My wife and I went for lunch. The place was really cute inside and the tables were mostly full of customers, but it didn't seem too busy. Our waiter was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the menu and helped us make choices while also but being overbearing. We opted for some fried balls which were delicious, but very heavy. It gave me state fair vibes. We each could only eat one. We also ordered a fusion sushi in the creamy ono. It was escolar topped with seared mayonnaise and eel sauce. Really great bite. Lastly we ordered the godzilla roll. Really fresh and the rice was nice and firm. I would go back for more rolls. My only complaint was how expensive it all was. You get what you pay for usually, but this place was on par with nobu prices. This place is not nobu. It's more of an izakaya type vibe. read more

Sushi Motto is hands down the best sushi spot in Denton! The fish is incredibly fresh and the menu has an amazing variety of flavors to try. I've been a few times now and have been blown away each visit. The lemon salmon sushi is one of my favorites -- the perfect slice of salmon and bold, bright flavors. The madai truffle carpaccio had a nice kick, while the salmon avocado carpaccio was perfectly balanced.The unagi was also spot on, with just the right amount of sauce. Our server Peter was phenomenal -- very professional, knowledgeable about the menu, and his recommendations were outstanding. We've hopped around from sushi place to sushi place around the Denton, Highland Village, and Flower Mound areas. We tried this restaurant a couple of months ago and were VERY impressed, but time got away and I didn't do a review. We went again tonight and were blown away. Our sushi chef/owner was amazing and provided bespoke service that you'd get from a high end personalized chef. His recommendations were spot on, he explained his menu (that he created), and told us his story of how he worked up the ranks to a sushi chef. What an amazing experience and equally amazing food. You have to try the Godzilla (the seared tuna was to die for), Hot Night, and the Yellowtail Ceviche roll. You will not be disappointed. The menu is also extensive with other great looking Japanese dishes. The restaurant is clean, and has beautiful cherry blossom decor. It's located off the side of a strip mall with decent parking all around. This will be our sushi spot, hands down. read more

This used to be our favorite sushi restaurant in the Denton area but we recently visited after the remodel and it has gone way down hill. The service is excellent, however the food is not worth the astronomical pricing. We ordered our favorite appetizer - the creamy balls - and they were cold with a huge dollop of cream cheese inside. We shared the Spider Roll. It was plated excellently but was smaller than the rolls were the last time we were here and tasted like washed up seaweed smells. This place used to be packed with customers and food delivery drivers waiting on to go orders and it was dead on a Friday night. I hope they bring back their old menu before it goes under because we did love it. $32 for a small appetizer and a small sushi roll is not going to do well in Denton. read more
