Yokozuna is one of my favorite places to get sushi, but, unfortunately, this was not a great experience. My first tip for a Friday/Saturday night dinner here is to always get reservations because they can get crazy busy. We were immediately seated when we came in. We ordered two appetizers: the fried cauliflower and crispy pork spring rolls. Plus, two sushi rolls: spicy tuna roll and the golden driller roll. Our sushi rolls beat our apps to the table, but it came with the smallest amount of wasabi and ginger, so that was kind of a bummer. The spicy tuna roll was great as always, but the golden driller roll was pretty loose, so it was falling apart. We weren't given any soy sauce, so we had to take some off the empty table next to us. Appetizers came out and the crispy pork spring rolls are good per usual, not very special, but I like the sauce that it comes with. Now, the fried cauliflower...if I could even call it that. The flavor on the cauliflower is absolutely bomb, super flavorful and I could go back for more. BUT, the biggest thing was texture. So. Super. MUSHY. Incredibly mushy, from the batter to the cauliflower itself. We couldn't finish the bowl. Huge bummer given that the flavor was so good. Wish we had a better experience, but Yokozuna still is one of my favorite places for sushi...I might stick with the 91st and Yale location though as I've had better dining experiences there. read more

My wife were invited to a party at Yokozuna We had reservations for 10 people. We were promptly seated at a long table that was kind of narrow. We ordered Calamari as an appetizer. They were slightly over cooked causing them to be a little tough. But the flavor was good. Everyone (except for 2) ordered a different Sushi that we shared. Each order came with eight sushi rolls on a long platter. We had a good time laughing at a few of us trying to master eating with chopsticks. They did offer forks for those who couldn't master chopsticks. All the sushi was great. But I liked the classic spicy roll. The restaurant appeared clean and the service was great. I highly recommend making reservations as they were very busy. The party made it difficult to take good photos. Therefore I didn't publish any read more

My first time at Yokozuna and will not be my last! I came in during Happy Hour on a weekday. There were maybe a dozen patrons and I sat at the bar since I was dining alone. The atmosphere was fun, servers and bar tender were attentive. I received my food within 15 minutes, although wait times may be longer when busy due to everything being made to order. The scallop nigiri was fresh. I ordered it "dressed" so it came with balsamic and strawberry garnishes. The garnish clashed with the lightness of the fish, so next time I would order it "original". The salmon carpaccio was amazing! The garlic yuzu sauce was drinkable, and the salmon was fresh and tasty. read more

Had an opportunity to take extended family here on their visit to Tulsa. The reviews were great, but unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed in the service we received at Yokozuna on Sunday. We waited 20 minutes for a booth to be cleaned, and after waiting, a lady in a face mask behind the counter said we should just sit wherever we could because they were busy that day. Once we sat down, we didn't receive our menus until we asked for them. By this point, we had been at the restaurant for over an hour and a half and had not received our appetizer, let alone our meals. When we finally got our entrees, the cherry on top was finding a hair in our Thai drunken noodle dish. After we returned the plate, we asked for the check and were ready to leave. This is when the waiter disclosed that there was only one chef in the kitchen. I hope that chef finds a better place of employment where they aren't expected to serve an entire restaurant alone. This should at least have been disclosed as soon as we walked in. This is no reflection of the chef, as no one should expect great service or food from an understaffed restaurant. Maybe they should consider closing for the night instead of jeopardizing their restaurant's reputation and delivering bad service. read more

What a joke!? How is THIS the top rated sushi place in Tulsa? I ordered a volcano roll for $21 and this is what they gave me. The rolls aren't even half full... i would say 1/4 full. I guess everyone is hurting financially. Shame you guys lost a huge sushi lover. I would have been your best customer. read more

Worst Japanese food I've ever had. Would give it zero stars if I could. Servers were nice but that was the ONLY positive.

