before, but this place truly earned it. If you look at my review history, you'll see this isn't something I normally do. This was actually my second visit, because I wanted to give them another chance after a disappointing first experience. Unfortunately, the second visit was even worse. We came with friends and family expecting a fun hibachi dinner, but from the moment we sat down we felt rushed. The staff hurried us through the entire meal instead of letting us relax and enjoy the experience. The service was poor, and the food was disappointing as well. It simply wasn't good, especially considering the price. Hibachi is supposed to be an enjoyable dining experience where you can spend time with the people you're with--not feel like you're being rushed out the door. I really wanted this second visit to change my opinion, but it did the opposite. I left more disappointed than the first time, and unfortunately I won't be returning or recommending this restaurant. read more

Truly excellent staff, delicious food, generous portions, and fair prices. This little gem of a restaurant should not be missed. We rolled in with 24 people for the full hibachi experience and we were NOT disappointed. Fire, ice, onion choo-choo train, the works. It was super-fun and also delicious. The staff made all the graduates in our party feel extra-special by breaking out the Japanese gong and drum, and then even lollipops. We had hibachi, but this menu is extensive and innovative. Food was AMAZING, the variations of sushi they have are incredible. The service was good, but they are understaffed and confusion occurred with out order. My daughter can't have tempura, most items call it out easily, but we had to reorder due to a bad description and then it took 30 minutes to get it replaced and I could tell they were annoyed. Food is great, but service is "meh" due to too few staff and ordering issues. It was very warm in the restaurant the day we went, so they need to look into resolving that. read more

Wish I could rate lower. We ordered takeout and went to the restaurant when it should have been ready. It wasn't ready, but being Mother's Day we expected more of a wait. 45 minutes later still no food. People had come and gone in the meantime with incorrect orders or just abandoning orders. The staffing was sparse, and when we asked a girl "working" there to please cancel our order (they said there were 3 more orders to be prepared before ours) she said "I don't even work here". Then we asked someone else who said they can't refund online orders because it's through a 3rd party, yet the 3rd party states to contact the restaurant. We left with no food and no refund, and now have to handle this through our bank. read more

Waited about 10mins to be seated in a semi-empty restaurant. Then after have the whole staff looked at me and my party of 4 we were finally seated after the manager I presume came out. The food was okay, nothing to run home to as it was just as good as the Kroger sushi next door, hell the Kroger sushi is a better bang for your buck too. The restaurant was nice and the atmosphere was pleasant, but the lack of service and the price at the end did not help. Honestly I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone that I know as I myself probably won't be returning to this place because sadly this was a place I went to all the time but after my recent visit, I'm not sure I'll be back. read more

I have been coming for many years, but the last couple of months the service has gotten worse. I just thought I came on a bad day but this was the third time and this was the worse. It started when I can in and I told them how many for Hibachi. They told me 15 minutes. No problem but several parties came in for sushi and then 2 more parties came in for Hibachi. He asked me again how many in my party which I told him. He told me it would be a half an hour when the he told the other parties only 5 minutes. I told him I had been here waiting and the other parties told him the same thing. He said ok your next, 5 minutes. He comes back and sits one of the parties and then he can back and started to sit the second party when they told him that we were already here waiting and he said we were next. So he had forgotten many times. Then the server comes and takes are drink and order. He comes back and gives us our drinks, soup, and salads. The next time I see him is when he brings the check. I was missing food and never had a refill. He tills me that the tip was already included. I told him why do you get a tip since you did nothing. I told him that the tip should goto the cook as the food was excellent and your service was horrible. Never got a refill and my son was missing his order. Even the chef knew there was a problem. I don't think I will come back again.... Very disappointed. read more

