I've had this place on my list to try for the longest time and I finally made my way to the restaurant. I've been back three times since trying it because it was so amazing! I have a gluten allergy and this place is so amazing with accommodating it. They have gluten free soy sauce for a lot of the recipes that require it. I'll be honest I get the pad Thai every single time I've gone but I have taken several people and they have tried various things on the menu and have had nothing but praise for the meals they ordered. I've also indulged in their macaron sandwiches that they have which, while pricy, are so worth it! The strawberry cheesecake is gluten free and so delicious. Definitely found some delicious Thai food at Royal Yum. The menu was full of dishes to choose from it was hard to narrow it down. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we ordered so much. I loved the concept of the curry sampler. They had so many different options and I'm glad we got to try a couple of them. Each curry was good. Full of flavor and loads of chicken and veggies. I loved the crab fried rice. The sweet pieces of crab went perfectly with the savory fried rice. My nephew loved everything they put on the table but he inhaled the popcorn chicken and the curry sampler. Customer service was great and all our questions were answered. Visited from out of town and wanted a quick lunch. What drew me to the place were the positive reviews and the photos of the food. However, I was very disappointed. I'm almost certain they use can curry paste. My first taste of the curry, tasted like the Massaman curry I make at home. The waiter asked what spice level and I ordered medium and my brother ordered the highest spice level and it didn't have any heat to it, which makes me further believe it's not custom made. My beef on the Pad Thai was overcooked and very tough, I regretted getting that as my protein. The hot peanut butter dressing was very strange and made the salad heavy since it was really thick. The egg roll tasted store bought. The sweet sauce that comes with the egg rolls and the appetizer did not complement the food. Nothing was really outstanding besides the crispy basil chicken. I love that they put the rice in a cat mold, it makes it fun and does set them apart from a lot of other places. The three flavor chicken was good, the chicken was still very moist and had a flavorful sauce to it. Service was attentive and we always had our waters filled. The price point for lunch is reasonable for the amount of food. Our food came out fairly quick. The restaurant was very clean and roomy. I was very impressed! The location has fun, welcoming decor and a good ampunt of space. Our server was exceptional, very friendly and attentive. We ordered a couple ofappetizers for the table, and we highly recommend the wanton nachos. It sounds odd, but tastes great! I got a tofu dish with peanut sauce and it was very good! I've tried every curry and I can't choose a favorite: and they don't make you choose, offering a curry trio that lasts me at least a second meal. Thai food is always on the top of our list when considering food, this place was recommended during our visit in Denton. They have a wide variety of dishes, but I opted for the curry sampler (red, green, and panang) and the Beijing duck. I really enjoyed having multiple curries to try, however there wasn't much distinct differences besides having different veggies and meat. The duck was decent, I've definitely had better but it was crunchy and well sauced. The indoor decor was nice but a bit cluttered, and the service was meh, they were busy but they lacked the staff to handle the service. We were looking for something a little different and came in on a Friday afternoon! Very good Thai food with an extensive menu.. my hubby had a severe nut allergy so it's not a cuisine we've tried before. After sharing this information with our wait person, she led us down the adventure! We started with crab Rangoon and bang bang shrimp and a couple of Thai beers. My hubby got shrimp chow mein level 3 spicy and I got Bejing Duck level 5 spicy. The appetizers hit the table and we were off! The Rangoon were good and I normally don't care for all that cream cheese. You could tell they were freshly made. The bang bang shrimp were also tasty covered in a sweet sauce. Truthfully, I was full after that and then the entrees hit! My duck was sliced and battered in a dark sauce surrounded by broccoli and other vegetables. I chose fried rice as my side and I got a small spring roll that I didn't even touch! The complimentary soup was also great! Sort of like egg drop but better and fresh! I ended up wrapping my duck in lettuce leaves and dipping them in the sauce. My hubby's chow mein was soft, you can get crispy. He liked it and would ask for half crispy next time to add some texture. Neither dish was very spicy and I found all the sauces to be a little sweet. However, all dishes were good. Next time, I think I'd try the beef salad, lard gai (minced chicken) or a salmon dish. I'd also try more Thai appetizers instead of the Rangoon. It satisfied our craving for something different. Good lunch spot. Lovely decor, parking surrounds the building and it's easy to get to. Food is 3-4 stars in flavor. I asked for a 4/5 heat and it was not spicy AT ALL but flavor was good . The lunch menu was nice, you get a soup or salad with your meal, I chose the salad, which was about four bites worth, very small. Drink refills were hard to get, I had to ask several times. Sodas are brought by the bottle with a glass of ice. I land closer to 3 stars for so-so service and no heat food prep but going to round up since the flavors are still good with plenty of seating. Would recommend more lettuce for the starter salad and staff training on replenishing drinks. read more

I noticed Royal YUM a couple of weeks ago, while running errands in Denton. Of course I checked Yelp, because I love Thai. It had a very high score, so when I scheduled lunch with a friend the next week, I suggested Royal YUM. It was a perfect place to meet for lunch. It was quiet, so we could have a nice conversation. Service was great. We both got the Pad Thai with Chicken and spice level 4. She had the soup and I had the salad. We both loved our meals. It also came with an egg roll. Even though it was a lunch portion, we had to take home almost half of our meals. So, we were able to enjoy the meal twice. I also had Thai Tea, which was perfect. Upon being seated I presented the server my Yelp offer, at which time she said that wouldn't honor. It was evident the server was unaware of the Yelp marketing. A more senior server later apologized and informed me that they would honor the Yelp offer,The menu offered a variety that truly capture the richness of Thai cuisine. They use whole milk instead of the traditional condensed milk for the Thai tea tea. The result is a more watered down version with a less sweet flavor profile - definitely not worth the $4.99 price point. It might not be for everyone, especially if you're a fan of the classic sweetness. The Thai combination fried rice is decent but falls short of being exceptional. While the mix of flavors is satisfactory, the dish lacks that extra punch that sets it apart. The portion size is generous .It's a decent option if you're in the mood for basic Thai fried rice, but not the standout dish you might hope for.
