First of all if I could, I would rate the restaurant 3.5 starts. The four of us (2 couples) visited Our Nest for a brunch on a Thursday at 11am. We regularly get together and go out for a meal. Note that we are 4 retired seniors, and I wear hearing aids. The restaurant was somewhat dark and we had a bit of difficulty reading the menu. There was loud music and the restaurant did not have much sound deadening materials on the ceiling and walls. I ordered an omelette and found it very tasty. My wife ordered waffles with fruit and enjoyed it. An order of eggs and their version of Avocado Toast (with a lot of avocado) was very good. 2 of us ordered the Our Potatoes which were fingerling potatoes cut into good-sized pieces. There was just a light seasoning on them and they were cooked slightly so, they were almost "crunchy." I found them ok but, I would probably go for the hash browns or tater tots if we returned. Our other friend did not like them at all. My wife asked about a decaf coffee and they did not have the capability to make it but, informed us that they were in the process of getting the equipment to make a decaf coffee. She ordered the Latte with caffeine, and enjoyed it. Note the menu does indicate that an 18% gratuity is charged for parties of 5 or more and 22% for parties of 8 or more. Butter was free but, the jam for my English Muffin was 50 cents. When our bill came, there was a lower total for cash. I would probably come again but, one friend with the potatoes did not want to return. read more

First off, two kitchen sink burritos cost me $45. With that kind of pricing, I was expecting the burritos to be the best damn burritos I've ever eaten in my life. The burritos were good but definitely not worth the price plus the 12% auto gratuity they charge for take out orders, plus the credit card up charge. I will give them credit, at least they are upfront about the 12% auto gratuity, but I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that an auto gratuity on a takeout order is very off putting. Everyone that worked there was very friendly. The whole credit/cash difference in price was also a nice surprise when I got the bill. Add all that up and that's how you end up with a $23 burrito that's a 7/10 on my personal breakfast burrito scale, above average but in my opinion, not without the price. read more

Hello!! I just wanna give a big thanks to everyone at the restaurant for serving me and my son last week, even though staff yelled at us as we waited 40 mins for food. We are still feeling the after-effects (in the toilet Haha) of the mediocre food, but I still enjoyed looking at all the Blue Lives Matter decorations!! I'm happy that this restaurant does not tolerate political affiliations . If you are a racist and/or Blue lives matter follower, come down and eat a veryyyy middle-of-the-road and borderline diarrhea-inducing breakfast while admiring the intimidating, yet useless police badges on the wall. read more

I did some Yelp searching late at night, and it looked really decent. I was excited to try this place out. We came on a Sunday morning (my only day off just FYI), and I think this place won the award for the longest I've ever waited. Don't get me wrong, the food is good. But the service really dropped the ratings to a lower tier. ITEMS I TRIED: - California Benedict: pretty standard. NIce because it comes with a juicy/crispy slice of bacon underneath. Eggs were poached and paired well with the hollandaise sauce. - French Toast (banana foster): unique, definitely get to try. Crispy exterior yet fluffy interior. The sauce is pretty sweet but if you have a black coffee next to you, this is the perfect pairing. SERVICE: honestly, the thing that dropped the rating. I don't usually let service dictate my rating so much, but I don't think I've ever waited so long for food in my life. It took 45 min to an hour; their excuse was we were caught just behind a larger party and unfortunately, bad luck. My utensils also didn't come with a knife -- I asked for one, and it took about 10 minutes to get that also (after the waitress checked in with many different tables--she forgot). The worst part was that it was nearly impossible to get any service before they brought over the food. The fastest thing brought to us the whole time was the check. Maybe it was an off day because of a busy Sunday, but I feel like if you anticipate such a long wait, at least come by to check on the table, apologize, or bring something small to compensate for time. PARKING: decent, the restaurant is located in a plaza with ample parking. PRICE: reasonable prices for brunch. Overall, I wish that the service didn't ruin the entire experience, but it just felt like we were neglected the whole time. I even came 10-15 min late and my BF ordered the food before I got there, so he waited even longer. read more

Pass by this place often and finally got to come check it out! Mainly because we are early birds and they don't open until 8am. Today we slept in so we came here for breakfast. The interior is very cozy and clean. They have an espresso machine and unfrozen drinks and looks like they have some alcohol choices too. My boyfriend got juice and I got a latte. He ordered the chorizo hash and I got the spam fried rice loco moco. Both very tasty with fresh ingredients. They got staple breakfast selection with some Mexican style breakfast too. Will be back to try other items on the menu. Service was attentive. Love there's indoor and outdoor seatings. read more

