My husband decided to surprise me with random valentines plans and while I normally wouldn't go out on this holiday, I'm so glad we did! We got there early but the staff had us seated in no time. The food was amazing, though we made sure to switch things up and get things we hadn't had the last time we came. Mainly wanted to post this because our waiter, Jase (sorry if misspelled! We had never been to this restaurant and we've been wanting to go for awhile and we finally had the time to go in. The minute you walk in you see the hostess who was very accommodating and very friendly. She was amazing!! I mentioned that I had food allergies and she made the point to go and ask the chef and their sister restaurant around the corner about the certain dishes that I was thinking of ordering. Checked this place out after hanging out around the square. The restaurant itself kind of reminded me a small french bistro with its slightly dimmed cozy interior, chill atmoshpere, and bar setup. There was just one server working at the time and it started getting busy but still received great service throughout our visit. I was a bit skeptical about the food quality since it seemed like a little more upscale to the places I'm used to with this type of cuisine but that doubt was gone after our food came out. Loved our experience on New Year's Eve. Our waitress was fantastic, while handling the entire intimate space. Her recommendations of the Thai Duck noodles was spot on. Thin noodles, great spice, and delicious. Everything we ordered was tasty including a unique curry pot pie. Recommend the mussels. I wish there was some kind of sauce with it. It was rather dry. Duck breast was well cooked and thinly sliced, was easy to eat. Veggies were delicious. To say we were happy with our experience would be a massive understatement. I originally made a 12 top reservation that turned into a 27 person surprise birthday celebration. Coming from being a catering manager myself, planning a private event with PJ was easy and fun! She even worked with me on my budget and was accommodating in every aspect. She was truly a sparkling delight to work with and made me, our guests, and the birthday boy feel extremely special. The menu, served family style, was comforting and delicious. My wife and I went out on a date and decided (after reading reviews) to have dinner here. It's located of the Denton Square, fairly easy to get to, and as long as a short walk is not a problem, parking is plentiful. The interior of the restaurant is really neat, with people watching bar style seating looking out to the street. But don't worry, there are also more traditional seating options if staring at folks walking past the restaurant is not your thing. We were greeted by a very friendly face after a very short wait at the entrance. She seated us very efficiently, and it turns out she was also our server. As we decided to peruse the menu, I immediately noticed that we had to scan a QR code in order to look at the menu. I am not a big fan of this, mainly because, well, I am not. I like looking at every aspect of a menu, particularly when I know the food is fantastic and the joy of not knowing which item I'm going to order gives me a kind of high. Also, I am an old bastard and can't see the menu My wife, after a little complaining (by yours trully), asked our server if there were any traditional menus (never thought I would be calling them that), and she kindly got me one! Now, for the most important part: The Food. For starters, I ordered a Beer, and my wife ordered a Saki Screwdriver. The beer, pretty standard, I'm not going to waste time on that, but the sake screwdriver was interesting. I'm not a fan of screwdrivers, so I would have never ordered one. But my wife thought it differently and took the leap. She wasn't too impressed, and neither was I. Personally, I feel it wasn't something down our alley to begin with, so I'm not sure our opinion should carry a lot of weight. As an appetizer, we started with the spicy edamame. Now I am sorta known for NOT liking spicy food, but several reviewers raved about them, and I am sure glad they did. If that was the only thing I had that day, it would have been a win. They were AWESOME! And I highly recommend it. The spicy level and flavor profile were perfect! Now, for the main course, I had the whole roasted Branzino. All I can say is, wow. Fish was cooked to perfection, and the flavor was so delicate. The Thai lime garlic cilantro sauce was the perfect complement for the fish and the steamed rice. I also liked that the fish was served whole, so I could enjoy the cheeks and the eyes (yum!). I know it's not for everyone, but it was definitely for me. My wife, on the other hand, ordered the Thai duck street noodles. The duck was tasty and overall a well put together dish that she enjoyed! Do I recommend this place? Yes. But why the 3 stars you may ask...well, the ever increasing plague that seems to be affecting all industries lately. The service was just enough to be acceptable. But as an 18-year veteran of the service industry, I blame the owners. They fail to teach proper (basic) food service protocol and eitichete. Our waters (carafe) were not re-filled. We were never asked if we wanted another beverage. My wife was asked if she wanted a to-go container while I was still clearly eating my plate. Then, to add insult to injury, the server dropped the check (a lone printed piece of paper) on my wife's side of the table even as I attempted to tell her I wanted it and I WAS STILL EATING. This place isn't cheap, and actually not too expensive, but the servers are leaving a lot of money on the table by not doing their job correctly. She could have easily added 2 more adult beverages and a dessert or two to the tab if only she knew how to do it. Let me be clear, she was very nice, but either she was new in the service industry or wasn't trained properly by the owner, and that does a disservice to everyone. So, in conclusion, go eat here. It's awesome, but don't expect proper service matching the price and quality of the food, and you'll be fine! read more

We love Taan Eatery. The food is speculative and the atmosphere is very pleasant. Perfect for a date night or prior to a Campus Theater performance. We've had the Teriyaki salmon, the Chicken Pot Pie and the Shrimp with scallops. All of them were incredibly good. Our friend had the Mussels and he really enjoyed them. The waitstaff is very nice and pleasant. The low lighting is nice and romantic along with the hard wood floors and exposed brick make the experience very enjoyable. This is a great find. read more
