The mango dipping sauce was so yummy and added the perfect sweet touch. We also tried the sweet potato appetizer with wasabi dipping sauce, and it was so good! Did you know they have a Happy Hour every day? We went after a performance at the PAC (around 3 PM) and since some of the rolls were only $5, we had a few. It was a frigid walk so I started with some hot green tea. Ask for lemon and honey with it. We also had some edamame to start. it was steamed and seasoned perfectly. I tried the Golden Driller roll and a shitake roll. I would order both again. I also nabbed a piece of the Hot Mess and would probably order that next time. Everything was great. The vegan choices are few and are not anything exciting. It's mostly a selection from the main menu with non-vegan ingredients removed. There isn't anything exciting or original to order for vegans. That said, the stuff my spouse, our vegan friends, and I have ordered has been, for what it is, fine. Fresh ingredients, good rice, etc. So if one sets one's expectations properly, you'll have an acceptable time with the food here. Do not go expecting items created for vegans but rather items meant for others, just without non-vegan ingredients. No added flavor, spices, care, concern... The service is great! No one we've had knows what on the menu is vegan, most didn't know what vegan meant, but were nice and did their best to help us figure out which sauces have fish flakes (like bonito) in them, etc. read more

it's been a decade since my initial review, it hasn't been a decade since my last visit. for the past couple of times, i've had their thai street noodles & (recently) the orange chicken. both were satisfying. the thai street noodles was something i remembered yokozuna wasn't stingy with when it came to the components. i remember being full, i remember plenty of green being on the plate & i remember the coconut peanut sauce stealing the show. i'd get it again. with the orange chicken, i can say the same about getting it again. a good amount of rice, broccoli & chicken. crispy the way i like it, the glaze was for me to pour myself (i had it to-go) & there was plenty of that as well. i've come a long way from coming here on thursdays fresh off of work for the happy hour sushi (it was a ritual at the time). i've stayed away from sushi for some time & yokozuna has everything else covered for when i have a taste for something else (i've also had their pork belly ramen... it was good). between now & 10 years ago, this place has never let me down *knocks on wood*. read more

