Happened to be in Claremore on an errand not to far from Tokyo so I decided to drop in and give them a try. As good as all the sushi sounded (and looked from the pictures posted) I instead opted to give the beef udon a try. I also opted for some crab rangoon apps, which were quite good. The udon was spectacular. The beef was tender and plentiful, and the related ingredients were well proportioned. What most impressed me about the dish was the perfectly executed sauce. Lots of places get heavy handed with the sauce, or in some cases, think that a flood of oyster sauce is good enough. Not so in this case. The sauce was just enough to enhance the dish overall without overdoing it. If their udon is this good, I gotta come back and try the sushi and other items. read more

While in Claremore visiting family, we were searching for Asian restaurants and discovered Tokyo Japanese Steak House & Sushi Bar! The restaurant ambiance was quaint and dark, the food was served in a timely manner and tasted great, and our server was pleasant and attentive! We enjoyed our dining experience, but felt the food prices were slightly high and the menus were in need of cleaning. We ordered 2 hibachi dinners, a salmon poke bowl, and a side of edamame. Our total bill was approximately one hundred dollars plus tip. Overall, it's a nice place to go and I would return. read more

For the price I was not impressed. I ordered salmon and steak. The steak was supposed to be medium rare and came out closer to medium done. The salmon was probably three maybe 4 ounces and the steak was probably about 5 ounces very little food for the price. The crab wontons were out today and the salmon sushithat we ordered had a fishy smell and taste to it not pleasant. The service was outstanding for the price we could've went to Asiana twice for what we spent here. read more

This is usually our go to place for not only a relaxing place, but also for special occasions. My son gets us a gift card to here sometimes because he knows how much we enjoy it there. Quiet and comfortable with great wait staff. The food is always fresh and the few times that I have ordered the sushi, it too is fresh and prepared as it should be. Large sushi menu. This little place tucked in a small shopping center is a gem. I have been here several times and their food is packed with major flavor. I really love their salmon bento box. The salmon is slightly crispy and exquisitely cooked. It's drenched with teriyaki sauce and sits on a bed of veggies. The gyoza that comes with the bento is fabulous and sits on a salty savory gyoza sauce. Their Hawaiian roll is one of the best rolls I've had. It has coconut shrimp and mango. Pretty unusual but it's Pretty darn great as "sushi". Just like any restaurant, you gotta choose the right things from the menu. I've had a couple other of their rolls and they were meh.. but besides that, it's a great place to chow down especially for a small community like Claremore. read more

I have eaten at Tokyo three times in the last year. I love sushi and sashimi so was excited to have a Japanese steak house open up so close I've found the food to be good but note a few oddities. I don't suggest purchasing the sushi and sashimi via the ala cart menus. For $5 you get about 4 bites of food (very expensive). If you order a sashimi bento box it comes with tempora shrimp as well as a small sushi roll but very little sashimi. Not sure what the thought was there Overall I would rate at 3 stars. Average but expensive for a small town Japanese steak house. Doesn't begin to compare with the "better" houses in larger cities. Would I eat there again ? Maybe if I didn't have 25 min to drive to Owasso or Tulsa where there are several much better for the same price. read more

Sushi is great especially location wise. We've been here a few times and never had any issues. Recently went for lunch and our waitress was Raven. We got our check and paid with a debit card. I left her $15 tip in cash. Once we left the restaurant I checked my account via my phone maybe 10 minutes later and noticed the amount shown on my statement was different than what I had signed for. We went back in to confront the issue. Raven went to "get the manager" and shortly came back saying this happened to a customer a few years back and that the amount should be corrected tomorrow and to call us if it wasn't. 48 hours later the correct amount showed up in my account but it seems she double dipped. If we ever go back I'll only be paying in cash but I doubt I'll return there. We are very sad because the owners and other waiters/waitresses have been great along with their food. The food was delicious! I had shrimp tempura! Got salad, soup , fried rice and main course was 6 tempura shrimp with about 6/7 pieces of vegetable tempura! Veggies were sweet potato, zucchini, onion And broccoli! I asked for no on mushroom tempura ! Brother in law had the steak teriyaki and sister had seafood teriyaki! My meal and brother in law 'a meal was $15 and sisters was around $18. She had salmon, shrimp and another fish on her platter !! They give you lots of food ! For being in a small country town they have really good sushi. The specialty rolls are full of ingredients and aren't cheap looking and skimpy. They really use good ingredients and the presentation is good as well. I've only had sushi here so far but looking around on other tables I see steak and chicken with bento boxes and portions look good and looks very tasty. The environment is good and upbeat. Lighting is smooth and a peaceful place. Neat place for late night or last minute date option with your partner. The service is prompt and very pleasant. They seem to want to make sure you have a good experience and overall this place is very clean and neat with nice people and above average food. Limited bar and plenty of beer. I would not hesitate to repeat this place again. On the 10 scale I'd give the sushi a 7 and that's good to me. You'll be happy you went. read more

The staff was friendly and the selection in the sushi boat for two was tasty and firm, not warm and mushy like some landlocked sushi joints. We traded the sushi rolls for ones without crab sticks, sauces or anything else that might be tainted with MSG and I faired just fine with my organic tamari brought from home. No MSG reaction at all. But the ambience was heavily tainted with too many TV's and the most gawd awful, mediocre, talentless hack-filled pop "music". Such a tragedy among middle class sushi joints. read more

So glad there is a sushi option in Claremore! I would have been happy with average, but it is actually really good. I've had sushi in probably 10 different countries, including many times in Japan, as well as all over the US and the sushi here compares well to anywhere I've been.
