BEST RAMEN IN TULSA Love this place. In my opinion it's the best ramen in Tulsa. You can read my other reviews to see the other ramen places I've reviewed. Well, I broke tradition and ordered something different this time. I tried the Miso Ramen. Sorry I forgot to take a picture. But it was solid. No complaints at all. Kazama always kills the broth. It is always consistent. It's like these guys don't ever have a bad day. The broth is not so over the top that you can't finish but it's still packed with flavor. The noodles are also spot on. Arrived within the last 45 minutes to close and they were welcoming. I love the vibe. I always have to get some crab Rangoon if it's available and it did not disappoint. Wish I had extra sauce for it though. The Tonkotsu Black Ramen hit the spot for my Ramen Craving! The best part was the pork in it. Plenty of seating available and some bar seats and a tv to look at if you want to go that route. Plenty of parking outside as well. Come check this spot out for yourselves!! read more

Kazama, doesn't he have a TV show. No wait, that's Karamo. Never mind. A cold windy day, soup day! I liked this little restaurant as soon as we walked in. Small, clean, nicely decorated. A very comfortable feel. Jia was handling all the customers. A fantastic, attentive, efficient waitress. Just a couple of folks in the restaurant when we walked in at 2PM. They kept coming. Last minute Christmas shoppers I suppose, taking a break for a late lunch. Pictures and descriptions of the appetizers had me drawn to the restaurant. The Harumaki and the Kazama Jalapeno Peppers. The Huramaki good. The Kazama Jalapeno Peppers were amazing, mind blowing little green trays of flavor. Crunchy, sweet, savory, spicey, rich. Appetizers were followed by a big delicious bowl of spicey chicken noodle soup for me and a boring vegetable Pad Thai for my wife. The soup was perfectly warming spicey and filling. Very good! Do not eat here without ordering the Kazama Jalapeno Peppers. Very enjoyable, excellent food, Kazama Ramen Bar is recommended. My hatred for Sriracha bottle nozzle boogers in Asian Restaurants is unrestrainable. See the pictures. Minus 1 star. Fortunately, the flavorful food did not need any help. Oh goodness gracious this place was AMAZING. It was quaint and peaceful. Service was outstanding. The time it took to get food and drinks was perfect especially if you have a quick lunch hour. The food was so tasty and the ramen was delicious. I forgot how much I like tempura pot stickers, and this did not disappoint. Stellar food. I know I shouldn't be doing this but I just had Tamashii a couple of days ago in OKC and now I can't help but to compare everything to the gold standard. If this was the first time I've been to a ramen bar, then I would give Kazama Ramen Bar a 4/5. So far, Kazama Ramen Bar is about the level as Ichitori Ramen in terms of the ramen, actually neck to neck, almost no difference between the two. I've tried the Tonkotsu ramen at both places. Broth tastes about the same, mildly creamy. The noodles of both places are a little hard, need a few minutes sitting to get softer. Pork bellies from both places are dry due to the high meat to fat composition. The best feature of both places happen to the the eggs in my personal opinion. Service is good at both places. Not much difference to me at all as I am happy with the service. Ichitori Ramen is more spacious and busier, although this may be location dependent and the time I dined in. The best feature of Kazama Ramen Bar for me is the Kazama jalapeño poppers which are stuffed jalapeño peppers with snow crab, masago, green onions and cream cheese drizzled with house made spicy mayo and eel sauce. The jalapeños are spicy which I love. I am serious they are spicy hot. If I offend people for comparing different ramen bars, I apologize in advance. Like I said, I can't help it because the difference is just too much. Like I've previously stated, you don't know what ramen really is until you've tried Tamashii. Love that place! read more

My daughters wanted to try a ramen place they haven't been to yet and I have never been to one, so we came to Kazama, which is across the road from Woodland Hills Mall. The restaurant was small and quaint, it was lunchtime so they had most of their tables full of customers. The menus were printed in black and the overall lighting was done in lowlights, so it made it a little difficult to read the menu. We ordered gyoza for appetizers and they came out steaming hot, but super delicious! Two of us got the chicken shoyu bowls and did not have any complaints! Then the other order was the garlic chicken ramen bowl and it was just as delicious! We enjoyed our time together and the food. I am older and not really used to paying the prices we paid for bowls of ramen! I guess that would be my only reason for not giving 5 stars. For someone who was married young and had many ramen meals, the price was just a bit much for me. read more

