We met our granddaughter and her boyfriend for Happy Hour. They were shopping on Brookside. The kids loved the edamame and the hot crab roll. Aside from that, they ordered things off the Happy Hour menu and were pleased. Dan and I got the 2 Happy Hour rolls. We would have loved "Some Like it Hot" without the hot sauce. The Dunwell roll is good if you like cream cheese in sushi rolls and many people do. There was a time when Dan and I loved that but now our sushi preference is nigiri and our roll preference is whatever is the closest thing you can get to nigiri. We also don't like signature cocktails. We prefer both our drinks and our sushi to be as close to pure as we can get: martinis and nigiri . We frequently attend Happy Hour at a different In the Raw. We find the service and ambiance better where we usually go. The sake at Brookside was not good. It had kind of a soapy taste. We got domestic beers for our second drinks. We forgot to ask for glasses. Service was slow so we just drank them from the bottle, which we hate to do. The main plus for the Brookside restaurant is the location. During warm weather, the outdoor seating is fun. We had a fun evening with our granddaughter and her wonderful boyfriend. My advice to diners is to ask for the Happy Hour menu anytime you go to any restaurant between 2 PM and 7 PM. This isn't the only restaurant that has a Happy Hour but doesn't promote it. Amazing gem. I like adventure and I like discovering what the locals already know is amazing. I saw "Raw" and went in. The weather was beautiful so I sat on the back patio. Fresh, thinly sliced salmon nigiri and a delicious burst of flavor dish with Mandarin oranges wrapped inside white fish. It was crunchy, savory, umami and sweet. This is one of the go to sushi spots in Tulsa. They have a few rolls/options that I quite like, but some of the other options, particularly the nigiri options are somewhat underwhelming for me. I think that amongst Tulsa sushi options, this is towards the top, somewhat similar to Yokozuna for me. However, Yokozuna does have better nigiri/sashimi options which makes me prefer it. My go to order here now is a carnival roll (not on the menu but always available if you hahha ask and is $18ish, has a mix of things, tuna, jalapeño, cream cheese, etc. & is tempura fried with a lot of sauces), the ITR salad (the half portion is quite large), and a miso soup. I actually love the miso here. It has a lot of mushrooms which I like. The dressing on the ITR salad is great, and it's very chopped and fresh each time I get it. If you want a roll on the menu and like eel, I also think the nirvana roll is pretty good. If you're with another person or more, the some like it hot combo is also a nice option. Lastly, their lunch bento boxes are a pretty good deal! The ambiance here is fun. It's dim, and feels a little bar-like. Something that knocks down my ranking here is the service. Most times I go it just feels a little disjointed. All of the servers are nice, but sometimes they seem a little confused (maybe there's a lot of new hire turnover?). Also, my main issue is that the food can take forever to come out. On my last trip I waited 40+ minutes in between my appetizer and rolls coming out. This leads me to believe they just don't have enough sushi chefs to keep up with the business of the restaurant. That's not something the servers can control at all, but is something that could be adjusted at the manager/owner level. One final tip is that their catering/pickup orders are pretty good! Walking down the street on a nice sunny day. I heard some live music and the patio was calling me out . Sat at the bar and ordered their mule, rainbow roll and fish and man oh man the rainbow roll was huge and delicious! Fish tacos were a huge portion as well as someone that has visited San Diego and lived in Miami I know and love my fish tacos. These were good but not a huge fan of the cornmeal batter personally. The ITR mule was a nice twist on the classic mule. Service was 10/10 the bartender Rachel was attentive, personable, working hard and kept checking on everyone can't say enough good things about her. Overall great outdoor dinning experience that put me in SoCal, Florida vibe. My one advice for the restaurant is install one of those sail sunshades from the end of the container to about the middle of the restaurant, while I enjoy the sun, the orientation of the patio makes it umber for people to set and caused a lot of people to move, the staff can't barely see the POS screen because of it. We enjoyed our first time visit here! We were seated outside on a beautiful afternoon. Their miso soup with mushrooms and green onion was super duper tasty! The Diablo shrimp was the bomb!!! It was sweet, salty, and can feel a bit heavy after having a few of them...but what a start! The In The Raw combo came with 3 rolls (one was the High Roller, how can you forget the name??;), the other roll had Eel, cucumber and cream cheese. What a combination!! They were all SO fabulous! The next time, it took even longer, but they had a huge backlog of pick-up orders waiting in line. We gave them another chance