Food is good, and this location was recommend by another law enforcement officer I work with. However, I read about the owners attitude and decided to still try it out myself. Unfortunately he was extremely rude to my 50 year old father and made it seem like we were not welcomed. First I thought, "maybe he is just like that." Nope, you can tell that with certain people he gives good service. The rest of the staff are extremely friendly. I won't be going back but I guess when you make good food you can get away with being rude and making others feel less than. I guess I made the mistake, and I should have gone in my work uniform to get decent service. After I wrote this review the owner responded to it and you may read it at the bottom. This is a response to his/her justification. Whoever they are typing about an apology to a group who was not us. I work in a stressful job and completely understand working under pressure and how hard it can be to keep composure. However, I got there with my family as soon as it opened, 0800 hours. No one was there yet. Nothing About a reservation was discussed so I am not sure who you are talking about and "apologizing" to. That just shows that someone else felt like they were mistreated. I am just talking about the rudeness of the owner and how he treated my father on Father's Day, no "hello" no "welcome" no "happy Father's Day" just a condescending "we are extremely busy it's Father's Day we have a lot going on and so many reservations." It is now 0540 hours so I have had the entire day to think on this review and not go based on "emotion" as you claim. As for the county jail comment, clever. read more

The food is absolutely amazing - every bite is bursting with flavor and prepared with care. I can't stop raving about their chorizo plate. It is a must-try! Everything was great... service, food, cleanliness. All of it! I have been trying all local spots lately and will definitely return. The breakfast potatoes are a must and the omelette was so good too. A couple things.. the pumpkin French toast was a whopping $23!! And they charge for everything... like the salsa. I would have never paid $23 for French toast had I known, but other than that it was good. read more

I asked for my pancakes to be very light (in color). When they arrived dark I brought it to the waitress' attention. Someone else overheard our conversation and stepped in. I repeated my original request and was snarkily told that they cannot serve raw pancakes...something about the health department thrown in there..........I explained I did not want raw but just cooked, light pancakes (which are fluffy vs dark which are rubbery). I ended up getting a new order, similar to the first order, and an excuse that the plancha is very hot. My friend's breakfast looked delicious. I paid in full. $66.00 + $13.00 tip for the 2 of us. read more

We are always looking for really good brunch/breakfast places. Only found a few. This isn't one of them. When we got there it was pretty busy. They told us 15-20 we actually waited 35 minutes. We placed our order quickly as we already had looked at the menu. The food took so long to come out. Not kidding literally 45 minutes. Mind you by the time we sat down it wasn't as busy. We ordered the rubys special. The chicken asada sandwich, pancakes and the French toast recommended by the server. So, don't get the rubys special, definitely do not recommend everything else was decent. Nothing that would have me come back again. We also requested to go plastic utensils to eat with but the host said they charge $2.00 for each set of plastic utensils to eat with inside. That was a first for me, I've never heard of such a thing. Also they don't have a flat credit card transaction fee it's like a percentage off your bill. On the plus side I will say I like that they offer a lot of turkey options. For me personally I would rather go to IHOP if I had to choose this and ihop. read more

I've been meaning to write this for a little while now. This place is outstanding. The food is fresh, they have healthy options, and is fantastic. I usually order the 3 egg omelet with spinach and sausage, and it is incredible and filling. We've also ordered a plate of their special French toast to share, and it really is some of the best food I've eaten. It's not overly sweet and has tremendous flavor. The service is great. The staff is always on the spot to refill your drinks or attend to your needs. They're very friendly and efficient, which is something I appreciate. I hate to write about a small business like this, but here we are. If the restaurant is going to go all in with serving snark, then they need to put up signs up saying they do table limits to match the signs informing no outside food or drink, food sharing, etc. We sat for breakfast for 1 hour and 15 minutes and were asked to leave in the middle of a heartfelt chat. Mind you, other tables were there longer. I have a background in the service industry, so I was actually being mindful of our time in there (Friday, late breakfast time). There were a few other tables that had been there longer than us for sure. We would have gladly honored such a posted rule. So we were a little dumbfounded when approached by a male staff saying "can I kick you guys out?" which felt.....awkward to say the least. I brought up that we were in the middle of a very sad conversation and asked for a minute and was told that they could give us cups for the rest of our drinks and sit on the benches out front. I also mentioned that there were at least three tables I counted that were there longer than us and he said one still had food on their table (once again....service industry....they were not pre-bussed as I noticed when being mindful our time along with other customers). We were bummed because we had been to The Next several times and I have suggested it to friends as a place to try especially hearing that they are opening a Brea location. Now my word of mouth will be much different. There are more places in the area that you can still support as a local business that I have experienced good service and being treated with respect and dignity, such as Early Bird, Eggspresso, Poached, Toast, Café Cultura, Madres and Popping Yolk. read more