Not at all what I expected. The dinning area is pretty. The ladies restrooms are mighty impressive. They have areas for men and woman to make diaper changes for their children. This was actually the only thing I found good about this place. The bathrooms are super clean! Oh and the pretty tables and seating. I was exploring the area (Argyle, Bartonville, and Lantana) and this was all I could find that might have sushi. I love Sushi! Not impressed. The food was gosh awful. The taste was really off! I almost never leave food, but this time I did. I left the majority of my sushi rolls. (Not after first destroying them so they couldn't put them on someone else's plate). Service wasn't any better. Found this little spot very near the Argyle home. Exciting because... it was pretty good. I went alone so I shimmied to the sushi bar. I had the Ahi Tower, Ikura, yellow tail and smoked salmon nigiri. The most pleasant surprise was the rice! The sushi rice actually had flavor! Sushi chef Pat, who was very attentive, said he made the rice himself. Sushi rice is the heart of nigiri and rolls and far too often the rice just has no flavor. This time was delightfully different. The fish was okay. The smoked salmon was very tasty. The yellowtail wasn't fresh, a fact verified by the lack of robust flavor. The ikura was very tasty as well. The Ahi Tower could have use more Ahi and less rice. Oh yes, I thought the prices were a bit elevated. All in all. I will be back. After all, I've gotta' try the hibachi, don't I? read more

Visited yesterday (SAT) for the first time, for hibachi grill around 2:30 PM. My seat was dirty; 3 nickle-sized pieces of food on it. Staff member who seated us apologized that the night staff didn't do a good job cleaning. The floor around the hibachi grill was dirty. The area to place plates on around the grill was dirty; very visible 3" sticky substance right next to where staff placed my menu. We walked out immediately. Never going back. read more

I have no idea how this place doesn't have a 5.0 rating!!! This is my families favorite restaurant to go to! Amazing food and a show, how could you want anything more? I haven't found better sushi or hibachi than this place and have stopped looking since nowhere has come close to Tokyo Samurai! Give it a try and I promise you will not be disappointed. I do recommend that if you plan to go during rush hour eating times to call ahead and make a reservation, since I have done that every time we have dined with them I have had no issues whatsoever with getting to sit at the hibachi table! Small neighborhood hibachi that has wonderful hibachi food. Everything tasted great. The scallops and mignonette were tender and flavorful. Their fried rice was delicious. My favorite was the gyozas/dumplings. Tender and packed with flavor and a fantastic dipping sauce. Yum yum sauce was the best I've had. So good. Highly recommend this place. My boyfriend and I absolutely love Tokyo Samurai-- so much so it's become a staple in our relationship. We absolutely adore their fried rice and garlic edamame. We've never had a bad experience and the service has always been excellent. We've never had an empty glass of water or waited long for our food. This is a frequent spot for my family given the proximity to Lantana. The specialty rolls are tasty and the Hibachi is about par for the course. Tonight we had takeout a la covid... Quality was as expected. However we were shorted a roll (a 16 dollar roll). We called to ask for a refund for the one roll and were basically told that they triple check their orders and they doubt the mistake happened, but they'll make another roll for us. I didn't appreciate the reluctance to admit error, lack of apology for the inconvenience, or the owner's inflexibility and limited options in reconciling the situation. The individual on the phone even suggested I check the order before leaving next time (you bet! I'll unpack 160 bucks worth of food on your counter, ha!). tl;dr good food poor service. Take the extra ten minutes and drive to another sushi joint. Happy eating!!! read more

The hibachi was good but honestly I think I am crazy for staying to try the food. Immediately upon walking in the floor looked like it had never met a broom and the walls looked like they were painted with grease alone. The women's restroom was atrocious and the air was sticky. The salad dressing was separated so I didn't try it. The hibachi meat was good and soup was fine. The veggies were cut very uneven so some were crisp and others were super thin and mushy...which I can get past but I can't get past the cleanliness of the restaurant. It wasn't busy when we went so I am not sure why no one felt the need to clean. I don't think I will be back because of that alone. read more

Did we just ate hibachi here and it was absolutely amazing. Sung was our chef, and we will be requesting him from here on out. Sushi is phenomenal here as well. (We've ordered both).
