Three of us went to Osaka for lunch today. It was the first time my wife and I had been there but the third in our group had been there before. Upon entering the main entrance and getting our buzzer for a 5 to 10 minute wait, I was horrified when I looked up at the ceiling lights and noticed that the tops of the light shades apparently have not been cleaned any time in the last decade. They were disgusting. I then went into the men's bathroom to wash my hands and there were paper towels all over the floor and it just had a smell that I found quite unappealing. Not the cleanest bathroom I've ever been in, that's for sure. After that shaky start we were seated at a Hibachi table and waited a few minutes for a few more people to be seated at that same table. Menus were delivered by an efficient server, drink orders were taken and delivered fairly quickly. Our hibachi chef was quite personable and had a funny attitude. When I told him that this was our first time there and that I expected him to put on quite a show he replied that this was his first day. It was a joke. He then proceeded to dazzle us with his handy work with a knife and spatula. It was quite amazing. I particularly enjoyed the onion volcano. I ordered teriyaki steak as a lunch special and it was only about $12. It was cooked perfectly medium rare as I had requested. With everything you get with that including fried rice, vegetables (mushrooms, zuchinni, onions), bean sprouts and a nice salad with an orange ginger dressing that was amazing, I'd have to say it was one of the best values in a restaurant I've had in a long time. I actually can't wait to go back because it was entertaining, the food was delicious and it's a unique experience. What absolutely needs to be improved is the cleanliness of the entranceway and the bathrooms. If I hadn't been so hungry I might've turned around and left before even experiencing the food due to the initial impression. read more

Food was really good. Freshly made and well prepared. We had the Raider Roll, Rainbow Roll, teriyaki steak and hibachi steak. I wasn't too impressed with the service. Service staff literally dropped the plates on the table. Friendly, but seemed annoyed or frustrated. Well decorated and clean tables. Not too noisy! Enjoyed the monitor that showed how the various rolls looked. Overall we were very happy with the meal. We'll have to come back to try the Hibachi tables. read more

Sadly, today, I was disappointed in my meal. The sushi roll was good as always, but I decided to try the chicken for the first time and it was dry and overcooked. Also, the waiter was just hanging out by the computer and my food came out and by the time they brought it to me, it was cold. They need to say something when they put the food out or at least have the waiter pay attention because I saw my food sitting there and it was a little bit before it was brought to me and I was worried and I was right to be the chicken was overcooked dry did not have much flavor. I had to drown in sauce and though they gave a good portion, it was just not very edible. The first time I came here everything was perfect. However I went there for lunch around 2 o'clock in the afternoon, the restaurant was not crowded. There was plenty of servers yet our service was not great. My dining partner had to get up and ask for a refill for his tea. I did not get sauce for my steak hibachi until I asked. The lunch sets are reasonably priced especially on the weekend. $12.50 for salmon. I asked if the lunch sets includes the hot green tea. The waitress said it is only for dinner. I said I only want it if it's complimentary. My husband ordered the steak and scallop (dinner). The waitress reiterated that the hot green tea is only for dinner. We asked her if my husband's order was dinner. We ended with a small pot of hot tea for both of us and were charged for it ($2.50). Did not get any refills. The tea was lukewarm and was just enough for four small teacups. Everyone was waiting around for our check after we were done eating and the ice cream was not served. Honestly the hibachi can be hit or miss, the first time I went it was amazing but the second time I went back the hibachi chef used wayyy too much soy sauce and everything was way too salty. I love that they also have normal sit down tables though since that's my favorite way to eat there. It's a bit quieter and less packed. Their sushi is so fresh and amazing, I'm a bit picky when it comes to sushi and theirs is one of my favorites in Tulsa so far. read more

