We stopped in for sushi Happy Hour. Thursday's Happy Hour offerings were the Dunwell and Some Like it shot rolls. Of the two, we preferred Some Like it Hot. The Dunwell roll has cream cheese. I used to like cream cheese on sushi rolls, but I've grown to believe cream cheese is for bagels and sushi beginners. Most of us start with California and Philly rolls and graduate to the raw stuff. Their Thursday appetizer is the hot krab roll. It a baked krab stick rolled in soy paper. I forget the other ingredients. I liked it, but Dan liked it more than I did. We shared a $5 hot saki and each got a $2.50 Miller Lite. The ambiance on the patio was amazing. Nice weather, nice view, well decorated, and fun conversation. Horrible service, waitress was Mia most of the meal. We had to get up and find her multiple times for drinks, to order, etc. Food was cold and took nearly an hour from the first brought to the table to the last. They were not busy. The sushi experience was quite normal, good solid offerings in sushi, sashimi, etc. prices are what you'd expect. I think their service excels though. Attentive, informed, and helpful. The atmosphere is a nice modern vibe. Parking is available in a couple of levels. We ordered a bunch of stuff including the citrus crunch edamame, blackened tuna sashimi, dunwell roll, cody 2 roll, nirvana roll, and some nigiri. Everything was perfect. Was this restaurant packed? Yes. Was the food good? 3 / 5. Ok, we came here on a Saturday night. It was rainy outside, and we still had to wait 45 mins for a table as the restaurant was super busy. Right off the bat, my intuition told me I won't be impressed by this place, and unfortunately, that proved to be true. The floors were dirty and the tables were wobbly. However, our waitress was nice enough to try to fix it for us. The layout of the restaurant was also not optimal because when people were walking around, it almost felt like they were on top of you. The menu was funny because they were essentially all American-style rolls. A Japanese person would likely find it disrespectful, as half of the rolls had cream cheese in them. I ordered the rainbow roll (chef's choice) and the oh my goodness roll. The fish did surprise me a bit because it tasted fresh if you compare it to Kirin (trash) and Yokozuna (extra trash). They didn't overly stuff the sushi with rice, which was great. Although it wasn't compact enough, because half of the rolls fell apart. Overall, the sushi quality was passable for Tulsa, but this would be subpar compared to other major cities. The one good thing I would say is the front patio has a nice view, and it would be a nice spot for a drink and maybe some appetizers. Really disappointing and scary experience. The staff confirmed my husband's shrimp allergy before ordering, but after a 45+ minute wait, they brought him the completely wrong roll even though he ordered one that did not include shrimp and it was filled with shrimp and he almost ate it. This could have been life threatening, yet the response was minimal and we got a quick apology and nothing more. When we tried to find our waitress, another staff member was rude and unhelpful. Overall, the lack of care and seriousness around food allergies was unacceptable, and we won't be returning. read more

First off I want to say that I had a really fun dinner with friends here. The patio had a nice breeze and it was shaded well, which i appreciate. Our server, Gentry, was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. I haven't been to this location in a very long time since I live downtown so it was fun to check it out again. Why am I giving this visit 3 stars? The food. Me and two other friends ordered the ITR large salad as our meal. It was $15. And I can't believe I paid 15 bucks for what was mainly a massive heap of shredded lettuce. There were some crunchy bits in there somewhat and maybe 3 tiny pieces of dried out shredded chicken and that was it. I have had this salad many times at other locations and it was always so much better. This was disappointing and frankly, a rip off. All 3 of our salads looked like this, not just mine. I'm not sure if it was the location or what but I'm not sure if I'll ever order it again which is disappointing. I included a picture of my epic mass of shredded (mostly) iceberg. I can't believe how bad this place has gotten. It's been years since I've been and was so excited to go back and get my favorite things. Well to my disappointment, the food wasn't anything like it used to be. Flavorless, fishy, messy and gross. The place was not busy at all but our waitress acted like we were inconveniencing her