and I took my bridal party here. It took 2 hours to get our food. I get sushi cravings in all states. In the Raw was good sushi at an affordable price. They offered a squid salad and other favorites of mine. There is alcohol. The restaurant had the sushi bar ambiance where one can watch the chefs at work. Our server was friendly and knowledgable. She got us to buy a 27 layer matcha cake slice for eighteen dollars. I didn't know what matcha tasted like and I hated it. However, if you don't try new food items; you will never know what you like. It was the most beautiful piece of cake as green is my favorite color but not for me. Brian and our host (Amber) ate it. She didn't look thrilled either. Parking is in a lot and bathrooms were clean. My boyfriend and I stopped by here to grab some sushi and a beer, and we were told that the only immediate seating available was outside. We were fine with that because we were super hungry and the weather was great! We were seated by a large box fan, and it was extremely loud, so it made it hard to hear each other and have a conversation. It took a while for our server to greet us, but she was kind. She didn't tell us her name. I feel she might have been overwhelmed as we were waiting to order for a good 10 minutes or so. We ordered the High Roller Combo, which had 3 rolls- the nirvana, ID roll, and volcano. It did take about 30 minutes to get to our table, however it was so good! My favorite was the Volcano roll, with scallops on top and a sweet and spicy sauce. Mouth watering and so tasty. They also put tons of ginger on the plate, which was awesome! I always have to ask for extra ginger, so it was great that they had plenty on there! Overall the experience was 3 stars, mainly for the food. I went to in the raw on Brookeside the other night because I had heard so many great things. However, I was definitely not impressed. The servers seemed awkward and like they didn't entirely know what they were talking about when I asked about different rolls. I ordered the side salad. It was MASSIVE but the dressing was extremely odd and it just didn't taste right. I would absolutely pass on the salad and never get it again. I also got the candy roll. To clarify for anyone who hasn't read any reviews by me, I WILL NOT give 5 stars if I have any complaints whatsoever. 5 stars is perfect, and if I have a complaint, it's not perfect. For a sushi place, you have to have good edamame. ITR edamame was not my favorite. And that's saying a lot because it's hard to screw that up. WAYYY over-seasoned. When we order edamame, if it will be that heavily doused in pepper and garlic, then we should have the option to get no seasoning on it. ruins the flavor of the actual food. Other than that one thing, ITR is awesome. They have a huge selection of alcohol from wines, cocktails, sakes, and anything else. My wife ordered a St. Germaine, and it is a very light refreshing drink that goes well with a light meal. I decided to go very lean on my meal, so I ordered sashimi (raw fish with no rice). As you can see from my pic, the presentation was on POINT. So cool to see how the chef did it. I ordered the sashimi 9, which literally allows the chef to give me 3 pieces of 9 different kinds of fish. I loved it. Everything reacted to the soy sauce and wasabi mixture I made a bit differently, so it was fun having all the different kinds of fish. One more small complaint, that is something they should add to this option, is a list of all the fish that is given and where it is. Even after the waitress told me, it is hard to remember where all 9 fish are! I also added to my meal their seaweed salad, and it hard a great flavor. Sweet with not too mush sesame, but enough to have the flavor. This is great sushi. Nothing overpowering when you have the roll as far as a bunch of sauce, great options of rolls, nagiri, sashimi, and also bento bowls and salads. In my opinion this place is just mediocre in regards to sushi and doesn't seem any better than Sushi Train with their much higher price tag. Truly the best sushi in Tulsa IMO. Started out with the seaweed salad. Yum. Then we had an assortment of sushi-the philly roll, salmon nigeri, salmon roe, yellowtail nigeri, and the yellowtail roll between 3 of us. Our non-sushi eating friend had the ITR salad, her very favorite! Their atmosphere is hip and fun, and their drinks are really good. I've never had a bad experience here. I love how their menu incorporates the traditional sushi but also innovative options. I always like to ask the chef to surprise me and have never been disappointed with his creative dishes (they make them look pretty too!). The ambiance is great and service has always been on point. My favorite things to order are Phil's diablo shrimp, the not in the raw combo (california roll, shrimp sushi and crab sushi), and the volcano roll when I want something spicy (deep-fried shrimp, cream cheese, avocado and jalapeno with scallops). I love their patio and when they have live music and their food truck out there. Not sure if there is a schedule one can look up who's playing but it's usually during the weekends. read more