I visited Osaka on November 20th, 2023 for a Thanksgiving office lunch party with about 14 co-workers. Though I've visited other Hibachi grills, it was my first time visiting this location. My boss suggested it so it must have been good. Naturally, it did not disappoint. I arrived close to 11:45am and waited for the rest of the party. Almost exactly at 12pm, given the party size, we were seated at 2 separate tables. The restaurant was marvelously fitted with Christmas decorations that included Japanese light fixtures, lit spruces, decorated wreaths and a huge Christmas tree with presents underneath. It all was accented well with red chairs and wooden tables throughout. We were seated at the grills which has windows along the walls, allowing for plenty of natural lighting. The waitress brought water to the group and took everyone's order one-by-one. She had a true urgency about her and it felt like she truly cared for our experience and every individual at the table. I ordered chicken & shrimp fried rice. The hibachi chef came shortly after we were seated and begin doing his thing! We all know what the hibachi show will be and, yet, I'm still captivated by it each time. He performed the onion fire tower/volcano, shrimp tosses, egg catch-then-crack, the works (etc.)! "Hooray" yelled the party. Within it all, the fried rice heart was perfectly portioned to those who ordered it, including me. When the show was over, I enjoyed my tender-cooked shrimp and chicken. The rice was soft and bouncy, a perfect compliment to the protein. I left beyond satisfied with my experience. In fact, I've been waiting for the right occasion to return! Asian food, especially Japanese cuisine, is always a treat. But when you combine the comfort of the food with outstanding service, exquisite ambiance and a captivating showmanship, it becomes a worthwhile experience. This was our first time to visit Osaka since they first opened. We were happy with the service from our waiter and impressed how huge this place is! We were there on a Friday evening and the wait was was not long! Our cook was Sebastian and he was entertaining and engaged with the customers. The food he prepared was seasoned well and done to perfection. I had Hibachi Shrimp, really tasty and my wife had Hibachi Lobster. It was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. No fishy smell like some other places we have visited. We will definitely visit again soon and recommend this restaurant. The Hibachi menu includes your choice of protein but also includes salad, soup, fried rice, vegetables with bean sprouts. No noodles like other Hibachi style. Choice of ice cream flavors. I used to frequent Osaka for the hibachi, but I have recently stopped visiting because of the service. I ordered the Osaka Favorite to go which is filet mignon and lobster. However, the "lobster" I received was shrimp. I know they usually provide shrimp in addition to what is ordered, but I received mostly shrimp and very little lobster. I called to have the issue rectified and was told that I apparently didn't know the difference between the two. I decided to stop eating here due to this. The food is consistently good and well prepared. I LOVE the fried rice, but I would recommend dining in and eating at the hibachi grill so that you're able to see what you've ordered being cooked. My husband and I were attending his friend's birthday dinner. The inside is very nice and the set up around the grill was nice and cozy. You are able to see all of the tricks with the food without the view being obscured. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very efficient and helpful. The food was all delicious. They brought us a small salad with a house dressing that was sweet with ginger in it that was pleasing. They also had a sort of broth soup with mushrooms and onions that was good. Then came the main course that is prepared in front of you. After we ate (we all needed to go containers) they brought dessert! You had your choice of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry ice cream. I had a horrifying experience at Osaka restaurant that I'll never forget. On Sunday, my family and I went there for my birthday celebration. When I received my scallops, they looked suspiciously undercooked. Despite my concerns, the chef insisted they were fine. Unfortunately, I trusted him and shared a few with my husband. Within hours, we were both violently ill with food poisoning. My husband's symptoms lasted a day, but mine dragged on for two miserable days, forcing me to seek urgent medical attention. The doctors confirmed it was food poisoning from the undercooked scallops. When I contacted the restaurant to report the incident, I was met with utter disrespect. The owner/manager refused to identify himself and flatly denied any wrongdoing. They refused to take responsibility or offer any compensation for the severe illness they caused. I lost pay for two days of not being able to work as well. I've filed a complaint with the health department and urge others to avoid this unprofessional and dangerous establishment. I am going to assume anyone who rates this place highly has not enjoyed their main competitor, Tokyo Garden. My pros and cons are comparing it to TG'a hibachi. Pros - Nice, modern atmosphere. - Hibachi tables are larger/newer. - You receive more shrimp. Cons - No garlic sauce. This was the largest disappointment to me. - No noodles apart from the fried rice. You receive bok choy instead. - Service was slower. We waited at least 20 minutes to order drinks on a Tuesday night at 8:30pm. They could at least take drink orders even if the food needs to wait. - Cabernet by the glass tasted horrible. - Salad was not as good; pre-made and was soggy. The bar area was not impressive, it was not well maintained or clean. The bar was located back in a strange secluded area close to the kitchen. Lastly the restrooms are located at the entrance and they were filthy with clogged toilets and paper everywhere, they smelled so strongly you could smell them when you walked in the front entrance of restaurant. UPDATE: 06/25/2022 They now have hibachi available in the main area again! :) OSAKA is delicious and my favorite restaurant. I just would avoid the hibachi craziness unless you've never watched it before. UPDATE 1/4/2019: Osaka was our absolute favorite restaurant in Tulsa and they ruined themselves for us tonight. They are no longer allowing you to order hibachi from the traditional seating area. The only reason we recommended it (despite the horrendous wait times and too small waiting area) was because you could get around the long wait by sitting on the other side. We no longer have that option so we will only be coming every once in awhile for sushi from now on. Seriously sucks Osaka. Please reconsider this terrible chan Osaka is my favorite place in the Tulsa area to eat and my favorite place to get sushi. The Graduation Roll is to die for. The hibachi show is always fun but the most recent time I went, my fiancé and I sat at a two seater table and got hibachi food without the show. I honestly liked it so much better. The main food was all presented at once (soup and salad still came first) so the rice and veggies didn't get cold before I got my meat. Tried a lava roll and loved it also. GO HERE!