I doordashed the Tonkotsu ramen, crab rangoon, and melon flavored Japanese soda. It was all pretty good, but the ramen was disappointing. I haven't had authentic ramen before, so I am sure someone with more experience eating it would love it. The spice level (extra spicy) was great, the pork was tender, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the egg was nice. I just didn't think all the flavors worked for me. That's not the fault of the restaurant, it's my own personal taste. Plus I now think that ordering it to go was a bad idea. My fault. I also had never tried crab rangoon before and was a little put off by the cream cheese, but after eating a couple, I could definitely understand the hype. Lastly, the melon flavored soda was delicious. I must try to find more. All said, I think this is a great restaurant for real ramen lovers, and I would be happy to try another dish, in the future. read more

My go to when I am in Tulsa for work. Had it half a dozen times now. Steak teriyaki is great for to-go, and ramen is great when dining in.

Went in at 12:30 on a Friday and not a single customer was in the restaurant. Darkly lit environment. Service was good but not great. Ordered the Gyoza for appetizer and it was average. Daughter didn't like any of the ramen choices so she ordered miso soup. I got the spicy miso ramen. Both were ok. Broth wasn't as flavorful as other ramen places in town and not much noodle and meat in the bowl. Overall, it's fine in a pinch but there are better ramen options including two less than a mile away. read more

My husband and I were craving some ramen, and we had heard good things about Kazama! We started our meal off with some crab rangoons and they were crunchy and delicious (everything you would want in a crab/cream cheese Rangoon). I ordered the Garlic black bean ramen and it was really flavorful. The only downside to mine was that the pork was very dry and thin. My husband got the spicy miso ramen (I forgot to take a picture of his cause I was so excited to eat my ramen, so sorry guys), and he loved it! This was day 2 of opening day. I don't believe they were prepared for the amount of people that came through, there was basically one waitress and the owners helping out. Took a while to get seated and understandably the wait time for seating and food was slow. The reason for the 2 stars is as follows. The takoyaki was frozen in the middle still. I understand using instant premade takoyaki because, it is Tulsa but it shouldn't have come out cold/frozen in the middle. They corrected this by replacing it and it did come out cooked and hot in the middle the second time around. The broth of the ramen was lukewarm, and they gave me so many sliced RAW onions. Nothing in the ramen would have warmed up/cooked due to the slightly warm broth. I am going to compare this place to Jinya/Roppongi since those are the only two places on Tulsa that have anything close to authentic Japanese Ramen and by the comparison, Kazama was disappointing. The broth tasted very instant and lacking. The taste of the Ramen seems very customized to satisfy the American Palate but may disappoint anyone that is expect something near the Jinya/Roppongi flavor. They also forgot my Gyoza. The napkins on this place was super impressive however. Ambiance is nice but there was a roof leak and noticed water continuously drop on a customers shirt making the floor also wet and slippery on one spot. We have a new ramen place in town conveniently located on 71st street! This place is super super cute!! The tonkatsu ramen was real good! My sister and I shared it because my sister ordered the pad Thai and she asked for no spice which I think they interpreted as no flavor? The pad Thai was definitely missing the authentic pad Thai flavor and sadly we aren't sure if it's always that bland or if her asking for it not to be spicy ended up being no flavor at all sighes. Do NOT order the Harumaki egg rolls. They are not good, just two egg rolls cut fancy and the sauce is super good but not worth $4 for 2 gooey egg rolls. The Star to me was the Takoyaki. I really love Takoyaki and ours came out nicely decorated and hot (saw others may not have gotten the same takoyaki treatment but ours was amazing) it was a little pricey at $10 for 6 balls, but for what it's worth it was really good! The tonkatsu ramen is really good too! I probably haven't had enough ramen to compare broths but for me it was pretty good! It's a cute little place and if I have a craving for Takoyaki it's nice to have a place a little closer than Jinya downtown! Also staff was very nice friendly and attentive! My husband and I can't get over how delicious EVERYTHING was. This was the best place my husband and I have eaten at in SO LONG. We'll probably have our birthday or anniversary dinner here. I got the teriyaki ckn that came with a wonderfully COLD salad that had fantastic dressing, miso soup, and fried rice. The fried rice was different than any other place I've ever been to. It's hard to describe... it tasted really clean(?) You have to try it to understand, it was still pretty good, maybe add some soy sauce to yours if you want but I really liked it the way it came. I always try the teriyaki ckn when I go somewhere new to see if theirs is better than any other places I go, and my husband and I fell in LOVE with it. We had a party of 8 today, so we were able to try a lot of different things between the 8 of us. For appetizers, we had the Coconut Shrimp, Crab Rangoon, Gyoza, Harumaki and the Kazama jalapeño poppers. All were delicious!!! The Teriyaki Chicken was so tender and flavorful...came with a salad and their own special dressing that is made in house and it is fabulous! We even asked if we could get some of the dressing to take home. We also had a couple of the spicy ramen bowls which had the perfect amount of heat. So good! And make sure to save room for the Tempura cheesecake...it is amazing! Great service and delicious food! Highly recommend!!! read more

