For me, it leaned a little too quiet, but it did make the whole experience feel slow-paced and intentional instead of rushed. The space itself is cute and thoughtfully put together, simple without trying too hard. Service matched that energy--easy and natural. We were helped by both staff members throughout the meal, and they were kind, efficient, and attentive without hovering. The vegetarian egg rolls were crispy and solid, but the real star was the house sweet & sour sauce. I'm still thinking about it. It's that good. The green bean app was another win--crispy, flavorful, and super snackable. I personally would've loved a little more sauce, but that's a small thing. The Volcano Catfish (2/5 spice) absolutely delivered. Huge portion, perfectly cooked, and everything on the plate worked together. The fried rice soaked up all the flavor and held its own. This is the dish that makes the price make sense. The Pad Thai with chicken (1/5 spice) was a sleeper hit. Once you add the lime and mix everything together, it really opens up--bright, balanced, and surprisingly good. Only note for me--the chicken wasn't my favorite. Not bad, just not my preference. Years and years later, I still love Andaman. The green curry still wins my heart, and the ambiance is still quaint and intimate and perfect for a light lunch or a nice date night. My husband and I placed a pickup order, and I ordered the Thai BBQ Beef. The menu described it as: "Grilled Marinated Tender Fillet of Beef, on Top of Fresh Veggies, Served with Cucumber Salad, Spicy Lemongrass Sauce, & Jasmine Rice." What I received was a piece of tough meat on wilted brown lettuce, two tomato slices, and two thin, brown cucumber slices -- no rice, no veggies, and definitely no cucumber salad. I called to complain (the meal was $21!), and instead of offering a refund, they insisted on sending the missing items. Fifteen minutes later, someone arrived with just a small container of rice -- still no vegetables or salad. When I called again, a different employee argued that the "fresh vegetables" were the lettuce and tomato, and the "cucumber salad" was the two thin cucumber slices. He said they've "been serving it this way for 20 years, and he is sorry that I misunderstood the description. He refused to refund me. The beef was so tough it was inedible -- I threw most of it away. Do not waste your money here. read more

This place used to be my favorite Thai restaurant within a 50 mile radius. It's sad to see how the service, food, and conditions of this place deteriorated over time. I've continued to give it chances and was even considering trying them again after a year. I was going to order take out this time and I can't even get someone to answer the phone after repeatedly trying for 10 minutes during hours of operation. Does the owner or management here simply not care? I wish this place the best but it's hard for me to not try to avoid this place when someone asks me to take them to a decent Thai food restaurants in town. I hope the owner sees these reviews and put in a little more effort. I might have to just put a nail in the coffin for this restaurant and pretend this place will never be the same. RIP. read more

Food was good but costumer service was something... Tables weren't cleaned the whole time I was there. I also had to wait 20 minutes to be seated when the restaurant wasn't busy and there were free waiters. When I was seated I had to wait 20 MORE minutes for water. Waiters talked the whole time when they could've been cleaning or refilling waters. Waiter also brought personal matters in work life. Very unprofessional. Waiter had a nasty attitude. I ordered takeout, so I cannot speak as to the location, but I was impressed at the quality for the price. A word of warning on spice level: they do not mess around, so if you order spicy, expect spicy. I ordered the garlic noodles with tofu and it hit the spot for me, very flavorful. I saw several dishes on the menu that I had not seen at other Thai places, so I am intrigued to order again and try something new. The food was ready fairly quick as well. Had an early dinner here and enjoyed everything about it. The spring roll appetizers with peanut sauce were fantastic! I had drunken noodles with chicken, spice level 2. My daughter had a clear noodle stir fry with beef, level 1. Both were spot on with just the right amount of heat. If I were craving heat I would go up to a level 3, but 2 was just the right balance of a good presence of heat without overpowering the noodles, veggies and chicken. We've tried a number of Thai and Asian restaurants in denton and this is by far the best so far. Great traditional Thai menu. The owner seems to be the cook in the back. I feel bad that he seems to work very hard but the food is great. I am sad that they've cut there hours recently but will definitely return. read more

The two servers we had were great. However, the kitchen messed up our order repeatedly. First, they messed up my sister's order. They (mostly) fixed that but then messed up my order. The kitchen said they couldn't fix my order by combining the chicken with fried rice. We didn't want to make a big fuss so I just ate the red curry chicken with steamed rice despite having ordered the red curry chicken fried rice (on the menu, not a modification). Then the server said the kitchen/management wasn't going to allow him to do a free dessert. When we got our bill, we were charged the full price, including for added eggplant that my sister never got with her order. One of our favorite go to restaurants when we lived in Memphis was a Thai restaurant and since moving we have missed the flavors of Thai. So decided to go into downtown Denton and give Andaman a try. Parking is a challenge in this part of downtown, but we found a place just a block away. Entering the restaurant we were surprised at how small it is. Also pretty dark with dark woods everywhere. Would have to call it a bit of a dive. Service was good, but then there was only one other table occupied so can't really judge from that. We decided to get the four dishes we usually got at our place in TN for a comparison. Will return other times to better explore the huge menu here offering pretty much every Thai dish I have ever heard of. Started with Satay Chicken which arrived hot off the grill with a superior peanut sauce. Excellent. Then on to a Larb Chicken Salad which experience tells me can be tricky to get right in terms of spice and hotness because of the chili oil. Again, excellent with a generous amount of chicken and very fresh lettuce. For main courses we had Panang Curry with Pork and Pad Thai with Pork. The Panang was filled with veggies and came with a creative pyramid of perfectly done white rice. I could have used it spicier, but had asked for it medium since I did not know this chef's tendencies with hot an will ask for above medium next time. The Pad Thai was about the sweetest version of that dish we have ever tasted. Not a bad thing at all, just different but highly flavorful. Noodles in the Pad Thai were perfectly done and not too sticky as can happen. All in all a very good experience and we will return. Only real complaint is the tables feel a little dirty because of the wood they are made of just feels like it retains oils. read more

