I love The Taste in Denton! You really can't find much Korean food around here, so this place is such a gem. I always get the bibimbop and it's amazing--super flavorful and always hits the spot. The side dishes are always fresh and delicious, and the whole place gives off a cozy, friendly, family-run vibe. Every time I come in, the staff is kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. As a TWU student, it's so convenient to have a spot like this nearby. The epitome of a hidden gem. I stopped in with a coworker for a late lunch and I was not disappointed. I had the beef bulgogi plate and he had the udon. I could drink bulgogi sauce and be happy, and the meat was tender and delicious. The egg rolls were also yummy. Definitely give the kimchi a try if you've never had it. It's been years since I tried food from The Taste and it's as delicious as I remember it. Prices have gone up a bit but that's not surprising since things have gone up in general, but worth the price. I ordered the Pork Cutlet Eagle Box (as seen in pic) to go and loved it! This visit was even better than the last! The bento box is an excellent way to try multiple things without committing to too much food. This portion was more than enough for me. I got bulgolgi chicken last time and this visit, and this serving was WAY better. You can even see it in the picture. The taste was fantastic- I can't quite explain what bulgolgi tastes like as I don't have it often, but it's very delicious. I wasn't a huge fan of the kimchi. I've had better. The dumplings and tempura fried shrimp had excellent breading. Everything tasted fresh. I got many compliments on good the food smelled at work. Great price for so much food. Well, where do I start! Kinda a fast food restaurant which can be Hit or Miss! Today it was a total MISS! Appetizers were Shrimp Tempura and Fried Dumplings! The Shrimp was good, from there it went down hill! The Dumplings were cold and tough to chew. We ordered two Eagle Boxes; Korean BBQ Rib-lets with White Rice, Shrimp Tempura, Fried Calamari, Fried Dumpling and a mini Yogurt Drink! The other was; Spicy Pork Bulgogi, with White Rice, Shrimp Tempura, Fried Calamari, Fried Dumpling and a mini Yogurt Drink! The Rib-let's were ok, nice amount of meat on the ribs. White Rice is White Rice! The Spicy Pork Bulgogi had a foul smell to it! Also tasted bad! I ate one bite of my dish! I had to cover the plate with my napkin due to the bad smell. We were in the area and wanted something delicious, so we tried out The Taste. To put it short, it's a hole in the wall--the food was delicious and very authentic. We had to drive about an hour home, and the food was still hot and fresh. I absolutely loved their little side dishes and wished that we had more, but it was totally enough for the two of us! The service was not too quick, but that's how we like it. We came in when they were near closing, but they took great care of our order. The staff was nice, and they carefully packed our soups. By the time we came home, nothing spilled! There wasn't much of an ambiance there. It's a tiny place with seating, and we did takeout; however, although it doesn't look like much, we highly recommend you to try out the food here. Small but kozy. The seating options is something I really appreciate. You can come solo, small or large groups and you don't need to rearrange anything to be able to grab a seat. I love when dining in the thoughtfulness of the plating and service plates / bowls. The portion options and quick way to order is wonderful imo too. The one thing I will say is: genuinely the food is delicious and filling, but flavor and quality is inconsistent. It's never bad food - and I've personally never had undercooked food or had to go ask for additional assistance on my order. I LOVE not going to Carrollton for some Japchae. It's one of my favorite comfort foods and the portion is priced fairly/ priced very well. In Carrollton japchae is ... not as good and definitely overpriced. The Korean BBQ is always a hit in my home and one of our favorites but every time we come we order something new. The bulgogi is wonderful the bibimbop is SO good. The dumplings never falter and I love again- not going to Carrollton for those Korean ice cream options. I saw some other reviews about pricing not being worth it? Considering the cost of food and overall inflation, as well as further away competition- the pricing vs portion you are getting is VERY well thought out. The location is definitely convenient for college students and those who rely on Denton bus or train. I don't mind driving over here. The parking is limited, but there is always somewhere to park. Leaving makes me nervous but I've never seen an accident here. If you're on the fence, this place is a total gem and you should at least go try them out! read more