I really love Yokozuna for their drinks and their carpaccios! The sushi rolls are a great, but a little pricy in my opinion, so I love getting items on their menu that I wouldn't get at any old sushi restaurant. This time, we stopped at the Tulsa location to satisfy a salmon craving and got the salmon carpaccio! Service was fast and the food was amazing! Highly recommend this one and the octopus one! read more

The food is always great. I had my favorite, the Golden Driller. I also had the Hot Mess roll. It is fire!! The fried wonton with the sweet drizzle on top is kinda unexpected and unexplainable! It's just great. I had a drink made with lychee sake, I forgot the name, but it reminded me of bath oil! Our server, Riley, was kind enough to replace it and suggest something else. I think that was awesome, IJS. I got a Lemondrop Martini in stead, and it was perfect. We sat outside and enjoyed the good food, atmosphere, and service. read more

Had lunch there the other day. The sushi was really great as always. The tempura sweet potatoes tasted a bit "off", almost like they weren't quite cooked, but maybe that's just me. We were seated promptly and the wait staff was attentive enough. I had some modifications to one of my rolls and as always, that was prepared correctly. I love that they have some "special" rolls in addition to the standard ones. The Nutty Thai Professor is my favorite. read more

We visit this location before PAC shows. We do make reservations in advance, and are always seated quickly. Love the lively atmosphere, but we're still able to hold a conversation at our table. I don't think we've ever had bad service, servers are friendly and helpful with questions about the menu. We'll continue to visit and would recommend to anyone visiting the downtown area. read more

Had lunch at this spot today. Located in Downtown Tulsa, it's a good size restaurant with spacious comfortable tables and booths. My Food was pretty good, although a member of our party got the ramen and that looked great. Will try next time. Good Menu with lots of options for everyone. Very good service from host stand through to the servers. Kept drinks refilled and pleasant to deal with. 4 stars mainly due to portion size, relatively small for a $18 roll. read more

How in the world did such a solid and legitimate sushi bar end up with an overall eating below 4 stars? I just saw a so so sushi bar rated higher than one of Tulsa's finest. Some restaurants are mostly Asian restaurants and serve sushi on the side. Others are solid sushi bars and provide their customers the best quality sushi but have some other Japanese dishes for those who get dragged along but don't want to eat "raw fish." While we were shopping for house and staying with Dan's sister and her husband, they took us to Yokozuna several times. You can't go wrong here. My sister in law knows her sushi. So do I and so our husbands. This is a solid and legitimate sushi and not an Asian cuisine restaurant that decided to add sushi on the side. read more

We came in on a tuesday evening and it wasn't super busy but still good amount. Took over ten minutes for our server to come to the table which i didn't notice at first. Ordered edamame to start and it came, good sized portion. again our server was gone for quite some time which was odd because by that time there was only five or six tables in the restaurant. Ordered food when she came back and it was good. we also ordered a ramen bowl (Not pictured) Portions were good sizes and were fulfilling. Other than the service the visit was good. read more

sushi, sashimi, nigiri. oh my! first time here. this place was very busy. yet, my waitress, was so nice and attentive. I was familiar with sushi, but not sashimi, or nigiri, and had several questions which she was kind and patient enough to answer. decided to try some different sushi options, which were very good. missed the "happy hour" pricing, but prices were still fair. they even honored my birthday coupon/gift card. give them a try. hint: best deals are during "happy hour", make you ah so happy. read more

This place is delicious!! Made a reservation day of for a Saturday night. We got right in we our reservation time. Service was great! We purchased the appetizer sampler plate. It was plenty of food for 4 people to share. We also tried 6 sushi rolls & loved them. The nutty Thai professor was one of our favorites. The stealth was a great veggie option. The fortune cookies are really fun! Make sure you eat them there, some of them have fun games inside to win free saki shots! Fun little bonus. Highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Really great prices in a great location. I was surprised! Our waiter was very kind and congratulatory of my sister and her friend for their college graduation that was to take place that evening. I ordered a couple of rolls and some champagne. The rest of the group ordered actually meals (fried rice, ramen, etc) and the portions were large and they were happy with their meals. It was pretty empty for dinner time on a Saturday, but like I said, it was good, so maybe this was just a fluke! I would go back for sure if that's the type of food I was in the mood for. read more

Funky menu, which seemed like it could be okay, but the strange flavor pairings that were a stretch by any means really made it difficult to enjoy. I enjoy adventurous food, but the preparation and combinations really missed the mark. We ate only about 1/4-1/3 of each of the things we ordered and didn't really care to touch most of it after a bite or two. Edible, not craveable. read more

Love the vibe and the service was great! The food was amazing! Would definitely come back! We ending up taking some fried rice home, the food the next day was even better! If food poisoning doesn't warrant a 1 star I don't know what does. Ordered some food to go and got the salmon poke w/rice, house salad, and the Ika salad. This restaurant was mentioned by someone I met on the plane, and then when I got to my hotel someone else mentioned it so I thought that there must be something to it if more than 1 person is telling me about it... We walked in and were greeted immediately, and given menus as we wanted to just check it out for a moment. We quickly decided we were staying and were given a table. I asked for the booth and was quickly obliged.. Drake was our waiter and before we could ask for waters he offered to bring them to us. He was very promt and I appreciated that. We finally decided to order the Shrimp Pad Thai, and I got some California rolls. The Shrimp Pad Thai was delicious but they went a little heavy on the peanuts so next time I will let them know light.. and my California rolls were very fresh I was glad I picked this stop. Would definitely come back. They also have a brunch menu on Sundays!! read more