3 years living in Denton, and I never did learn how to pronounce the name of this restaurant. I usually resorted to "onomatopoeia" which is objectively a longer, harder-to-pronounce word, I admit. Their tofu pad Thai is amazing, packed with veggies, and full of flavor. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Satay Chicken and Fried Pork Dumplings to-go. The chicken was rubbery. I got more of a peanut sauce taste with a tad of curry. The cucumber salad sauce was good but very underwhelming with 2 cucumber slices. The Fried Pork Dumplings were good. The "fresh veggies" was a mini salad with no dressing. I wish I still felt the same about Andaman as I used to, but sadly its declined over the years and I don't feel right leaving it with 5 stars. When compared to other Thai spots around town Andaman just doesn't deliver on a good price to portion ratio. It really hurts making the update, as we used to come here for our dates nights and such. However lately, coming here puts us in a bad mood. My husband decided enough was enough about two years ago. Their was multiple servers hanging around, doing absolutely nothing. We were the only table, and still couldn't get our servers attention. We never received a drink refill, a checkup, a spice rack. However, when I new table entered they were extremely attentive to them. My husband has not been back, but I do a yearly check up. Each time I've come back the food is still tasty, but not any better than somewhere else in town. The service desperately needs help, otherwise I'll continue to come less and less. read more

I guess for one of my last reviews that I do from Texas, Andaman is a pretty decent place to go. I have passed by this place many many times going to Weinbergers or Vigne or Rusty Taco or over to Oak St. I do love Thai food and Thai Ocha off University is one of my favorite. As for Andaman, well their food was pretty darn good. I even tried something new that is now a must for me at any Thai place. Chicken Tom Ka. So creamy, great tomato taste and the chicken was so moist. Wonderful flavors. For my meal, I had Beef Sukiyaki. I was less enthused about that. My buddy tasted it and though it was great. I thought it need some sort of boost. Salt? Chili paste? It was good but a little bland for me. I loved the glass noodles and all the veggies. It has a great atmosphere and the service was decent. I know that the place does get busy, but Sunday nights you can get in quickly. Support Denton businesses. read more

Idk what it is about college campuses but is it me or are there always a ton of Thai restaurants near colleges? (TWU & UT)-but I'm not complaining I love Thai food :) Arrived at 11 AM on the dot when they opened and was seated immediately. My server was very nice and service was great. I ordered the beef pad see-eww lunch portion that came with complementary egg drop soup. The egg drop soup was unlike any other egg drop soup I've ever had. You could definitely tell they put some love into it, it wasn't the mediocre soup you sometimes get during lunch specials, but actually good quality soup. They added some spices and cucumbers(?) but it had a nice sour taste that is very common in Thai food. The flat noodles OMG SO GOOD. I've never had noodles that actually were memorable (flat noodles are flat noodles) but man these noodles tasted fresh, and we're thick cut just how I like them. They were sautéed with a sweet brown sauce with beef, egg, broccoli and carrots. Would definitely come again. They had a note on their menu that stated they don't refund money if your food is too hot, so be sure to mention if you don't want anything spicy! Overall service is good and food is good, definitely stop by if you're around the area :) read more

I have loved Andaman for years and I acknowledge that everyone is struggling during this time. That said, when I ordered takeout last night I asked 3 times if the tom kha had red chili spice in it, which I am allergic to. I was told that it didn't have any. Suffice to say, it does have chili in it. Also, FYI, the fresh rolls are not using rice paper right now, but are wrapped in something like a thin wheat flour tortilla. The dipping sauce is yummy though. Despite all that, the sauces and seasonings are delicious and the food is good quality. I just entreat restaurant staff to make sure that the customers trying to support them during this crazy time are getting what they actually order, or making clear over the phone if they are subbing an ingredient for something different. read more

I admit that I had never tried Thai food before my girlfriend suggested this place. After giving it a try though, I've gone back several times. This place is really good. I've ordered their Cashew Nut chicken, the Pad Thai, the Chicken Ginger Fried Rice and it's always been amazing. In fact I've only had one dish that I didn't absolutely love, but that was my fault. I should have read the menu more closely before I ordered and I would have avoided that plate if I had. Ultimately, that one is on me. Andaman Thai is a great place with a good selection. Their menu is extensive and you can order it mild if you're a lightweight like me, or you can order it hella spicy if you're a bit more brave where spicy dishes are concerned (like my girlfriend). Good beer selection, good wine selection, I've never ordered a mixed drink there so I don't know if they serve spirits or not. But they serve Kinsen Plum Wine which is so tasty. It's very sweet though, so if you give it a try be warned this isn't typical dry red or white wine. Any sweeter and you could pour it on pancakes. Highly recommend. :) read more

I've came here MANY MANY times. Today I was greeted by a waiter with extremely long nails which in food industry is known To be not health code standard as your nails carry dirt. BEYOND unhappy with my service today. I got a soup with shrimp style broth when I asked for a chicken..... the chef himself came out an said they will take care of me. I still paid for a soup I never even touched. Gave me the wrong noodles, I asked for a HOT TEA I got some spicy honey ginger tea that's just like. I'm so pissed with today's services I prob won't ever come back an I used to go there every week atleast 1-3 times.... it's a shame they let someone like that into there restaurant to work an that worker pushes away a local customer. Takes forever to count my change, takes forever to bring me hot water. I asked for limes, the gentlemen bring a big plate with one lime on it like why bro ?!?! read more
