I have been to this location many times and have consistently received good food and excellent service. However, this evening we went there and it was not any busier than it usually is. We were seated immediately, and that is the only nice thing I can say. We ordered our drinks and appetizers, which came out rather quickly, and our server disappeared. After no one came to take our order or even the menu, (20 minutes after our appetizers came out), I flagged down someone to take our order. No one came to refill our drinks. When our orders came out, it was incorrect. Then, toward the end of our dinner my sister noticed her crab was wrapped in plastic! They served her a sushi roll with the plastic still on the crab! Gross! They comped the roll, but still. Plastic in her food. For over $150.00 for a meal and drinks, I expect at least decent service and to be served edible food. Sad. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this location. read more

Food is good, cooks are decent, some are better than others. THE HOST STAFF IS TERRIBLE. Every time I've been here we've had to wait to get seated 15-40 mins past our reservation time. Today we arrived at 6:25 for a 6:30 reservation, just my husband and I (and our 4 month old). We were given a pager and took a seat. After 20 mins we asked about our place, and the hostess asked if everyone in the party was here yet. Uh yes. It was just us two. She asked what our pager number was, we gave it to her and she typed in the number and paged us. So we waited for nothing because the forgot us. Also WHAT IS THE POINT OF A RESERVATION IF YOU ARE JUST GOING TO BE GIVEN A PAGER AND TOLD TO WAIT. Also I'll add these were never busy nights. read more

Horrible experience. We walked in on a Tuesday evening and was told a 20 minute wait. After 30 minutes we asked how much longer. To find out we were skipped over and it would be an additional 20-30 minutes. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told that she was not there. My family and I have been coming for years. We come once a month. Osaka is a very cool experience you get to see your food cooked in front of you and the food is usually phenomenal. Sushi is also amazing the Sooner roll is a must order. The only item I'd stay away from is the chicken because it's usually very dry and bland. The service on the other hand side does not have the same standard as the food. The waiters have too many tables to take care of so your drink will get refilled maybe once if you're lucky and they often forget to bring out the sushi before the food and occasionally mess up an order. The ambiance of restaurant is wonderful seating can be a bit cramped with others around and having to sit with another party if you don't have more than 6 people. Overall Osaka is definitely a place for everyone to try but the biggest downside is service. read more

Last night I had sushi to go. I order rainbow and double shrimp. When I got home and ate both sushi it was the worst sushi ever. Fish was frozen and refrozen so many time it was watery fish. They are using old fish and tasted terrible. I will not be ordering sushi from Osaka anymore. Be aware they are using same fish for days. It's being thawed and refrozen many times. The chef was super entertaining to our party. I'd ask for them to hold the crunchy item they put in salads and in soups next time. Also, don't get the shrimp if you're easily disappointed over texture. It's awful, in my opinion and precooked which makes it easy to over cook. Overall.. I'd say give it a try! read more

We went here for my birthday dinner March 7th. There were 10 of us. It was so very overcrowded. We had a reservation that we made that morning (they won't let you make a reservation until the day of) and we still waited an hour to be seated. The waiter was very annoyed that we wanted to place a drink order while we looked at the menu. He wanted us to just order everything at once. We waited a long time to get the drinks. When we asked the waiter about our drinks he was visibly aggravated. We were obviously having a celebration but our waiter was "all business". Our chef didn't get the right amount for the fried rice so we all had to wait while he went to get and make more. so it was cold. He was definitely just trying to "get through it". The food pretty good, not great. It took forever to finally get another round of drinks and then we waited 30 minutes to get our check. The waiter was outright rude, the bathrooms were disgusting.... I went today with my parents for Father's Day. It was just a horrible experience. No one wants to go out and eat sushi and receive bad service on Father's Day. It looked like they had the sushi area understaffed. I blame poor management. The manager was walking around but never helped out to make sure the floor was running smoothly. He never came to our table to make sure we had everything we needed. We sat at the table for ten minutes until a server finally came to ask for our drink orders. She forgot to get us a few items that we asked for and we didn't get pre-bussed until we were already done eating. The sushi was okay but nothing special. I ordered a seaweed salad that lacked flavor and was super bland. I honestly felt like I was in a cafeteria at a high school. Thank you Osaka for a horrible experience on a special day. read more

Just went there again yesterday since a long time due to living in okc for college but I missed eating here and it did not disappoint! I went with my fiancé and two cousins and got seated promptly and our food came out in a timely manner. Food was delicious as usual. We love coming here. read more

They need to incorporate taking reservations. Called in advance to check the wait time and to reserve--was told 10-15 minutes and to just walk in when asked if I could reserve; had a member of my party arrive early and they were told to let the host know when the full party was here; once we all arrived shortly after, it turned into a thirty minute wait. Ended up heading to another place to eat so we could catch our flight. Could have been avoided if I was allowed to make a reservation when I called. read more

Sad to say our experience was lacking. Our hibachi chef appeared to not care he was at work or act like he wanted to be there. Scallops were almost burned, chewy. Lobster was smashed to the cooktop with his spatula. Veggies were burnt tasting as the cooktop was charred. Don't go in the bathroom! Apparently no one checks them. Toilet paper everywhere, including outside the door. Several stalls without toilet paper. Countertops covered in water and paper towels. We used to really enjoy coming here, but now I am glad Tokyo Gardens is opening a new location near our home! We will be going there! read more