by just existing. She was beyond rude and would disappear and none of the other servers would help us. We sat with empty drinks and empty water glasses for about 30 minutes. We couldn't even find anyone to get our check! Waitress finally shows up, slams the ticket down and says "you didn't want anything else right? I'm trying to get out of here." (we were hours away from closing, fyi) We will never return to any ITR, there are so many better sushi places in Tulsa now. I was just shocked at the service beyond all else. Love this beautiful location on the hill. We made reservations for 3 early in the week but they had us scheduled back in a corner booth. After speaking with the hostess, & the restaurant mostly empty, she moved us to a perfect table by the window. It was a 25th Anniversary Celebration. We all ordered the crusted haddock. Three orders of the exact same dinner. Repeated ourselves 3 times, same meal. After a nice wait Our waitress brought us... Ready for it?.....3 salmon dinners. We pointed out the mistake &...oh... of course....she wrote it down wrong. (This was around 7:30 before a crowd got there.). She apologized but we didn't feel we should wait for another meal to be cooked. We decided to keep what she served as the table was reserved for another group at 8:45. Dinner was nice but the view spectacular! As the rain storm came in, Fireworks were set off early & we enjoyed a magnificent aerial show & wonderful desserts. What I like about In The Raw is that though it's mainly a sushi place, there's also a decent amount of other things to choose from. I also appreciate how the sushi isn't all expensive, and there are some rolls that cost less. The pricier rolls are worth it though, since they do have a lot more going on and the portion is bigger. My mom and I split two rolls- the g2 and the keaton. There was some kind of sesame flavored crunchy stuff on top of the g2 that was super delicious, and really made it stand out. I was also surprised with how many different flavors I tasted in the keaton roll, and the pink soy paper made it so cute and unique-looking! We also had calamari for the whole table to share. The texture and the flavor was great! I especially liked the sauce drizzled on top. It was a little crowded and pretty loud inside, but it almost helped contribute to this cool "in the city" type vibe that it had going on. I'm wavering between a 2 and a 3 star review. Settled on 3 only bc our waitress was VERY good. She well earned the 20% tip I gave her but the meal wasn't worth the $66 dollars (including a $11 tip). The shrimp appetizer was good but honestly Fish Daddy's version is better. Cody roll was pretty good (as in Just OK!). Tuna nachos also "pretty good" but VERY bland. I used the minuscule amount of wasabi and ginger that came with the boring sushi to spice things up and then it was very enjoyable. Mike got the ITR salad. Interesting side note is, we've had their unique salad MANY times over the last 25 years and loved it. When the server sat it down she told us they're going to start bottling and selling the dressing. That's interesting bc Mike didn't finish his salad. Now, hubby is a big guy and an eater. He runs every single day bc he loves a great meal. When he didn't finish the salad I was surprised. Normally his plate is clean after he eats, lol. So I tried a bite. Then a second bite on a different side of the plate. BORING. SO BORING. And, back to the dressing... there wasn't dressing on his salad. None. Not a drop. So. Now that I started this review with 3 stars, I'm lowering it to 2. I appreciate their Covid rules. So they get some credit there. And, the service was very good. So, 2 it is. We honestly won't be back, after 20ish years of great support. There are plenty of Covid safe restaurants in Tulsa, and you can't guarantee the future service will be as good. Me and the middle stopped in for a quick lunch. Let me preface this by saying we were actually hungry as people tend to be at any given mealtime. We meander our way up the drive to the sushi atop the hill. Really pretty place and I bet it's cooler at night. The interior was clean and slick. The staff was uninterested but that kind of went with the atmosphere. The menu was a bit of a let down. Typically you're overwhelmed but the roll options but this was not the case. Also I wasn't sure why to add shrimp to a bowl was an additional $12?!? But I digress. The waitress said the rice and noodle bowls were large enough to share that the portions were "large". So we split a Candy roll, fried rice, and spicy noodles. Seeing the size of the rice and noodles I really was confused as to what $12 of shrimp looked like. Must have been some super special shrimp! The Candy roll was bland. I didn't taste the spicy sauce at all. I always get a side of eel sauce and theirs was the super thick and salty kind. I prefer mine syrup like and sweet. The fried rice was really good but I was disappointed in the portion size. It was the size you would expect on an entree but not as a separate order. The spicy noodles will knock you on your tush! Under regular circumstances I would have stopped after the first bite but I was really hungry. I like spice but not the atomic is more important than taste kind of heat. Overall this is a hard pass for me. read more