Amazing Food, Healthy Options, and Outstanding Service! The Nest is a gem! Their food is not only delicious but also thoughtfully prepared with healthier ingredients. I had the breakfast taquitos with a side of fingerling potatoes, and everything was outstanding. The green sauce is especially tasty! What sets them apart is their use of healthy oils like avocado oil--no seed oils here--which makes me feel even better about dining here. Samantha clearly takes pride in offering healthier alternatives to what most restaurants provide, and it really shows in the quality of the food. The cappuccino was excellent, and the service was just as amazing. I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend! read more

The attitude was meh and the food was mid. Not worth the price or the experience. We tried this place out because of the star value but failed to read the reviews that noted poor service. Well, we were the lucky recipients of such service. Staff did not seem happy to be working. That goes for the majority of them- from the dude who seated up to the two servers that helped us out. It was not even that crowded but we felt like no one was happy there. Not just with our table, either. When we were asked how our food was it was stated in the most apathetic way. Had to ask for drink refills and wait longer than we should have. I am all for transparency but the rules and stipulations all seemed extra and off-putting. It set the vibe and it delivered, unfortunately. read more

I had been meaning to try this place for awhile after rave reviews and it just ended up being a solid okay. Maybe we just didn't order the right things? Went on a Saturday morning around 8:30 and did not have to wait. It was extremely crowded when we left (around 10am). The menu had a lot of options and we chose the breakfast bowl and carnitas machacca burrito. The breakfast bowl was pretty flavorless and could have had some sort of sauce with it and more cheese. I felt pretty disappointed. Burrito was huge and easily shareable. The peppers inside were great, but the meat did taste a little dry and could have had more flavor. Would be great if you could get more salsa without an up charge! I'm not a huge sauce person, but think that both dishes would have been improved with the sauce/salsa. Service was okay. We were a little put off by receiving our check with a "no rush" only halfway through or meal with it being very obvious we were not close to done. The server who took our food order was super nice. We could have just ordered the wrong things or it was an off-day of some sort, but was expecting a bit more. If there were half stars, I would give 3.5. read more

We were not disappointed. If I could give a 6th star, I would. The food was absolutely fantastic, but the service was genuine. Great place overall! The Loco Moco calls out to me in dreams. However, one star lost for their French toast and ambiance. Their specialty ones always sounds so amazing but we've tried two now (blueberry and apple) and they are difficult to eat. The flavor is fantastic, but they are somehow drenched in oil/grease; so much so, you feel yourself drinking them instead of eating them. We've eventually thrown away the leftovers of about half the orders both times because they are too difficult to stomach. Which says a lot because they're on the expensive side, which would be appropriate for the flavor and portion size, but the grease/oil ruins it. Although, I'm not seeing this observation in any other comments, so maybe my husband and I are the problem. I really don't think so though. As for the ambiance, it's a cute farmhouse theme; however, all of the military and police decor make me extremely uncomfortable with today's political climate. I know the owners have posted on social media that they have family that have served, and it's to honor them for the most part, the amount is just overwhelming to me. I will still continue to go back for the Loco Moco though! read more

Comfort food on steroids! Everything here is made to order. No warming trays, no instant eggs. It's all fresh ingredients and made with pride and to order. Servings are plentiful. Taste is amazing. Menu is vast but not overwhelming. Bring your patience and your appetite. It takes a minute to make your order, but the wait is worth it. What's not worth it is the young waitress (sister of one of the owners?) who's attitude is curt and dismissive. She lacks any attention to detail and seems to want to do the minimum to take your order and get you out of the restaurant - doesn't matter if it's a weekday or weekend - she is never happy, and is always a downer to an otherwise great establishment that's run by an amazing husband and wife team. So despite Miss Uncongeniality, this is a place worth patronizing. read more