Extremely disappointing. Probably the worst ramen I've ever had at a ramen restaurant. Pro: Service was pretty fast and friendly. Ambience is nice (I enjoyed the cherry blossom chandeliers). Cons: Although service was fast, they often forgot our requests. It wasn't super busy and we had to ask them twice for things like app plates, extra bowls and spoons. My husband and I moved to Tulsa in the middle of 2021 and have made our way through a good number of restaurants. This by far has been the worst of all (I will admit, we have been trying to tap into highly rated places so this visit was a gamble). We wanted to treat family out for dinner but ended up so disappointed after spending $70+. This is the first time we left so much food on the table. It was honestly so sad. What we got: - Takoyaki: Not bad. Good enough. - Fried Calamari: Prob the best out of what we ordered. It was very crispy. Sauce was light and forgettable. - Black Garlic Bean Ramen: The worst ramen we've ever had. The broth was so diluted. Meat was scarce and SO THIN that we thought it was just the veggies. Noodle to broth ratio was way off (there wasn't much broth). My husband and I kept telling each other we'd rather have our cup ramen at home, sigh. My husband is a huge foodie who rarely leaves his place unfinished. We left a lot uneaten. - Spicy Miso Ramen: My brother is a huge ramen guy. Disappointed as well. Left a lot of the noodles uneaten (due to too many noodles and too little broth). - Seafood Korean Ramen: My mother got this. She did say the seafood itself wasn't bad. The broth was lackluster. Generally too many slices of green onions as well. Tried to mix it well but many of the bites ended up being a lot of the green onions. Egh. The food was extremely mediocre. Compared to other ramen places in the area, it's definitely on the lower end. I had both the Tonkotsu and the Spicy Miso ramens. The broth in both lacked flavor. The spicy miso ramen tasted more like spicy miso soup rather than a ramen dish. The noodles that they used were unlike anything I've ever had before, but not in a good way. I would recommend a few instant ramens over this place. The dishes overall were palatable and I finished my broth, which I do not do at every ramen place I go to. Very nice ambience. Of the 4X I've been there I had the same staff for 3. Delicious food, chef & wait staff willing to accommodate vegan/vegetarian needs but there are enough of those options already on the menu. The one time I did not have the usual staff it was an older woman who wasn't as personable & she wanted to seat me at the last table closest to the rest room because I was one customer & the other table across from me was for other guests. There was only one slice of pork for his ramen, and he did not get the corn he ordered. His broth was very diluted. I ordered The Miso Ramen soup and it was unpalatable. It did not taste of Miso but had an unappetising aftertaste that was unrecognisable and at $17 that is unsatisfactory to say the least . I have eaten authentic Japanese food my entire life and this was extremely disappointing. A restaurant only has one opportunity to make an impression and unfortunately this made a negative one . Solid spot!! I have eaten at a lot of different Ramen bars. Kazama absolutely came through with authentic flavors. Walked in with a healthy level of skepticism. Little expectations after just having one of the best bowls ive ever had in chicago. I typically try the Tonkatsu ramen everywhere i go, so that i have a good idea of what flavors i like. The broth was delicious and not too heavy. The pork belly was just right and not too much fat. 100% would get it again. Ill try the miso next. Then you notice the decor, it's comfortable, inviting, clean and tastefully done without being campy or any token culture shock. Absolutely love the cherry blossom chandeliers.. now when I tell you that the tables were clean and organized and even the napkins are professionally done, hade me feeling special getting fork with no water spots. The broth for the ramen tasted Like something you would get from packaged ramen but way more watered down. The pork had an awful plastic taste ( also two extremely thin slices). However, the eggs where perfect. The chicken fried rice literally had zero flavor what so ever and was creamy in texture.