This location has been my go-to dining-out spot for about six years now. Before moving to Tulsa, the small town I reign from only had one Asian fusion restaurant, so eating at this place was well worth the hour-long drive. Service here is beyond exceptional, with some of the staff knowing me from my frequent visits. They make me feel extremely welcome, and I've always appreciated that. My dad and friends have all been introduced to this lovely location, with each person having their own preferences. Yoko's varying fusion menu always finds a way to accommodate even the pickiest eaters. One of my personal favorites would be the pork belly ramen, which has a rich Tonkatsu-type broth and hearty pork flavor that can't be beaten. Next would be the sumo fried rice. They make it spicy at your request through various means beyond their typical 'chili bomb' using ingredients like Thai chili peppers or fresh jalapeños, again, at your request. Their purple haze sake is one of my favorite drinks to go with any dish here, and did I mention their happy hour specials? The gyoza and chili oil are to dieee for, and a must-have as an appetizer, although I've ordered multiple rounds as just my meal. This location also introduced me to Miller Lite, which sounds underwhelming and silly but shows how much this place has grown my flavor profile, allowing me to try new, tasty things. Thank you to all the staff and management who've kept this particular location incrEDIBLE! read more

Very basic what you'd expect from Oklahoma sushi. Stale rice and fish that's been sitting out too long

#fatjared say...it was average at best food for me, but the uniqueness of the menu puts this to an above average place to eat. If you don't know, 5 stars on yelp is perfect. So to get a perfect rating from me, you need to be perfect. I stick to that for every review. Yokozuna was good. I enjoyed it and would go back, but it wasn't perfect. The edamame came first, it was good, but not great. Nothing special about it, and not a big portion either. Then we had the beef tenderloin skewers. Those again were good, but a bit chewy, and not spectacular. I'll say though, having that as an option was really cool at a sushi place, and goes well together. The peanuts added were a good addition. We also ordered the tempura sweet potato fries, and deviled wasabi eggs. Both were AMAZING! The sauces with the sweet potatoes were incredible. and just enough wasabi with the deviled eggs. When it came to the sushi, I thought it was a great option to test the chef, and get a chefs choice roll. I gave him the flavors I was looking for, and he brought something out. It checked off what i had asked for, but again taste wise not amazing. Above average, and the fact that they can do that like they do at a speak easy is awesome! My wife got the northside. It was good. Not overpowered by sauce which I like, and seemed fresh. We then ended with dessert. The mochi ice cream was phenomenal! You get 3 different flavors, and the strawberry and green tea were outstanding. Overall, the food I would say was only slightly above average, but the uniqueness and overall menu experience with the originality of the flavors make it very very good. I enjoyed it and would go back, but I have definitely had better sushi! read more

We went in for dinner last night. The rolls were horrible. None were cut evenly, and every roll we tried was void of flavor. And then let's talk tough seaweed and the lack of fillings! Three words... Yokozuna Happy Hour. If you're looking for a great deal on sushi downtown.. this is where you want to be. From 2-5 they have multiple rolls half off that pop in your taste buds and fill your belly up! This has become a bi-weekly tradition for me and my tribe. The golden driller, hot mess, and California rolls have become a staple in our weekend diet. Not only because they taste delicious with spicy mayo & eel sauce, but because we get about 5 rolls of sushi for under $30. The customer service is always on point as well. Even when there are large groups flooding in the waiters communicate with us to let us know the status of our food. My man Tommy has taken care of us the last two times we've come and even remembered the sauces we like to get on side of our sushi. Yokozuna is a Tulsa gem, and happy hour is the jewel in its crown. We really like this place. The only decent sushi in Tulsa. We took our daughter to celebrate her 19th birthday. The server was nice, but completely nonresponsive. Very difficult to get service. One example: we needed bowls for our soy sauce, but couldn't find her. I walked over to the sushi bar and got our bowls. She was standing in the prep area and saw me, but did nothing. At the end of our dinner, we had to move our dishes to the next table in order to open presents. No response.