In search for our GO TO a breakfast/brunch spot and came across Our Nest. Had it bookmarked for a while but a gf of mine suggested so... here we are on a Saturday morning. Came around 10:30am and it was full but the 15 min wait wasn't bad compared to some of the other breakfast spots. The restaurant is a quaint little spot tucked away in a little shopping center near the 57 fwy in Fullerton (really on the outskirts of Placentia). They have a tent up with benches for those waiting for a table which I thought was a nice touch. The outside seating area is also covered with tents and umbrellas so you can enjoy your meal in the shade. Our waitress was very nice. Told her it was our first time and she went over the "must haves" with us. Recommended by her was the French Toast (that's what they are known for), Chiliquellas; CA Benedict and Avocado Toast. My party of 4 got the Filet and Eggs, Omelette and Filet Mignon Benedict. We couldn't pass up on the French Toast so we got a half order to share. It wasn't terribly busy there so we were surprised to see that our food took almost an hour to get served. While the waitress was super nice about getting checking on our order and getting it out ASAP, I coulnd't help but notice that the benedict looked like it sat for awhile. I really wanted to love this place and while it was OK... I think we will stick to Early Birds for the benedict and the french toast. read more

The food was pretty good, but the customer service is lacking (maybe that's why gratuity is automatically added). Our party interacted with 4 staff and the only friendly one was the young gentleman who came around refilling water and coffee. I get that there's a long line of people waiting, and maybe staff is stressed, but we felt like we were inconveniencing staff ever since we got there based on their attitude and curt responses. The food was on par with what I can get elsewhere, so I'd rather go elsewhere than deal with staff that seems to hate their job. To Samantha : I understand where you're coming from and I'm sorry to hear about the health issues. Coming from the other side of the same token I, too, am human and it was my birthday breakfast this morning. We all left feeling bummed out, and like the morning didn't go as well as we planned. Wow, their portions are generous! Our group honestly over ordered and we did not realize how big each order was gonna be. We definitely had leftovers. I ordered the "Eggs In A Nest" and wow, the flavors of the sauce, the yummy carnitas, the delicious chips. This is a dish best finished at the restaurant because the sauce will make the chips too soggy for to go. I also ordered a side of hash browns which was also huge! Very crunchy if you like it that way. We also got the pretty multi dip "7 Layer Breakfast" and "Breakfast Nachos " with breakfast potatoes to share. Flavors were good. Portions were huge. Everyone was happy. And upon scrolling on Yelp, we realized the chef did tomahawk steaks to order. So if you want to enjoy that, call in a few days ahead so they can order and even chat about how you would like it. We didn't get to try that but the chef explained everything to us so we knew what to do if we wanted to come back for it. read more

Our Nest is literally THE BEST! Run, don't walk down there and have a breakfast that will make you cry tears of joy. We tried Our Nest after our family raved about it and this has quickly become my favorite breakfast spot. They have a couple items that will change your life and I've literally not had something here yet, that I thought was anything but really good. What are the things I love/like? ***Rudy's Special is a flour tortilla stuffed with whole green chiles, beans, sauce, shredded chicken or shredded beef, deep fried and then doused with menguiche and avocado sauce. It's amazing! ***"Eggs in a Nest" Chilaquiles is tortilla chips tossed in green, spicy or ranchera salsa, 2 over easy eggs and doused with menguiche. I highly recommend getting it with Christmas style (half red and half green). These are by far my favorite chilaquiles anywhere in Orange County. ***The Fruit and Yogurt Bowl is under their healthy eats section and is seasonal fruit and berries on a large plate with yummy vanilla yogurt and granola. My little guy went to town on this as an alternative to their deep fried French toast (AMAZING - also a must try) ***There is also a salad that doesn't seem to be on the online menu that we've had twice. It's a Greek salad of sorts with a lovely lemon dressing and feta. This goes great paired with one of the top 2 things I have listed above. Everyone raves about the breakfast taquitos but I don't really get it. We had it and it was good but not anything like Rudy's Special...and quick aside, I tried their impossible chorizo and it is SO much better than the turkey chorizo in my opinion. We will be shouting from the rooftops to everyone we know how great Our Nest is and we will definitely be back. read more
