The service was poor, 3 times had to ask for wasabi. Eel sauce came on the 2nd roll super late. Servers aren't well trained and organized. If I could give this restaurant a zero star, I would! The service is terrible. The food is mediocre, and the drinks are pure sugar. It's all show! A couple will spend $400 for what is, in my opinion, a hyped up restaurant. Osaka is a major fail - major. There are many beautiful and "over the top" restaurants in Miami that through great design and decor enhance the Miami dining experience. Osaka took a very different approach in that it's simple and austere and there is nothing wrong with that and because of its low key ambiance I thought it would solely be a food-focused experience. No bells and whistles just quality food. Unfortunately the food equaled the dull design. From our outdoor patio table our view afforded us an up close look at a few Brickell buildings. Brickell buildings tend to be under whelming or non-descript but my view was of a condo's garage. Okay, plain restaurant with an ugly view but I'm here because of the stellar reviews not decor or views. My Yelp reviews often highlight the South Florida waiters because they are so much better than those back in New York. There are exceptions though and our waiter who I'll refer to as Pushy Guy is one of them. He was trying to up-sell and was trying to rush us. Pushy Guy was being pesty and this could be a result not of him but management. However a neighboring table seemed to have a pleasant and less aggressive waiter. Our waiter suggested we get the Omakase with the $240 per person tasting menu being the best way to sample Osaka's chef's creations. Okay we were going to try the $240 dinner but....... then Pushy Guy said to augment the dinner we would need to try two more items - on top of the $240. Seriously we have already ordered expensive wine, bottled water and a very weak (watered down?) drink - Okay and Whoa to that suggestion. I don't mind paying for a great dining experience but here I felt like I was paying to line the pockets of management and with Pushy Guy's suggestion our tab with drinks, tax and tip would have been almost $600 a person. Come on - really. Seriously, Pushy Guy was silly. We opted for several other items including large nigiri platters. The sushi was good but certainly not great and not memorable. Among our appetizer was a highly rated tuna on top of a cracker that was mediocre at best and something I had forgotten I had eaten a few minutes later. To Osaka's credit I had a truly delicious braised beef. This dish was perfectly cooked and nicely flavored and if I would have gone just for this item and nothing else than Osaka would have been fine. I enjoyed my sushi and Asian fusion dining much more at Zuma, Novikov, Mila and a few other Miami restaurants and the aforementioned are in nicer spaces with better service and at cheaper prices. read more

We were too engaged in conversation to take pictures of our food, the presentation is exquisite their use of oils and sea salts make the flavors pop. In summary: best food and service you'll find in Miami. 10/10 always, but I am particularly impressed by my experience on Saturday. Sat at the bar (my first time doing so) and ordered the Honey Cha cocktail, as well as the Hotate Truffle and Hamachi Brasa nigiris to start (my 3 favorite items on the menu) - breathtaking, per usual. Continued with the Nikkei Makimono, a recommendation from our bartender, and really enjoyed it (melts-in-your-mouth-kind-of-good). Made it to top 4. Although I am ALWAYS blown away by the quality of the food, I would like to acknowledge a few people for making my most recent experience so memorable due to their quality of service. First and foremost, hats off to Jorge for making delicious and finely crafted cocktails, delivering punctual service, and being so friendly. I look forward to sitting with him again. I'd also like to acknowledge Garrick's welcoming nature and Alex's creativity. They were very attentive to us and gave us great drink recommendations throughout the night. Josh was detailed and hospitable, and when the bar got busy, still made the experience feel personal. And finally, I'd like to recognize Jazz; although he didn't serve us on Saturday (as we were seated in the bar area), he has been my go-to server every other time I've visited and has never fallen short of excellent. Okay -- I've heard great things about this Japannese Peruvian restaurant-- I have to say my expectations were not met. First off I hate having to pay "25$ per person" to reserve a table. That is a big turn off to begin with. That being said, it's pretty hard to get a decent timed reservation. So I figured I'd try the notorious bento box take out. Just to find out that 7:30 was way too late to get my hands on the "hype". I had to place my order at 4 or 5 pm to be able to try the bento box. To me that is ridiculous. Not only was that not available, but the menu for take out is significantly smaller than the dine-in menu. I ended up ordering a a few rolls, nigiri, the tuna ceviche and a tiradito. To me, there were too many flavors going on. Some items were extremely sweet. I guess next time I should try dining in to get the full experience for the price you pay. read more

We recently moved from nyc and had been craving a good sushi spot but could not find anything until Osaka. The service, ambiance, food, entire dining experience, was second to none. A note on service: everyone was top notch professional from Jas - our server, the runners, the host. You could feel the passion from the team and that truly adds to the ambiance that makes Osaka so special. I was here in early June with a couple of friends, and we literally had one of everything on the menu. The bill came out to 1,000 but it was well worth it. The piscos were great. The pisco with the chicha morada ice cube hits different in your tongue because once the ice melts, it gives it a different flavor. My favorite was the tuna foie (I know I'm spelling this wrong). It's duck liver. The fat from the liver melts on your tongue, as you bite down. The Mariscos con fuego was fire ! (Pun intended). The sea bass with the butter sauce, it's out of this world. All the waiters and waitress were very attentive and even the owner came out to say hello. The service was amazing and friendly. The music was mellow and the environment was aesthetically pleasant. My favorite dinner spot in Brickell! I am a foodie and have been underwhelmed by the dinner spots in Brickell - generally good ambiance (important for me) but really not super tasty and over priced. Osaka was great! The ambiance is dope. The service was impeccable. I loved the tapas-style shareable dishes. The duck on the menu was great (though the experimental duck leg was too hard to eat).