Normally I love this place... I usually go for dinner. However, my family and I decided to go for lunch. I decided to try something new, but still wanted to get the soup I always order that's not on the menu.. When the waitress came over to take our orders, she seemed annoyed that she was working and wasn't the friendliest. I asked for the miso soup Megan style, which is just a spicier version with cheese and rice. The waitress acted very confused and said that wasn't on the menu.. I obviously knew this because I ALWAYS ORDER IT. I told her I was aware and tried to describe it. She proceeded to say that "she has worked there for over a year" and "hasn't heard of it..." Frustrated, I said forget it. Then I ordered one of the lunch bento boxes. I read on the menu it said no substitutions or additions... but I do not like sesame seeds and I never have. I asked if they could just leave off the sesame seeds and the waitress declined...? She proceeded to point to the menu where it said no substitutions.. and I told her that I saw that and wanted to know why taking off sesame seeds was such a big deal? Like what do they make the rolls for the bento boxes in the morning and then they just sit around all day?? In conclusion, she said she could not ask the sushi chefs to NOT put sesame seeds on the few pieces of California roll. So I ended up just not eating one of the four sections of my box..... pretty disappointing. I didn't get my soup and I regretted ordering something new... I ate at In the Raw South about one week ago, and I have been wondering when I will get to go back there and have some more sushi and sit on the patio! For a leisurely lunch on a Friday afternoon, I sat on the gorgeous patio overlooking Tulsa and sipped a French 75. I ordered the candy rolls and they were quite good - tasty beds of seafood salad blended to a paste and rolled into tidy rolls. These are not quivering pieces of raw flesh. I also tried to see with salad and it was quite delicious as well! Speaking of quivering pieces of raw flesh, I was surprised to see that there was no nigiri on the menu or any sort of raw sushi, so to me this is not a true sushi restaurant but more of a "rolls" place. Maybe sushi light? Disappointing for a magu, but there's nothing wrong with that, and I can't wait to go back and try some more rolls! Stopped here for a late dinner with friends tonight. What I liked was the location because it sits on top of a hill overlooking a lot of Tulsa and the vegetable tempura. That's pretty much it. The ambience of the restaurant is great, but the service was a bit slow and ITR salad was weak. It was shredded bagged lettuce with a ginger dressing that saturated it so much it made it soggy and slimy. Seven dollars for a half order was way too expensive for this dish. Amazing view!! Patio is a great place to watch the sunset while having some sushi and cocktails. The inside is extremely noisy and would recommend sitting outside if you can. Went once for dinner during the week and the waitress was very clumsy, dropped things, brought wrong drinks with the excuse " they never trained us on the drinks", and then brought the check before we were even finished eating (we would have stayed and dank more) because she " had a migrane". The food was good, so came back. It was a busy Friday night after 8:00, but the service once again was lacking. The waitress greeted us very briskly asked what we wanted to drink. My dad and I were ready but my sister wasnt sure, but instead of offering a drink suggestion, she said she'd " come back" rather rudely. The food came out in a timely manner and the tuna wonton nachos were amazing! The drinks just took so long! They ran out of sake cups, so the server came and apologized but left my sisters martini and her boyfriends beer sitting by the bar for over 10 minutes while she waited for cups for the sake, when we would have preferred for her to at least bring the drinks that were ready rather than leaving them sit.