We needed to find a place to eat close to the basketball game we were going to so we ended up here at The Taste. It's a tiny place and the seating area could use some upgrades for sure, the lady at the front counter was very nice and helpful. The menu is limited and a bit confusing with this "Eagle Box" option which isn't explained very well so I had to ask the lady what this was and she just said it's a little bit of everything lol, still don't know what it is. Anyway I decided to order the Beef Bulgogi and it was actually pretty good, I wasn't sure what to expect as this was my first experience with Beef Bulgogi . It was ok, probably more tailored to college kids who got tired of the cafeteria food. Paid $6 for what tasted exactly like a bag of Korean Shin ramen with an egg added to it. The pot that the ramen came out with also showed its age. The food in the eagle box was barely enough for an adult, so I would suggest getting the meal instead. Many of the tables are uneven, so don't move them because you'll have to put napkins under the table legs again. The parking could be a pain, I think they only have like 2 or 3 dedicated parking spots. Honestly, if you really want decent Korean food, drive to Carrollton instead. read more

The seafood taste was a bit overpowering, and I can't say I loved the soup base. Beef was a bit tough and dry. Couldn't taste whether it was spicy. The kimchi tasted a bit strange. Like it wasn't quite ready yet. The funniest thing was the added fruit cup. Where in the world did that come from? Overall, mediocre but it could've been worse, considering it was Denton. We've been here several times when we're in the area. Definitely has the college town vibe as the interior is rather simple. You order your food from the counter, and you pick up your food when its ready. The food is good...the side dishes (banchan) are relatively light, but they do offer some banchan (so that's a plus). I was at a local hospital for work so came by for lunch. I ordered the spicy stir fried rice cakes and kimbap - both of which I enjoyed over all. The menu of the Taste is pretty diverse and for a restaurant right by a college campus this is ambitious. And the food is priced very reasonably- I have to commend them for that. I wasn't expecting a stellar ramen, but this Ramen might be the worst I've ever tasted. Maybe I ordered the wrong menu item, however I have to be impartial per my experience here. They got my food out quickly, and it was served with a decent set of Banchans- a few types of kimchi, grated radish, good palette cleansers. The ramen seemed like it was a heated up packet of instant noodles served in a fancy metal bowl. A for presentation but D for taste- this was a packet of Shin Ramyun cooked with an egg and onions boiled into the broth. It tasted like if you had messed up while cooking a packet of ramen at home.. My noodles were over cooked, and there was still powder from the broth packet frothing at the top of the bowl. The broth was ok, slightly diluted- I lost all interest in eating after biting the soggy noodles. Shin Ramyun is good stuff - don't get me wrong, but at least add something to the broth, or use your own noodles or at least know when to take the noodles off the stove. I can't speak for the rest of their menu- all I can say is DONT GET THE RAMEN! read more

This is my first time eating here. The Beef Rib Soup meat is tough like a rubber. Can't even chew the beef.

Simple menu, no frills setting and BYOB. If you occasionally crave Korean food, which I do, it is a nice little find near UNT. They have bento boxes (a good intro to the cuisine), stews, fried mackerel, ma po tofu (minced pork, tofu & a spicy sauce), galbi (thinly sliced short ribs) and other assorted appetizers. The place gets pretty full and you do see some cool Korean students while you're there so you know it is authentic, home style cooking. Our first trip in, we ordered dumplings and a type of sushi roll. I tried the galbi which came out piled atop some grilled onions. It has a sweet sauce and was a little chewy, but that is how the dish is. We got a few banchan (side dishes) that I loved: kimchi, daikon radish and some tofu skin type salad. I asked and received 2nds of the kimchi. The radish was delicious too in a light vinegar. My hubby and friend both ordered the spicy seafood ramen. Very nice and very spicy. For the price, you can't beat it. I cannot wait to go back for the other items I mentioned AND a sizzling stone bowl bimbimbap. Go in, check it out. Get some! read more

I had the misfortune of only being able to order this through uber eats which is disappointing because I would have loved to experienced it in person . The kimbap isn't listed on the app so sadly I couldn't try it and I was dying for some . I was originally going to go for the eagle boxes because I'm not a big meat eater and usually love banchan but the banchan here were quite simple looking so instead I got the marinated chicken vegetable mix and the pork cutlet for my boy . We both loved it ! It's our go to korean place since the others around us are mainly "asian fusion " and we don't care for that . I wish they offered better desserts and drinks though .