Not a single menu is clean - they're all covered in stains and filth and the hibachi grills look like they have not been cleaned in ages. Horrible service! After waiting for more than 50 mins we finally got a table. Half of my party was coming into the restaurant from parking lot because the lobby was too full to fit all of us. We were missing three people from our party and was told by the manager we had to leave until the rest of our party showed up. I explained that the rest of my party was coming in from the parking lot and they would be here in a minute. The manager told me that they were very busy and didn't have time to wait for the rest of my party. I explained once again that we had waited over 50 mins to be seated. The three members from my party showed up literally 1min after I was seated. Drinks were ordered that never showed up.The staff was EXTREMELY rude to us. As you enter you can tell Management does not care, the entry carpet is dirty. The hostess is very unpleasant, no smile she asked "Would you like to eat at the grill, I answered yes, she said it would a 10 minute wait, one of my pet peeve is having to wait for a table when the restaurant is slow, it was 20 minutes. The waitperson had no personality at all, never smiled, poor service. The grill was dirty before the cook began to cook, should have left. The cleanliness was extremely poor. I really like the atmosphere at Osaka. The cute short but large chairs in the sushi section are cool. My husband and I have been multiple times. I like the green tea. He likes the purple haze saki. They have a small selection of wines, which I appreciate sometimes. As far as food we like to order graduation roll, kamikaze roll, avocado roll, salmon mango roll if your in the mood for something sweet. Ahi tuna niguiri when it is in season they will have it. Plus you can always create your own roll. However, be sure and tell them what you like and what you want to omit. read more

Second, I would rate this one star but the food was edible. Third, the waitress clearly had no interest in making a tip. She didn't check or refill waters a single time until bringing the check. We were so sad when the original Osaka at 51st and Harvard closed. We knew there was a new location, but we had been going to 51st for years and we felt like regulars. Imagine our delight some time later when we finally visited the new location and much of the regular staff was there! The old location had a certain old school charm, but the new location was awesome in every way: modern decor, very spacious, better wine list, bigger waiting area, much better ventilation, the addition of a sushi bar, and non-hibachi seating for those that desire it. The whole feel is more upscale than the previous location. We tried the sushi a couple of times and it was good, but quite frankly we come to Osaka for the Hibachi, and it remains top notch. One really busy night, we were able to get the Hibachi food in the non-Hibachi dining room. While we enjoy the show, it was kind of nice to get the same food in a more chill, relaxed atmosphere without other people at the table. My recommendation is the filet & shrimp. It's the perfect accompaniment to the included veggies, rice (get fried!), and ginger and mustard sauces. Tulsa has several good Hibachi options, but as far as this Yelper is concerned, Osaka is the place to go. So happy to see them going strong in their new location! read more

Different hibachi grill from what I am used to - no big fire show - but I never eat food from the grill anyway. I always eat sushi. This place has two great vegetarian options from what I could find in a short amount of time - the vegetarian roll and the cucumber roll - both delicious! I also ordered the Samurai, and it was not at all what I expected. It was a frozen drink, and I was expecting a whiskey sour type drink. I'm not one for frozen drinks, but it was tasty. Almost reminded me of a piña colada with a twist...if that makes sense...and minus the rum...but add the whiskey... It was interesting. I would recommend this place, most definitely. read more

We went to the hibachi grill anticipating a show. The cook was too soft to hear him. We barely were able to hear him to give him our order. The noise in the restaurant is horrible. Our food was good. The mushroom soup looked like it was prepared for someone in prison. Very sparse. The lady who was supposed to help wait the table disappeared and only came back to give us our check. We were short one bowl of rice. We asked several other wait staff, never saw the rice. Just disappointing for the price you pay. Not going back. read more

This is the first retaurant I went to for dinner when I came to Tulsa. I came here on my house hunting trip and the service and food was amazing! This place may have been a factor to winning me over and moving to Tulsa. I love japanesse steakhouses and this place is delicious! Whether you come for dinner or lunch you will never leave hungry. The prices here are cheaper than any I have ever seen and I have been to MANY steakhouses. They are always so nice here and they even include dessert with your meal. Ive never been so pleased with a restuarant and I always make this my first go-to place for dinner. The sushi as well is wonderful and it is something that has alays been a treat to order. I always get 2 sushi rolls to share and than get my main meal to be the hibachi shirmp and calamari. The price always wins me over and is the reason why i always leave here so stuffed! read more

Following a terrible experience about 6 years ago, I said I would never visit the restaurant again. Fast forward 6 years, my brother and sis-in-law wanted to eat there, so I conceded. After all, since they were still in business 6 years later I assumed something must have changed. You know what they say when you assume... We arrived early and went to the bar for a drink. Most unfriendly bartenders I've ever met. And the drinks could be served to children. They are a splash of liquor topped with an entire hurricane glass of sugary, frozen whatever. The only difference from one drink to the next is the coloring added to it. When my brother arrived we returned to the host stand and requested our reservation. I'm not sure why we bothered to make a reservation as we waited 20 mins for a table. We then ordered a bottle of wine. The wine service was non-existent. The bottle was not opened at the table, nor did the server pour for us. We waited another 20 mins for the hibachi chef. Once he arrived, the food was pretty tasty but the service continued to suffer. As soon as the chef was finished cooking, but while we were still eating the busses began to clear the table even though we said we weren't finished. They couldn't wait to get us out even though it was at least an hour and a half before close and the crowd was thinning out. So, decent food, bad drinks and terrible service sums it up. Not much has changed. It will be at least another 6 years before I can bring myself to return to Osaka again. read more

First, allow me to express my love for hibachi grill. I love it endlessly. Seriously. So I was so happy to discover a new grill/sushi spot close to my home. At first, the service was great! But as the months passed, I noticed the serving staff in the sushi seating area turned horrible. Now I hate going there. Last time I went, I was waiting not only for the water I asked for 20 mins ago but also my to go box for my left overs. I became so impatient that I had to flag down the hostess so she can get my waitress who....by the way, was off texting and eating some where in the back. How do I know this? Because you can see all the servers tucked back there talking and texting away behind us. Arg. When she came back, she didn't even apologized and went back to her phone. Blah.