PRICE SHOCK!!! More for less. Sadly it was not as good an experience as last years due to the menu change (no more cheese wantons, no more orange chicken) and the slice bomb is now 2.00. It use to be free then .50 and now a whooping 2.00! I ordered Flaming Lips sushi -yellowfin and crab with jalapeños. Tasted fishy. Not a happy bite. My company ordered the new drunken noodles. A happy thought drowned in tears as the food came out cold, noodles were tough, and the flavor similar to spicy chicken. The thought of a robust combination of Thai basil Chilli diminished at first bite. It was bad enough to return for something simple...chicken fried rice. Which no doubt, the price of chicken fried rice (15.00) wrestle against the cost of me making my own. This was a moment caught during a depressing time in America. Price up, quality and portion down. fun place that really encapsulates the sumo style. Our waiter was awesome and very accommodating. I got the Taiga Roll which was supremely delicious along with a Flying Lotus which needed a bit more lemon juice, a Hello Sumo, Hello Kitty which was very very delicious and highly recommend and we got their seasonal sake which was also delicious and went down easy. There is metered parking around the restaurant but is free after 5pm. We were part of a big group and our tables were ready when we arrived. We had several waitresses working our 3 tables. The placement of our tables were super close so it was hard for the servers to maneuver to refill drinks or bring plates. I was asked to get up several times so people in the back room could leave. It definitely took away from the experience. The food was really salty. I liked the chicken satay. The egg roll was dry. We had a salad but the dressing took a while to be delivered. I've made a review before because I love this place so much but I've recently tried the kids fried rice and it's so amazingly delicious! It's only got chicken in it but it seems like it tastes so much more flavorful than the adult version and the adult version is really good as well! Definitely checkout the adult version of fried rice and as I always say the tempura shrimp roll is my absolute favorite! Also snagged some super crunchy and amazing crab rangoons! Yokozuna downtown is a special place for me and my wife since it was the spot for our first date. We decided to come back several years later for one of our date nights. We started with pork belly steam buns and crab Rangoon, both were pretty good although the buns were a bit chewy. We also got two cocktails, a frisky sour and a white samurai. The drinks were mediocre, tasted like taking straight shot of liquor. For our main course we got the Chef's choice sashimi and a rainbow roll. The sashimi was great, fresh and neatly presented. There was a nice selection of ahi tuna, salmon, octopus, yellowtail and white fish. The rainbow roll was a disaster. It felt like eating a piece of rice, the fish on top of the roll was so thin and small. It was probably the worst rainbow roll we had in a while. The staff were friendly and attentive and the restaurant had a nice ambience. Unfortunately the rainbow roll and the drinks were so bad we left a little disappointed. Fun selection of sushi rolls here. There are your typical rolls, plus some specialty. Sort of pricey compared even to other sushi spots, but they are excellent. There are some non-sushi fusion rolls with beef and other cooked items. There are some vegan options as well. They also have a few options with soy paper! The samurai roll was my absolute favorite, so much flavor and very fresh. Geishas demise is also great and very spicy. We tried some regular rolls as well, everything was great. I did wish for some more escolar options, though. I appreciated so much that they have low sodium soy sauce. The wasabi Caesar salad was good, but I didn't taste any wasabi. Was looking forward to dining here since we had really enjoyed the quality of the food and overall experience in the past. However, it has been several years since our last visit, and we were disappointed. The ambiance, service, and presentation are still spot on, but the quality of the food was more miss than hit. The crab wonton app was very crabby which got a thumbs up from our table of 4. However, the pork belly steamed buns were a miss. The pork was so tough I thought I might lose a crown, but the sauce was tasty. My seaweed salad was drowning in the soy/ fish sauce mixture to the point I brought it to the server's attention. The sauce overwhelmed the seaweed and dulled my tastebuds requiring me to take a drink of tea and eat some ginger in order to enjoy my spicy yellow roll. The server did offer to replace, but we pressed for time, so I declined. The spicy yellowtail roll was very good and the best of the evening. My wife's Pork ramen lacked flavor; had the same tough pork belly; and the shredded pork had that lack of adequate seasoning pork taste. I reallllly wanted to love this place! I was so excited to see happy hour food deals and it was the perfect place for an evening out. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were great and very attentive. The Sapporo was cold but I thought it was interesting they don't have happy hour drinks deals always available. (I was there on a sunday but the food deals are everyday happy hour deals) the bartender mentioned they sometimes have drink specials but they change often. I ordered a sushi roll, egg rolls, and potstickers. The sushi roll rice to filling ratio was very off, the egg rolls were super greasy and the potstickers didn't have much taste. I so very much wanted to like any of these options but I ate less than half of all of them. The restaurant was a cool place good for big parties or a date or a night out. We went here after our flight. We both shared the edamame (which was during HH prices) and the vegan Thai street noodles. I also got a tea for myself (pictured). Honestly we were really happy with the food and the service. I liked that the noodles had fresh vegetables and it was perfect to share because we were both not hungry. I especially loved how the tea was presented. I had never seen a glass like that before. I would recommend this place to others. It is also great because there seemed to be many vegan and vegetarian options along with non vegetarian items as well. For us, parking was easy. It was street parking, but I think because it was Tulsa, OK there were so many available spots. Prices are extremely reasonable and my meal, Thai Street noodles with chicken (default is Tofu) was excellent. Where it fell short was the quality of the rolls. I got the tuna poke tacos and the flaming lips and both were not of the quality expected. The sauce and flavor on each just wasn't worth more than two bites. The roll combination was off with the yellow tail being overwhelmed by the sauces and missing the partnership in flavor. My first time at Yokozuna and will not be my last! I came in during Happy Hour on a weekday. There were maybe a dozen patrons and I sat at the bar since I was dining alone. The atmosphere was fun, servers and bar tender were attentive. I received my food within 15 minutes, although wait times may be longer when busy due to everything being made to order. The scallop nigiri was fresh. I ordered it "dressed" so it came with balsamic and strawberry garnishes. The garnish clashed with the lightness of the fish, so next time I would order it "original". Had an opportunity to take extended family here on their visit to Tulsa. The reviews were great, but unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed in the service we received at Yokozuna on Sunday. We waited 20 minutes for a booth to be cleaned, and after waiting, a lady in a face mask behind the counter said we should just sit wherever we could because they were busy that day. Once we sat down, we didn't receive our menus until we asked for them. By this point, we had been at the restaurant for over an hour and a half and had not received our appetizer, let alone our meals. When we finally got our entrees, the cherry on top was finding a hair in our Thai drunken noodle dish. After we returned the plate, we asked for the check and were ready to leave. This is when the waiter disclosed that there was only one chef in the kitchen. I hope that chef finds a better place of employment where they aren't expected to serve an entire restaurant alone. This should at least have been disclosed as soon as we walked in. This is no reflection of the chef, as no one should expect great service or food from an understaffed restaurant. Maybe they should consider closing for the night instead of jeopardizing their restaurant's reputation and delivering bad service. read more

My wife were invited to a party at Yokozuna We had reservations for 10 people. We were promptly seated at a long table that was kind of narrow. We ordered Calamari as an appetizer. They were slightly over cooked causing them to be a little tough. But the flavor was good. Everyone (except for 2) ordered a different Sushi that we shared. Each order came with eight sushi rolls on a long platter. We had a good time laughing at a few of us trying to master eating with chopsticks. They did offer forks for those who couldn't master chopsticks. All the sushi was great. But I liked the classic spicy roll. The restaurant appeared clean and the service was great.
